Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Can't we have the ice horse or the dog with the super tongue semblance? Or anything other than a telepathic rat?

Ferret mate

Hey Lug I was reading the blurb for our mission and the rewards indicates that as well as receiving credits for this we also get a team pet. Does that mean we have to keep that obnoxious telepathic rat?

Yes. Yes it does.
Hugh – Basilmeron Castle

On queue, some of the soldiers began to load up their things into the convoy. Hugh watched them with pride, still not fully believing that the Basileus had seen fit to give him command over so important a mission. The knight, remembering the details of his destination, produced a roll of paper and examined it for what must have been the hundredth time, attempting to commit it to memory. Its kingly lettering described the riverlands to which the Reclaimers would be traveling. According to veterans of recent battles in the area, soldiers in the field had purportedly witnessed small groups of men hanging around the fringes of the battlefield, atop hills and among trees, who flew no banner and fled if approached. These 'phantom bands' led the Basileus to believe that a third party was out there, waiting in the wings and watching.

Hugh pocketed the paper. No sense in worrying just yet when the first act hadn't begun. He strode over to two of the most eye-catching spectacles in the courtyard: the Cavalier atop his horse, and the wyvern Druug. “Looks like you two have it all figured out. With friends like those, the long walk will be a breeze. My comrades-in-arms tell me that if I persevere in my role, I'll be able to choose a horse of my own and ride it into battle as a Great Knight. What is it like to ride a wyvern, friend?”

Sanguin – Basilmeron Castle Courtyard

Ronin shot Gaius a dirty look, as if to say, 'how the hell did you know?' After a slightly mocking bow, he lumbered off, dragging his axe behind him. After a moment of watching him go, Sanguin was surprised to see a small but brilliant burst of fire alight near the group's youngest member. Though not quite close enough to make it all out, the myrmidon caught snippets of Nickolas's ensuing response. From what he said, it seemed like the girl had power impressive even to fellow mages. Sanguin furrowed her brow; she'd always been somewhat envious of mages. To have special powers that set oneself apart from and even above others, to be able to fling magnificent lightning bolts and swaths of razor-sharp wind from a distance while swordsmen like Sanguin were helpless to retaliate...it inspired no small amount of respect, and no trace inkling of jealousy, from the wolf warrior.

With the convoy approaching, Sanguin found a good excuse to leave the freakishly tall Gaius behind. One of the horses snorted as she passed by, and instinctively the woman bared her teeth in a snarling grimace in response, before placing her personal knapsack in the convoy. She also took the opportunity to remove her shield, unbuckle her cuirass, and place both in the wagon for safekeeping. If Hugh told the truth, a long walk awaited her in the coming hours, and even with wolflike endurance Sanguin did not relish the prospect of marching in full combat gear. Backing up from the vehicle, she bumped right into Arkhant, and her mask clattered to the cobblestones. “...Oops,” she frowned, “Uh, sorry...”
Wow, so little belief in Mankind in this thread...

Edit: Also...humans are extremely disciplined. They've been meditating and doing all this spirituality bull. They're not going to watch helplessly as mind-generated beasts kill them. If anything, the beasts are no issue for them at all

Wise old man: 'There is no enemy. The foe on the battlefield is merely the manifestation of that which we must overcome. He is doubt, and fear, and despair. Every battle is fought within. Conquer the battlefield that lies inside you, and the enemy disappears like the illusion he is.'

The monsters, not so much, but crops are basically now non-existent. If the humans don't freeze, they will starve.

Vestec is just unnaturally charming, especially when he's pink, and Escre can't bring itself to harm him.

Obviously.

More like I'm trying to figure out if Escre can invade Vestec's plane uninvited.
Escre is very much not happy with what has been happening to humans as of late. It would be easily approachable by a god wanting to cooperate to restore things to a better state.
@Lugubrious

Were you planning on doing anything to the now-vacant stone temple?

Nope.
Decisions, decisions, I can support the God of Life (right before I get to where I can create sentience, no less), or I can support the God of Winter- who can freeze parts of the ocean if I make him mad.

I feel like Undasis sorta looses either way.

I don't see how Undasis loses by supporting Escre.

You said they're attracted to large populations of humans right? Vestec's is one of the largest, simply because he has given his protection to it. No Dyun, only a few Cimex, =Very little population loss due to them, the only real threats so far. It's been really isolationist so far due to A) It being in the far north, and B) Remember Vestec's little human he corrupted from that post with Astarte? Well, he's the leader and he is (surprise, surprise :p) a power hungry asshole.

Vestec is going to visit his village soon, and there'll be at least one Outsider in it. He'll notice (humans and Outsiders having different Essences, souls, whatever you want to call it), and go 'Oh! Something new to play with!'.

Sorry about that, I realized and then edited too late.
Fleo Plector – Magnolia Street

”Yeah, that'll be great!” Fleo bubbled, clapping a hand around Annalise's should, whose owner visibly flinched. Reluctantly, still sustaining her staring contest with the ground, the stranger trudged along with the group, lagging behind. Having apparently noticed for the first time the rather showy top she was wearing, Annalise had shaken her cloak until it fell all around her, making her look somewhat like a nun—if nuns dyed their hair hypnotic shades of blue and violet. Barely speaking above a whisper, she fumbled through a response to Ariel's aggressive questioning. “N-no, no problem, p-please, just, it's all fine, I'm sorry...”

It took a couple of minutes to get back to the guild hall on foot. Though still somewhat soggy, Fleo didn't appear much worse for wear, but Annalise. In the course of the short journey back, the strangely-accented swordswoman changed moods a whopping five times, first to creepy, then to sarcastic, then to flirty with Angelo before quickly turning shy again, and finally becoming loud and excitable when the guild came into sight. ”Oh, wow! The amazing Phoenix Wing Guild Hall, at last! I have traveled much far to see it. Now I know for sure I can find wizard who can help with my job!”

Laughing but quickly tiring of Annalise's shiftiness, Fleo led the way inside. As they passed a generic guild member, the motion kicked up a slight wind that knocked Annalise's hood off. Though very difficult to see in this light, there nestled a glinting, greenish, polygonal shape in the lower left side of the back of her head, one that didn't resemble any sort of conventional jewelry. Taking no notice, Annalise pulled a roll of paper from a pocket and opened her mouth to say something. In that instant, her demeanor changed from one of cheerfulness to one of surliness. “...I will return in a minute,” she said in a slightly deeper voice, though still in that same clipped accent. “Grab me some lemonade or somethin', will ya?”

With that, she headed to the job board, unrolled her slip, and began tacking it on, ignorant of any proper custom. Fleo watched her for a moment before her gaze shifted to Sin and Virtue, whose current situation caught her interest intensely. What exactly had been going on in her absence?”

Nero – Dragon Fang Guild Hall

Nero chuckled and waved his hand at Ayame, giving her the signal that the coast was clear and she could come in. With his back to her, he wasn't too sure that she could see him, but for the moment his thoughts were elsewhere. “Nooooooo problem, sir,” he assured Master Goran. “All I'll give is money, and all I'll take is hospitality. In the metaphorical sense, of course. Scout's honor.”

Upon entering, he found the Dragon Fang hall to be of grand design. Like Shirotsume proper it boasted a certain rugged, quaint quality indigenous to mountain towns, but this particular edifice bore a flavor all its own. A look around at dents, burns, cuts, and other markings all over the place gave the impression that the members physically contended with one another on a daily, if not hourly basis. “Neat!” He remarked, and mimed taking a snapshot with a photo-lacrima. Not far away from him, Jackie spun Shujin around, fixing for a brawl. “Ooh, looks like we've got a quarrel fixing to begin. And Shoe Chin, to boot! I'd go and say hi to my old buddy if I didn't hate his guts so much. Ah hah, just kidding.” He raised an eyebrow at the guild master as he held the door open for Ayame. “D'you wanna take a sec to stop the fisticuffs, or could ya maybe show us to a room?”
