Dr. Edwards' office was pitch black, save for the bright shine of a monitor that reflected in his glasses. Since the plateau incident, he had been pulling double-duty, working well into the night each day. The students under his wing needed guidance more than ever, Edwards felt, and he wanted to do everything in his power to assist them with counsel.

Reaching for a tape recorder, Dr. Edwards pushed the record button and began speaking.

"Case file no. 0862452656. Patient name: Haleigh R. Crawford."

He took a sip of his late night coffee.

"Miss Crawford has been..." Dr. Edwards paused momentarily, trying to find the right word. "A difficult case, to say the least. Since she first came to my office, our discussions had bared little fruit. She was frightful, as most new hyperhumans tend to be, of her own powers. Of what she could do. A freak, I believe, was her choice of word to call what she had become."

Clicking on a file, Dr. Edwards watched as images and article clippings flashed onto the screen. Ruins of a hospital. Vancouver riots. The pleading of a worried father to news cameras.

"I do not blame her for thinking so. She had survived two near-death experiences in a short period of time, and now has to contend with the heavy weight that has been placed on her shoulders. But it is that heavy weight that has become like impenetrable armor for Miss Crawford. Each meeting inevitably leads to her withdrawn, refusing to yield workable ground. Any sort of progress for Miss Crawford has been hard to come by."

Dr. Edwards sighed.

"Yet what happened out on the Southern Plateau, I feel, has irrevocably changed her outlook. Miss Crawford feels responsible for what had happened that night, not unlike others that were also there. She believes that if she had used her ability, rather than conceding to her fears, then Mr. Charon would still be alive today."

Another sip of coffee.

"I am a doctor, not a fighter. I do not know what would've become of Miss Crawford if she had done so. But what I do know is that this anger of hers has been internalized, and directed towards Hyperion. A breakthrough, of course, yet not particularly a positive one. Wanting justice for Mr. Charon, Mr. Olyphant and the others isn't unreasonable, but I fear Miss Crawford has conflicted justice with vengeance, and I worry it may have unintended consequences in her future."

He looked at the clock in the bottom right of the screen. 2:13 AM. Better close up shop.

"I recommend continued observation of Miss Crawford, per H.E.L.P. guidelines. She may have come around on her hyperhuman ability, but considering her focus on Hyperion, Miss Crawford might be more dangerous than she realizes."

Pushing the record button once more, the tape stopped recording further audio. Leaning back in his chair, Dr. Edwards stared out a window, carefully observing the moon high in the sky as he began to reminisce over a lost friend that he had not the heart to inform Haleigh of. Not yet, at least.

If only you could see her now, Adelyn. You should've been here for her.

Location: Northern Cove - Dundas Islands, Pacific Ocean
First Class #2.20 The Calm Before The Storm

"She's right, you know." Haleigh abruptly responded. "You can try fooling yourself that she isn't, but Luce is right."

Since her speech to Trace and Rory, Haleigh had been silent, instead choosing to listen to each and every Blackjack member that had approached them afterwards. When Luce spoke up, however, Haleigh knew her point couldn't have been said any better. She understood what needed to be done.

"Whose to say Hyperion won't show up again? How many more of us need to die before they decide that enough is enough? There are more important things to focus on than this game of charades Pacific Royal intends to play."

The others might have not realized it, but Haleigh was certain that Blackjack and all the other students attending P.R.C.U. were now faced with a ticking time bomb ever since the Plateau incident. Despite all the safety measures the school had, Hyperion still managed to waltz in without detection. The terrorist had even managed to leave scot-free after injuring multiple staff and students alike, as well killing one. Why should they continue on like things were normal? Houses and team swaps didn't matter. The only thing that truly mattered was doing what was right with the hand Hyperion had dealt them.

"Take a breather all you want. Collect your thoughts all you want." Haleigh replied to Iñigo, who suggested they recollect first before anything else. "But sooner or later, you'll have to make a decision. It'll come crawling back to you. Haunt you, even. The only thing you can do about it is wish you had made your choice sooner."

Turning her wheelchair around, Haleigh began to follow after Luce. "Now, if you'll excuse me."

As she pushed past the crowd that had formed, Haleigh momentarily glanced towards Katja, who had stood far behind the rest of Blackjack. Truth be told, Haleigh had no idea what might've been floating around in her head. She hadn't talked to Katja since the incident, though admittedly that had been the same case for the rest of Blackjack. Regardless, Katja would have to make it clear where she stood eventually. Time would force everyone to decide no matter if they were ready to or not.
Been playing KoTC with friends. It's pretty fun, especially since only one person needs the game to stream it to the group. Everyone else can play via browser on their phone, pc, etc. for free. That said, it's kind of difficult to win, I feel. The only time we would've won as the Grandees the Counts also finished their ambition/scheme and it became a coin toss that we lost in the end. We were trying to use the church to force out the queen from rulership while the Counts wanted to have a demon possess the queen, and the game chose the Counts as the victors.

I guess you could consider the game where we beat the Ashmeadans as a win, but there isn't a "loyalist" path in the game yet so I don't know if it actually counts. Probably more of a king victory even though we carried the kingdom to victory with our maxed military stats.
Right. Just dropped the CS in the CS tab. Lmk whenever they're able to be posted in the IC since I know there'll be a bit of a wait until the ceremony.

A resident of Sitka, Alaska, Suzie grew up in a decently-sized household with her parents and two older older brothers. Her family dealt in the commercial fishing industry, and as times were frequently tough for the Poots, Suzie often pulled double-duty between schoolwork and having to help on her family's boat whenever time allowed for it.

Although fishery work tended to be harsh and sometimes fishy, Suzie didn't mind it where others might've. Instead, Suzie welcomed it, in particularly because the boat allowed her to see whales, orcas and other creatures up close and in-person. You'd be hard pressed to find something more beautiful than a giant whale leaping from the ocean, Suzie would tell you.

Sadly, this meager yet idyllic life Suzie came to enjoy would come to be wiped out from existence as she grew older. The incident had been as swift as it was unexpected, and it irrevocably changed Suzie's future for better and worse.

As the Poots carried out their day's fishing, a sudden freak storm riled up the ocean. The family desperately tried to return to port, but they could not fight the tide, and the boat sunk with all hands. By all means, Suzie should've died that day, yet somehow she survived. It was a miracle to even be rescued, especially considering her saviors weren't human.

She had woken up on a beach, bruised, battered and hacking out water from her lungs. In front of her, in the water, two orcas, watching her with interest.

"Hey, Frank, why did you suggest we save her? We could've ate like kings back there! All their catch is going to be gone by the time we get back."

"Shut up, Martin. All you think about is food. Besides, she did call out to us for help." The orca turned to Suzie. "Hey, human! You alive over there?"

Suzie couldn't believe her eyes, much less her ears. She kicked backwards, scooting across the beach in fear. She had a billion questions that needing answering, like where was her family. Did they survive? Suzie didn't know. But there was one thing Suzie knew for certain: Orcas didn't talk. She probably just hit her head during the sinking, and that's why they were talking to her.

"Hello, human? We're not going to eat you, if that's what you're worried about."

"Frank, she can't hear us. You're wasting your time."

Martin seemed to get the idea. Fighting against the overwhelming shock and pain her body felt, Suzie stumbled to her feet and turned her back on the two orcas. She needed to find help. A doctor. The Coast Guard. Someone.

"I told you."

"Shut up, Martin."

From what Suzie remembers, she didn't make it exactly far that day, collapsing on the side of a road. The next thing she knew was that she was in a hospital, with an arm and a leg in a cast.

"What's with that Lightyear guy? His name is Buzz, but he doesn't even buzz around like us bugs!"

"Sara, why do the humans say 'the early bird gets the worm'?"

"Thomas doesn't even know how good I have it. All I have to do is act like a good dog, pretending to comfort them, and in return the humans give me food and pets! I'm fucking brilliant!"

Okay, she was going insane. There was absolutely no rational answer that explained why Suzie was hearing animals speak. Birds, dogs, even the fly on the wall. She could understand them all.

In a desperate bid to make the voices stop, Suzie brought it up to her doctors. They figured it must've been a side effect that had been brought on from the traumatic experience she had experienced and the pain of losing her family, and planned on giving her medication in hopes it would alleviate the issue. But one doctor thought otherwise. Rather than prescribe a number of drugs, he reached out to an old contact-turned-H.I.T. agent.

With the agent's guidance, Suzie came to learn a few things about herself. A) She wasn't crazy, and was actually hearing voices, and B) She had the hype-gene, and was a hyperhuman. Knowing Suzie had nowhere to go once she was out of the hospital, the agent made the choice to offer her the decision to enroll in P.R.C.U.—a decision Suzie felt she needed to accept for numerous reasons personal to her.

In the simplest context, Suzie can speak to and understand animals. Whereas others would hear growls, barks or other animalistic noises, Suzie can make sense and words out of them.

L I M I T A T I O N S || R E A C H

Suzie's ability functions like a conversation between humans would. Too many people speaking at one time causes wires to get crossed, and some things get lost in the mix. She can only focus on one animal at a time, anything more and sentences turn fuzzy or sometimes outright unintelligible.

Her hyperhuman power is simply what it says on the tin. While she can understand animals, it doesn't offer any direct control over them. They still have their own mind, and remain just as capable of reacting to anything she says or her presence in general. If Suzie wants something out of them, then she'd have to figure out how to convince them to help her like she was talking to a person.

"Are you really asking me that question? You guys already know everything about me. Hell, you probably even know what I got for my 10th birthday or what I had for lunch on November 7th, 2019. Figure it out yourself."

What wakes Suzie up at night is an obvious answer. It's always that day. The day when she watched her family drown, unable to do anything to help them. The nightmare is always underwater, in a pitch black sea. She tries to swim to her family, but the closer she gets the farther she feels they are.

"Oh, I don't know... maybe I'll give him a dollar or something. Actually, no. Probably just an apology that I can't help. As much as I'd like to, my family never had much to give."

Suzie feels bad for the world. She knows it sucks, and growing up Suzie is more than aware that hard times can happen to anyone. But it is that same knowledge that makes her hesitant to extend a hand to strangers. If Suzie has next-to-nothing to give and gives it away, then nothing changes save for the roles being swapped.

"We're on an island. Not only that, but an island in the Pacific Northwest. Who in God's name is going to waste their time getting over here to cause the alarm to go off?"

Should an intruder scenario takes place, Suzie feels like she'd follow standard protocol, like all the emergency school drills she had done growing up. Worst case scenario, she has to hide for her own safety. But surely that wouldn't have to happen... right?
Is there anywhere we're supposed to put the House, by the way? Or is that reserved for the character banners? I figure to ask since there isn't a section on the sheet for it.
<Snipped quote by Kuro>

A couple of questions just because this will be an existing student transferring into the H.E.A.T. program, how long has she been attending P.R.C.U. for? What is her House? And if you feel so inclined, what was her previous Team and how did she get on with them?

EDIT: I'm also assuming this character is not being applied to fill the Student Representative Position on either Blackjack or Eclipse?

1) I'd presume at least a year given that they need to complete the Trials to be placed in a House, and the Trials only happen once a year. It's the only way she'd be in a House given that they were postponed this year (for now).

2) Kind of feeling Gulo? Or maybe Strigidae. Though if you think any other House is an option, it can be up for discussion.

3) Was thinking of going with Team 7 and naming it "Lucky Strikes" as a nickname (Lucky 7s, slot machines, gambling, etc.). Though it might step on the toes of Blackjack with the gambling theme. She probably thought there was painful irony in that she got placed on that team given circumstances. As for her team themselves, I imagine there was disinterest from her side of things. Probably a lot of boasting, bravado, machismo, etc. given the team name if we take Nice Guys as a team in consideration. She's certainly motivated, but it isn't a "I'm going to rub it in your face" type of motivation, if that makes any sense.

4) Yeah, just a regular transfer student.
Once again:
