Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

I have some new treats! First up is Nobrain, who is still, I believe, catching up. And next is Skyrte's Ineko, without the Damascus armor, since I don't feel like I could do a better job than the image he already has. Lots of layers. Undersuit, hoodie, and scarf, not to mention cybernetics mouthparts. If the pattern you described on your sheet wasn't polka dots, I don't know what is. If you're wondering, the only part where his actual skin is showing is his face, the rest is undersuit.
Some would call it paradox that a city where no living thing exists could be the most alive. Monolith was, however, a such a place. The city where dead spirits walked the earth in new forms, where the hard-working could live forever—where legends were real. In Monolith there was no such a concept as silence, for the days were filled with the ceaseless clamor of labor. Metals were mined from the earth, refined and reforged, and given new shape. Clay rose from the submerged Pearl District in clockwork dredges, to be sculpted and fired in various workshops. Crops rose from the earth, cane and wood and straw, and were processed for craft and sale. Despite the seeming monotony of it all, the city was abuzz with the chatter of its Workers. They talked, joked, complained, laughed, and cried just like humans, filling the winding brick streets with personality. To a stranger, however, Monolith wasn't nearly so wondrous. It gave off the air of an impregnable culture, one that could never be approached by an outsider, and the fact that it encompassed beings of stone, steel, clay, straw, and more rather than flesh and blood certainly helped to proliferate this image. Of course, if there was anyone who did not care overmuch about the lack of cordiality issuing forth from Monolith's inhabitants, it was Emily. Though she had been in the city for only a short time, unrestricted by the wide-open gates and undisturbed by any guards, she had received more than her fair share of looks. The looks held no curiosity or malice, since the Workers were blessed with only one face to call their own, but still the myriad of colored eyes looked upon her. Each Worker she passed committed her to memory, something alien and interesting in a city that never changed. “Hmm?” The Worker upon whose chest Emily laid her hand said. Its voice, decidedly female and with a strange accent, reverberated slightly as if fighting its way out through the air. Tiny sparks, the same color as its eyes, tumbled from beneath its faceplate as it spoke. “What are...? Oh.” The eyes shuddered suddenly, and the Worker stared with its motionless, slightly smiling face up into Emily's own. The girl stood a few inches taller than it, but the distance didn't stop the voice from penetrating her mind. Time seemed to slow down. As Emily's influence seeped closer to the golem's soul, its voice reached her, and only she could hear. “I feel strange. Are you causing this? Why?” The closer the soul of the Keeper and the soul of the Worker became in Emily's endeavor to control it, the more could be identified about the latter: it had existed in Monolith for almost two centuries, and had experienced a lot on that time. Beneath those memories, however, existed another layer which the Worker herself had no access to: those of her former life. Trying to take control of the golem itself was troublesome, for its spirit contrasted those of every other race on Cyprus. If Emily could delve deep into the Worker's psyche, however, and reach the part of its soul that was human, she could take it over.
Drop it like it's hot; Grimm Studies needs more drama. So whose tragic backstory do we need to reveal to get on Amort Class' level? >:O Jayden's backstory is pretty cray cray. I have it planned though. Shit is gonna go DOWN when parents are able to visit their soon to be hunter children. >:O Whenever that is... I already be dropping hints and breadcrumbs for you guys. Wonder if any of you know what his past is like. :o Also, Lug, I dun missed the CS contest, I'm wondering if I can insert him as an NPC if I can find an excuse (OR MAKE HIM A TEACHER OH EM GEE) or if I should probs save him for a diff contest. ;o Probably PM him to you and see what you think works best? (I may or may not have grown attached to him *cough* as I am wont to do)
Sure, go ahead. I'm outright inclined to say reuse him for another contest, though.
But that aside, my earlier question had not been addressed. Do teams have to participate in the same class for subjects that are compulsory such as Armory and Grimm Studies? Or am I free to just go where there are fewer people? I feel like canonically it's the former.
Nope! Grimm Studies and Armory are non-compulsory, actually, and teams can split up for them if they so please. For instance, all members of SASG are in Armory except for Abel, who is in Grimm Studies. @Psyrencalling We're waiting for you, I think.
Sounds rough, Hari. Hopefully everything goes smoothly.
I have not read Paranatural, but that idea is fine.
I invented the semblance post personality, I'll flesh the personality out more as I get a feel for the character. I've read Yang's semblance, and to be honest, Rowan's isn't that similar. <Snipped quote> -RWBY Wiki Rowan gathers power from her own emotional state, not the attacks of enemies, and she has natural armor instead of just nullifying their attacks. It's not as powerful, but Rowan doesn't require actual physical trauma to use it.
I'd like to make a comparison between Natsu Dragneel of Fairy Tail and Pyro of X-Men. Natsu has an innate magical power, allowing him to create fire. Pyro must rely on preexisting sources for fire, like a lighter, but he can manipulate those flames. At the end of the day, both are shooting fire. If you judge that a different fuel source makes it sufficiently different (and interesting), you're free to go ahead with it. I expect that her physical 'transformation' helps makes this difference; perhaps you could outline for us what she looks like with her semblance fully engaged.
@Kaithas Embolden the section categories and add a space between categories for readability's sake, please. You might want to see if you can develop the personality section any more. When looking at your semblance, I'm seeing a pretty thorough similarity to Yang's semblance, which increases her physical power and abilities (including strength and speed) as she fights and gets angrier, though in Yang's case it allows her to produce fire at high rage levels as well.
<Snipped quote by Lugubrious> So a Lancer would be sort of like a Buffy Vs Faith situation? And the motif is that character just has to relate to paper in some way or another?
I'm not familiar with Adventure Time, but I expect that is the the case. Pretty much. Just as with 'Crippled' it is very much open to interpretation.
Also I have two questions regarding the contest, what is meant by Motif: Paper and when you say the character is the lancer of the team what does that mean in terms of combat?
If I told you what it meant, it wouldn't be much fun, so I'll tell you what it might mean: the character wears literal paper armor, the character has a semblance that manipulates confetti, the character really likes making lists, the character's skin is 'paper-thin' physically, leaving him/her with a crushing weakness, the character's skin is 'paper-thin' metaphorically and he/she flies off the handle at the slightest provocation, the character is totally enamored by origami, the character's semblance can bring origami to life, the character's name is 'paper' in another language...I could go on. In terms of combat? Nothing at all. Check this out.
Oi, few things misunderstood prolly due to my poor wording, but nvm xD But what I think is that when you can die at initiation, dying anywhere else is not an issue for the school. Remnant is not Earth, it is a bloody, hostile environment where humans are a minority on a world that is out to kill them. They're probably looking at it in a different light imho. And come on another character creation so soon? That's it, I'm coming up with a short story contest xD
I did say I was wanting to make the entire senior team, but I do have short story contests in planning as well. After this one I can insert one of those if you please.
