Personality: Amelia is someone who is battling her own emotions. She had once been upbeat and cheerful, only for her world to come crashing down when her parents told her that they were divorcing. Everything she once knew was now a lie, and Amelia is struggling to come to terms with reality. In turn, she has become more repressive, at least primarily around her parents, and has lost most of her once sociable charm. She wants to be the better person, to move on from the past and turn the page, but Amelia has found it difficult to do so when a figurative knife had been thrust into her heart.
Of course, the fact that the zombie apocalypse is a very real thing isn't bound to help much either. Aside from her parents' divorce, watching people, especially some she had known, be ripped apart has had a terrible effect on her psyche. The sight of Mr. Everett being attacked has been well-burned into her mind, and she won't be forgetting it anytime soon.

History
Life Before The Outbreak: Amelia Joan Beaufort was born in Glen Rock, New Jersey to a pair of loving parents: Diane and Paul Beaufort. Her parents had been college sweethearts from Norfolk, having moved to New Jersey a few years prior to Amelia's birth after Paul had secured a well-paying job in financial analytics at one of the county's major employers.
Throughout her childhood, life had been fair to Amelia. The Beauforts had lived comfortable lives, and were able to afford a certain degree of middle-class wealth to their name. They had board game nights, went to the movies often and vacationed during the summer. She played lots of sports, scored decent in school, and wasn't much of a trouble maker—save for her mother trying to get Amelia to eat her vegetables. All and all, Amelia had been a shining example of a mostly well-behaved and nurtured kid.
But then came the divorce.
Amelia never knew the specifics; at least, as much as her parents let on. She had just started high school not that long ago when her parents informed her in the summer that they would be separating. It had left Amelia conflicted, as if everything she had once known had been turned upside down. One day, they had been a happy go-lucky family, only for the illusion to shatter the next. Both of her parents still made an attempt to be in her life, having shared joint custody of Amelia, but as she slept in an unfamiliar apartment bedroom, or even bounced between her parents to spend time with each as required, everything no longer felt right to Amelia.
She grew quieter, more reserved. Her grades began to slip. Family game nights became of less importance. Concern, mainly from her mother whom she spent more time with, was frequently met with an "I'm fine" or an "it's nothing". The divorce may have been finalized over a year ago, but Amelia is yet to admit to her parents her true feelings that a piece of herself had been ripped away.
Survivor's Personal Journal: Unaware of the chaos, the Glen Rock Cougars had been on their way to a lacrosse game when the apocalypse decided to strike. Roads near the edge of New Jersey was quickly clogged with vehicles as people began to evacuate Manhattan and the surrounding areas, causing the bus they rode on to be stuck in traffic. As the bus driver tried to navigate the mess, a speeding vehicle crashed into another, creating a pile-up of smashed, totaled vehicles on the road.
Leaping into action, the team's coach, Mr. Everett, and the bus driver, went to go help alongside some others. The girls were told to stay put, and so they did, but with watchful eyes glued to the scene. Together, as a team, they witnessed their coach be mauled by someone he helped pull from the wreckage. Together, they saw the panic as people began to blindly attack others that tried to help. And together, they fled from the bus when the dead tried to force their way inside.
Amelia last remembers her teammates being right with her, but when she had a moment to rest, she had somehow been separated from them in the chaos. She doesn't know if they're alive or not. Amelia hopes they are, but right now she wants to find a way back home.
A way back home, so she can hug her mom tight and cry away in her arms.
