"Yeah it is." Kyle nodded and then added, "Same here. I did finish the Transfiguration essay last night though. I need to re-write it before I turn it in." Kyle slid into idle chatter easily. He pulled a needle out of his pocket. "This was a matchstick yesterday." The bell hadn't rung yet, and they were the first students into the classroom.

"Where do you want to sit?" Kyle figured front row would be best, it'd give Professor Snape the clearest view of them. But the idea of sitting in the front row always made Kyle a bit jumpy. He preferred a seat or two back.
I vote time skip.
Kyle entered the Great Hall, shoving the last book into his bag. He glanced around and spotted Siobhan. She was rubbing her eyes. He gave her a nod in greeting, then took his seat at the Slytherin table. Kyle ate quickly wanting to make sure he and Siobhan could get good seats. Part of their act had to be being close during DADA. Then making a huge scene after the class ended. He hoped they'd have a reason to make pairs. Or even better, if Snape had them break up into larger groups. Then Kyle could realistically know about the mudblood girl.

It is a sign of how Kyle was raised that he didn't even realize that he called her a mudblood. To him the word was as common as muggle, and more common than muggle-born. Only a distant part of him completely realized the implication of the word.

As soon as Kyle was done eating he crossed the great divide of the hall and joined Siobhan at her table. "You ready?" He grinned at her. He was just as excited as she was. He resisted giving any of the Gryffindors a friendly nod, couldn't let them think he was too nice.
Kyle unlike Siobhan stayed up and worked on the essay and the turning matchsticks to needles. He had no luck with the needles, until nearly nine. At that point he decided he was quite ready for sleep.

He woke up at nearly seven. Classes didn't start till nine and breakfast wasn't till eight. He lay in bed for a bit before finally getting up and getting ready. He made a point to leave his curtains open. If his sister was going to trap his bed again at least he'd have warning again.

Kyle was sitting in the common room, when his sister slid onto the couch next to him. "So little brother, sleep well?"

"Yeah, the beds here are rather comfortable." He didn't dare look up from his book.

"Are you going to do as asked?" Maggie asked Kyle without looking at him, she was gazing off and up through the windows into the lake.

"Yes." Kyle responded. He stopped reading, his heart pounded, what did Maggie want?

"Good." She stood up and strode out of the common room. Kyle glanced at his watch, close enough to breakfast. He gathered the books he'd need for the morning and left the Slytherin common room confused.
Kyle raced down to the common room. That was a terrible curfew, he decided, after the third wrong turn. Stupid hallways changed. Finally he found the section of wall that was the secret passage into the common room. He was considerably late and hoped Snape wasn't inside.

Kyle was lucky. He sighed relieved and went to his dorm room. Years of being surprised by his sister had given Kyle considerable reflexes. This was a good thing because as he opened the drapes to his bed, which he distinctly remembered having left open, Protego had already left his lips as what could only be described as a small explosion knocked him back. Kyle's spell was weak, but he had used it before. The explosion didn't seem to leave any mark of having happened. In fact if he hadn't been sitting on the ground he would have been certain he imagined it. That and Sam, sitting on his own bed, had slightly singed hair.

"What was that?" He asked coughing slightly.

"A trap from my sister." Kyle stood up and dusted himself off.

"You can do the shield charm?" Sam seemed impressed. Kyle was confused.

"Yeah," Kyle frowned. "When your sister lays magical traps around the house you learn quick how to protect against them. Keeps me on my toes she says." Kyle shrugged and climbed into his bed. Quiet honestly, Kyle had thought that had been tame. He wondered what message this was supposed to impart on him. He pulled his bag up onto the bed and started working on the essay again.
Well Elzbeth travels a lot.
Yeah, we could have our characters do a bit of interaction. I mean there are a considerable amount of us in there. It'd be easy enough. Especially after the introductions.
One of you could easily recognize say my character, knowing that she's often on stages doing her Fire Poi. Or something similar.
That's up for Kael to decide it they want to just move on or not. Maybe make note that they aren't there and might come along later *shrug*.
"That could work." He nodded. Then he agreed completely with planning being the worst. He was just about to say something when Madam Pince did just as Siobhan had feared she would and walked over to the pair of first years.

"First year curfew is at 7, you should both hurry back to your dorms." She gave them a suspicious look as they packed up their bags and headed for the exit.

"See ya tomorrow Siobhan." He gave her a grin that showed all his excitement at the coming up fight. How weird it was to be excited to be having a row with your best friend? He mused that over for a second.
Kyle returned her bright smile. He couldn't help it. He was impressed with her imitation of a snooty Slytherin. He had seen that look on several of the girls in his year. "I do a bit better on winging it. But we should have a basic outline of what we're going to say. I mean obviously I'll call you a blood traitor. I can say something about being Gryffindor. I've got a few insults saved up from Maggie."

Kyle chewed on his lip a little while he thought. "If you weren't pure blood there'd be some really good insults I could throw at you. I've heard a million in dad's shop." Kyle thought as he did so he twisted his feather quill around. "Hm to make the fight believable and one that won't seem weird if we're suddenly friends again afterward. I mean blood traitor is a harsh thing, but we can figure out the make-up later."
