Ability/power/creature: Stella has the ability to control plants. She can grow, manipulate, and empathize with them. She can make it so they are poisonous or dangerous if needed.
Biography: Stella was born in San Francisco, California, to what everyone would call, very typical hippies. Her parents are very active in the activist scene, but make sure their daughter is love and well cared for. Stella grew up very normally, enjoying being in San Francisco, and lying when ever anyone asked her what her parents did. She learned about her powers the day her parents started growing pot in the basement of their lovely Victorian home. She was about five at this time, and thought it would be funny if the plants grew big quickly. When they responded to this, she was surprised. However, she learned some of the negative effects of her powers quickly, the first time her parents harvested. She quickly learned to tune out this part of her power, mostly for her own sanity.
As she grew older, Stella would help out with her parents business, with neighborhood gardens, and the little planter box her parents gave her for her help. Her parents are fully aware of her powers, but encourage her to use them. She is more than happy to help them with their pot business, seeing no harm in it. Her own parents mostly just want to eat while stoned, and is that really that bad?
Shortly before her fourteenth birthday, Stella received a letter from the Northwood Acadamy. They had said they had wanted her for their Horticulture Club, having noticed that she was pretty good with plants. She asked her parents what they thought, and they encouraged her to go to the school. They knew it would hurt their business, but they only wanted what was best for their little star.
Personality: Stella, being raised by hippies, is very much so a hippy herself. She always seems to be deep in thought, and not always there. She is very bubbly, but vacant. She also says things that doesn't always make sense, which causes people to be confused by her. She spends much of her time outdoors, wanting to be with the plants. She is also very openly pansexual, which is odd for this time period. As she puts it: "I just like people."

Her mother was a home maker, which is not surprising due to the time period. Her father worked in Hollywood, working mostly in advertising, but somehow always had good connections for parties. Katalina spent most of her childhood at the beach, learning how to swim from a young age. She discovered her ability to manipulate water when she was about seven, after accidentally breaking a glass of water. However, the water retained it shape as if it had been in the glass, and was hovering about three feet off the floor. She has managed to keep this ability a quiet secret from her parents, which isn't hard. Her parents spend much time schmoozing, and going to parties. There was also a possibility of her going to the Olympics at one point, but that never worked out. Her mother simply wants Katalina to be just like her, a home maker. However, as she got older, Katalina started rebelling against her parents whims, and insisted that she would never end up like her mother. She took her swimming seriously, as well as school.
Shortly before she was due to enroll in public high school, Katalina was sent a letter from Northwood Academy that arrived in the mail. They had noticed her swimming talents and wished to help her with her dream, of someday making it to the Olympics. She insisted that she be able to attend. After looking up the schools credentials, her parents approved and sent her off to school. She has happily spent the last three years there, and looks forward to another year at school.
