Shiranui followed Hala and the others.
"I understand, Hala," Shiranui replied after receiving his Z-Ring. He was no stranger to following traditions having grown up in a place steeped in Far Eastern culture and briefly considered the notion of bringing along the Pokémon that inspired him to go on his journey. He spotted a circular recess on his Z-Ring that would hold a Key Stone at the opposite point of where the active Z-Crystal would go and felt glad he wouldn't have to wear both his Mega Ring and his Z-Ring on his journey through Alola and subsequent regions.
Liam told Sashia that he wasn't planning on using Dragonite for the battle. He decided to go out and do some training to prep for the battle.

Shiranui added that he never planned on using Saisei for a Grand Trial.
Shiranui handed his Sparkling Stone over.
"Seems the guardian has taken a liking to Liam." Chuck said, as Sludge climbed on his head once more.

"That doesn't surprise me," replied Shiranui, "From what I read about the guardian deities, Tapu Koko is the easiest to get along with due to its curiosity and being the most extroverted of the guardians."
Shiranui looked around and didn't see Chuck in their midst. "I hate to interrupt this discussion, but where is Chuck?" he asked.
Shiranui was psyched up for his first Grand Trial. His research into Kahuna Hala told him that he specialised in Fighting-type Pokémon. "I'll probably need to stick with Ashika and Ikari as Okami has a type disadvantage and the rest of my party are too powerful," he thought.
"Alola," Shiranui greeted back after entering the lobby, grabbing a muffin himself. Okami was with him and gave Maui a greeting bark.
Shiranui woke up with Okami snuggled in the crook of his arm, excited to get his Sparkling Stone converted.
Shiranui also agreed to going back to the hotel. He was fascinated by Lycanroc's different forms and wondered what form Okami would evolve into.
