Pokemon: Coming of Age

“I hope you’re right. I just don’t want to have to be stuck with someone who needs to be handled to make them bearable.”

Samantha was glad she seemed to be starting things off with the right foot with one of her partners at least. She was hoping to make a few friends along the way on this adventure and it would be a pretty bad sign of things to come if she couldn’t even get along with the people she was supposed to work with.

She smiled at the Abra in Eddy’s arms, the little Pokémon dozing away as the Psychic types always seemed to be. Turning towards the food table she raised a hand and beckoned Terry to come closer, the adorable Grass type trotting over curiously and finding himself suddenly lifted into the air and placed on his trainers lap. “This is Terry; I just got him from the Professor.

“So should we get out of here and take a look around town while we wait for Miss evening news to get cleaned up?”

Would etiquette require us to inform another player before we challenge their character, or should we just go for it? I can see the latter being more interesting but I don't want to force a duel on someone who isn't interested.

Hero: Shingo Taniguchi

Name: Shingo Taniguchi
Alias: Blazing Fist

Quirk: Give and Take – Shingo has the ability to generate a field around his hands and feet that can absorb and release kinetic energy. These fields take the appearance of a glowing orange aura which wraps around Shingo’s hands and feet and extends a couple inches past his wrist and above his ankles respectively; whenever an object strikes these fields most of the kinetic energy is stripped from that object, roughly 80%, and absorbed. Shingo is then able to release this stored kinetic energy at close range, often taking the form of a punch or kick with the respective field that the energy is being released from.

History: Growing up, Shingo always wanted to be a hero. He idolises tough, manly heroes like Crimson Riot or Endeavour and wanted to become like them, someone who protects the innocent by defeating villains and challenging them head on. Luckily, he has a quirk that allows him to do just that.

Shingo has spent a long time training both his quirk and his body, gradually increasing the amount of energy he can absorb and honing his fighting abilities to best leverage that power. He even attended and graduated from U.A. High School.

When it came time for him to go pro Shingo decided he would rather work solo than join a hero association, desiring to fight his battles only relying on himself and his quirk. Although this has led to some losses, some scars and some close calls, he still believes this was the right decision.

Other: Shingo has trained in a couple different martial arts over the years, primarily boxing, but wouldn’t call himself a master in any of them by any means.

Villain: Alina Volkov

Name: Alina Volkov
Alias: Likhoradka

Quirk: Gluttony – Alina’s quirk is both a mutation type and a power type. Her teeth are not normal human teeth, but rather a set of razor sharp, triangular teeth similar to that of a great white shark. In addition to this she has an extra appendage tucked inside her body that she can extend out of her mouth; her normal mouth can open wider than normal to accommodate this. This extra limb is 6 feet long when fully extended and ends in a second mouth 8 inches wide that can open a full 180 degrees. This appendage can extend and retract at blinding speed, often faster than the eye can see, and can bite with enough force to splinter bone and cut flesh, allowing Alina to snap up whatever it is she wants to eat before it even realises she has set her sights on it.

The second part of her quirk is the fact that anything swallowed by this second mouth does not go to her stomach, but is instead instantly digested and metabolised, though it still seems to sate her hunger somehow. This allows Alina to consume substances that most people cannot even imagine eating as well as being able to do so almost instantly. The more Alina consumes in this manner, especially anything containing protein and calcium, the stronger she gets; a well fed Alina is superhumanly strong and tough, has near endless stamina and can heal very rapidly. These enhancements diminish the longer she goes without eating in this manner, as the energy she absorbs from what she eats is used up, until she is no stronger than a regular person of her stature.

The third and final part of her quirk is that even the food eaten with her normal mouth is metabolised extremely fast, allowing her to absorb nutrients from food much quicker and heal at a faster than normal rate, as well as maintain a slim figure no matter what she eats. The downside of this is that she is always hungry.

Her family was poor and they lived a meagre existence; they could afford few luxuries, and everyone had to work their share, though food was always available and they were happy for the most part. When Alina first developed her quirk it seemed like a curse; it did nothing but grant her sharp teeth and burden her with a voracious appetite and her family was unable to cope with her increasing requests for more food.

The hunger was unbearable; the endless, maddening hunger. Alina began to waste away, her increased metabolism meaning that her body soon began cannibalising its own reserves to sustain itself. She would wander around town in a stupor, looking for something to eat, too weakened and too driven by hunger to do anything else. In this state it wasn’t long before desperation caused her to discover the other parts of her quirk.

The first time she used her second mouth it was to snatch food, a burger, out of the hand of a passer-by, reacting on instinct and moving so quickly that neither she nor her victim really knew what happened; it felt so good to eat something substantial that she didn’t even notice that she had also grabbed two of his fingers as well.

With her newfound abilities Alina found that she didn’t have to go hungry any longer. She could eat anything she wanted; anything alive at least, it was all in her reach. She started with wild animals; birds, squirrels, rats, even the occasional fox or rabbit that could be found in the woods on the edge of the town. She would disappear for hours at a time, her family was concerned, but she always seemed to come home safe and sound and she was no longer wasting away so they gave her freedom; she was a teenager now after all, they kept strange hours sometimes.

It wasn’t long before peoples pets began to disappear.

It was perhaps only by chance that a vigilante found her; probably just passing through town, since someone like that wouldn’t be in her town just investigating some missing animals. Vigilante was the right word, or maybe bounty hunter, since you couldn’t call what he did for a living heroic. He found her one night in an alleyway, resting after her last meal with the remains of it still on her face.

They found the pieces of him in the morning.

Alina moved to Japan soon after, having outgrown her small town somewhat, which contained a significantly smaller number of people now compared to when she first developed her quirk. She hoped that by moving somewhere larger and more populated she might find someplace more fun than her humdrum little Russian town; someplace with lots of delicious food to eat, with a thriving nightlife. Someplace with a soft underbelly where the heroes are a little softer than those found in the Motherland.

Other: Her alias comes from the name of a one-eyed creature in Slavic mythology which takes the form of an old hag. It has little to do with her quirk, but since she had one eye and likes to think of herself as the stuff of nightmares, she found it fitting.
She lost her eye in a fight with a vigilante in her hometown. He lost a lot more.
Motto: No matter how strong you think you are there’s always someone higher up the food chain than you.

After much anticipation, I present to you my hero.

Here is the second draft of my villain. I have updated her quirk, so please take a look at that again, and added her history.

I'll start working on my hero now. Hopefully it won't take as long, though it'll probably still be tomorrow as I'm still not 100% on his quirk.

I like how you guys are drawing the line at murder, as if that is taking it too far, when the main villain of the series disintegrates people and Stain murdered dozens of people.

I'm starting to think that my villain idea might be too much. She was going to use her Quirk to ruin lives.
