Some people need to make a hard choice when deciding which two karaoke streams they want to listen to. I have no such weakness: I have two ears for a reason.

The hard part about trying to play some politically savvy mastermind is the assumption that the world operates off real world politics and not your DM’s politics.

Don't put too much stock in prophesies. At best they're full of shit, but more often than not they're one of those self-fullilling kinds. Plan for what happens afterwards instead.

A character isn't deep or compelling just because you let them get hurt a lot, are always depressed, or do morally questionable things.

Bio

If you're here either you're wondering what I'm doing cause I need to post in your RP (In which case, calm yo tits, I'll get around to it), or you want to know who I am. So let's begin.

I'm a college age asian kid who has more heart than he has senses. I'm still working out this whole "adulthood" thing, so until then I just do what I feel I must. As far as personality and traits go, I'm not one for boasting. So if there's anything redeeming about myself you'd have to figure it out in person or by word-of-mouth. Generally however I'm rather perverted, in the best and worst ways. nothing is too much until I've crossed the line, and that just means I've started.

As far as Roleplays I like, I have a thing for fantasy, though I'm also good for some types of sci-fi, supernatural, Modern, and slice-of-life. If it's open and sandbox, I'll probably join it. Never really been a romantic, I often chose to sexualize any notion of romantic encounters I come across. I generally write at Casual quality, though I have no issues with Free-Level Rp/Players and I can hold my own in Advance.

Depends on your rolls, what you’re looking for, and where you’re at. Finding rubble in the ruined city is piss easy so only a nat 1 could possibly make you fail. But if you wanted to look for say, usable firewood, you’ll need to roll well and even if you do you might not find anything. The chances of you finding something really good like a magic suit of armor would be so difficult that even if you had a natural 20 you likely won’t get it.
"Necromancy?" Even if magic was only recently a thing, Goro knew what Necromancy was. The sort of dark arts that brought the dead back to life, creating undead warriors or haunting spirits. There used to be a tribe called the Dark Tribe that practiced necromancy, and it was said that their warriors would never die, and those slain by them simply joins their ranks. Of course this was a very old tribe, and mostly used to scare children, but Goro always believed that these tales had some origin of truth in them. And considering magic was certainly on the table now, who's to say magic wasn't something that once existed in the past? All in all it made Goro feel even more unease about this woman, but he tried not to show it. He couldn't let himself, a proud orcish warrior, look scared of bedtime tales.

Next order of business was upgrading their equipment. Since it seems like everyone, Goro included, had very little to work with, Winter was going to supply them via royal coffers. Goro almost wanted to protest at the idea of taking equipment straight for a royal armory but once more held his tongue. He did complain about not having much to use, how indignant would he be to now complain about having too much to choose from? "Ah. Thank ya kindly, Lady Winter." Goro would stand up and follow her out of her home and towards a grand castle. Goro couldn't believe he had missed it entirely; he supposed that with such a giant tower behind it, it was hard to notice it. Goro didn't feel too comfortable here though; while this place looked very nice it reminded him all too much of the Storm Eye family fortress back at Ulayh. It was also big, grand, and beautiful, and built on the blood, sweat, and corpses of slaves and it's own people. Goro's father had to break rock alongside chain gangs to supply stone for the castle. "I wonder what the price for making this place was."

Once inside Winter was almost immediately greeted by a fancily dressed man. Turns out he was the king. He was much more flamboyant that Goro had expected, but then again the only king he knows was the all-too-serious warrior chief of Ulayh. The king and winter bantered a bit before she asked them to greet the king, so Goro did the usual greeting back at home; he extended a fist out towards the king, expecting him to do the same and tap his fist back to him. "Greetin' king ser. As da Lady Winter said, I am Goro from da lands of Ulayh, son of Yirma." In Ulayh, a formal greeting was an exchange of fists (This used to be literal, as in a brawl, but nowadays fist bumps are used) followed by the orc's tribe or homeland, and then the name of their parent. Usually it was the father, but if their father wasn't known or dead, it was their mother. If neither are known than an orc could simply forgo it, though the implications would speak for itself.

Goro didn't feel particularly comfortable making Winter bargain on their behalf, especially how she had to offer her company to this king. It really irked Goro, as he's seen this sort of nonsense back at home. He was half tempted to strike the king dead here and now, but all he could do was hide a clenched fist. Goro's time will come, one day. Instead he focused on equipment they'll need. Clearing his throat Goro made his request. "I'll need a sturdy club or mace. Somethin tough but light enuff fer an orc ta use wif one hand." Goro showed his missing hand as a silent explanation for why he couldn't use a two-handed warclub. "An two set ol daggers. One is gunna need ta be a fightin knife, a stabbin kind. Long spike, solid grip. Cuttin edge is fine but da important thing is dat it's stabby. Da other knife needs ta be shorter but more robust blade fer utility purposes. Choppin wood, skinnin beasts, guttin fish, all dat stuff." Goro thought about what else he'd need. If he had two hands he'd ask for a bow, but obviously this wouldn't work. So he needed something else instead. "An javelins. Or harpoons if ya got em. If ya smiths know bout em, I'd like a spear-sling wrapped round em too. Dey leather strips dat'll help me thrown em farther an harder den I could by hand."

Next was armor. In Uylah traditional armor was made of laminated wood, layers of tanned hides, or more rarely, metal chains. However recently their warriors are donned in plate armor, either full plate or in a coat. Goro might've never worn that kind of armor before but he knew what would work best for him. "Need somethin... Medium, I suppose. Metal breastplate that'll protect me chest, an a helmet dat can withstand a beatin. I could go fer some new boots too if ya got any, but I need ta travel light so let's not go too crazy. Also," Goro raised his hook hand up for the king to see. "A small shield dat can be strapped to da arm. Don't want it ta get in da way of da claw howeva. I still need dat fer fightin."

That was it for weapons and armor, he figured. There was other supplies he could use too, though not all of them would likely come from a smith. "If possible I'd like sum supplies fer survival too, of course. Leather tent ta keep out cold and water. I'd also need a large waterproof sack ta carry coal in fer campfires. No amount ol arms or armor can protect ya from a cold death. Rope will also be important. I need fine silk rope, as well as thicker hemp rope. Fifty feet each outta do it. I'll take em either as a single cord or five bits ten feet long." That reminded Goro that he should actually get some torches. Not only for nighttime illumination but also as a source of flame should they really need it. "If ya got flint an steel fer sparks, I'll take em. I'll also need torches. In fact, if ya could make me a torch dat I can beat someone ta death wif, dat'll be even better. But I'll still need other torches."
Fortunately for Orchid the little lizard was easy to scare away. While she has no doubts she could kill it, fighting was the last thing on her mind right now. She just wanted to get out of here and form all of this madness. As she approached Orchid spotted a rather strange looking egg, or something like it, just on the ground. "Did a lizard lay this egg? I think reptiles lay eggs...." Orchid was about to go check it out when suddenly it hatched. She put her shield in front of her and got ready for a fight, only to see what was inside was not a mere lizard. But some sort of tiny-sized dragon. Was this the same one that Orchid was looking for?

Yes, yes she was. Apparently her name was Ash. Made Orchid remember she never told the lizard her name. She also deduced that Orchid was also formerly human, which the goblin nodded towards. "My name is Orchid. Formerly human... I think we all were once human in this cave. Some of us become monsters more easily than others." She says as she motions down the cave where the sound of fighting could vaguely be heard.

Also turns out that lizard was Ash's pet. Orchid couldn't really feel any regret about that; she was frankly tired of all of this fighting and just wanted to build, dammit. Still she at least tried to say something. "Sorry. It's been... Harrowing. I don't trust the goblins anymore than anyone else here, but to just attack them entirely... Ugh. At this point I don't even care what happens to them anymore." It was then that Orchid received some system messages, one telling her about her leveling up and another regarding some change to the environment. "What the hell?"

Orchid gave a quick look through the skills available, her skill points, and weighed her options. She wanted to learn fireball but frankly even if she poured all of her skill points into it, she won't be able to use it immediately if she needed to hit a 1 at the very least. There were other skills she could level up instead, simple but useful. But she needed something new. Something different. Something unexpected. So she put four points into Taboo and the rest of the three into Fireball. Next time she levels up perhaps she could put the rest of her points into it, but right now she needed a new ability. She just hoped Taboo was a good one. Aside from that, there was also some sort of change in the environment. It didn't sound like it was a major change, but she didn't like how Death became a secondary element. She didn't need to know much about to this world to wonder if zombies were going to start popping up, which they no doubt will considering how many dead bodies were around here.

Ash wanted to leave. "Same. From what I've been told, there are holes around here that are large enough to provide both illumination and ventilation in this cave. I doubt we can just go out from the cave's main entrance, we'll either run into other humans or the goblins, so we'll have to go through those holes." Orchid raised her torch into the air to see if there was any holes here they could use to climb out of. As she did so Orchid did have a few suggestions and warnings. "The things outside of this cave is stronger than the other monsters. Big animals with tougher hides and deadlier weapons. But unlike this cave, plenty of material for me to work with. I... I have a few goblins that I think might be loyal to me. Maybe with your help, I could convince them that we can all leave this cave. Maybe even seal it to keep those other pesky warmongers out of our hair." Orchid was mostly saying this out of spite, so she shook that thought aside.

"But we don't need to risk it if you don't want to. More cooks spoil the soup after all. In any case it looks like you have wings. Can you fly? Hold a torch too?"

@Searat

They’re definitely humanoid and they’re moving further away from you.
Katherine

“That would be most excellent then, Katherine. It is getting quite late which is the best time for people like myself to be out and about.” Selena says as she stands up and begins to leave. There was a small smile on her face. “While you’re still with us, I should show you a shortcut from Underhaven to the town proper. It can get dreadfully tedious walking the tunnels all the way here. Let’s go everyone.” With a commanding tone most of Selena’s posse put away their things and followed her, though Darc remained close to Livia.

“So, do tell me a little about yourself, Katherine. I’m sure someone of your heritage has quite a tale to tell.”

@Pyromania99

Livia

Darc’s trademark smile never ceases to fade as Livia asked what he could possibly do for her. “Of course, in this small town, there is no limit of the strong and determined who will gladly let fists communicate their meaning, whose bullheadedness could be used to break rocks, but I am not like that. Frankly strength is not my strong suit. But I have other skills that go under appreciated, intentionally so. For someone like yourself, who needn’t resort to such barbaric measures as shouting and making grand challenged, I can do much for you Indeed.” Darc stood up as Selena ordered them to head up to the surface, with Darc staying near Livia to continue his conversation with her.

“Take those orcs for example. A brutish lot. A direct confrontation must be met with force. But should I be there, I shall handle it with finesse. Oh yes, surely whatever you need from them could be easily obtained… For me, at the very least. And I’d gladly help you, if you so desire, after all I’m sure that your dealings with them did not end satisfactory. Typically doesn’t when speaking of those ruffians.”

@Rune_Alchemist

Ethan

The final route towards the last village would be the longest. The sun was already setting down on the horizon and Ethan wouldn’t even be halfway before it was properly nighttime at the rate he was going. At least the skies were clear so that the moonlight could provide some illumination for the night, but that alone won’t stop certain creatures from venturing out.

But beasts were the least of Ethan’s problems. Because at night, mortal creatures tend to be aware of the dangers and stay within. But creatures of the woods, the fey, see the night as an opportunity to truly go wild. On the distance Ethan could hear howling, but not from wolves. A different beast… But no less vicious…

There was torch light in the distance. Moving away from Ethan, and there appeared to be at least two torches. They running. Perhaps towards the town, or maybe away from something? Ethan would have to run and find out.

@Searat
Of course Orchid couldn't simply find a friendly lizard, she had to find some sort angry one ready to pounce her. Instinctively she thought about raising her shield, but she remembered the badger. How it attacked her because she tried to act small. And while she was definitely larger than this lizard, if she tried to cover herself now the lizard might just attack. No, Orchid wasn't going to let this happen twice. Nay, instead of cowering, Orchid raised the torch in her hand high, so that the lizard could see her clearly, towering over the creature. She needed to be big, be loud, and put this creature in it's place. And so Orchid roared, roared at the top of her lungs so that maybe even her fellow goblins would hear her, the greenskins warcry.

"WAAAAAAAAGH!"

@Thinslayer

Well, using my time as an old DnD GM, we could simple timeskip between travel phases but zero in on “interactive” moments. For example ya ruling out of the town and going on the road could be skipped, but then maybe we run across a random event (I can think of a few) that we could either interact with or ignore. Then we reach our appointed destination and go for a more traditional dungeon crawl or rogue type from there.
@rush99999
Right sorry. So the backrooms appear to lead to office spaces on the right, and the left appears to be a store room. The office has old moldy ya les and chairs that you might be able to use as firewood, though that mold might cause some nasty fumes if you don’t scoure the wood throughly. The storage room has a bunch of empty crates, also moldy, though one does appear to be full of sacks. Even if you look carefully you’d find about twenty or so wool sacks.
@Tangletail

Right, forgot that you had to change your stats. Scratch the int thing. That aside everything looks good. Welcome to the Ruins of Norn. You won't last for long.
@Tangletail

Yeah they stripped a lot out of the characters in 5e, though they added stuff too. I was certainly surprised when the bardic inspiration because limited dice bonus instead of aoe small buffs, but I suppose that's because 5e wants to reduce the amount of number crunch. In any case I do agree, the countercharm as an action thing can feel pretty lack luster unless your big hitter is scared/charmed, or most of your party is. Fear effects are actually rather common but the charm not so much.

As for the saving throw question, it really depends on what saving throw your targeting and what monster your fighting. Generally speaking if it's not something legendary like a adult dragon or a mindflayer, they're guarantee to have one great save, one good save, and the rest are shit. As in, all they get is their stat bonus or penalty. The idea of a general save DC is also to allow low level spells to still have some use in higher level games, so something like charm person or burning hands will always be useful from level 1 to level 15. Plus since 5e does away with static bonus/debuffs, more likely than not your enemy may have disadvantage and be forced to roll the lower of 2 d20's for saves. That makes it much easier for them to fail saves even if they have a decent bonus.

In any case don't forget to add a +1 to your int save.

Also your HP is way higher than it should be for a bard. It's always max die at first level, but only the average every level after. So 8+5+5=18. You'd had your con bonus for each level too if you had a bonus.

Also just a formatting thing, but you can mark a skill as Expertise by selecting the circle next to it and typing "e". This will automatically double the proficiency for it as well as mark the skill as expertised.
