Bio
Greetings,
I am Jb; Briton by birth, roleplayer by my own hand, and lover of literature. I am also an amateur historian, a receiver of a Bachelors degree in Ancient and Medieval History - quite a useless degree, actually - and would like to think that I'm a fair, honest and open guy.
As far as RP'ing goes, I'm pretty open to most things really, all you need to do is ask! :)
So, if you've ever any questions for me, wish to speak about RP's involving myself or run by myself, or simply feel like a chat, don't be afraid to get in touch.
@BCTheEntity Your opinion is noted on the matter of dice. :)
Let me just tell you how much I dislike Sapeth, and that is quite a lot, which is a testament to your skill as a writer to make him ooze so much arrogance that I actually don't even like reading about his up-his-arse attitude.
Of course I'll read it though, it's written by you and I need to know everything in my RP, so well done.
Well, this seems like a departure from my normal preference for Guard/Dark Heresy/Black Crusade shenanigans among other W40k stuff. Count me in.
Well, you are called Eisenhorn - little wonder that you share my own preferences when it comes to types of RPs. I too enjoy a good DH or OW role-play, but I thought I'd try something different.
A Naval RP is something I've seen a few people try on the forum, but so far I've not seen any of them get very far; I hope I can change that. We'll see.
Arassel came into the fray like a fury, a sound issuing from her throat like the blending of a screeching bird and the roar of a wild cat, all leaves and swirling brush as she wielded her leaf-bladed sword in one hand and grasped her flint axe in the other - one to be used for the killing blow and the other to be used as a parrying weapon, all this excitement causing her to seemingly forget the bow and quiver that also dangled from her body as she moved toward the leaner of the bandits approaching Zin and the Vretonnian.
Her cry and appearance both had clearly caused the whippet of a man some alarm, his head jerking around just in time for him to bring up the ill-kept shield and avoid having his head caved in. This did little to perturb the woodland Elf though, her steps swift and light as she looked for an opening against her opponent, the man clearly versed in combat and wisely keeping his shield close to his body and his own blade ready to strike out.
It was when she finally stood still for two moments that he made his move, punching forward with the bulk of his shield in an attempt to knock her from her feet, his sword lunging toward her, but by the time he stopped his own momentum she was no longer there! Indeed he hadn't even seen her move, the hawkish rogue twisting about and away as something hissed just past his ear, a tattooed face close enough for him to see the way the green had been placed into swirling grooves chiselled into flesh, and he bought his shield back to the guard once more.
"Stand and fight, you pixie scum!" He managed to yell over the din of battle, his attention now not wavering from her, something that could potentially be his undoing...
As the mass-producer of 40K RPs on this forum, why was I not told of this?!
In all seriousness though, if you ever need anyone/anyone drops out, then feel free to contact me and my services shall be given. To this RP and the God-Emperor.
Until then, I shall lurk in the shadows and marvel at everyones fine writing!
Sweeps his grimdark cloak and backs away into a shadowy nook somewhere.
Err, since you did not reply, is the edit I did to my character I sent via PM alright?
Aaaaaand done.
I'll get this going soon (probably the Monday of next week, just to start on a week beginning and to give people time to get their characters in!) So everyone please be patient, and be ready for when I give y'all a mention.
Okay, to clarify, I did mean the following morning - as in everyone should get some rest, before we mosey on out.
It would appear that most of our characters are heading toward the tavern anyway, so if anyone wants to get some character development in before we set off for the East, now would be as good a time as any.
Sapeth will, of course, be escorted everywhere by a cadre of armed guards at all times....unless he decides to apologise to the King, maybe.
As for the dice-rolls, I could probably set up a rudimentary system that would add in some flavour if/when it comes to combat. Probably will avoid modifiers, just for ease of use and simplicities sake.
Phant turned just in time to see the machinery, and indeed to see Nakera, begin to short circuit; he felt the heat and shards of metal and glass hit him at various points, his thick clothing and armour protecting him from the worst of it, a large shard hammering off of his helmet in a mirror of his previous head injury all those years ago.
"....Aaah...we gotta go NOW!"
The Krieger gave a nod to Kaicero as he dusted himself down with one gloved hand, slinging his las-gun over one shoulder and advancing on one side of the tech-adept; as gently as they could, the two mercenaries - the veteran and the adrenaline seeking fop - lifted the bleeding form to her feet and guided her out into the corridor.
Standing there were three of the other guns-for-hire, one clutching the pirate captain's de-activated power sword as she made the argument for returning to the drop pods.
"That won't work," breathed the Guardsman as she finished, "the pods are designed for swift insertion, there is no way to back them or us out of here."
It was then that a small crackle hissed in the ear-pieces of every surviving member of the mercenary band, each given an ear-comm before the mission had began, and now each being contacted on the same channel.
"This is Ordos Thran gun-cutter seven-two-five," came the deep voice of one of the conglomerates pilot, "we are making our descent now, please make your way to the roof and prepare for departure."
Kaicero couldn't help but smile, something Phant would have done if he had been emotionally able, and after looking to each of the group he spoke again - "well, shall we go."
Outside of the colony the weather was terrible, the wind roaring and howling about them, the gun-cutter a mass of metal and flaring engines as it came to land on the square rooftop of the comm-hub building. Figures in yellow carapace and duller yellow fatigues emerged from the belly of the ship, weapons held at the ready, their masked face betraying nothing but their agitated hand gestures beckoning the group over to the growling machine and up the ramp.
Within the hold there was enough room for all the mercenaries that had been sent down, and more even, but it appeared that only a fraction of their number would leave the colony - some having reappeared as the ship landed to join up with their small group.
Phant only let go of the injured Nakera when he was asked by a stern-looking medicae, giving her up grudgingly and taking a seat from where he could see the death throes of the settlement; it went up like a ball of plasma, which it essentially what it was at that point, the reactors finally giving in and vaporising everything that the Ordos Thran had worked so hard to achieve, as the cutter swung up into the atmosphere and back toward the void of space.
So, part one is over...I hope you enjoyed it, and now we can move on to bigger and hopefully better things.
Feel free to post yourself hauling backside to the cutter, taking a relaxing beverage on the cutter, waiting for all of it to blow over (or up).
Soon enough we'll be back in action, so also feel free to wait until I make another post - essentially the debriefing post - or post before that.
