Maybe. Though of course, we want people to feel free to take up any characters they want as long as they're no other players taking those roles.

Maybe it would be better to have a list of characters that are already taken and then one of some suggested characters?

And maybe figure out things regarding characters we love to have around and want to keep the in-universe lore of, but don't seem like they're going to anywhere. For instance, if Supermaxx doesn't come back for him, I would still want his take on Wally West to be part of the game, mostly due to how much care was put into his background and how it connects with Sep's previous Flash!Iris. Then also Bounce's Aquaman just in case she's able to come back.

You get into an awkward position with all the characters already taken, then you have all the IC characters introduced via player supporting casts. And then to cherry pick what we want to remain canon from being dropped it gets really overwhelming for a new player.

And I'm speaking as someone who has been trying to get a new player in the door.

Long story short, to do a recruiting drive properly, you're either going to need to give some guidance, whether by documenting all characters currently in use, or give concession in that new players are going to need freedom to break from previous posts by dropped players.

If that last idea rubs you the wrong way, then you need to seriously consider if the game needs a recruiting drive.

Maybe we'll get one with the new recruitment drive.

He or She-Hulk. Or both of them combined

A recruitment drive might be more successful if we actually stated the characters we were hoping to find so we're not burdened with a bunch of people coming in an asking if they can play Batman or Spider-Man.

new One Universe game from Sep and MMG

Finally, a game I can take an absolute miss on.

Is he from a swamp though?

Or are you just stereotyping cause he's green?

Damnit Wraith you've come so far

The Swamp is even named after him.
Little post to get everyone's favourite swamp based hero onto the team

Yoooo Shreks here?

That's not how you spell Kermit D. Frog.

Poor Tony! Definitely looks like things are getting spicy on his end.

Maybe between dodging between three different factions, J'onn can give him some psychological help.

Also with Lois, definitely a classic to use time travel to solve problems.

I mean, you're assuming Lois won't fumble in the end zone.
Definitely something to discuss with Cyrania when I get a moment. I'm a bit conscious about hard lines around posting limits, etc when I've seen life get in the way for a lot of people in previous roleplays who might've had the chance to keep going if their situation was attended to more directly than adhering to a hard and fast rule.

I think there's definitely a case-by-case approach within the hard and fast limits. I've definitely seen too many people equally abuse a lenient GM and then basically camp on a character someone else might have wanted a go at, than I've seen hard posting limits drive away otherwise participating players.

Ultimately, you'll need to do what works best for you as a GM, both in what you and your Co-GM are comfortable with enforcing, but also what you both can demonstrate by leading through posting. So if you need more leniency in your own posting rate, then it's understandable that you're not going to put down a limit you yourself can't keep to.
Happy Man of Steel and Man of Iron Monday Double Feature to those who celebrate.
