Written Description

Raithen is a man of average build and average height. He wears typical attire consisting of sturdy trousers and a collared shirt covered up by a button up vest. Other accoutrements include leather boots, knee pads, a variety of straps holding a number of pouches and a simply red scarf. To cover it all is a rather hefty trench coat which aids to conceal the combat knife, the ammunition and occasionally the firearm he carries, Venom. A cigarette oftens dangles from his lips surrounded by a dark, trimmed beard. His hair is dark and thick, combed over from the side with the sides and back shaven. Beneath the layers of clothing are the effects of the Hades genome. Raithen is surrounded by the faint scent of decay, rotting flesh, and necrosis. As he ages, his body is being consumed by the rot of a daemonic undead. While currently it is hidden away by his clothing it has begun to consume his torso, the flesh deteriorating from his very bones.

Personality

Raithen acts as his conscience regard for what others expect of him. He makes his own way, but he is kind and benevolent. Raithen believes in goodness and right but has little use for laws and regulations. He hates it when people try to intimidate others and tell them what to do. He often clashes with the Turks, the few times they have cross pathes. Raithen follows his own moral compass, which, although good, may not agree with that of society. He waylays the evil terrorist group for his corporate overlords, is chaotic good. Raithen is the perfect example of the combination of a good heart with a free spirit.

Background

Synopsis:Born to the once prosperous Gongaga Village, Raithen was an energetic and amicable child. While he did not particularly shine as a student, the other children held him in high esteem because of his keen eye and athletic capabilities outside of the school house. He was particularly good at throwing rocks at birds as they flew nearby. A few years older than Zack Fair they were simply acquaintances, but Raithen never missed a beat when Zack left for soldier. Skip ahead a few years and the Reactor had ended up in pieces, nearly destroying the entire village and scattering the people around the world. While Raithen had already lost his Mother before the incident, both Raithen and his Father had left the village to find fortune with life in the big city. They had relocated to Junon, but it was only for a short period before Raithen had moved on to Midgar where he enlisted in SOLDIER. He achieved first class in an appropriate amount of time showing great athletic ability and a well tuned eye for defensive measures almost as if he had a second sight. Along with being exposed to high levels of mako, he was also imbued with the Hades genome. Although it had its side effects, the Genome was overall successful - proving that the Shinra Electric Power Company may have been on the right track.

Venom, Breath of Hades

The firearm he carries is of a complicated alteration of weapon in research and development by the Shinra Corporation known as the Fomalhaut. While Raithen is not a blacksmith or a military genius, he does know his firearms. While the common shell is representative of a strong twelve gauge slug, with a small explosive element. Of course, knowing his firearms Raithen has also been able to fabricate his own ammunition imbuing shells with various status effects allowed to him by Hades. He is capable of creating shells that on impact explode with the power of the chosen materia (if the effects of such are not known). For example, if he creates a Transform shell the effects could be either mini or toad, or both without the ability of Raithen’s knowledge. These shells must be created before battle as they do require time and concentration to make.

I am having everyone put their finished work here. I said I was not going to make an OOC until I had 5 completed CSes because when I make both the OOC and IC because I make them both and post them both at the same time, we are immediately starting. The only people who I will be working with on CSes are new people who did not see this interest check.

Your CS I have only two issues with. I may not be able to see it because I am on my phone, but you never posted your character's name or rank. Besides that, the CS is a go. In the "Character Creation" section, refer to the first two paragraphs in the CS explanation hider where I talk about the name and rank.

Regarding your restriction of not having more than five skills. This is stated in the materia section. Does this imply that you will only allow five pieces of materia (including/excluding support materia)? Or does this imply five separate skills outside of materia? Or does this imply five skills acquired by leveled materia i.e. if I have Bio and Transform fully leveled that is it?

5 materia slots. How you fill those slots is up to you, but you only get 5. What I check for is to see if you picked materia associated with the summon you chose. Some summons do not have a lot, but you do not have to max out the slots.

Second, regarding your weapon profile. You stated we would only have one weapon, is this one primary weapon or one weapon specifically? Would you allow a secondary weapon such as a dagger or combat knife? As you stated SOLDIERs are trained in the martial arts, would this count as a secondary weapon as well?

One weapon. Dual weapons are also considered one weapon. Utility weapons such as a knife, which can be used to cut things like rope, meat, for cooking or crafting I will allow as an "item," but it won't be considered a weapon. But no, one weapon. This is your character's primary weapon. This is a Final Fantasy 7 game not Call of Duty. Majority of the characters fought with one weapon. If you want to have a character that uses more than one weapon, then make him a basic Shinra troop. They are the closest thing to a realistic non-fantasy soldier.

When your characrer is unarmed, he can still defend himself using martial arts but his martial arts would not be better than the SOLDIER who specializes in hand-to-hand combat (that SOLDIER's prinary weapon).

Elaboration would be appreciated.

Co-GM Qualifications: You have to be able to read the game, understand the game, know what the GM is looking for in applicants, and be able to answer questions that writers may have in a respectful manner. You will also assist in guiding new players through the application process. You do not have to play a character role in the game. You could solely be a game manager. If you do want a character or wish to role play significant characters/NPCs, or throw some plotlines in there, feel free but be sure to communicate these desires with the GM.

Guile, this is James Varrock in the Smash Arena…

Guile was seated in the Council Room, having been awakened from his sleep by the Mugen alert. He was wearing an army-green T-shirt that was looking like a smedium stretched over his bulk, black basketball shorts, and flip flops. He was rubbing at his eyes, gazing at a white glowing map of Platform City. There were oscillating waves on a graph above the city, measuring the threat level. It seemed to be growing by the second.

What are you clowns doing there? Guile mentally grumbled. It was 2 o’clock in the morning. It was odd seeing some goody-goody heroes get involved in underground fighting. Then again, he remembered how several of them were formerly addicted to the Smash.

…We have an M-Virus infected villain attacking us right now. Coordinates attached, send reinforcements.

Guile tapped a few touch buttons on the console table and downloaded the coordinates sent by Varrock. A red spot appeared on the map, showing the heroes literally underground. Perhaps in the subway system somewhere. No surprise there. Guile tapped the red spot, and the hologram zoomed in showing several red dots—like fleas—sprouting around the large one that he figured was the queen. A weighted scowl creased the lines heavily on Guile’s face. He pressed a button and responded to the Nightstalker, “Listen closely Varrock; and be sure to relay this to the rest of you yahoos keepin’ me up at night. You guys can’t let that thing escape. If it reaches the surface, it could infect the whole town. We don’t have a cure for it yet, so if the situation requires you to take a life that ain’t the enemies’s, but the person’s infected, then you must do what needs to be done to protect this city. Understand? If they’re innocent, but infected, yes, I am telling you to not spare anyone.”

“The reinforcements I’m gonna send are gonna be creatin’ a checkpoint at each of the possible exits. Nothin’ will go in and nothin’ will come out without a thorough check or neutralization. That’s all I’m givin’ you. So you champs better not fail me.”

Minecraft Steve was struggling with the Egg Stealer. The block man tried to pin the energetic creature down, but its blurring movements, even when squirming were enough to allow the thief to slip free of the block man’s clutches. In a streak of blue, the thief seemingly fled the main area…in the direction of where Shantae and Robin had taken the survivors. In the dark tunnel of the Subway, several of the survivors were complaining and fussing about how they didn’t get to claim the money from their bets and how they had wasted their money. The tunnels were nearly pitch-black without proper lighting. A few of the survivors were using lamp apps on their phones.

Hehehehe….

“What the fuck was that?”

“That sounded creepy…”

Hehehehe…

“Where is it coming from!?”

“Who’s fuckin’ around!? Stop that shit!”

The shrill giggle had then suddenly dropped into an ominous depth.

Hahahaha!

There was a pair of white gleaming eyes and a wide toothy smile, appearing like a Cheshire cat in the dark. One of the survivors screamed in terror as they were suddenly snatched up and stuffed into a black sack that had spiraling rows of triangular teeth descending into what appeared to be a bottomless bag.

“FUCK! RUN!” the stampede of screaming and panicking survivors spurred a wave of chaos and disarray. The crowd would trample the heroes if they were not careful.

Hahahaha!

Rock, energy, and gunfire sent the hulking Gnasty Gnorc flying backwards and making a second hole through the concrete wall. The brute was buried in a pile of rumble as he laid there seemingly defeated, but his barreled-chest trembled with laughter. Sitting upwards, the rubble tumbled away revealing the creature with hardly a scratch from such petty attacks.

“Is that all you got?” Gnasty chuckled. He rose from the rubble as rocks from the shattered flooring tumbled from his shoulders and clattered down his scales. He clicked his teeth, his eyes momentarily burning red. “Let’s see how much virus you can handle.”

Gnasty crossed his arms before his chest and his scales once again splayed before firing like machine-gun fire into the gathered group. The Gnorc didn’t relent this time. He fired scale after regenerating scale. His green, slimy blood starting to spill and drip from the sores expanding from his flesh from him excreting so much virus. The minion Gnorcs who were still alive received several inoculations. The scales protruded from their bodies like quills, and the viral overdose caused their bodies to grotesquely warp. Screaming in what sounded like pain and distress, the creatures swelled and their bones cracked. Limbs budded spontaneously from their bodies that fattened and oozed across the floor in a horrific, mutating blob; and if the heroes attempted to take cover, these crawling monstrosities would try to grab hold of them in their claws, tentacles, and teeth to assimilate them.

I didn't take the XP away from them, they just didn't keep track of the XP on their own. It is YOUR responsibility if you want your character to level.

Cloud halted his next swing when the loud blare of the Gnorc leader thundered throughout the arena. The nasty was having a tantrum, huffing and puffing like an overgrown child until the blonde warrior realized that there was much more to it. Gnasty Gnorc underwent a hideous mutation, transforming into an even greater threat. When the brute crossed his massive arms, Cloud saw his scaly protrusions flare outwards. The ex-SOLDIER’s eyes snapped over to Steve who had the throat of a Gnorc minion clenched in his right fist, while his left was cocked back but unmoving. The confused boxer was frowning at the larger Gnorc and didn’t seem to understand that he was in danger.

The blonde lunged toward Steve, his hand outstretched in his dive. The boxer was turning his head defensively, a single blue eye passing over his shoulder when he felt the swordsman’s hand clench about his shirt. Cloud’s bodyweight crashed into him, causing the two to tumble as Gnasty started firing off his black scabs. Cloud held his large buster sword before them. The scabs pinged off the colossal blade, unintentionally ricocheting away from the two fighters as they collapsed in a heap on the ground. The Gnorc Steve had had a hold of went squealing and rolling across the floor. The swordsman was prone across the boxer, shielding him with his body while his buster sword rested next to them like a slab of cover.

When the fire subsided, Cloud released Steve’s shirt and pressed his hand into the floor next to the boxer’s head. Both men were avoiding eye-contact for regardless if the stunt had been a necessary save, it didn’t spare the awkwardness. The grunting and wild snarling of a Gnorc who had a black spade-shaped scale implanted in its warty behind drew the attention of Cloud and Steve as they watched the creature roll and writhe on the ground. Gnorcs were flailing about on the ground, mutating into creatures that were no longer silly and harmless in appearance but vicious and nightmarish.

The ex-SOLDIER quickly rose to his feet, hefting his great sword. His blonde brows converged on his forehead over blue-green eyes that gleamed with DETERMINATION. He gazed at the twitching, snarling, and drooling uglies that were rising off the floor in a circle around him and Steve like weeds. Fox managed to burn through a row of them, while shooting at the biggest of the uglies. He told Steve to leave, and Cloud couldn’t agree more. It wasn’t because he didn’t think Steve could handle himself but that the boxer hadn’t been vaccinated like the rest of them. He expected the Brit to protest and so added, “If those scales had struck you, you would be looking just like them. I agree with Fox. Leave this to us. We’ll try not to make too much of a mess.”

Cloud raised his blade upon his shoulders and walked over to join the group of protagonists who were about to get nasty with Gnasty Gnorc.

I'm assuming that this is the first AVALANCHE under Eifé? Wutai War's over, so this should be post the Genesis mass defections yeah?

The time period is going to be a little original as I am mostly going to be following the PSX game to "an extent." We're not following it to a T. See this more as an original take on the story because it's going to be what we make of it.

Also interested. My character idea is either a Gunslinger/Sniper hybrid or a straight up Dragoon style fighter, not sure which one would fit in more. I know I'd like to call dibs on Bahamut for the Dragoon, but if I went with the first idea... I don't know, maybe Bahamut again. I don't know the FF7 summons nearly as well as the other games in the series.

Eh, I'm going to put up the CS soon so just brainstorm over it as you develop the character. I'll reserve Bahamut for you just in case.
