Bio

Greetings,

I am Jb; Briton by birth, roleplayer by my own hand, and lover of literature. I am also an amateur historian, a receiver of a Bachelors degree in Ancient and Medieval History - quite a useless degree, actually - and would like to think that I'm a fair, honest and open guy.

As far as RP'ing goes, I'm pretty open to most things really, all you need to do is ask! :)

So, if you've ever any questions for me, wish to speak about RP's involving myself or run by myself, or simply feel like a chat, don't be afraid to get in touch.

@Andreyich They are mentioned as a disparate people, some still serving in the Guard, while others live isolated across the Imperium. I'm not adverse to the idea, I simply fail to see why you'd bother having a Squat when a broad and bearded (or not) human would do just as well...

If you're really all that keen though, and can come up with a good reason why they'd be part of the Emperor's Glorious Navy, then I'll consider it.

@Eisenhorn Indeed, sounds like a good plan!
@Andreyich Not really, especially considering that Squats no longer exist as a people in the 40K universe; is this because you want to use your character from the other RP?
@boomlover@Andreyich@Flagg@Eisenhorn

Okay, zo, what I have so far is that this will remain an RP of the Imperial Navy - just with some stretches in authority and so on and so forth; alongside this we can, as Eisenhorn rightly pointed out, cater for both sides.

While I would prefer a singular ship, if you do want a smaller escort vessel of your own, then speak up now. For 'reasons' I would dissuade people from it, but I wont put my GM foot down if someone desperately wants their own ship.

The ship we're crewing, as I've mentioned, is a new prototype vessel created at the dawn of the 42nd Millennia for deeper exploits into uncharted space, but also a balance between the bulk and speed of a Frigate-class vessel while being able to pack more of a punch than the usual long-range scout/escort ship - I'll get the actual specs and dimensions up once the OOC is done, as well as what positions will certainly need filling aboard the ship.

If you have any questions before then, please feel free to ask.
@boomlover If you can start spelling Captain as it is written, then you never know... :P I joke, but is English not your first language? It's not a problem, I'm just curious.

@Ollumhammersong Well thank you, Ollum - yes, I see you're dug deep into that Dark Heresy RP and others. Emperor's Blade seems like a cool cat, and thank you again for the moral support.

You're obviously all on board and accepted, so I'll get this going on Monday - or I'll at least give it a shot! - so I'll thank you now for your patience.

Anyone else, get your app in now or forever hold your piece, the RP goes 'Full' on Monday.

Oh, and Manatee is also my Co-GM; so if I disappear off the face of the planet, please defer to him.

I would rather be navy than rogue trader. Captains in an imperial squadron would be cool if we could pull it off. With one of us (probably GM) as commodore or admiral on a flagship.

Got there before me, but I do agree, although it wouldn't necessarily be me as overall commander; in fact the overall command would likely be a distant and far-away figure off on a star-fort/battleship somewhere.
Okay, here is what I have to say on the 'everyone a captain' thing;

How large do we want the scope/scale of the RP?

Everyone aboard one vessel is just easier to control than everyone having their own ship - although maybe not - as well as what we intend to do I.E. More space battles and flying about over conversation and the like, just a bit harder to keep contacting one another aboard different craft.

'Too many cooks' argument is, of course, that too many Caps could either make it a bit more interesting or a lot worse for those involved, at least without someone even higher ranked at the top.

What I will say is that if we were each to command our own vessel, in an Imperial Navy setting, then it would likely be as one of a few that make up an Imperial 'Wolf Pack' of Escort-class vessels - much like the German U-Boats, and not as Captains of vast and hulking battleships.

Now I'll wait for other opinions.
@Jbcool Just that rogue trader offers you a slight more freedom rp wise in shit to do. and while epic battles in space are always on the imperial navy's menu. It lacks that freedom it has. Also can we all play as captians in a fleet? that would be goddam sweeeet !!

Good question...

I'll wait to see what others have to say first though.
@Jbcool in all honesty. It would be like fifty times better if you went with rogue trader rp.

I personally feel that Rogue Traders can be somewhat overrated, although I'd not be adverse to doing another one (already went with two in the past, you see), I just think being aboard an experimental and deep-space vessel of what would essentially be a military-class and sanctioned ship could be different but also quite fun; no one seems to like the Imperial Navy, and I know it's because a Rogue Trader is more-or-less a blend of an Inquisitor mixed with a Naval and Guard commander.

I was thinking something more like Hornblower or Master & Commander, if that makes any sense to you.

@Eisenhorn@Andreyich@Flagg, what say you about this?
