Location: Cedar Ash InnInteracting with: Callie Lenson@CaitsThere was no fear when Callie mentioned how dangerous magic could be. Alexis was confident she could tame whatever burning energy came coursing at her. She’d channel, ground or discharge whatever she would have to. But the prospect of ley lines intrigued her. She knew earth magic drew from some place. But the book always named the earth the very source of its power. It wasn’t entirely wrong but not really specific either. But Alexis knew now. Except… she looked confused at Callie when she mentioned only plants. “I…-“ but then she realized she better backed up her claim in front of a full blown witch by some proof. So she first rummaged a bit through her bag, eventually pulling out a strange, boney pedant. “This could also be used to draw on Earth Magic, right?” she held the pendant in front of Callie.
The pendant was clearly fashioned from a bone. The edges were still a little crude but the form was clear: a hollow circle with a wave inside of it. The idea came from a combining two concepts from her book. That said a hollow circle was the sign of the new moon and the fishhook was the sign of the sea. With the combination of the moon and its effect on the sea, Alexis found it fitting to fuse the two ideas. The fishhook became a wave inside a hollow circle. To add to its connection with water, she fashioned the pendant from a large shark tooth. The only downside was that it made the pendant rather small.
Alexis put the bone pendant on the table. For the past few minutes inside she had been looking from window still to window still. Trying to find Callie’s crystals and minerals to charge in the moonlight. Yet she found none. The little warlock was first intrigued but now her curiosity was blowing up: “Where do you keep your crystals? I can’t see them charging in the moon?” she asked both interested and confused. But her mind didn’t stay with the question. A thousand more were bubbling up. Especially about ley line magic. She couldn’t wait until she got home to practice them. Or maybe she could ask Callie to teach her?
A whole new idea bubbled up inside of her. Dominating all other thoughts. What if Callie agreed to teach her? Would she? What powers would she harness!? The witch already knew far more than Alexis. That was clear and the book didn’t teach her what she wished fast enough. Through Callie she could become a better witch! Nobody would laugh at her then. The young girl looked full of hope at Callie. “Would you… I mean, teach me?” There was no doubt that there was still uncertainty, but mostly from her side. She cast a quick gaze at the book, which stayed perfectly put. It didn’t make her feel uneasy. It didn’t call her slow. It didn’t yell at her if she screwed up. All in all, it didn’t judge her, for better or worse. Could she be a pupil to someone? Alexis was a hard working student but recently she’s been lagging behind and the teachers didn’t like that. What if the same happened with her and Callie? “I mean… are you sure?” She closed her eyes, a little ashamed that she even asked.
Of course, right ten something flashed before her eyes. Something intense. A flash of silver and sapphire. Alexis tried to open her eyes but couldn’t. The vision wouldn’t let her. The magic started flooding her with images. She clenched her teeth as she held her head in her fingers. Trying to push the Sight away. But it didn’t budge. Instead, it put her in the middle of a camp in the forest. Surrounded by blood. She knew it was blood, it had to be. But the pools were mixed. Strangely the splatters on the trees were all brown or red like actual dried blood. But on the ground laid puddles of red with little drops of silver in them. But one of the pools was pure sapphire. Like someone had melted down the gem and poured it out on the ground.
Whatever power was assaulting her senses, it didn’t intend to rest on one site for long. The images shifted again. Sending her tumbling through blackness or an assault of light on her eyes. Physically she clenched her teeth again. But the girl started to get a hold of things. With the magic she drained from the magic ball she started pushing whatever supernatural force around. Fighting it. Forcing it to show her something clear. It did but only for a second.
She stood in front of Sky Lakes Medical Center. But instead of looking like it’s usual night time illuminated white, it was pitch black. Silver lights were moving around everywhere. A sapphire as well, together with something bright and golden. Somewhere else there was a light of emerald color moving around and something amber near silver. But there were too many colors. Alexis couldn’t hold it down. Luckily, after the image left her mind the energies seized and left her body.
For a second time that night her eyes shot open as she tried to catch her breathe. She looked at her hands, who were trembling. Trying to get a hold of herself. What just happened? For a moment she was even too confused to remember where she was. But the floor below her was foreign. She didn’t recognize it. Slowly but surely she realized she was at the Inn and remembered how she got there. Looking up she saw Callie. With panic both in her eyes and her voice she asked: “Silver, Emerald, Gold... blood… What do they mean? What just… what is happening at Sky Lakes!?” Then the endorphins started to wear off. Sending her guts into a spiral. Blood pulled away from her face as her stomach started contracting. “Oh god… I have to puke.” She managed to say, right before the cramps got worse.
@cloudystar I've given it some thought and was going to PM you but no. Sorry, I'll be leaving this RP and it seems right now is a good point to go. You all have fun!
Location: Cedar Ash InnInteracting with: Callie Lenson@CaitsWas it safety that drove her? Precaution? Fear? Alexis didn’t really know. But when Callie went upstairs she reached out towards the orb. She guessed the orb must be a magical construct similar, if not of the same kind, like her dream wisp. She grabbed it in her fingers and channeled some energy off. Enough so she didn’t feel entirely powerless. Yet she left plenty there so the orb would remain bright and not get destabilized. The energy she leeched off felt weird and eerie. It had a familiar sensation to it but she couldn’t quite word it. Not that she would, she had no intention to tell Callie she took some power. At best it would be considered rude, at worst… well she couldn’t really imagine what the worst would be.
Alexis just nodded as Callie told her about the little girl and the pup upstairs. It certainly made her feel safer as well. If someone trusted the witch enough to let their child sleep there, then what harm could she really do? Then again, the man may not know Callie was a witch. The fact that she called herself a White Witch helped too. Even if it was just a title to Alexis. The only thing that did make her worry was when Callie called the Inn the safest place in the area. It wasn’t that she was there that bothered her but the fact that some place had to be safe. She wanted to ask but instead got a kitten dropped on her lap. The girl often played with her own kitten, Sabbath. But Tigre looked so different from the black cat.
As Callie left the room, Alexis couldn’t really help herself. She booped Tigre’s nose and played a little with the aptly named little cat. She even whispered: “So you’re a witch’s cat too huhn? Maybe you and Sabbath could play sometime?” Again, Alexis didn’t really expect Tigre to answer. But the girl always felt safer to talk to things or animals. Mostly because they wouldn’t say anything back. It was like talking to herself, instead of not to really to herself. When Callie returned from the kitchen with the warm chocolate milk, Alexis lowered Tigre back on her lap and took the mug with a smile. Right now all sense of precaution was out the door. This woman trusted her enough to let her play with her kitty and leave her alone in her house.
Ley lines? She remembered reading an article about it a few years ago. She thought they were something of magnetic lines across the globe of some sorts. Not in a thousand years did she think of studying them. Yet druids in Europe claimed many of their stone circles and other formations were built along them. Right then she wanted nothing more than to grab her book and ask it about the ley lines. But she knew better. Such a thing would be positively rude. Now she needed to answer Callie: “I-I…“ Off on a flying start. “Nobody ever really… told me about ley lines. So… I’m guessing I don’t really have a talent for it.” She rubbed her hands on her cup and stared down into it. A bit ashamed. To Callie not knowing ley lines must be like not knowing how to write!
Maybe she should start with how she got here? But that was a long story, with plenty of questions. Yet, here they were, with a hot chocolate in the hands. Probably with enough time to at least give her something basic? Looking up at Callie she started her story: “I actually had a dream this night. I mean, it wasn’t a dream. I think. It was probably more like.. a vision? I was floating over Klamath and everything was really dark but the sky was really bright and-“ then she remembered the amber dot. “-I think I saw you? Not, you, I mean I saw an amber dot moving at the Inn. But now I’m guessing it was you?” By this point, uncertainty was pouring out of the girl. She couldn’t really help it but her gaze fell down and looked at the cup between her hands again. “Then I saw a silver light in the woods. It moved so fast. So straight. Until it reached some place. I don’t know what but it just went… crazy.” Why did she use the word crazy? Now Callie was going to think she was! “I mean, it just jumped left and right and up and down and everywhere it stayed for longer than a second another dim silvery light appeared and…” she looked up back up at Callie. “Are there other… things? In the night?” The question came from a sentence she remembered from the book: Children of the moon fear the pale witches.
Location: Cedar Ash InnInteracting with: Callie Lenson@CaitsAlexis’ eyes were closed as she tried to sense with the magic tendrils. Yet strangely her magic was denied and repelled. As if some invisible force kept them away from the very walls. The young witch pushed against whatever barrier was erected until suddenly she did sense something. Something light and… amber.
"Greetings, young one"
Alexis her eyes shot open, surprised someone talked to her in such a gentle and warm tone so late. She looked up, seeing Callie. The woman who managed the Inn and shop. Did she see Alexis outside? Probably. In reaction, Alexis wanted to slam her book close to not look like a freak. But the minerals laid all over the pages would fly everywhere. She’d put too much work on them to just let them go flying. However, the must have sensed Callie approaching as well. The pages had shifted from full visible ink illuminated by the street lights to a blank page.
"The night is cold, would you like to come in for a hot drink? You can stay the night if you wish, Alexis"
She knew her name… nobody ever knew her name. Recently she only got called Wicca. A particularly nasty nickname. It was only when Callie mentioned the cold night that Alexis realized that it was indeed cold outside and that she was shivering pretty badly. Still carefully picking up the minerals and putting them in a special pouch she said: “I’d love to. Thank you.” Then Callie summoned the glowing orb of light. Alexis, the witch girl that never ever saw someone else perform magic, looked with her mouth wide open as Callie summoned the orb.
"I do have something to talk with you about, little witch"
Alexis dropped the pouch in her bag, together with the book but kept her eyes locked in amazement at Callie. She could barely believe it. Someone else like her and to think she visited the shop so often! For a moment a myriad of questions poured through her brain: who was she? Who taught her? How did she practice magic without minerals that stored her energy? Did she know her grandmother? Did she know about her? Does she know of the Grimoire? The little warlock was not entirely confident she could answer any of Callie’s questions. Whatever she learned of magic, she learned from the Grimoire, and she long suspected parts were missing or it withheld certain truths.
Dutifully she walked towards the Inn but kept switching her gaze from the orb to Callie to the Inn and back to the orb again. For a moment she wanted to reach out towards the glowing entity. Just to hold it like she held her dream wisp. But then she realized it might be rude to just take someone else’s magic. So she pulled her arm back. Other questions kept raging through her. Should she sleep there? She didn’t really have any money on hand but maybe she could pay Callie back? But what would her dad say!?
“I –euhm- The spell broke when I opened my eyes.” The warlock girl suddenly remembered to answer Callie’s statement. Right then she also realized that just making those magic tendrils try to enter her home wasn’t a very polite thing either. “Can… can I ask you some questions?” Alexis asked sheepishly as she took up at the witch while taking a seat. Would Callie actually entertain her with some answers? That was also when her thoughts took a bit of a darker turn. What if Callie knew she had no more magic to spend? The wisp was gone and so was all her magic in her minerals. She was practically defenseless, especially as she left her knife at home. But no, that was paranoid thinking… was it?
Location: Klamath Falls Streets → Cedar Ash InnInteracting with: Callie Lenson, maybe@CaitsLuckily for Alexis it wasn’t particularly a cold night. But still, she wished she at least took her coat with her. Then again, the wisp didn’t look like it would actually wait. The moon spirit slowed down a little when Alexis was too far off. But it never stopped. While the thing flew out her window she swiftly grabbed a shirt and sweatpants to wear, along with her bag. So now she walked the streets of Klamath Falls. Even with the street lights on, Klamath did have its dark corners and alleyways. Places Alexis didn’t really want to be caught at night. In fact, the more she walked, the more she realized she probably shouldn’t be out so late. But with the wisp floating through the city, she could hardly just let it float around. The girl was determined.
But also a bit lonely. As always. The night enhanced the feel. With no lights burning in the houses and barely a car driving somewhere far off. She felt utterly alone in the world. It was these quiet nights that often let her mind wander. Ever since she learned about magic, people have taken even greater distances from her. Would she have more friends if she looked more normal?
“I guess I would at least have a friend.” She said out loud. Only realizing she did after she spoke. She sighed deeply but eventually gave in. “Guess I’ll be talking to myself.”
The wisp kept silent. Alexis didn’t know if it couldn’t talk or if it wouldn’t. “Where you think you are leading us too?” she asked. Not expecting an answer. “Maybe some place like the tree in the forest.” That was an awesome moment. When she found the big but cut tree in the middle of the forest. At first, it didn’t look like much, but there was something there. Something she could use. “Or maybe someone like me?”
The question came sudden and out of nowhere. For the last year she never really thought about it. Someone being like her. “You think there could be people out there like me?” she asked the wisp. Who just merrily floated around. There had to be. Someone wrote the Grimoire, aside from her grandmother. The book contained too much. Or maybe her grandmother was just a very powerful witch? How could she know? She never talked with anyone about it. “Maybe they knew grandma? Maybe they could tell me about her!” Her excitement grew. Until she realized how happy she was becoming.
“Or maybe it’s just something stupid. Or nothing. You think it’s nothing?” she asked the wisp again. Only to shake her head. “Let’s just hope it’s something.”
After some walking in silence, she started recognizing the area. She was nearing the Cedar Ash Inn. She didn’t really mean to find it. She knew where it was. In fact, she thought the wisp was going to lead her to the silvery dot. Or the faint dim lights that it made. But no, it brought her to the Cedar Ash Inn. The only Wiccan shop she could find in the whole of Klamath Falls. Alexis often bought some supplies there. The wisp flew, with quite some speed, around the building, only to float back towards Alexis, expecting something. The girl just groaned and took a seat on a nearby bench on the other side.
On one hand, she discovered Cedar Ash Inn was some odd place but on the other hand, it wasn’t remotely what she wanted. Half-defeated she pulled up her Grimoire and pulled it open in the middle. As usual, it showed a page filled with text about a potion. Another remained blank: Moonligh Wisps of Dreams. She wrote on it, hoping the book judged her powerful enough. But it answered: The answers you seek lays in knowledge you would not understand. Be patient, our young heir. To Alexis, that didn’t offer many answers.
She kept the book open in front of her, trying to find a way to know what was happening in the house. The white light still shone from the wisp next to her. With a finger, she touched it. From such a light source you’d expect it felt warm. But the white light was chilling and cold. “You don’t look quite done…do you?” she mused to herself.
She wrote in the book again. But this time a pale magic spell to examine one place. Normally she wouldn’t have enough minerals with moonlight soaked into them to pull it off. But the wisp seemed to still have some reserve. That combined with the few minerals she kept in her bag she prepared her little ritual. The minerals rested on her book, while in her right hand she ‘held’ the floating wisp. Sucking out its power. For a second she felt it trying to escape her grasp. But the girl was trained. She tensed up her hand, caging the spirit. Breaking it apart. She channeled its energy through her into the spell. But at the same time she was taking apart the spirit piece by piece. The little wisp tried to fly loose from the forceful grasp. But it couldn’t. Eventually, its light dimmed and dimmed until there was nothing left. It was a forceful method of channeling, no doubt. But the book never discussed the ethics of tearing apart a construct of magic, as it called wisps and Alexis never really gave it any thoughts. She needed power and so far the book taught her just to take it, draw it or demand it.
The magical energies started to do their work as they flowed through Alexis. She closed her eyes, trying to sense the ever watching moon. From her, soft tendrils of magic emerged. In her mind, she imagined it like fine ropes of ivy crawling from the ground around the house towards it and, if allowed, into it.
Location: Farreacher home → Kalmath Falls StreetsInteracting with: Nobody yet For several nights Alexis felt the rising tension in the air. Her dreams were often muddled or very unclear in a way. Some were troubled or straight up alarming. Or at least the ones she remembered. Still, there was something even more unusual than usual going on and Alexis’ usual was already pretty strange. Recent nights she often woke up in the middle of the night without a reason. So tonight she decided to crawl under the covers early. She fell asleep like a brick.
But her dream was anything but normal. She found herself floating over Klamath Falls. Above her, the moon shined her pale light down upon the girl and the city below her. The silvery light of the stars turned the normally dull dark-blue night sky into a lively mosaic of constellations. All the clouds that should block the view seemed to lay below her. As thick fog covering the entire city. While the sky above her was brightly illuminated, below her everything looked dark and black. A few dim lights shone far away. With all her willpower she tried to focus on a distant light. She and asked the invisible force she assumed was all around her. Luckily it worked. The vision was blurred but Alexis managed to discern the light to be amber color and moving. For a split second, the blur sharpened. Revealing the silhouette of the Cedar Ash Inn. Right before Alexis lost her focus and the vision retracted back to her view high above the sky. Just ready to see some silvery light moving swiftly in the distant. First like an arrow, straight and true, it seemed to dash through the forest’s trees. But suddenly the graceful movement became erratic. It jumped left and right. Stayed in one place for a second only to jump away again. Everywhere it stayed for a second, a very dim, silvery light lit up. Clearly, something was happening and Alexis knew it. Yet, like a fish trying to swim on earth, she barely knew how to move in her dream. She fought, demanded and pushed in her dream, but it was all futile. A howl echoed from the forest as the silvery light dashed away once more. A howl echoed through the sky. A howl powerful enough to throw her out the dream.
Grasping for air, as if she was underwater too long, Alexis shot up from her bed. Throwing her covers off her. Something was happening or happened. The young warlock wasn’t about to just let it happen. Curiosity drove her. She took the dreamcatcher from above her bed and grabbed a few amethysts and an opal she laid down on her window still. The workshop bench was, as per usual, littered with pieces of wood and minerals. She brushed them all aside with a swift arm swipe and laid down the amethyst around dreamcatcher. If she wasn’t too late she could still draw upon the dream. Fused with the pale light of the moon, it could guide her. With all the minerals arranged in a circle around the web of dreams she held her hands over it. Reaching out towards the soft light sealed within the gems. Gathering it over the dreamcatcher. The feathers, cord and the small pearls soaked in the visible pale, white light as Alexis closed her eyes. Requesting guidance based upon the dream. In her thought, she repeated the request several times over. Until a rush of energy came out of the dreamcatcher. Surprised she opened her eyes. Before her floated a small wisp of moonlight.
Right then, her dad opened the door. “You’re still up?”
For a second, Alexis had to do a double-take. Looking at the wisp, then at her dad and back at the wisp. No, he didn’t see it. Luckily for her. “I –euhm- Still had some homework to finish.” For a second her dad looked at her with suspicion. But his little girl rarely got into trouble. Well, she rarely got into anything. So he just nodded and left her room. After which Alexis let out an audible sigh. But the poor girl wasn’t given much time to take a breath. The wisp flew out of her room through the window. Hastily chased by Alexis. Who realized that wisp was here to guide her. Unknown if the thing would wait for her, she simply took her Grimoire and opened up her window completely. Having a room on the ground level really did have its perks.
"You're never really alone unless you choose to be." ~ Alexis Farreacher
General Information
Name: Alexis Charlotte Farreacher Nicknames: Alexis, Char, Wicca (a more recent nickname. One more used to insult her) Gender: Female Species: Witch (Warlock, judging from the skills she has) Occupation: Highschool Student, Senior Place of Origin: Boulder Heights, Colerado, USA. Age: 18 Date of birth: 15th of May
Appearance
Description: Alexis has always been somewhat self-conscious about how she looks. Standing a not so impressive 5'6" she can easily be ignored by simply looking over her. She very much looks like the average girl. Long, brown hair, fair skin and chocolate eyes with just a hint of hazzle in them. Alexis is neither muscular nor fat but blessed enough to simply look OK.
Her dress code can vary from time to time. Like most girls, sometimes she really just wants to look beautiful and she'll use make-up (not too much) to do so. However, most of the time she chooses for comfort and functionality over image. So she's more often seen in a baggy hoodie and a comfortable pair of jeans than a top and skirt.
As of recent she also choose to wear at least one necklace with some weird stones (moonstone, sunstone, topaz, tiger-eye, etc) in them. While also carrying a much larger purse often filled with wooden carve-outs, strange notes and drawings and some carved stones. One time though, she brought a small knife but she got in trouble for that so she no longer takes it with her.
Relationship information
Relationship status: Single Sexuality: Hetero Partner: None Extra information: She's a romantic in denial. So far she believes that, because she managed so far, she doesn't really need anyone in her life. Though deep down she knows she wants nothing more than have someone who doesn't make her feel so alone.
Pets: She adopted a young, stray black cat and called him Sabbath. The kitten only responds to that name now and even then he rarely responds ever to her. Still, there seems to be a special connection between the two. As whenever Alexis thinks she needs him (as a pillow to cry in for example) he'll appear out of nowhere (not literally out of nowhere. He'll just suddenly walk through the door after being gone for an entire day).
Father: Liam Farreacher Mother: Elizabeth Stoneridge Sibblings: None
Personal information
♦ Caring ♦ Closed off ♦ Hard working ♦ Understanding ♦ Power hungry ♦ Personality:Alexis used to be a cheerful, happy, trusting girl with a smile as bright as the sun. But fate is a vicious mistress and puberty a cruel time. Alexis got bullied a lot the previous year. Her boyfriend cheating on her was the drop. In the end it changed her. She withdrew from the world. She became silent and walled off from others. And she is like that to this day. That is to say, shielded from everyone. She’ll smile and say thanks. Or have small talks if you insist. Hell, she’ll even talk and listen to you. But never expect her to open up to you. It may happen, but it will take time and chance.
All this makes Alexis a lonely girl. She craves what she fears: intimacy, trust and friendship. What happened a year ago broke her to the core and now she thinks that’s the only thing that could be coming for her. But she’s only human and wants to befriend and love people. So it could happen, that once in a red moon, she herself reaches out to someone. Just to talk. It may not mean a lot to that person but to her it means the world.
Despite being lonely and having been bullied, there is still good in Alexis. She’ll help anyone who asks. What kind of help you need doesn’t really matter. A shoulder to cry on? Fine for her. Help with a course? She’ll be there. Need to move a bed? She’ll offer her help (though she’s not that physically strong).
Recently, though, a “darkness” has been growing inside of her. The bullying left its mark. Now, with magic, she discovered she’s more powerful than she could ever had dared to imagine. So far she hasn’t acted out (with magic or otherwise). But there is that glimmer of something fiery in her eyes sometimes.

Biography Alexis' story begins before her birth. It started with an error made by her grandmother. The witch was cast out of her coven. Vengeance would be her and she started dabbling with other sources of power than the leylines. The woman put her entire fortune into the research of both Pale Light magic but even more so in the dangerous art of Blood Magic. An art perfected by both the Viking seers and Native American shamans. Her research was fruitful as she gathered more and more power. Eventually cursing the witches coven that cast her out.
It turned out to be a foolish endeavor. The witches lifted the curse within a year. They called upon ancient pacts they had with the werewolves and their druid and gave Anna a choice. Either she used her power to curse herself and her newborn son. Robbing herself and him of the ancestral art. Or they would kill her and cast the curse on her child themselves. Anna took the ultimatum and cursed herself and her child. The Grimoire forever closed itself to her and him. She was exiled from the town and went to Klamath Falls.
Her son grew up to be Liam Farreacher. However, soon fate took a turn for the worse. Anna did not approve of Elizabeth Stoneridge. Mostly because she wasn't a witch who could uplift the curse from her family. But she kept that reason silent and hidden under various others. Liam left Klamath Falls and went to Boulder Heights were he became a history teacher at the local Highschool. There Alexis was born.
Alexis was not cursed like her father. However, the curse that rested on her father and grandmother did influence her. The arts could never fully touch her nor could she control them. From time to time she had incredibly clear dreams that turned out to be true a few years later. Still, despite this, Alexis lived a happy childhood. Until she turned 15. On that night she had another clear dream of her boyfriend cheating. She confronted him sheepishly, thinking it was just a stupid dream. He confessed and it broke Alexis.
Not much later her grandmother died. With her dad as a history teacher and her mom being a nurse, they never had much. However, Anna had left the house to them. They chose to return as the house was paid off already.
When they moved and the inheritance came through, Anna left her Grimoire to Alexis. Hoping that the curse would falter with her death. It did and Alexis began to read the book for nights. At first to no avail. The curse still lingered on her father. But slowly its power could no longer cover Alexis. On her 17th birthday, she summoned her first gust of wind. From then on, she got really into Wiccan and such. Often visiting the Cedar Ash Inn's Wiccan shop. Something she gets bullied about to this day. She also often visits Evan's Bookshop Cafe to buy her strange books and read there.
Witch abilities
The Grimoire
The Grimoire is a powerful but dormant object of magic. When Anna, Alexis' grandmother, cast the curse upon herself she also sealed away all the secrets of her Grimoire. Only when Alexis' hand touches the cover did it start to "awaken". But still not fully. It teaches Alexis the basics of magic (like Earth Magic and Leyline magic). To others it will just open and reveal itself as an unwritten book. But when Alexis reads, the ink literally appear on the pages. The opposite also holds true. Whatever question Alexis writes down into the book get answered. She herself can also write entire pages. The ink will vanish from the page but the book will forever remember it.
A lesser function of the Grimoire is that it also acts as a bestiary. But since it got sealed, it must awaken those pages. Only the blood of the creature in question will betray its secrets (only a drop is required though).
Her abilities
Spellcasting The bread & butter of every witch (or warlock). The book taught her several ways of casting spells. Ranging from incantations to the usage of runes. Despite deep study and many hours of study Alexis can still only manage the most basic of spells.
Channeling An extensive subject within the book. Alexis' ability to channel is much more develop than her spellcasting (a fact other witches might find ironic?). However, this because the book's first few paragraphs about Pale Light magic were about this very subject. As to use Pale Light over day, it requires to be siphoned into and channeled out of certain minerals, crystals or gems.
Divination An unforeseen side-effect of the Pale Light magic her grandmother used. It clings to the blood. As the generations continued the curse weakened and the blood revealed its ancestral power in the form of divination. However, this form of magic is so far untrained or uncontrolled and only ever manifests itself in dreams. It also follows an ancient Pale Light witch's saying: "The dark moon reveals the new. The full moon enlightens the past." Meaning that the closer you get to the new moon, the greater the chance and the clarity of future divination dreams are. While during the full moon the past can be laid bare.
The Grimoire certainly hold the capacity to teach her how to perform divination. However, it considers this something witches only need to learn several years later. Thus it stays mute on the subject. Despite Alexis' requests.
Potion brewing Another major branch of witchery that the Grimoire is trying to teach Alexis. Ironically it quotes: "As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few who possess, the predisposition I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death." by the fictional character: Severus Snape. It's true, though. But the Grimoire refuses to teach the next potion until Alexis drops a drop of the potion the book is teaching her. Which is a bit of a problem considering Alexis her herbology is rather lacking. So she often gets stuck on potions.
Pale casting Pale casting deviates from normal casting in several ways. For one, it obviously can only be used with the power from the moon's rays. It's also strangely unpredictable. Using Pale Casting is more like entering a conversation with magic rather than passing it on commands. For this very reason one could say that Leyline magic should be favored over Pale Casting.
It's not entirely true that one or the other version is stronger or weaker. Pale Magic seeps deeper into the blood and bones. Often binding with their user. Seasoned Pale Casters have nothing to fear at night. For they know the moon's light will protect and guide them. But at the same time, they know they cannot command it to do their bidding.
With her grandmother being a Pale Caster, Alexis still holds a faint gift of that in her blood. The moon hasn't forgotten and Alexis certainly holds a talent for Pale Casting.
Blood chanter Those who can use the power drawn from blood held many names. One of them is Blood Chanter. Blood Chanters can brew potions from blood or draw runes with them. Blood Magic is both powerful and corruptive. It offers great power but for a terrible price. Even though the blood can be drawn from some other source than the caster, it still corrupts their blood.
Alexis has no clue what blood magic is. The book has not yet deemed her powerful enough to teach it. But she certainly has a gift for it and the Grimoire holds the knowledge to teach her.
Charm crafting Eath magic uses plants and animals to use the magic of the lines. Most witches would be taught on how to use plants to keep the magic pure and light. However, the Grimoire was written by witches (not just Anna, but previous Farreacher witches) with a thirst for power. They've always forsaken the dogma and teachings in favor of experimentation. The Grimoire holds no difference between using plant materials like wood and leaves or bones and skin of animals. It teaches Alexis how to make certain objects (like a small totem or carved bones) that can hold magic charms.
So far Alexis is getting quite good at making things. Over the year her room has transformed into a bit of a "workshop". With wood sculpting tools everywhere around (much to the dismay of her mom). The bones she gathers and cleans she still keeps hidden from her parents. Her grandmother's Grimoire is now starting to delve deeper into the magic of Charm Crafting.

Nine Lashes - Anthem of the lonely A heart made of stone callous and bone Fracture and tear it out to let it go And to think I called it my own And I would have never though the pain could grow
So I'll break it knowing what you said The pain is what you make it sadly you are so mistaken I will take you with a grain and step into the changes Throw away the empty heart
Right now Never want to leave this place And right now see it in a different way So right now even if you take me on
I'll stand, the lonely Stand, the lonely
Avenged Sevenfold - Shepherd of Fire Lets take a moment and break the ice So my intentions are known See I pity in watching you suffer I know the feeling of feeling of being damned alone I got a storybook of my own
Don't you see I am your pride Agent of wealth Bearer of needs And you know it's right I am your war Arming the strong Aiding the weak Know me by name Shepherd of fire
Well I can promise you paradise No need to serve on your knees And when you're lost in the darkest of hours Take a moment and tell me who you see Won't tell ya who not to be
Charles Olavson was an elderly gentleman. Yet still very much in shape for his age. His face looked weathered but what really grasped someone’s attention were his eyes. How they screamed authority. Mr. Olavson made men think about an old war saying: beware of old men in a profession where men usually die young. Charles has always been within one army or another. Right now he was the very founder and ruler of Einherjar. A security force that was quickly rising up within the world. Setting standards left and right.
Right now he was sitting in a helicopter with 4 bodyguards not half his age. But each and every one of them were massive. Silence dominated the inside, until the chopper finally touched down into the snow below and the side door was moved open. They were greeted by a man, about 45, standing 50 meters away from them and aiming an old M40 rifle at them.
“Put that away, Mr. Crow.” Yelled Charles out as he advanced through the snow. “You’re liable to hurt yourself, or worse: me, with it. Let us go inside.” When Crow’s eye fell on Charles, he lowered the gun. For a moment the two stood still with a few meter between. Crow gave a curd nod and allowed Charles to pass. But he then pointed at the bodyguards and said: “You stay out.” 10 minutes later Both Charles and Crow were sitting comfortably in front of a hearth. Each with a glass of freshly poured whiskey. The ice inside the glass was jagged and crude. As it was literally just taken from outside. “Let me cut to the chase, Mr. Crow. Einherjar is not here to detain you.”
There was a stark difference between how Crow and Charles dressed. Mr. Olavson, since raising up Einherjar, began to see the appeal of business casual. Right now he was dressed in a formal suit. His black mantle gave him the look of an old officer. To top it off, the red scarf over his shoulders bound it all together. Mr. Crow on the other side looked like a farmer. One who was now grinning. “Good for you. If you were, you didn’t bring enough boys. Though I’m guessing this isn’t some check-up on me, I’d guess.”
“Very much not. As much as I despise to say it, Mr. Crow, Einherjar requires your particular skillset and connections.” At this, Crow sat up a bit more upright. “The giants in the east are stirring. Jötunn are making moves as everyone is watching the Vatican.” For a short moment you could only hear the crackling of the flames and the increasing howling of the wind outside. After Charles finished his sip he continued: “Your mission would be simple. Disrupt Jötunn’s operation in Iceland, Greenland and Svalbard.”
“That’s a hefty request. What if I refuse?”
“The law of Norway is very clear on extradition of mass murderers. Though I think recently it was amended. Close family are considered conspirators and will be extradited as well.” You could practically hear Crow grind his teeth at that one. He knew he was put in a weak position. But he also knew that the fight wasn’t over yet: “Svetlana and Katharina must both receive Future Investments support. The both of them, they are bright enough. It won’t stand out.”
Charles was briefed on his two daughters. The request was not outrageous. He’d get it through without much trouble. He merely nodded and then continued the briefing: “Next week you will receive a full briefing and all required documents. But I’ll give you the rundown so you can get started. Utilize your resistance contacts in Iceland to sabotage any and all industrial targets of Jötunn. We don’t care about civilian casualties. You will receive coordinates of a large shipment of military equipment bought by Einherjar from Bastion. Pirate the ship. Make it vanish.”
Both men acknowledge that by now, the necessities had been discussed. And neither desired to be in the other’s presence for much longer. As a civilized man Charles walked out towards the door that was held open by Mr. Crow. But right before Charles went on his way, he turned to the Icelandic not-so-former terrorist: “And remember, Mr. Crow. This conversation never happened.” Asgard, Sweden June 11, 2049 “Yes. Thank you, Charles. Safe travels.” Haldjor put the phone down again. The entire confrence room had remained silent for the few seconds he spoke. Charles had done it. Simultaneously his PR manager was giving a rather moving speech about the ‘Destroyers of Europe’. Though Haldjor did notice the man was hammering a little too hard on tough action. “Remember me to soften future speeches. I don’t want to get compared with Jötunn.” The army of aids there all wrote it down. “Let us move onwards.”
One aid moved up in front of the others. Ready to give her briefing. “Jötunn made a quick move. It arrested alleged conspirator in the city of Stuttgart. The images are… escalating.” She pressed a button on her phone and one of the TV screens switched to phone videos of tanks rolling into the street. Armed, military troops and rows of prisoners dragged through the street. The over-arching theme was grey, crude and unnecessarily violent. After the series of images, the aid continued: “It would seem that Jötunn is once again using violence to reach it goals. Worse, it appears that for the time being, the EDA is desperate enough to help them so they can both curb terrorism in central Europe.” She took a step back again. Letting another aid take the ‘stage’.
“Home markets have remained somewhat stable. Nothing beyond SEER’s predictions. But the whole of Europe isn’t doing as well as we are.” He pushed a few buttons on his phone and several screen switched over to stock market shares. “Where there is a free market, stock has dropped in tourism, social services and most international trade. Security, as predicted, is going up. As well as most insurance company stock. But overall the euro will once again fall into decline.” He took his step back as the screens switched back over to several muted news outlets.
Another, a bit older, secretary demanded the attention: “Titan continues to escalate its assault on ISIL strongholds. Response seems… limited from them. Which might not be entirely be a surprise concidering they have been dealing with terrorist activity for much longer.”
Then another aid took the stage as the first one retreated back into the band. “GenCultura is setting up a humanitarian mission. Considering their history this may deliver those in Italy some genuine relief.”
All eyes now turned towards Haldjor. Who sat in silence for a few moments. Thinking about what to do next. Eventually the orders went out for a second time that day.
“I want two separate orders go to Bastion. The first order will have a budget of 500 million euros. Only equipment, materials and the likes. No vehicles or anything like that. Send over one of our own ships to pick it up. With haste.” Though Haldjor knew very well that he’d never see that ship or those 500 million euros again. “The second is an order of 2 billion. Tell them down at Einherjar that they have to decide what to spend the money on exactly but every cent must go towards Bastion for their products.” Two aids left the room.
“Setup secret roads between South- and North-Denmark. I want the brightest minds that haven’t been brainwashed by Jötunn to get a chance to pick up a new living here in Carolus Holdings areas. As long as they don’t have any strong political stances that is. But keep it subtle. Make it appear as if those people are moving on their own. The last thing I want is Jötunn accusing me of stealing their best.” Five aids left.
“Send whatever support Munich and Nuremberg ask for. Food, water, money, troops. I don’t care. I want those two free cities to remain free. I want invisible pressure on those city councils to redirect their cultural focus towards World War II. We cannot allow them to fall in the hands of Jötunn. Those greedy bastards will gobble up the whole of Europe if they aren’t kept in check.” There was clear sign of frustration in his voice. Another four aids left the room.
“We must re-evaluate our stance with the EDA. God help us, Roxane is making a deal with the devil. The god damn woman doesn’t have a clue what she’s dealing with. Offer her an alternative. Show the images of our silent arrests. Make sure Einherjar is allowed to aid in the arrests of those who blew up the damned Vatican. We cannot let desperation dictate our policies again.”
