Tessa

Tessa flinched when Dex threw the lock box against the wall. She wasn't too fond of the idea of getting on the bike either, but she did. The gun was enough incentive. She should have lied about her name. Tessa thought as they rode to the club. A fleeting thought of escape while at the club passed through her mind. The problem with that now was this guy had her name and a good description of her. Well he didn't have her last name, but with her first name and the description Dex could easily get her caught. So she didn't say anything to the bouncer.

When Dex told her to sit she did. The stares made her pull her jacket tighter around herself. She hadn't been in public in a while. There were too many people here. Too many seeing her face. If one of these guys had seen a notice about her. She looked around and found the door to the restrooms. She'd bolt there if need be. Until Dex came back though she sat foot tapping rapidly. This was not where she wanted to be.

A large guy, probably close to 300 pounds lumbered over to where Tessa sat and took the seat across from her. "Hey girly. Watcha doin' in here?" Tessa repressed a shiver and kept her mouth shut. She had a few choice things she wished she could say to the fat man, but she kept them to herself. Instead she looked up at the stage at one of the strippers and watched, as if that was the entire reason she had come into the club. The man grinned and reached across the small table to touch Tessa's face.

She pulled away and slapped at his hand. The reaction was so automatic that Tessa almost felt guilty as the man rubbed his hand. "Feisty you are." He gave her a toothy grin, one that had more than humor in it. His eyes held the anger she expected.

"Look, my brother will be right back out leave me alone." She took the liberty of calling Dex her brother. The lie was necessary. The guy didn't seem to think her lie was true.

"Yeah, and when he does he'll find you right here." The guy lunged forward, Tessa dodged him and bolted for the bathroom. It wasn't the best plan as the female's bathroom was just one small room. She ducked in just as a one of the few women that would be in the club for other than dancing themselves left. The fat man lumbered behind her, but Tessa got the door shut and locked before he could squeeze in.

"We're not here for you kid." Kera said. Tom was already moving toward the robot and the girl. She looked familiar. Something about her picked at the back of his brain. "We're after the robot." Kera nodded at Five. "He's from the museum and we're here to take him back and to get fixed up." Kera's voice wasn't as harsh as she normal sounded. She talked down to the child.

"Kera." Tom started to say as he did a quick scan. It wouldn't give him a model number, but it would tell him if the girl was an android or not. It buzzed at him. He drew his sidearm, raised it and pointed it at the android girl. "Miss, drop the robot." His voice was stern and commanding. His finger off the trigger, but the safety was off.

Oh duh, of course. I can't believe I left your name out.Side note, I picked Neville as the sorting professor just because I figure he has a special connection to the hat now. After his experience I think he enjoys it every time seeing the sorting play out properly.

That's fine and makes sense.
I'd post, but I was just the post before you.

Tessa - Dex's home

Tessa bit back a retort that probably would have earned a glare. She remained quite until Dex pulled her out of the chair and pushed her toward the garage. "I'm going." She snapped. When Dex started on about his motorcycle Tessa rolled her eyes. She thought about how her dad had been into bikes and cars. At that memory she cast her eyes down and didn't say anything to Dex. Let him enjoy his bike.

Tessa obeyed Dex when he told her to get the keys. She paused though to examine the photos. The two women in the pictures were pretty and Tessa had to wonder where they were. Could that be what Dex had gone to jail for. Was she working with a murderer? She took a deep breath and picked up the lockbox. Didn't matter. Dex had made it clear enough that she didn't have much of a choice. She'd have to come up with an exit strategy. This was not a safe situation to be in. Outside may kill her, but at least that'd be on her terms.

When Tessa came back out into the garage she tossed Dex the lockbox. Her face set, she was ready for whatever was going to happen, she had to be.

"Let's get the cruiser and head over to whoever is out there." Kera suggested. Tom nodded in agreement and the pair of them walked out to the cruiser. Kera went to start it up, but nothing happened. Kera flicked on her radio and tried to call into the station. There was nothing but silence. "Shit, I don't know what's going on today, but it is all bad."

"Let's go check out the noise and maybe when we get back the cruiser will be back online." Tom climbed out.

"Tom, look it's not just the cruiser."

"I get that Kera."

"Everything today has been weird. It's like today is the start of something big."

"Yeah the start of me doing something proactive." Tom started walking off following the drag marks. Kera was right behind him. "Great a bunch of vagrants. I do not have the patience for this."

"What are they standing around?" Kera asked and then Five started speaking.
Kyle was quick with his meal. He wanted to run by the dorms before going to detention, and he knew that if he got waylaid by anyone, he'd be late.

Kyle was right of course. His sister was in the common room, waiting for him. "So you got detention." She sneered.

"Yeah, hear you've got it worse though." Kyle grinned, he enjoyed being able to tease his sister for it was a rare occurrence that he had something to pick on her about.

"Yeah, Alistair convinced me to go. Told me it'd be funny because Slughorn doesn't want anyone he knows to have association with the Dark Lord there. Guess that's what Slughorn gets for allowing people to invite someone. It's weirdly the event of the year though." Maggie rolled her eyes. She hated socializing and it amused Kyle to see her so irritated. Irritated enough to show it. "Anyway I've got to go. Did you breath your dinner?" She asked as she pushed past him and out of the common room. Kyle didn't respond. There wasn't a reason to Maggie was already out of hearing range. Kyle was just to the dorm when Alistair passed him.

"Detention tonight?" Alistair asked. Kyle nodded. "I'll wait up. I want to hear about it." Then he was gone after Maggie. Kyle dropped off his bag and checked his watch. He had enough time to make it to Snape's office. He checked that his wand was easily accessible and then hurried to detention. Siobhan was sitting in front of Snape's office.

"Hey." He said quietly, almost guilty sounding in case Snape was listening from inside. Hogwarts' walls had ears. "Your brother said he wanted to hear about dentition." It could be easily thought that Kyle was threatening Siobhan with telling on her if she was mean to Kyle during detention.
Tessa Green

The first thought to pass through her mind was, "I'm late." Her eyes sprung open. The ceiling above her was steel, cold. She breathed in softly through her nose not daring to move at first as she tried to think about how she got where she was. Fear slid its way through her limbs and her mind worked into overdrive. Where am I? The girl dug back trying to remember the last thing she had done.

Nothing.

There was absolutely nothing. She could not place where she was, where she had been. Her heart beat a bit faster. She was obviously laying on a bed, it was soft, and covered in warm blankets. She lay on top of the blankets, fully dressed. She wore a thin wind breaker over a thicker cable knit sweater. She wore jeans, and a pair of black tennis, the no slip kind baristas use. Unsure of how she knew that the girl sat up. Dark hair swung into view. Most of her hair was tucked back and under a cap that matched her sweater. Other than that she had no adornments. No jewelry, though that felt weird, as if she should be wearing a necklace.

The girl glanced around the room. It was bare, minus the bed she had been sitting on, and a simple coffee table next to a large overstuffed chair. On the coffee table was a school composition book with a blue Bic pen on top of it. At the foot of the bed was a stuffed bear. It was threadbare, and ancient. Probably one of the first bears every made. There was a red ribbon tied around its neck. The ribbon was brand new. Sewed into the ribbon was a name: Tessa Green. She took a deep breath, catching the dusty smell of the bear. I'm Tessa Green.

Tessa, because there was no doubt in her mind that that was her name, stood up. Next the bear had been a small hard case. She unzipped it curious as to what it held. She almost dropped it when she saw the needle, and the vial. Her heart pounded with fear, more than she had when she had realized how lost she was. This vial was important. Very important. Tessa wasn't sure how so, but she knew that it being here was...off. Not that this whole situation wasn't off. Actually very much so off. Everything was wrong.

Tessa picked the bear back up, after closing the case and replacing it at the foot of the bed. Her fingers ran along the seam on the back, it had recently been re-sewn. Unlike the rest of the thread on the bear it was still white instead of yellow. Tessa pulled at the string slightly, curious, too curious. Tessa was a curious person - Curiosity killed the cat. The thought made her pause, but the thread was already mostly undone. She could see something off white in the stuffing. Tessa pulled at the stuffing a bit until the odd white thing was more visible. She dropped the bear as she realized what the item was. Her heart was in her throat. "Oh my God that's a rib." She choked on the words, as vomit tried to escape.

"Let me out of here!" Tessa yelled at the room. She was on her feet and pressing against the walls. Panic fully set into her now. Her eyes burned with tears threatening to fall, but not actually falling. It took her a while to calm down. She sat down in the chair, as far away from the bear as she could get. Her throat still burned from the bile. Tessa wrapped the wind breaker around her. As she did she realized that there was something in the pocket. Out of her left jacket pocket Tessa found a cloth bag with a complete set of dice. She wasn't sure how she knew it was a complete set. The writing on the dice, other than the numbers, was gibberish. She replaced the dice back into the bag. She knew what each of the dice was called, without counting the sides. There was the d20, the two d10s that were used for percentage checks, a d4, two d6, a d8 and the nearly useless d12.

Wondering if she had more stuff in her pockets Tessa emptied them. In her left jean pocket she found a card, bent and slightly blue from the color transfer of her pants. The card was an Ace of Spades, that caused Tessa to think The card of death. The shape of the spade was made from a raven with its wings up. There was a small diamond cut out of the card. Tessa couldn't think as to why that would be there.

In her front right jean pocket was a mostly empty packet of matches. The packet was dark blue except for a yellow stamp, of whatever manufacture made it, or place sold it. Tessa had no idea what it meant other than a thought that pineapples were a symbol of hospitality in some cultures.

In her other jacket pocket was an old photo. It was of a girl, maybe 8, sitting on someone's lap. The adult's face was burned away.

Before Tessa could contemplate the photo any further the sound of gears caught her attention. The room had no windows or doors, but now there was a hole in the wall. A few people were moving down the hallway immediately outside her room. She joined them curious about what was going on. The people stopped in front of a huge window looking out and down, or maybe it was really up, at a planet. Tessa's eyes widened, she was in space. How had she gotten there? Or was this fake? Was this really a window? Had she been taken by aliens? Or was something else going on here?

Everyone around her was mumbling surprised, and fearful, just like her. No one knew what was going on.
