Current Two days ago, Noble Arms is indisputably four years old, spread out across three threads, and the third thread is still ongoing and about to reach the endgame...

Noble Arms is now either four years old, or three years and eleven months. The third thread had lasted for more than one year.

My Roleplay, Noble Arms: The ASEAN War, will reach its 4th year in June or July. It's been a long journey.

Alvin Davion

Being underestimated was an asset, not a flaw, provided that one's ego could take it.

And Alvin's ego can take it. He had lost track of what was happening, but he knew he was being talked about elsewhere. Well, he'll show them once it was time to take on the pirates. But first, he had to eat in the mess hall, take note of Captain Ulrik's behavior and words - He cannot trust him to be the father figure he wanted yet (Alvin was honest enough about his goals) - and then get acquainted with his fellow teammates, at least the ones whom Fuka had not shit-talked him to first.

Speaking of Fuka, Alvin had a plan to show her how much he had grown, but he can wait to start it after he had proven himself in battle; he knew enough to know that if he kept his head and acquainted himself with the Hermes-II's systems, he can do his part and maybe carry the day for the Lance.

A big maybe; one that relied on him not being arrogant, on him knowing his strengths and weaknesses well and being able to land a hit on the pirates' degraded mechs and whatever surprises they may have. He grinned at that and thought, Fuka is better at shooting and taking shots. But I know her better than she thinks; she's going to have to rely on the others to cover her lack of agility when she actually is in a BattleMech.

He had observed her as she had annihiliated his Lance. He had overheard hushed conversations during his time of enslavement. And of course, he had picked up whatever information he could whenever she 'deigned' to talk to him. He was confident in her overconfidence and was willing to feed the latter to make her future defeat even sweeter.

But for now, Alvin Davion was going to his allotted room and his allotted roommate - He needed to talk to one other person if he was to get acquained with his new potential family. Whether that person was someone Fuka already got to or not didn't matter; Alvin can win them over enough to live and let live.

Worst-case scenario, I get a non-friend whom I have to stay away from outside of combat operations, but cannot frag me as I literally cannot be replaced yet, Alvin calculated; he thought nothing of trying to be calculating as long as no one was hurt. Best-case scenario, I get a genuine friend whom I can laugh with, share fun times with, and talk about one's hopes and dreams.

Including his own, secret dream and hope that not only can he return to the 'Golden World' of Argyle, but do so with his head held high, acknowledged by his kin, in addition to the even more secret dream and hope that maybe, just maybe, something would happen to the Davions of Argyle and leave him the ruler of that world by default - It wouldn't even be treason if all he did was be away and wait for an accident or someone else's resentments to... No, it would still be a betrayal.

Bloodline meant something, even if tainted with bastardy. If something did happen to the Davions of Argyle, he would help them first, his loyalties can be called on. But would it be so bad to rise up above his allotted station, in a legitimate manner, and eventually be acknowledged by all?

A family, wealth, and a landhold, Alvin thought. That is my minimum. As for my maximum... I want everything I can get within the bounds of reason and morality.
That sounds pretty interesting. It does seem like it could be a bit strong to start off with. Flying is considered something of a special ability in KH, so I don't know about that. But jumping really high and other acrobatic stunts are very doable. Maybe just focus on the constructs and shielding to begin with, and we can think of other powers to unlock later.

I think it's a good idea to have a special focus or weapon as well. We're not necessarily going with keyblades but each character would probably have a unique weapon based on their past life.

As to whether we are villains or heroes, we're positioned in a fun way to be somewhere in the middle. We're definitely opposed to the darkness after losing everything to it. On the other hand we spend most of our new lives in the worlds of darkness, and we're well-suited to it compared to regular humans. Having no heart makes us less vulnerable to darkness, and less appealing targets for mindless heartless. But we also oppose the warriors of light. We see them as naïve and tragic fools. In trying to save their worlds, they doom them to destruction (like we did.)

Our guild of nobodies is trying to carve out a third position in the grand conflict between light and darkness.

I see. Might not join, then.
Understandable. Are there any character ideas or powers you’re interested in discussing?

A character with the power of 'Hope Manifestation', which allows him to use his own hope and other people's hope to create constructs of hard light, heal people, protect himself with energy shields, and fly.

Is that all right?

Edit: Also, are our OCs the villains, antagonists, or anti-heroes?
I might - might - be interested, but I might not have the time.
Raven Rivers

"Yes," Raven answered Ingrid, "We lost very little in the battle against the Heavenly Sword, although we did gain a lot; the Colonel has already been informed. The Infantry are the heroes of the hour, though - Let's say they did some of the most daring feats I've seen outside of a BattleMech. Either way, there will be more good news come debriefing time."

He was smiling more now, having recovered some of the poise and self-confidence that had made him a good soldier back then, when things were more straightforward.

------

Good news and bad news came in equal amounts, with Raven asking a question once the Colonel had finished, "I noticed you haven't mentioned the Neodyeonum Mines in the briefing - A strike at them won't be viable without FPA support, it seems?"

He then followed up with, "If so, I've made my choice. While I'm a supporter of allying with the FPA, I know full well that previous... incidents have made me an awkward fit for a delegation to them until the dam mission gave us a chance to establish our credibility as not innately hostile to the people of Espia. And by that, I'm volunteering for the mission to the FPA and hoping that the enemy doesn't have any more curveballs prepared for us and that if they do, we can give as good as we've given them."

He then mused, "We know that the Crimson Fists and the Heavenly Sword are funded by an outside faction, but can we be sure that our side avoided being used as pawns as well? And I don't mean by our new employer, Miss Jeong, but by the outside forces that she, as someone who claims to be a patriot of Espia, is indirectly or directly opposing. As mercs, we pride ourselves on our independence, but there are people who are happy to walk all over that, so I suggest that we keep an eye out; while we can't play politics ourselves, we can at least make sure that whoever uses us pays for it or pay us for it. So here's the second question - Are we allowed to keep our eyes open and keep copies of whatever info we get about the behind-the-scenes intrigue going on so we can get an advantage in the future?"

Looking at the Colonel, his friend, Raven continued, "We are acting on the assumption that we are both the most independent actor here and thus a wild card; that will keep our families alive - While I from just last week would have bridled at the idea of holding ourselves back from an attack at Fort Tie Shan, I now agree with you that a strike now, especially with a nuke that can kill our families while we rescue them, would be foolishness. Nevertheless, if Ms. Jeong can pull strings in the prison, as she boasted about earlier, perhaps it's time to call that in as we've saved the dam and we're still her best bet for an Espia relatively independent from outside manipulations - Either way, I'm still going to the mission to meet up with the FPA and hope that things don't go too FUBAR... unless that's not allowed?"

The Fastest Gun in Uvera

"I'm seriously tempted," Ken said to the Sand King, "But with all due respect, I am not a fan of slavery, although the gladiator arenas are more... palatable than the uses that the Aldugan Spines are putting my people - On both sides of my parentage - through. So if the gear I had during my capture could be returned to me, I am willing to offer to help fight them; a lesser and temporary service, if you will."

Ignore the fact that I was going to do so anyway; I need my gear back and I need to cultivate what favors and ties I have, Ken thought, all the while assuming he was being clever. If he can get hired for a temporary job by the Sand King, he would be able to get more Mona, the currency that made the world go round.

If @QJT has not already approved on Discord, I'm making an emergency decision and approving this fully.
Not able to join this RP for the time being, but I am giving my support.
I might - might - be on hiatus from this RP, sadly. Time issues.
