Knock knockWho's there?You!You know who?

OMG
Kyle held his breath as he climbed the stairs. Near the top he knelt down so he could peer over the top step without being seen. His sister was blunt but her antics had taught him a high degree of caution. "They aren't there." He said just audibly. "I think they went further up."

Kyle slipped around the edge of the next section of stair. This one leading up to the fifth floor. He caught sight of robes disappearing around the corner up to the next flight. "They are still going up." He frowned. What was on the upper levels that they had any reason to be near during lunch break. They were way above the top library floor. Astronomy tower was off limits save for class time. The Slytherin dorms were in the dungeons. Kyle frowned and creeped up to the fifth floor. And yet still the older Slytherin was going up yet another flight of stairs. "The seventh floor. Isn't that where your dorms are? And the Ravenclaw dorms." Kyle couldn't think of anything else being on the seventh floor off the top of his head.
Sorry guess I didn't make it clear. Siobhan and Kyle are in a room on the third floor. Malfoy and Crabbe are headed up a set of stairs near that classroom to the 7th floor where the Room of requirements is.
"I don't know." Kyle responded, his voice just as hushed as Siobhan. "That was Malfoy though. He's a sixth year. Fast track Death Eater. Dad keeps trying to get him and Maggie to hook up, but they hate each other." Kyle paused and thought of the other things he had overheard sixth years talking about, but then his memory brought up that the voice that had answered Malfoy had not been Crabbe's.

"The second voice wasn't Crabbe. He's a big brute of a guy, he got on the Slytherin team this year as a beater. That voice belonged to a girl." Curiosity got to Kyle though. "Let's follow them."
"Yeah double potions." Kyle grimaces. "I think we have to manipulate her unseen. I mean it's already clear she doesn't like either of us, but we need her to make some sort of move that would cause us to unite. At this point I don't quite know what that would be. It has to be realistic." Kyle chews on his lip as he thinks. "Do you think we could get her to challenge us to a duel? But that doesn't give us a reason to be united against her." As Kyle was thinking on what might 'unite' them he heard soft footsteps. He pressed his finger against his lip, wishing he knew that spell that Alistair had used that first day.

"No Crabbe it's just until I can get it to work right." That's Malfoy voice. Kyle's eyes widened. A sixth year Slytherin with his two lackeys. Kyle trusted Siobhan to remain quiet, but what Kyle wanted to know was what Malfoy was trying to fix.

"It's stupid." A voice responded. The voice did not belong to either Crabbe or Goyel as Kyle recognized, but instead sounded like a girl. Kyle frowned and looked at Siobhan confused. Their footsteps faded and continued up the set of stairs the classroom they were in was next too.
Are you going to do it in alphabetical order?
Kyle didn't want to worry about what his sister was up to, more than necessary. She was sneaky enough that he kept an eye on her for his own safety. For now though Kyle was too confused by Siobhan's look to try to decipher it. He moved onto the subject of Professor Snape's behavior happily.

"I'm not too sure honestly. He doesn't seem as angry as I've heard him described. I mean he snaps a bit and takes out his bad mood on everyone but Slytherins. He's not like any of the other professors who seem much more fair." Kyle thought for a moment. "And when he forces us to work together it's like he's trying to make us be friends. None of the other professors seemed moved by our fight. At least not that I've noticed. Maybe he's taken a special interest because we did it in front of him."
Rowen
Rowen watched the amulet float toward her. She thought of the villagers below her home and her mother's promise to them. When her mother had died Rowen too had promised the villagers that she would do as she could to watch out for them. That very day she had warned them of a fire. The fire happened, but it was put out much quicker than it may have if she had not been there. Would someone watch out for her villager while she was gone? She had no family left except those lovely people in the small village that traded her food for her expertly tanned furs.

She had known coming here would take her away from them for a while, but that had been a feeling not a vision. The difference minute enough that she didn't always trust her feelings as well as her visions. Rowen's fingers wrapped around the amulet. She would go for the memory of her mother's wishes and the villagers she had sworn to protect. "I will do as requested." Rowen gave them a bow as her mother had taught her, her mother who had once worked for the crown long before Rowen had been born, and therefore knew their rules of decorum.

The others in the room took their amulets for various reasons, but the Lady had chosen well they would all take the amulet. Rowen's heart went out to the Water Mage Mia. The girl's loss was apparent in her face as she asked those before them for her boon. Rowen wondered what her boon would be. She had no use for titles, or things, she was content. Maybe her boon could be used for the villagers, she would ask some other time when she had a better idea of what do do with it.

Elzbeth
Elzbeth didn't take the amulet at first. She was an outsider. From a different land far from here. Her family and loved ones long gone. Her place for the last ten years had been as a wanderer, this was responsibility. Something Elzbeth had been happy to avoid for a long time. Yet she looked at the worried and beseeching faces before her and knew that if they lost a war against this unseen force Elzbeth would not have a home anymore. Odd that she suddenly thought the land she had traveled aimlessly for the last ten years as home, but it was home. More than the one she had left had ever been.

The boon was of great incentive too for Elzbeth. Maybe she could request a piece of land and a house. Maybe she could leave the traveling life behind her after this last adventure. There was something desirable about this that Elzbeth had never realized before. She could truly make a home in this country.

"You have my flames to light the dark." Elzbeth said dipping her head to allow the amulet settle around her neck. It's weight felt heavier to Elzbeth than it actually was. Could she work with this misfit crew? Their differences would be hard to overcome, that she was sure of, but they had a common goal. That was unlike any group she had ever traveled with before. The groups before had joined together by chance alone and had nothing holding them together. This would be different, she hoped
It's okay. I'll be going into slow mode during the weekend because of NaNo.
The sorting is done in front of the whole school in the Great Hall...
