Bio

Hey all, JB here.

I'm a DM for a large number of games here on RPG, as well as a player in several others. Many of the games I run are overly complex, or they involve Dungeons and Dragons (which is also overly complex!).

I work 40+ hours a week, and am the proud father of two tiny terrors named Chibi and Chibette and married to my beautiful Wifey. As such, I am quite busy more often than not. I typically write 2-5 paragraphs per reply and try to maintain an excellent level of grammar. If you noticed me glancing at your profile, I probably was looking to see if you would be a good match for my RPing style. Even if I didn't send a PM to you, feel free to send one back!

I enjoy 1x1 RPs and small groups. I'm fond of medieval, steampunk, and futuristic settings, and I'll jump into romance, adventure, and slice of life RPs fairly quickly, although supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc) RPs get old for me pretty quickly. If you're looking for an RP partner and I've glanced at your profile, then I'm most likely willing to give it a shot, but decided against PMing you because I'm actually kinda shy. But I'm always looking for a new friend!

Please feel free to say hi at any time!

“The supervision of such a construction would take far too long,” Ceraun replied simply. “We do not wish to inconvenience your crew with such a monumental and time-consuming chore. However, we have an Embassy-class ship that we would need to provide some minor alterations, such as removing offensive armaments or classified material." She gestured haphazardly, showing an air of dismissive uncaring. “Once we have done so, I invite your inspectors to look over the ship as thoroughly as they desire, and we shall accommodate code requirements as specified. If you provide them ahead of time, we can further reduce the time your team will waste."

Ceraun glanced through the document before her, selecting various offending sections and bringing them to the attention of the official. "And finally, you stated that you do not wish to share research? As a scientist first, I find this a sad revelation." Ceraun sighed as she folded her hands on the table before her, seemingly taking on the appearance of a schoolteacher. She spoke patiently, her voice alluding to factual explanation rather than patronization, although her mental processes tended toward the opposite. "Our databanks contain petaquads of information regarding star charts and geological data of thousands of worlds outside your system, plus the cultural specifications of hundreds of intelligent species your government has never dreamed of, plus their technological achievements, military accomplishments, and other very pertinent data. The public information is a mere start. If your cultural leaders wish to gain the knowledge we hold, we shall need a quid pro quo. Until that point, our data remains confidential."

“I am inclined to agree with the Doc here, if you will not share your research with us, we will not be sharing ours with you,” Drekavac stated calmly, “It is a real shame as well seeing as we have managed to synthesize many different medicines thanks to the information that we have received. Maybe you can persuade them to share their information with us so we can share ours with them? It is only fair after all, no alliance can work properly if only one member is sharing information. After awhile it becomes entirely too one sided.”

I think I have found my soul mate.

Brandon was beginning to feel a bit overwhelmed as several things happened at once. First, Amelia agreed to join his team, then revealed an absolutely stunning swimsuit that left him speechless. The silence didn't last long before it was punctuated by a cannonball and its accompanying tidal wave that crashed down on Brandon. He looked up just in time to see Rose and her brother had joined the fun. "Hey, how's it going?" he said with a grin, wiping the water from his face.

"Who said you could get started without me?"

Brandon cringed as the sickening sound of a full-force belly flop resounded, the water once again splashing over him. He wiped the water away before swimming forward to make sure the blur was okay, but his concern was unfounded. Once he realized it was Anna, he knew she could swim circles around him, even if she were weighed down with a parka.

Brandon's grin then faded slightly as he caught sight of Jocelyn's lime green bikini. If a swimsuit was ever designed to turn heads.... Brandon forced himself to look away after a few seconds. He must be one of the luckiest nerds alive to have friends this beau--

That was about the point when Anna began stripping in front of Brandon. For several seconds, his mind went completely blank as he tried to register what was going on. Sure, she had clothing underneath, but even that information took Brandon's brain a bit longer than normal to process. He doubted Anna even noticed him despite his proximity. If she did, she would very likely see the deepening red flush passing over his cheeks. Finally, after what seemed like an eternity, Brandon's mind finally rebooted itself, allowing him to speak. "I uh... I hope you didn't have your phone in there," he said quietly. Brilliant opener, Brandon.

I can't seem to find the discord link? And I'll probably enter at the front door :)

I think we actually may have removed it because someone had jumped in when they shouldn't and spammed us... Sadly, I am currently unable to generate a link for some reason. I'll get one to you somehow though!

You know you're in an adventuring party when someone runs off to flip a switch without telling anyone else what they're doing. The movement of the floor caught Mara off balance, and she was halfway out the hole when she heard the calls coming from behind her.

”The roof is false ya’ gits!”

Mara froze for a moment. If the roof were fake, that meant that the platform moving upwards was probably intended for something. Maybe it was a pile of treasure waiting for them, or it could be some answers to why they were there. It likely wasn't another exit, seeing as they had an easy way out directly in front of them, but Mara was also keenly aware that the others in her squad had been better at solving problems than she was. And so, despite barely knowing these potentially back-stabbing idiots who stood around in a room, she had a decision to make.

They had little reason to lie to her. Even if they for some reason already hated Mara (not uncommon with some races, it seemed), telling her to stay inside would only result in everyone dying were the roof actually real. What purpose would that serve, other than to add others to their misery? Some people were sadistic enough for that, but most would instead try to force their way past the genasi and get out first. No one seemed to be moving in her direction, and so, the genasi decided to trust her instincts.

She reached out of the hole and grabbed the other barbarian by the scruff of his neck, hauling him back inside, apparently catching him off-guard. "Git in here, ya idjit," she said as she yanked on the goliath. "No worries. The roof is fake." Mara pointed towards the ceiling before looking around at what everyone else had been doing. The fairy who had previously occupied the corner next to Mara had flown up towards the ceiling, and her hand appeared to phase through it. As soon as Mara saw this, the illusion began to fade as she could see another room above her. Mara let out a sigh of relief, thankful that she had chosen right, but still concerned with the sudden changes to the room. "Hey, if any on y'all are fiddlin' with stuff, you can cut it out at any time!" Mara called out, hoping the panic weren't evident on her voice.

How shall I come in?

We could probably discuss that on Discord, but we're all at a pool party right now. You could take @Lunatik's tactic and bellyflop into the pool as your entrance, or you could enter another way. The front door has butlers and maids to take your luggage and show you your room as well.

Kiki remained at her post in front of the goblins, even as the barbarian began his butchering spree. She watched with a look of disgust evident on her face, obviously reconsidering her earlier conclusion as to the demise of the horse. She said nothing as the barbarian hacked away, collecting his meat and bones. The people here sure had some odd customs.

However, as the barbarian spouted his anger at M, her hand tightened its grip on her rapier. He then turned his wrath to her, which immediately brought the rapier up to point at the half-orc's nose. "I may not understand your customs, Barbarian, but I do know my own country's proper etiquette. I am in no one's charge but my own. I suggest you do not dispute that, for I will fight to my death to preserve my freedom, and that of those who have kept me safe." Her eyes narrowed as she stared down the half-orc that towered over her. She kept her blade at the ready, but thankfully the barbarian had not yet decided to approach.

The bard that had sidled alongside her changed his shape, momentarily catching Kiki off guard. She had heard of shapechangers before, but had never yet encountered one. "Fearsome may be the intention, but I am no Guild member as of yet," she replied, still not taking her eyes from the hulking green man before her. "The Thieves' Guild of Halruaa was a good place to go if you wished your thieving days to end. They would recruit you for dangerous missions, send you first into a den of traps, and when the mountain collapsed on you, they would take your gear and leave, laughing the whole way until they could find a new thief. I prefer 'rogue' as my title."

Kiki felt a gentle hand on her head as healing energy flowed into her. "Thanks a million," Kiki muttered. "I think half of that blood was my own, though. Sorry for making you waste a spell on me."
@ineffable Thanks for your interest! The profile looks good to me. If you look back through the thread, you will see a link for our Discord. We do a lot of our planning there, if you would like to join us.

Shaddup...

The light and noises filtered in, attempting to interrupt the snores of the final member of the crew as she lay on the slab. Her mind was elsewhere as she dreamed, a story of valor and bravery wherein, of course, she was the sole heroine. Her warhammer blazed with glory as it cleaved through a dozen angry wargs, her own dire wolf companion Sven pressing her forward. Sven leapt over a chasm filled with fire, and several of the pursuing canines tumbled into the gaping maw of the abyss, yelping in pain as the flames consumed them. Mara chuckled as she turned to watch a handful of the wargs make it over the canyon, snarling and snapping their jaws at her. A primordial word "Skryvat" was uttered, and her stony visage began to subtly change, matching the shade of the earth around her. The dire wolf rounded a bend in the road and they leapt into the trees, hiding as the wargs blew past them.

"Dumbass mutts, ya Sven?" she muttered, a grin widening across her lips. Her eyes fluttered open to see a half dozen people standing around in a room. Her head felt heavier than normal, and she was clad in naught but a robe. Beneath them somewhere came the sounds of grinding gears, and she caught the tail end of a conversation about an escape. Mara lifted her head, and something caught. Her hand moved to investigate, and she felt a tube protruding from the spot where her neck met her skull. Grasping hold of the tube, she yanked with all her might, wincing at the minor pain as a clear fluid gushed over the back of her head. For a moment, she felt like collapsing backwards onto the slab she had awakened from as the world went numb, but as she felt the wound on the back of her head, it seemed to close on its own. The dizziness dissipated and she sat up, looking around at her compatriots. "I ain't be tethered down fer long," she growled, finally finding her feet under her as she stood up. "Ya wants to escape? Less do it then."

Mara's eyes closed as she felt the air around her, her thoughts drifting to the advice of her father. She nodded slowly, and without opening her eyes, stepped to the left. Her hand was outstretched as she felt the air flowing over her fingertips, and then her eyes opened as a grin appeared. Suddenly, a fist shot out towards the wall, smashing a great hole in it. Her foot followed, crashing through the wall and leaving gap about the size of her fist. She glanced through the crevasse she had created to see a void on the other side. "Huh. Looks like night out in the country."

She stepped back from the wall and glanced around at the others. "Name's Mara. Let's kick some walls down, ya? Who be with me?!"

Ryobi let out a sigh of relief as nothing dangerous happened as he entered. The comm could still be a trap, although it was likely difficult to subtly rig it for anything more than a minor shock. More likely at this point, it would be used either as a way for the other side to communicate with them, or it was left in a hurry. That, or it was a way for the enemy to pinpoint their position.

Ryobi glanced around the room. Medical equipment was scattered around, most of which was beyond Ryobi's limited area of expertise. He had received minor training as a field medic, not as a doctor. Still, nothing immediately screamed out of the ordinary about the room. The comm device seemed normal as well. Ryobi picked it up, but didn't touch the power switch. "Let's get someplace safe," he called back to Jan. "Somewhere other than here. Maybe there's a message or some other purpose, but I don't want to stick around next to a homing beacon."
