I think it'd be really cool if Teknall took up Chemistry/Alchemy to carry on the mantle of Occult left behind by Mammon's absence. The alchemy could be the result of Teknall's logical approach to teaching mortals (maybe through Gerrik's eventual replacement?) the secrets of the Occult. Of course, the voodoo-alchemy would come into being because they'd of course mess up the formulas and experiment on their own and make all sorts of crazy potions. It'd be great.

Edit: In any case, the alchemy theme is much more fitting for the current setting. What would you be doing with electricity anyways now that we're barely into the bronze age?

Y u forget Belru?

YYYYYYYYY?

Wait. Is Belru...

@Double Capybara Forging is an action done to the Metal, it is different from Metal. As a Crafting god, Teknall's chief power is not over actual things (metal, stone, wood, etc.) but over the ability to manipulate those things and fashion them in a certain way. I don't think it's limiting in any way.

Now, Crafting and Beauty are two very different kinds of domain. Crafting is relatively straightforward imo, whereas Beauty is far more abstract. But as I say, what's discussion for?

Edit: just to clarify, this is me speaking as a fellow player in an attempt to contribute to the delineation of some things regarding Domains (Portfolios) rather than dictating as a GM. If you have another view, feel free to say
So long as the introduction of the portfolio fits in neatly with the plot. Personally I'd rather the gift made the 3 Might inclusion cost free while the unlocking steps still have to be performed, but I don't actually mind.

That would make more sense story-wise, I agree. Perhaps it BBeast and Mutton should write a post or two, however short, or have portions of upcoming posts which refer to them experimenting with whatever Portfolio they plan on assuming, though not necessarily spending Might on them.

Plus, things like Mutton's Oaths are not out of the blue - Toun has been into that stuff for a while, especially with his Calligraphy portfolio and Oath of Sularn. As for Teknall, he's been doing all kinds of Crafting - from Urtelem ot Ull's divine weapon - so there are a wide range of Portfolios which he can assume without producing a storyline anomaly.

If @Frettzo or @Scarifar or anyone else is interested in taking the Magic Items portfolio, then they can have it instead. I have plenty of prospective Portfolios to choose from. But while Teknall might be our resident technology god, he is also the god of Crafting, and has an intimate knowledge of all the things the gods (except Vowzra) wrote on the Codex including magic. Making magic items falls within the reach of Crafting and within his capabilities.

Perhaps, as Frettzo said, it would be best to take the stance that something like the 'Magic Items' portfolio falls under both Crafting and Magic. That is not to say that Teknall cannot create magical items anyway with the Universe's intrinsic magic energies, or that Astarte or Niciel (or Belruarc! You forgetters, you!) cannot enhance weapons by imbuing them with the Universe's magic or their own particular brand, but for any of them to assume the 'Magic Items' portfolio they would require both Crafting and Magic domains.

Either way, Magic Items are so generic and universal to gods that it's difficult to see what difference having a portfolio over them would make, other than making it possible for Teknall to craft them and imbue them with magic without spending one Might or a Free Point.

Looking at the others you're considering though, the only ones I can see having potential issues are Electricity and Metal.
Electricity is just energy, difficult to claim it under a Crafting domain - though there is no denying that Teknall could craft things which enable him and others to manipulate Electricity (perhaps an Electricity Manipulation portfolio? I feel there may be a better way of putting it ^^').
As for Metal, it probably falls under more of an Earth domain, though something like Metal Crafting doubtlessly falls under a Crafting domain, just as Wood would (xD) fall under an Earth/Nature domain, but Wood Carving would fall under a Crafting domain, or Stone Carving (!! isn't that very important at the city-building stage of civilisation?)

In any case, Domain (Portfolios) are inherently flexible and there are a lot of grey areas, but what's discussion for, eh?

You have just ignited the flame that will kill millions. Or thousands. Whatever are current global population for Galbar is at the moment.

I also found out that I was a Fascist/Nazi today. Was planning the take over of southern Africa with a friend and expressed the clear need for and authoritarian governmental system and a slave class (Ideas Termite solidified in my head).

30 years from now, you will hear in the knews of the nation of Lokileoistan born from most of south Africa.

:P

Just make sure to credit Termite and me, 'cause we're the ones who inspired you to such feats of despotic and genocidal glory. Like, before every speech, just say 'this is for my mentors Termie and Kho,' or give a salute and scream 'FOR JVAN AND TOBIA!'
I guess the Oaths portfolio is looking pretty appropriate for Toun right now. I'll hold off on it for a little while, though.

Mind you, that's awful close to Belru's (Pacts)

It also gave me an idea for the hopefully near future.

Always happy to be the accidental muse xP

Everyone here has had to work hard to balance their RPing with real life and I don't see the point in rewarding someone for sticking with their hobbies. Being clear of that messy collab should be enough of a reward by itself.

Of course. Everyone works hard in the sense that they put effort into writing good quality pieces. It becomes a different sort of effort when there is far more than that going on. If collabs such as that were just about you sitting down and putting effort into writing something, no collabs would ever fall apart. It takes a lot more from a player to stay dedicated to a collab at the best of times, so it is only natural that a collab whose conditions were far less than ideal should be rewarded in some way - as a symbol that we recognise the extra effort that went into it behind the scenes, and the patience, perseverance, and mental endurance it took.

And as I take particular pride in the Divinus community, and as I feel this group is far more tightknit than any RPing group I have been with in a very long time, I think that kind of recognition and support is not only possible to pull off (it takes a hell of a lot of trust for other players to understand and accept such seemingly arbitrary moves from a GM after all), but is warranted.
@Muttonhawk Rtron claims that he eventually gave up on putting up with some of the things happening. And, at the risk of offending Kang again (sorry Kang, truly truly, don't be annoyed T-T) we think giving him something would be self-defeating.

Edit: not one to beat about the bush much, am I
