Tattoos/Scars/Piercings: Gideon has several scars received from numerous burns over his time around engines. Most of these scars can be found on his forearms, although his back has numerous long scars across it that Gideon refuses to talk about.
Personal Style: Style isn't something Gideon puts a lot of conscious effort into. Often he's found roaming the
Vengeance with his coveralls half undone leaving his top half covered only by one of many dingy and stained tank tops. His feet are usually laden with heavy protective workboots, while his hands are often covered by tight fitting work gloves. A tool belt is usually slung loosely around his waist while dark welding googles sit on his forehead. Gideon's hair is usually left however it was when he first woke up, rarely putting the effort into styling it or even combing it. As such it's generally quite tousled and held in place only by the generous amount of engine grease that manages to find itself entangled in his light brown locks. It is not uncommon to find Gideon working shirtless either due to the heat of the engine room and other parts of the ship.
In the event that Gideon is going ashore, he often swaps out his coveralls for a pair of loose fitting cargo pants and covers his tank top or t-shirts with a reptilian leather hide jacket. His work gloves are always in his back pocket with a spare kept nearby in case he finds parts to rummage through. Due to his lack of attention towards general hygiene, Gideon's face is often adorned with a full five o'clock shadow that it left further unattended develops into a patchy mess barely resembling a beard. This often attracts mocking comments from his crewmates causing Gideon to take the time to properly shave himself.

Personality: One of the younger crew members of the Vengeance, Gideon's behavior and inclination towards immaturity is well known throughout the ship. Gideon often comes across as arrogant due to his near constant insistence that anything and everything can be upgraded or improved. This is only furthered by him taking matters into his own hands and almost constantly tinkering with the
Vengeance's systems and hardware configurations much to his superiors' annoyances. That said beneath the cocky exterior is the naivety of youth and a sheltered childhood leading to Gideon being quite gullible to those he trusts often treating older males as surrogate father figures and looking to the Captain as a maternal one despite only twelve years between them.
Despite his emotional immaturity, Gideon is very pragmatic, capable of using whatever is at hand to get the job done. His keen mind is highly inventive allowing him to see solutions where others can't especially when it comes to machines. With people however, Gideon can be completely oblivious especially to those close to him. Sexually adventurous, Gideon will be the first to tell you there's very little he won't try with a woman, that said he is also notably sexually excited by pristine pieces of machinery. His greatest fault however is that Gideon has the disposition of a selfish child, putting his own satisfaction ahead of everyone else's, this often leads to blows with authority figures when necessary system are offline solely because Gideon felt like tinkering with them.

The Reason You Chose The Side You Did: Joining up with the Independents had never been a goal in Gideon's life. However as a man with his own self interests at heart, the idea of an Alliance controlled 'Verse didn't appeal to him. Unable to follow strict rules and regulations, Gideon was an Alliance academy drop out who was constantly in trouble with the law. Seeing the Browncoats as the only way to ensure a free 'Verse, Gideon has donated his skill set to helping their cause and keeping the
Vengeance afloat.
History: Although Gideon Bao-Da Engelhart's birth certificate says he was born on the surface of Londinium the truth was he was born in its atmosphere, in the hallways of a Peregrine-Class Freighter. From the moment his lungs first breathed air, it was filled with the steely essence of metal and grease. Growing up on Londinium in New Cardiff, Gideon lived with his parents who worked for the Alliance transporting goods to outposts in need. Raised around freighters, it was only natural Gideon took an interest in them although his parents expected a pilot, instead they got a mechanic.
As soon as Gideon was old enough to hold a screwdriver, he became a terror in his household. Nothing was safe from being taken apart and left a mess of parts. Continuing to grow, Gideon eventually learned to properly put parts back together and even started to improve appliances around the house. Eventually moving on to bigger prospects, Gideon began to tinker with the family vehicle and assist with repairs to the freighters around the business garage. Realizing their son's potential, Gideon's parents had him tested for an Alliance run technology academy. Scoring incredibly high on the aptitude test, Gideon was admitted and taken away from home. However the regimented lifestyle of the boarding school didn't suit Gideon and he began to act out becoming something of a class clown. Attempts to discipline the rowdy teenager failed and the school eventually escalated their attempts. Lashings which left deep scars on Gideon's back seem to keep the teenager in line but truth be told they just buried the seeds of rebellion. A month after the lashings started, Gideon hijacked a shuttle and escaped the school.
Ashamed to return home, Gideon took to the star ways, taking odd jobs on ship after ship in order to get by. But truth be told he loved it. With no rules to live by, he was free to do as he wished and whenever he had enough of the ship's captain he would leave at the next port. Feeling no sense of commitment, Gideon ensured that he kept himself happy. At least until the war broke out. With the happenings on Miranda, the 'Verse had shifted and Gideon realized that his way of life was in danger thanks to the Alliance's aggressive expansions. Signing up with the crew of the
Vengeance, Gideon was determined to aid the side that was going to protect the 'Verse's rights to freedom and liberty.
