Amelia Evreux

Interacting with: Chiyo@Symphoni

Amelia was, in fact, already up. In fact, she had been for three hours. First, she went for an early morning run, then a shower, then some healthy breakfast and finally she ended up in the library to read her favorite book. She didn’t want to wake up Chiyo, who seemed to prefer sleeping in. Not Amelia though. Even when she was young she was up and about early in the morning. Like a little bundle of energy. These days she learned to direct that energy somewhat. However, she had a strict ‘no phones in the library’ personal rule. To her, it was a little safe space she could find everywhere. Somewhere she could get away from the whole humdrum of social media and the likes. She liked it. How could she not? But it was a bit much sometimes. However, right at 9:30, she felt it was high time to get up and do something useful for the day. Apparently there would be a welcome festival and she couldn’t wait to drag all her newly made friends to it!

The moment she reconnected her phone to the world wide web though, it nearly literally exploded in her hand. A constant stream of tags, mentions, chat messages and other things popped up. Going down far too fast for her to read it all. One thing stuck out though: The Elites. Who were they? She swiped a few notifications away until she came upon a few messages of Chiyo. They were both Elites!? What did that even mean? Everyone in Alexandrina was an Elite.

At the fairground, she waded through the crowd. Completely ignoring the billboard. First, she wanted to find her friend. Which she did: “Chiyo!” She exclaimed as she hugged her tight. A hug Amelia meant. One she used to spread her love. “So what’s all this about The Elites?” It was a genuine question. Somehow Amelia had managed to dodge any mentions of Alexandrina’s most notorious gossiper: MssFortune. She hadn’t even read the introduction post. And as she had utterly ignored the billboard, she just had no idea what was going on.
Qael'Naath

The tempestuous streams of mana were calming down over time. They violently clashed far less often. Instead, they simply crossed or conjoined. Still, these streams moved slowly across Galbar. One such stream had moved slowly ever more down south. Until it touched upon the Genesis Tree. As if the mana knew that the might Tree-God had dug its roots deep into the planet, it did not break itself upon it as the Anchor Stream did. No, instead it gently began to coil itself around its bark, three times in total. Before it continued on its path. And even though streams could change their paths, it would appear this one stream had attached itself to the Tree-God and did not desire to let go.

Meanwhile, high in the heavens, the Moon Flow was disrupted by various debris flying around it. Each singular piece could not draw the grand stream away from the vast, dusty, empty seas. Yet together they began to chip away at it. Until finally minor streams began to wave a path from a comet to meteor and comet again. These thin lines were nothing compared to a great Stream. Yet they wove an intricate pattern in fine lines of mana in between the various heavenly pieces. Resulting in a perhaps chaotic, but beautiful pattern. Thus the Voidspread had created itself.

~

Qael’Naath had remained high in the heavens for some time. Content to let his brothers and sisters fill the planet with life. From his vantage point, he saw grand continents raised from the depths. He saw forests and plains grow and be filled with various wondrous life. Yet now the time of waiting had ended. Sooner, rather than later, sapience would be spawned that could affect mana. Sapience that could create magic. They would require the right tools and resources. Qael’Naath was quite ready to oblige. Once more he descended without friction through the clouds. He fell into the great forest of Toraan, north of the Anchor Mountains. Where he instantly got to work. First, he created a colony of large, spider-looking creatures. These things wouldn’t need to eat the local bugs. Instead, they would spin webs that could capture mana, which they then consumed to power a hyper-efficient kind of photosynthesis. One much more powerful than plant-life required. The Manarachnids’ their webs would be filled with bountiful mana floating down from the Anchor Stream. In time, these Manarachnids would be found all over the forest though. However, Qael’Naath did not make them harmless. Their poison was strengthened with mana. Making it far more lethal. More importantly, those poisoned would be temporarily cut off from mana.

Deep in his mind, a little whisper would think of alternatives to what he was doing, what if the poison instead enhanced the mana? What if the creature was rare and mutated into other things quickly? It was a sway towards more chaotic acts, something Qael’Naath had been feeling as of late.

He shrugged the thought off. No, no that wasn’t part of his plan. The poison would cut you off. His mind refocused and he moved on to his next step. He flew over the Anchor and landed again in the Gardens. Which was teeming with life. The place was a true cornucopia. Yes, this would do nicely. Mana was not as thick here as it was on the other side of the mountains. His creature would solve that issue. He gathered some mana in between his hands and mixed it with his own divine power. Slowly they began to take shape, like a flock of small, strange-looking birds. Their long, graceful tail feathers would catch anyone’s eye immediately. Their iridescent color gave away that these birds were not just mundane beasts. They fluttered away from Qael’Naath. Glistering trails followed them. A mortal’s eye could not see it, but the tail feathers were drawing mana every so slightly towards it. It had to, for its wings were made too small. Instead, it subconsciously used wind magic to stay up in the air. The God of Magic watched as the Rainbow Birds flew away. Satisfied with the result.

Once again, he would find himself losing sight, and this time, he would also find himself acting up on his wishes. A sudden obsession with the color scarlet came over him, and, without thinking, he reached for one of the late birds, the red in its rainbow started to consume the other colors, and its unconscious use of mana gained a slight red glow. There was no greater change, but a rarer type of the already rare birds was created, it was a relatively tame action.

Qael’Naath pulled away his influence the moment he realized what was going on. Why did he do that? The color meant nothing. It was simply an effect of the siphoning powers in the feathers. Why would he change it? Something began to puzzle him. Why was he acting so… random? So erratic? Those were questions for later. Now he needed to finalize his mortal creations. For that he went forth and plunged into the ocean. There he found his flow of mana mixed with water rather quickly. Then he noticed that some creation had already felt some attraction towards the Flow. Jellyfishes were dipping in their tentacles into it, capturing whatever came through and eating it. With an outstretched hand, he commanded the flow to momentarily expand and consume the jellyfishes. Who were suddenly pulled into the whirling current. Mana began to infuse into them. Though it was too much. The jellyfishes would die, if not for Qael’Naath’s quick action. He worked his divine power to create a new organ within the jellyfishes. A sack that could hold vast amounts of magical power. He then commanded the flow to spit out the creatures. Who quickly scattered away from it. Taking with them the bulbous organs. Which would every so slowly seed mana in every bit of place they visited.

With the jellyfishes created, Qael’Naath flew back up. From his earlier vantage point in the void he had spotted an excellent place for the next step. It didn’t take long before he found the tiny island just north off of the newly created hilly grasslands. With strange jumping far too high. The island was still barren. Nearly untouched by creation. Not for long. Qael’Naath rested his hand upon the cold stone below and pushed his power deep into the rocky surface. A rumbling traveled through the island. Divine activity was pushing up the molten rock below. The first volcano erupted on the island. Sending a cloud of smoke and ash into the heavens. Lava roiled into the seas. Hardening and joining the land. Another volcano burst open. Then another and another. In total five volcanoes could be seen spitting toxic fumes into the air. Orange glowing lightning crackled in the plumes and the skies darkened. The island had grown enough. But it still wasn’t finished. Underwater cracks formed around it. Water boiled up from it. Turning the water around it into a death zone for the sea life surrounding it. Hundred if not thousands of animals perish. Qael’Naath did not care. Instead the island began to slowly rise from it’s earthly clutches. Underwater lava quickly hardened, but the water kept on boiling off the heat. As the whole island rose from the sea, the God of Magic pushed more divine power into the ground. The hard, basalt rock began to weather, break and shatter. It ground itself down to find grit, sand and even moist dirt. From it, a vast amount of tropical plants grew. Behind him, sandy shores formed around a lagoon that had shed the last of the necessary water across the edge. If one would ignore the rumbling volcanoes and the pitch-black sky, you would believe the island to be a paradise. When it reached its altitude, touching just below the skies, it began to move laterally. The Isle of Xal-Zastarha was created.

Qael'Naath

The birth of Oraelia had upset something. In the eternal, tranquil nothingness, now something shrieked out. From a point in nothing, something appeared. At first a singular point, impossibly small. Yet it grew great and fast. But unlike other creations, it still wasn’t stable. Its shape began to change. Fractures formed across the perfect orb. Mana leaked away from it like solar winds. Flowing into the void. The orb began to shift and move. Its shape of a man-like creature. But hooded and robed. Hidden from Oraelia’s light. With a staff in his hand and six eyes to peer into the world. When the form finally took its shape, it opened all of its senses to gaze upon the world that was. He saw Oraelia’s wonderful sun, he saw Gibbou’s rock and he saw the drowning planet. But above all else: it knew its purpose. He was Qael’Naath and he would see magic flourish. With such a singular mind he ignored his sisters in the heavens and descended. Just as the great tree took root and spread itself out, Qael’Naath had arrived. Standing on the endless waters of his brother-in-the-hidden-deep. Mana had followed him. Falling upon the planet with gentle grace. Resting upon the surface and the waters.

For a moment Qael’Naath was pleased. The world knew his gift. Then he waited, and waited, and waited. But nothing happened. The world did not respond to his offer. The earth did not swallow the substance. It all just rested on top of the surface. Untouched and unmoving. No, this would not do. Mana was never supposed to simply lay down. It was supposed to move! With a singular motion of his hand, the floating mana before him began to move. First slow across the water, swirling around its master. Picking up more and more of the motionless mana. The grand maelstrom grew larger and larger. Siphoning mana from far away places. Then, Qael’Naath directed it up and down, left and right. Streams burst forth from the maelstrom, heading beyond the horizon or up back into the heavens. Some went down into the deep. Through the water like a flow. The streams raged forth, weakening the maelstrom until all its mana was consumed by them. They returned again and again. Looping into one another. Connecting and touching across the world. Like a fierce wind, they chipped and changed wherever enough mana came through to do so. In the air, concentrations of mana created wonderful iridescent auroras. They shone with a multitude of colors for but a moment, then flickered out again. Like glass clouds, the mana clashed against Boris’ great stone mountains. Shattering the stream for just an instant, before it restored itself and flowed around it. Yet as the rage cooled around the mountains, some of the mana fell from the stream and gently fell down. Flowing closer to the surface again. Before another stream whipped it back up.

Qael’Naath flew up back towards the heavens and then the void beyond. Below he peered onto the blue jewel that was Galbar and smiled as he saw his streams and flows take their place in the world. Yet one thing caught his eyes. A flow had attached itself to his sister’s moon. Its travels through the void towards it had calmed it. Instead of clashing or chaotically concentrating, the flow was graceful and smooth. Covering the empty stones seas before gathering itself again to fall down back to Gabbar. The fall enraged it once more as it connected with the other streams again. The God of Magic saw that his creation was coiling around and permeating everything on Galbar and even beyond. It satisfied him. In time, magic and mana would continue to shape itself. Growing more gentle and controllable. Yet now it had to storm across the surface. To ensure every hidden depth and heaven-touching reach would be covered.

Mike, the Hermit

Interacting with: Mia@Cio

Mike laid ragtag in his bed. The screen of his computer was about the only thing that illuminated his room. He snored gently away. Until his slumber was disrupted by incessant buzzing. Slowly his mind rose from the depth of a wonderful dream. Very slowly. With a hand, he grasped towards the general direction of the noise: his phone. He caught it the third time around. It kept on buzzing in his hand. Slowly his drowsy brain realized what that meant: MsFortune. A surge of adrenaline shook him completely awake. No slow rise and shine. Like he was under attack he shot up and opened the post. Nothing about him, from the looks of it. Just something about the Elites. Who were the Elites? He had heard rumors about them. Last school year. Whispers were spoken. Someone whose niece who was roommates with a former senior who used to love a girl who said she overheard a guy claiming knew who Miss Fortune was apparently said something. But as with all rumors, there was just no way to be certain. Alas, Mike let out a little chuckle. It would seem these Elites would be targeted now by Miss Fortune for the coming year. Rather content he fell back onto his bed. There was just no way he was part of that group. He wasn’t Elite. He was boring. With boring parents and a boring summer job and boring weekend plans. Well, that last bit wasn’t entirely true. Amongst the League of Bro’s (an ironic name that became just a little bit less ironic over time), there was no such thing as boring plans. They had a knack for making things happen. Perhaps Jayden or Theo were part of the Elites. That wouldn’t surprise him. But no, not Mike.

He would cruise through this last year, get a proper job at some big bank in London, go to a proper university (so either Cambridge or Oxford, probably Oxford. His father was an Oxford man) and, gods be willing, he might get a proper girlfriend. After all that he would get a boring job at a boring office, become a boring bank manager before thirty and then…well he would figure that out then. So with his nerves relaxed he got washed and dressed. He decided against checking up on Jayden. He didn’t particularly feel a need to check in with Jayden. As for the MsFortune, he was sure that whatever small, inconspicuous surprise she had for the Elites at the entrance of the Festival would be traveling like digital fire. He didn’t care though. Not today.

More than a little bit put at ease he exited the room and headed for the entrance of the festival. Like any good introvert, he just wanted to find his friends and passively observe everything. Instead, several heads turned towards him. He noticed it quickly. There was something paranoid in his brain that always told him people were looking at him. Like something was wrong. Long ago he learned it was best not to listen to paranoia. Yet now he felt that little voice getting louder and louder in the back of his head. Reinforced by proof: people were really turning their heads towards him. Then the murmuring began. Was it about him? Was it about something else? He didn’t know. No, no it was about something else. He kept repeating that until he encountered a real throng of people, gathered around a notice board. That was strange. Rarely did the school post anything this interesting. Then he remembered MsFortune’s post. Was she that brazen?

He pushed himself through the crowd. Curiosity fuelling him more than it should. Perhaps Jayden or Theo were on the board. When he finally saw it, it send a shiver down his spine.

Hermit.

He was in her crosshairs now. Worse, so were all his friends. Mia, Salem, Elliot. All of them! Only one word echoed through his head: Shit. Shit shit shit shit shit shit. No, he didn’t want his proverbial closet skeleton to be pulled up for all the school to see. He didn’t want his friends to get hurt either. MsFortune was sometimes seen as just a light-hearted prank. Not to Mike. He had seen entire friendships get sundered by MsFortune releasing secret after secret.

From the corner of his eyes, he noticed someone he instantly recognized. For someone like Mike, catching people in a crowd wasn’t that hard. He made his way through the crowd again until he reached her. ”Mia!” He waved to greet her. He didn’t give a hand or a hug. The whole touchy stuff just wasn’t for him. “You know what all this is about?” He asked as he pointed at the billboard.
Heavy WIP but here are the first few things of my god.

Everyone who knew them was surprised when Alexandra DiMecela and Jakob Evreux announced their love for each other. Alexandra was a supermodel turned fashion industry kingmaker. While Jakob was a portfolio manager for the Bank of Europa and an associate to the Evreux Family Office. Their lives rarely crossed. None the less they were happy and married two years later. Another year after that Amelia came into their lives. Even when she was young, she took after her mother and hogged the limelight whenever she could. The young girl had a talent for spotting fashionable clothes. A talent her mother nurtured. But the family (and especially Amelia’s grandfather, the patriarch of the Evreux family) had already clearly defined her educational path. This caused a lot of friction at school. Amelia became the popular girl quite quickly but would fidget and disrupt the class constantly. Her classmates followed along, making it hard for any teacher to managing her.

Never the less she has a very good heart. Unlike most rich children of Europe, she was not wilfully blind to the hardships of the world. In fact, at the age of 16, she surprised everyone by hosting several fundraisers (with the help of her parents, of course) and then surprised everyone again a month later by actually going out to the impoverished places in the world to help out as a volunteer. Her parents were quick to inform the media, who followed her wherever she went. The tabloid press was quite disappointed when it turned out that Amelia was actually helping, and not just going around for a photo shoot. After that summer, Amelia began to model for her mother and several very trusted family friends. Propelling her fame further. Yet trouble continued at school. It all came to a boiling point when she was expelled for a week because she had riled up a whole class in protest against a teacher. She was waiting in the principal’s office, waiting for her parents to arrive. But they didn’t come. Her grandfather did. He made it quite clear that the school should not leave a permanent stain on Amelia’s record. She would leave the school voluntarily. Amelia’s opinion was not asked, nor did she really dare to give it. So in the winter, she was transferred to Alexandrina Preparatory School.
