Mandy glanced around and spotted the pair each with weapons aimed at the other. She turned to June, held up two fingers. Mandy dragged the two fingers as best she could through the other hand. Then her fingers moved at just the right speed for June to read what she fingerspelled.

Starting with her index finger touching her chin and then moving it forward a few inches Many agreed with June. They needed another set of ears.

Mandy gave a quick up and down of her fist saying 'yes'. "Where?" This time holding her index finger up and moving her hand back and forth twice. She couldn't tell that the guys they had just left were with the people speaking Russian.

Mandy followed June's directions. "Who where they? What did they want?"

She asked shaking her head in confusion, her gun at the ready. But seriously who just shoots randomly like that. Bullets were a resource like clean water. And the sound attracted zombies.

The pair of them would be lucky to get away from this group, and whatever mass of zombies they drew to themselves.

At the base of the building Mandy glanced around the corners carefully checking for zombies.

Mandy had seen June's reaction and knew what it meant. Trouble of the human kind. Two bullets ricocheted spraying debris, she flinched away from it. Her heart jumped, and she started looking for escape routes.

Another man arrived and attacked the first one. Mandy frowned, "What in the world? Let's go while they fight." She signed to June with small signs that would be hard to even tell were signs unless one knew what to look for. With the two men fighting the pair of them could probably slip away from them unnoticed. There things were packed and all it would take is a few steps and they'd be out of eye sight into the city.

I could post but it'd be a very boring post. Mandy doesn't hear the gun man and continues as before probably getting shot.

Mandy followed June's gaze. She saw the person on the far building looking over the city. She wondered if they could see the pair of them standing on the rooftop.

A quick O.K. to June and Mandy started packing the bags. As she shouldered her own she asked, "Are we going to see who that is?" Mandy was nervous about people. She had good reason to be. Her lack of hearing made her a liability, and being a liability when lives depended on each other was a very dangerous place to be. Mandy suspected without June she would have died already.

She fixed the braid her hair was in as June responded.

Name: Mary Winthrop

Appearance:


Personality: Mary is a quite girl, though very curious. One would not expect her to know the things that she knows. Unless they saw her library history.

Backstory: Mary was born to a backwaters hick of a mother who believed God had punished her with Mary. Mary's father was unknown to Mary, and the source of Mary's abilities seen as the worst possibility of a deal between Satan and God. Mary's mother believed she was suffering as Job had, and to free herself of the curse she must cleanse Mary. The woman's definition of cleanse grew worse as Mary's abilities grew. These abilities were never quite under control though.

Somehow word got to Mary's father, Andrew Winthrop, about her situation. How word got to him was never something he told Mary, but late in the night he took the small 8 year old from her home and freed her. It took Mary sometime before she realized she had side-along apparated.

The next few years Mary and her father learned from each other. Mary on how to trust people again, Andrew on how the simplest thing can bring joy. Mary was grossly undereducated so Andrew lost no time in catching the girl up in general education. When the letter for Hogwarts came he beamed. Neither knowing what the next year would bring.

(If my math is correct they would have been first years during the 97/98 year. Correct me if I'm wrong)

The years spent at Hogwarts drifted the small family no further apart, and when the opportunity arose to travel Andrew encouraged his only daughter to do it.

Strengths:
-Fast learner
-Quick to plan

Weaknesses:
-Despite years of learning how to trust, Mary is very slow to trust people. Very few know her whole past. That was exasperated by her first year experiences.
-Her judgments can be cold.
-Her comments harsh and cut to the bone.
