Also some signs are kind of obvious.
Umm..... thats a bit of a jump there. If you are going to have Avery experience emotional pain that would give him an emotional link. And it might help him figure out some things. But I don't see how that would help him determine what sign a person has. The signs aren't necessarily linked to emotions. The signs are linked to power but Avery would have no way to know what that link is. He could know the power in some cases but that wouldn't necessarily tell him what sign the person has.
