Oberon awoke with a start, the sensation of plummeting towards his body ensuring that he got to enjoy his first few moments in this new form with a pounding heart and adrenaline coursing through his veins; it was not an experience he would recommend. He brought a hand to his face, vaguely noticing that it seemed a lot paler than it used to, covering his eyes and massaging his forehead to try and ease his not quite headache.

Everything between him selecting his evolution option and now was like a dream; hazy and half remembered, buried in fog yet tantalisingly within his reach. But while the memories themselves were mostly gone, the feelings they produced still remained; a sense of dread and the feeling that for some reason they really, really needed to leave this cave. Yet at the same time he knew that leaving would be dangerous as well.

”This Place does not...know you. But outside, the World...knows you do not belong”

”Unfortunately, this isn’t somewhere you want to stay. Hopefully most of you will make it out of here before…“

Something was happening in this cave, something big. Ever since they had killed Rattleskull and that message about this place becoming a dungeon had appeared. Now seemed like as good a time as any to think about leaving and with the Goblin’s missing a leader they could probably make it outside now.

He became aware of the presence of others when Mourningstar floated in front of his face, soon followed by the realisation that she was talking to him. She welcomed him back, said something about a slime trying to kill them and finding more humans, before saying that they needed to find Digbie and someone called Rain before leaving. Well, the last part of that he could definitely agree to and she was right that they couldn’t leave their Goblin friend behind; the rest they could sort out later.

Mourningstar approached a Goblin and Oberon followed, unsure what sort of developments had happened in the short time he was out and willing to just follow along for now. From the way the Goblin spoke it was clear she was human, not just from the uncharacteristic eloquence but also the reference to earthly events; he was a little unsure how Mourningstar would take being blamed for the events at the bonfire, but was glad to see her reaction was nothing too aggressive.

He stayed quiet for the time being, though he wasn’t too happy at being called her second in command, still trying to catch-up on recent events. How long had he been out for? Or had thinks changed so drastically so quickly because of whatever was happening to the cave? Soon they were joined by two… well, one Fanged Lizard and something else; both former humans as well by the sounds of it; he used Magic Analysis on whatever the other creature was as she spoke.

The trio left by themselves as soon as the Pygmy Drake had finished, the Goblin having already left and the others hurrying to catch up. Despite the offer, and Oberon’s instincts telling him to leave immediately, he knew he couldn’t leave without finding Digbie or trying to warn the others. He turned to Mourningstar, flying in front of her to get her attention.

“You should go with them, get out of the cave before whatever’s about to happen. I’ll go look for Digbie and bring him with me; Rain too, if you tell me what she looks like.”

@floodtalon
Kind of is, yes. Be it the three slots for actions on the cards, the use of a very limited number of attacks by any individual Digimon in the various anime, the use of the signature move slot in various video games (not so much the Digimon Story games on the DS, but more the earlier Digimon World games), and things of that nature.

Ok, not a problem. I'll stick to that number of techniques per stage.

Really though, any information like that should be in the template. I've only watched some of the anime series and that's it; Adventure, Adventure 2, Tamers and Savers. Even in a fanon RP not everyone is going to know all the details of the expanded canon.
Like Baby and In-Training Digimon have one Technique, Rookies typically have two, Champions have two or three, etc..

Ok; I would have liked that to have been clearer in the template. Is that an established thing in Digimon?
Nothing that telling. I was just offering the format without any unnecessary blank space. Although I would ask that you observe the maximum of four Techniques per Digimon scaled to level.

What do you mean by "scaled to level"?
@tobiax is there a reason why the Digimon template only had one technique per stage? Are supposed to only list their main attack and leave the others out or do they only get one technique?
twas the plan, but I'm fine with alterations if Cosmos is burning for it

I'll either make an anti-social jackass or an habitual liar. They're both only vague concepts right now anyway, so if you've already got a character ready I'll just take the latter.

I might need to change the Digimon I was planning though; the idea I have is better suited to the jackass.
@King Cosmos I don't have a strong preference one way or the other. I do really like to see character concepts though.

Ok, I'll try and get something up tomorrow. I'm thinking of taking the Crest of Friendship if no-one objects, or I could work with Sincerity otherwise.
@tobiax do you want us to start applying with characters now, or wait until the main thread is up?
As expected in this form his efforts didn’t amount to much. It seemed like he didn’t have access to his usual abilities in this astral form, nor could he call out to warn Mourningstar of the approaching Goblins, though it at least appeared as if people were coming to help in that regard.

The more he tried to move however, and the more he was denied, the more familiar the sensation holding him in place felt; it was similar to the way he had felt in the moments between his death in his old world and his rebirth into this one. An endless white expanse and a voice, something he had been through twice now thanks to his reliving it a couple days ago when he had tried to open his character sheet. This felt somewhat similar to that, though he had not tried to move around much back then; well, that only made sense since he had heard the Demon King’s voice earlier and this whole ordeal had begun once he’d selected his evolution.

What could he do with that information though? Knowing that the Demon King was responsible for this didn’t help him at all. The question was why was he stuck? And he was sure that he was stuck. Had something happened during the evolution process that had… halted it somehow? There was that error message after all.

Looking up at the ceiling of the cave, through the ceiling of the cave, Oberon called out in the hopes that the Demon King would hear him. “Hey, Demon King, why am I stuck here? Did something happen? I need to get back to my body; terminate the evolution for now if you can, I’ll try again later.”

As soon as he had spoken Oberon began to feel… something, looking at him. For a moment he thought that the Demon King had heard him and was responding, which would be the fastest he had ever gotten a turn around on a bug report in his life, until he realised that the sensation didn’t come from above, but rather from below him. Turning in that direction Oberon saw, or at least felt, a pair of piercing blue eyes focusing on him.

The thing, whatever it was, was deep underneath him in some lower part of the cave. The fact that whatever it was could perceive him in this form did not reassure Oberon in the slightest; neither did the thought that maybe it could interact with him in this form as well. Something told him that whatever this was, it was far stronger than anything else in this cave.

“Are you… are you the one causing this interference?”

@tobiax I'm interested.
