Bio

Hello all. I am an experienced writer who is writing my own fiction stories on the side. I can role play any genre. What I love most is being able to go-all-out when weaving tales with other writers. It just makes the story more interesting, so I can't wait to write with you. :)

Balthair incoming when I get home. The Minotaur was all he needed to see to pinpoint the issue.
@13orgI didn't expect to meet other PCs until maybe when they figured out a way to communicate with the rest of the guild members. If that never happens, then maybe they'll meet the assassin later down the line and hopefully, they won't be Face's target. ;)
@13orgCheck the map on the OP of the OOC.

@IceHeartWell, I would have said that its typical in almost every MMO lol, but with the New World maybe not?
Hey all. Welcome. :) I am going to see if we can get the full amount of bodies, and then I'll transfer us over to the OOC to start the Prologue.

5/8 so far. I am sure the alternates will show up when the OOC goes up.

Also, if I don't get the 3 extra people, then I'll start with who we have any way. The smaller the group, the easier it is often times.

If you guys have any questions at this time, feel free to ask. :)

Inspired by Legacy of Kain: Dead Sun, a game that was cancelled. This game will not be following the exact story line. I am only using the life-after death concept. I had to also add Dark Souls here simply because after staring at the completed product, I was like, "Hm...this does seem a little Dark Souls-y but it's not." So yay Dark Souls!

You died as all living beings are meant to. Whatever story you had to your name is gone. Whatever treasures, belongings, titles, or family you had are gone. You are nothing now, and all of your beliefs—everything you thought you knew—everything you thought to be truth will be disproven. Your soul has arrived in a realm that is neither heaven nor hell. The Afterlife you realize is a dog-eat-dog world. Where only the kings; queens; gods; emperors; whatever you want to call them, they are the most powerful beings in the Afterlife. Each ruler owns a territory where he, she, or it subjugates souls. The souls feed them. The souls worship them. The souls are their slaves—as are you. Did you think that by being good and doing the right thing your entire life that you wouldn’t end up here? Hah!

In the Afterlife, the sun never shines. Instead, it is a big, black ball in the forever white and black sky. In this world there are monsters sentient and primitive, beasts who either coexist or live to destroy one another. These creatures did not exist where you’re from. They might have actually been stories or you might have seen something similar in a movie once. Maybe H.P. Lovecraft was telling the truth all this time but everyone had thought he was too insane?

The Afterlife feels like a whole new planet. There are vast and odd lands with odd creatures and peoples. Predominantly, the Afterlife is full of slaves and those slaves who have been appointed to higher positions in service of their lord or god. You…you won’t know what that’s like. You are a worm. You will only know pain and endless labor. You won’t even see the face of the one who put you where you are. You are a cog in the machine. A brick in a wall belonging to an indomitable fortress. There is no hope for you…or is there?

You made it this far? Good. I was just testing to see if you were actually reading what I wrote. Now, onto the good stuff.

Souls bear no distinct curves or shapes that once would define a being as either male or female. As a Soul in the Afterlife, you are pure white with a gentle glow. You stand on two legs and possess two arms, a neck, and a round circular head, but you have no other defining features. You have two dots for eyes, but possess no mouth but can speak. Everyone who joins this game starts out in this form and most of the beings in the Afterlife are in this form. This form is called the “Spirit” form.

Now there is a fancy feature in the Afterlife. I suppose you’re wondering how the gods became gods? Well, it could be because they have been here forever. Simple answer, right? Actually, they were all Spirits once. As mentioned before, Afterlife is a dog-eat-dog world. A Spirit can become something greater than themselves. A Spirit can become a god just like them, but it is a lengthy process. How, you ask? By consuming Souls. It is the only way. Good or evil does not exist. Murder is not wrong, but it can be. It can be wrong if the gods deem it to be wrong. Spirits, throughout the Afterlife, are prohibited from consuming other Spirits and will be captured and destroyed if found out. In the Afterlife, once you die, there is no other place you can go. You simply no longer exist. That fear alone is what keeps the order in the world, and it’s also why the gods have never had an usurper.

An usurper cannot make the journey to the top alone. Many Spirits like you dream of making it to the top and using the great power you have acquired to escape the Afterlife. Greed, however, is why no gods have ever chosen to do such a thing. In the Afterlife, they control everyone and everything. They don’t have to worry about dying again. They fear what would happen if they ascended into Reality. Are you afraid?

Everyone will be a Spirit who has been enslaved and forced to perform manual labor under a harsh whip. The labor won’t always suit a purpose. A Spirit may find themselves moving thorn stones for the sake of moving thorn stones. The true purpose of the subjugation is to keep the Spirits broken mentally and physically. You endure this ridiculous hardship as an Overseer, a creature resembling what you would have called a demon or monster, wounds you with a whip. Your Spirit is at its wit's end. Is this what it was must endure for the rest of its unlife? The Overseer, while sadistically savoring the punishment, has an accident. When attempting to devour one of the unruly Spirits, the Spirit becomes lodged in its throat. The Overseer chokes and struggles, and the other Spirits see an opportunity for vengeance. The Spirits overwhelm the Overseer, and as the beast perishes, he releases from his body…Souls. The Spirits eat them, and by doing so, they ascend becoming something greater [I will go into more detail in the Character Sheet section].

Now the ascended Spirits will form a resistance. They will travel together throughout the Afterlife, conquering the gods’ officers and freeing the Spirits from subjugation. The further the Spirits go in their journey, the stronger they become until they too will become gods and on that day, they will be strong enough to conquer the realm and decide whether to traverse into Reality or remain where they are as the new gods.

I plan for their journey to be long and fantastical with horrors and other oddities. This will be a HUGE power-gaming game. So if you don’t like cataclysmic battles that defy all logic, reasoning, and science, then this may not be the game for you because there will be some epic shit once the characters reach that level.

I am going to surprise all of you. Do not fill out this CS. This CS will only be filled out during the game as your character acquires Souls. I am posting the CS, but I will give an explanation beneath it.

Your character will not acquire a name, defining features, gender, etc. until the Spirit consumes their first soul. The first soul will happen automatically as explained in the Plot section, and when that time comes you will be allowed to design your character however you want. They can be male, female, or it. They can be human, humanoid, beast, demonic, angelic, monster-like, fae-like, dragon-like, whatever. With your first acquired Soul, you must choose between them acquiring a Weapon OR a Power/Ability. Only one or the other. Not both. The more Souls your character gains, then the more opportunities he/she/it will have. You will also be able to enhance your character’s features with each Soul, making them appear stronger.

In order to control replication, I will be monitoring powers, weapons, and abilities. I may even regulate that once a character claims a power that another character cannot claim that power in order to preserve character originality and usefulness when it comes to group combat. When you eventually create a character, it does help to use somewhat of a theme, but I really won't be strict on themes.

The Rank section will be like character Level as in a typical game. As I said, I'll go into it more as it becomes relevant in the IC. Basically, Soul Count is XP and the Rank is Level. I want players to later down the line be able to look at their character's CS and take pleasure in seeing how many souls they've collected throughout the game, thus far.

I will only accept digital art. I want to see you guys choose some creative artwork to represent your characters’ face claims.

I will only be accepting up to 8 players as well as 8 characters total. Thus, you can only make 1 character. I will be accepting up to 4 alternates in the case any of those 8 players go AWOL as what usually happens with writers on this site. I will deem a player AWOL if they disappear for 30 days without any notice. So, if you are interested and actually dedicated. Please say you are "interested and dedicated" in this interest check. This interest check OP will basically be the OOC. I will tweak the OOC throughout the game as certain features become relevant.

Q&A

I am always open to Questions. I will put "good" questions here with their answers.

1. No drama. Those who have been in my RPs know that I don't play the "whining" game. I treat all players like adults, and therefore, if you come here not acting like a grown human being, I won't put up with your crap. I will just ask you to leave. This is a no drama zone.
2. No is No. If I ask you to change, tweak, or get rid of something, then it is usually for the sake of the game. While every character here can reach a power-gaming level, this does not mean I will allow you to have certain powers that just destroy all life, balance, reality, etc. That would be ridiculous, and therefore, this is also a no bullshit zone.
3. Mary Sues/Gary Stus. Yes, even in a game that raises future god-types, I will not be allowing Mary Sues or Gary Stus. In this game, what I will deem as a Mary Sue or Gary Stu would be those horrible people who like to make: "I wanna be a dragon-unicorn-neko-angel-demon-attack helicopter-sand dragon-dune lord." While I don't care if people mix and match their characters features. Such as a character may be draconic but has angel wings. Or a beast man may look like a bear but have a lion's mane. While I do not mind these customizations, I just will not have what I stated in the quotes. If I see it, I will warn you about it, and if you make a habit of it, I'll just ask you to leave.
4. Writing Quality. I am very big on quality over quantity, but quality often goes hand-in-hand with quantity. Quality posts are often full of quantity. If you write like you belong in the Free RP zone, then do not join this game. I guarantee you most of the people in this game write on a casual to advanced level. So yes, if you write like this is a Free RP, I will not accept you. The reason why is because if you are role playing with someone who gives you like 5 paragraphs to 3 pages of writing and you respond to that person with 3 sentences or even 1 para. It's an insult. You just wasted that person's time and gave them nothing to feed off of and work with. It is a muse kill. Not allowed here. Sorry, but there's a reason why this RP is here and not in the Free zone.
5. Images. If you guys ever use images, please shrink them down or put a hider around it if it is ridiculously huge. Posting up some 800x600 image above your post is not cool. Don't do it.
6. Color Discipline. If you are one of those people who like to color your posts or your character's speech, then avoid "NEON" colors and "DARK" colors. No one wants to see neon colors blinding them. No one wants to see colors that bleed into the gray background of the site. Try to use an in-between and if you run out of colors, there's this site you can Google called "HTML Color Codes" and you can nab some six digit color code there. Again, no neon and dark colors.
7. Be Creative. You are literally building an entire character in this game--through the game. Bring some creativity. Be willing to interact with others, and when we get into the open world, use your imagination to its fullest. You are going to see creatures unlike what we see currently on earth in the Afterlife. You can make them up and even give them a name, and we'll make a Bestiary. I want you guys to just go crazy with your creative energy here. So please have fun, and if you aren't having fun, don't drag everyone down with you.
So who is actually still left in this game before I bother to write a response? I've been going through my subscription list, culling some games that haven't been: a) active, or b) that I haven't had much of a muse or active role in. This game would fall into category "a." I tend to write lengthy posts, so I didn't want to write one, find out barely anybody is around anymore, and then yeah, it all be for nothing. I try to conserve as much creative energy as I can.
@VoodooFor some reason, I got your character and HeySeuss's character mixed up. I think it's because you both write your characters having a "small" presence lol. I thought you had already posted for the halfling and then I looked back, looked at the character thread area, and was like Oooh!

Katze Plains
Lone Pasture

Face had been facing a naked Lord DoShit who had been stripped down to his human drawers and was holding his last max upgraded and enchanted weapon, a great axe that looked like it was ripped from hell. The Obsidian Great Axe was completely black and bathed in fire—almost like those sometimes cool-sometimes ridiculous weapon skins they sold in the cash shop. The assassin was seated in the grass, gazing at the time on his interface. The server should have been shutting down any moment.

“The server is gonna shut down any minute now,” Face informed.

“I don’t care, noob!”

“Seeing you like this is pathetic. You don’t even have any decent gear. I don’t know how you even made it this far in the game. I guess with money there doesn’t need to be a logical explanation.”

“Shut the fuck up! I’m gonna own you until the end!”

“Ok; yeah; sure, buddy because you’re on quite the owning streak already.”

The game started to flicker. Looks like it’s finally happening. Thank God.

The graphics blurred just as the War Lord activated a burning charge toward him. Everything blurred into a smear of incomprehensible details before his eyes, and when the game started to focus—no, it was more like his eyes started to focus. He could feel cool air on his skin, smell fresh grass, and hear the atmosphere breathing about him. Everything focused and no longer was he in a field with lesser slimes hopping around.

“AGH! AAAH! OH GOD! OH FUCK!”

The screams startled him, causing him to jerk away from the direction the pained shrieks came from. He saw the war lord on his back in the grass, grasping his side that was spurting with blood. Those screams hadn’t been programmed into the game before. The sound was unlike anything he had ever heard. The screams sounded real and the human’s face was contorted with terror and agony.

“Mein Gott…” his voice left him slightly muffled. As though he were speaking through a gas mask. Glancing down at his hands, he saw his dark-grey slender fingers wrapped about the handle of a kusarigama, the sanguine blade dripping with fresh blood. He could smell the copper. The metallic smell made his free hand rise to his face to grasp a smooth rounded shape. His fingers passed into the three holes in his skull curiously, finding no nose, eyes, or mouth. “Ich bin der Doppelgänger!”

“WHAT IS HAPPENING!? HELP ME! PLEASE GOD!” the war lord cried.

Face rushed over to the man, shaking in fear. Had he done this? Had he cut him? It must have happened before the server crash. The server did crash right? His hands were trembling as he raised them over the war lord’s body, unsure what to do. Where were the commands? Where was anything!?

“Do you have any more health potions?”

“I DO! I-I CAN’T ACCESS THEM! NOTHING IS WORKING HELP!”

“The…The bleeding should stop in 10 seconds.”

The excessive bleeding would stop but nothing was going to close that gaping wound in his side. There was so much blood. It was pooling in the grass. Face glanced around at his surroundings, seeing a bunch of fluffy lambs hopping about. Eying their wool, Face reassured the war lord, “I’ll be back. Wait one second.”

Face rose from his crouched position and raced over to one of the bouncing sheep. He grappled one within his arms, the creature bahing and bucking and tore a puffy handful of its wool free. Releasing the creature, Face momentarily gazed down at the wool in his hands. It was spongy, warm, and rough, but its pillowy texture would help. He raced back over to the war lord and pressed the wool clump against his wound.

“Press this against your wound for a moment. I am going to see if I can figure out my inventory. I’m sure I have a health potion I could give you.”

Lord DoThis pressed the wool desperately against his side as he continued to groan on the ground. Face reached a hand into one of his pouches at his belt, and his conscience seemed to expand. He could see the items. There. One health potion. Drawing the item from his pouch, he held the vial up before his nonexistent eyes and swirled the red liquid around. It was fascinating to see an actual health potion. Seriously, what was going on with the game? He knelt next to Lord DoThis and slid his hands beneath his armpits to prop his torso up against him. Tugging the cork free, Face brought the potion to the war lord’s lips to help him drink. The warrior drank hurriedly, pausing for a minute to grimace over the taste, “Guh! What is this? It’s so bitter!”

“Drink it, you idiot!” Face growled.

As the human continued to drink, red sparkles started to rise off his body and the gash at his side started to slowly close. Face watched the healing potion work its magic in relief until an odd sensation befell his conscience. Two red spheres appeared within the holes in his face. His vision became red. Everything around him was crimson, and for a moment, he felt distant. As though he wasn’t himself. He watched his hands begin to act on their own, dropping the health potion and grasping the kusarigama.

“Hey! I wasn’t finished!” Lord DoThis exclaimed in protest.

Face’s arm crossed over the war lord’s throat and swiftly uncrossed, dragging the red sickle across his throat and parting its flesh like paper. Blood tumbled from Lord DoThis’s lips and his head tipped back against the dopplegänger, further than any human head was supposed to go. Blood shot in streams into the assassin’s face. He could feel it. Warm and cooling by the second in the air. It ran down his smooth face and seeped into his top. The red vision faded as color rushed back to his eyes and so had his conscience. Face stared in horrified silence at the dead man whose lifeless eyes were gazing up at him. His body was limp and heavy in his lap. Had…Had he killed him? What? How? He didn’t push anything to trigger the execution. He didn’t do anything! How did this happen?

The dopplegänger fearfully screamed and crawled backwards across the grass away from the body.

“Was zur Hölle! Was habe ich getan?! Nein! Das habe ich nicht gemacht!” (What the hell? What did I do? No! I didn’t do this!) Face cried. He crawled further away from the body until his back met the fluffy backside of a lamb who was carelessly munching on grass. He whirled on the creature in fright, his sudden motion scaring the creature into bouncing away. The assassin felt so on edge. “Was ist passiert?” (What has happened?)

The assassin collapsed on his side and curled into a ball. His lengthy hands covered his face as he wept without tears. Ich wollte ihn nicht töten! (I didn’t mean to kill him!) After a good fifteen minutes of grief, the dopplegänger continued to lay there in the grass surrounded by sheep. He gazed across the field at the body that some crows had found and started to eat. In the quiet, he felt…alone. Alone, but not entirely confused.

“I am the Greater Dopplegänger,” he accepted. My character was a master assassin, and I was aligned with evil. Could my body still be aligned with evil despite what I believe?

He continued to watch the crows devour the human. I wonder if Lord DoThis is actually dead or is he free from this hell? I am in the game. I am inside my character. If I don’t learn how to interact with the interface, then I won’t be able to log out. Or I may end up like Lord DoThis (is he dead?).

Face grasped his face, and he would be closing his eyes if he had any. Am I evil? I watched myself kill him. Could I have stopped it? If my character was evil, does that make me evil?

His thoughts depressed him. I can’t stay here moping forever. I have to learn everything again or else I won’t make it. Yggdrasil is still a PVP world. I have to learn to survive it with this body.

Face pulled himself off the lawn and rose to his feet. His slender frame stood like a scarecrow over the white fluffballs that dotted the field. Dropping the heavy claw upon the grass with a thump, Face faced the herd of sheep, gripping the black chain of the weapon within his hands. He twirled the bladed end, twirling it until it became a red disk. He released the blade, sending it flying into the body of one of the sheep.

Bah! a sheep screamed as it was impaled. Face threw his shoulders toward the creature, the world around him became a blur as his agility carried him swiftly toward the herbivore. He gathered the creature within his arms and drew his blade out of its body. Holding the writhing creature, his heart sank a little in his chest—weighed down by disturbance by how real the creature in its dying moments felt.

That’s right. I gave my assassin an agility build. I might be able to get lamb meat from this.

Face continued to practice the techniques he remembered across the field, performing the moves as he remembered how they looked.

A human shepherd was stirred from his nap by the pungent smell of blood. Upon waking, he was startled by the blood, wool, and lamb corpses that covered the field.

“M-my sheep!” the shepherd NPC exclaimed. His face paled. Was there a single one alive? What sort of creature would do this?

Like a white rose in a field of red, he saw in the distance a single lamb that was standing in the field. The shepherd NPC rushed over to the creature.

“Thank heavens there’s one left!” he said before he reached down to pet the creature’s head. “You poor thing. You’re the only survivor. I’m sorry. I fell asleep!”

The lamb burst into white smoke in front of the shepherd’s face, causing him to recoil in a coughing fit. “Gak! What the-! GRK!”

A red blade split his chest. The shepherd’s back arched and head snapped back, eyes bulging up at the sky. Behind him, obscured by the dissipating smokescreen was the silhouette of an assassin. The shepherd in his dying moments heard the rattle of a chain before the blade slid from his chest to allow his body to join the lambs on the crimson field.

Whipping the blade of his kusarigama to the side to get rid of the blood, Face chuckled in exhilaration as he gazed upon the field. He was going to survive. He could remember his moves. He would soon be out of this stupid game!

“I declare this land Crimson Fields…” said the assassin ominously.

Face quickly fled from the pasture, sprinting northeast toward the Baharuth Empire.
@Life in StasisI get that but I was just playing with the idea of them all just going, "Welp." *walks away*

Cultists, Summoner, and Magi: ....Well...that didn't go as expected.

@Delta44Also, I guess we'll find out on his response post. I'm holding off writing anything until it's up. I want to know what the cultists, magi, etc. look like.
@Guardian Angel HarukiHave Frisk actually grab onto something. You cannot just say "grab something." You have teammates so maybe they can help you out.
