Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Hey, Lugu.

Fuck you.

FUCK YOU MAN.

WHY YOU GOTTA DO THAT

why...?

Snow, no.
I haven't seen that.

Anyone seen these?

A few more confirmations of people being in favor of a history section and I'll add it as an option.
But just so we're clear, who has seen the latest episode of RWBY? Cause I just wanna say, as vague as it can be for those who hasn't, I like the direction it's going but goddammit that's just tragic. Like, nothing funny, nothing heart-warming, and while the fight itself was pretty good I feel it kinda takes a distant second compared to what happened shortly after.

Also everyone is about to have yet another Grimm reminder that they live within cages they call walls. I guess the first time it happened didn't seem quite serious enough, so they're doing it right for round two.

I agree with you heartily in that front. For a show that lost its two best animators, the fight was spot-on. I particularly liked

If you ask me, the

portions of this season were a good way to go. It's good writing, it's intense, and it's gripping. No anime or cartoon has ever held my heart so powerfully as did Episode 9 of RWBY. Others may have had their moments, but this was when I was immersed.
@Lugubrious

Alright, I'll concede. I suppose I let the power go to my own head as well. No more nuclear power, and I'll let EMP's shut down him down to the point where he's extremely sluggish or even immobile if he's not already standing up. As for his latent personality involve his hunger for power, that's something I wanted to develop more in the IC and reveal in his backstory, should anyone ever bother to explore it. I mean, c'mon, he's got essentially a giant dick for a weapon. I kinda figured "Power Fantasy" was sorta written onto his character, tongue-and-cheek as it may be.

I'm very happy that you're lucid about this issue. Thank you for the concessions. I saw that he was meant to be a Power Fantasy sort of character, but his weapon alone is enough to evoke that. It's be more obviously tongue-in-cheek if he behaved with less intensity IC. I'd honestly be more happy if you were to say that he has a very low amount of aura because of his body, the vast majority of which is robotic. He'd become vulnerable to damage pretty quickly, but afterward he still has his armor and beneath it, he is parts after all. Then Gren has an obvious and even unintuitive weakness: the walking tank is vulnerable to burst damage.

@Everyone: I've been to a greater or lesser degree of consciousness been wanting to ask this for some time: how do all of you feel about going back and amending the original character sheet with a History section? I must admit, the sheet I used for this RP I took directly from the last one, which I'm certain didn't have one either. We would all be able to write down our characters' histories if we so chose, and add them to our CSes.
I know everyone is freaking out that Gren has the possibility of being a mobile nuclear disaster, and to be frank, that's kinda the intention of this is discovered IC. I want to see how people would react: Would they see Gren as a threat that needs to be destroyed? Or will they try to help him go for a cleaner, less dangerous alternative? Because I will admit: Gren likes power. He likes the idea that even in his weakest state, he could destroy many people, and many things. The fact that he keeps it a secret is one of the reasons he's seeking Sapphire's position of leadership because he can't be open about how dangerous he can be, like how he was back when he ran with the White Fang. If anyone bothers to try to interact with him and know this side of him, they can chose for themselves if Gren is a dangerous maniac that needs to be put down, or maybe he has issues that need to be addressed and convince him to let go of his power-hungry rage boner.

Hell, the whole reason I even bothered to mention it OoC is to see how people would react to it. And from what it looks like, there is a lot of fear and hatred for what Gren is. For whatever reason. What will you do about it?

Frankly speaking, aside from trying not to be open about it Gren hasn't really bothered to try to hide the fact he's a Cyborg. He's already a hulking, bulking orc wearing his armor almost all the time, and has rocket boosters coming out of his armor. Now maybe being a walking nuclear reactor would set off more alarms, but I figured Ozpin wouldn't judge someone for who or what they are. But it's not like he's the final word for admittance into Beacon or anything.

I get what you're going for, but beneath the psychological implications I can't unsee a really well thought-out excuse to make the most powerful character in the RP even more ludicrously powerful. If you put the fact that he has a potential nuclear bomb in his chest in his sheet, I would not have approved it. It's just too ludicrous. He wouldn't get into the school. When something is OP and nonsensical, the people who are saying it's OP and nonsensical aren't being intolerant/judging someone for who or what they are. Being a walking warhead is not a maybe setting off alarms thing; it is a definite thing.

@Prince of Seraphs, @Lugubrious, @Lucius Cypher - Alright, well since this is becoming a slight problem. What say you to rewriting Gren's "nuclear reactor' to something akin to a Soul Drive/Solar Furnace/Dust Core?

We don't need to put it to a vote. It's denied almost unanimously. The only voice arguing in favor of this change is Lucius himself. Lucius, I do regard this as a change because it was never told to me privately or put in the CS. Looking it over, the CS doesn't enumerate any lusts for personal power or gratification in the idea of being able to kill anyone around him at any given time, nor anything that implies them. At the very most it's describing a possible unintentional tendency to take charge of a situation. Gren's been exhibiting a pretty powerful violent streak and disregard for morals and others' wellbeing since mission 1. While on the topic your character, Prince brings up a very good point. Exactly what is Gren's weakness? He has the most firepower out of any character in this RP, potentially, as well as state-of-the-art armor, aura defense despite having next to no organic parts in his body, a semblance that is capable of crippling anyone's movement, and numerous other benefits.

Up until recently, we didn't know a great deal about Penny. We still don't know exactly what powers her. Keep in mind, the scientific and technological development as well as funding of an entire kingdom's government went into her creation. How is Gren, who could shrug off everything Penny could dish out and crush her, so immensely powerful? The White Fang's Bullheads couldn't hold a candle to an Atlas carrier. I can't help but feel as if the liberties you are taking are a bit too numerous.

I've been okay with Gren's level of power for a while, given that there's simply got be a strongest character, but strengthening him retroactively is causing klaxons to go off in my head. I hope I'm not the only one who's getting the impression, based on your taking an already powerful character and making him even stronger and saying that people who disagree OOC or IC are being intolerant of 'who he is', that Gren's a bit of a Marty Stu. A well written one, but one nonetheless.
Burgundy Slate, Echo Marine, Tawne Adagio

Burgundy had hardly noticed a group of four joining her at the noodle stand. She was able to see them in her peripheral vision, but did not fully register them all. In fact, the only one that she did take notice of was the one who had joined her in scarfing down noodles as if it were their last day alive. She could hear them talking, but their words were just noise to her, drowned out from the noise that she herself was making in the process of eating.

She had hardly even noticed her own teammates appearances until they began speaking. Even just as background noise to her, she knew their voices. She was well aware of what Tawne had said to her, but she wasn't going to pummel him just yet. First they had to win the first bracket of fights, send herself and not-Tawne to the second round, and them beat him to a pulp for calling her a blimp.

Echo spoke out about the other team and their clothing, asking if they were competing as well, which was responded to with a smarmy remark that would allow Burgundy to now hear clearly.

"Echsuuse me?!" She attempted to speak with a mouth full of food. "We ah goin' to win it!" She swallowed down all of the noodles occupying her mouth. Meanwhile, her sunny-haired teammate down the bar leaned forward, snickering, to get a good look at the girl who'd just guaranteed that BEAT wouldn't be taking it easy on her. "You're on your way to winnin' our hearts at least. Hope the others think like you do--if that can be called thinkin'. If nobody's competin', it should default to us, right?" He glanced questingly at Echo, expecting to get an exasperating glare. Instead, he found a look of unexpected agreement, though she didn't share it with Victoria. To her, she merely offered a grunt of affirmation.

Luckily, one of the other members of the other team seemed to more enjoyable company, not looking to fully indulge his partner's answer about the competition. While a non-combat related festival would be nice, Burgundy enjoyed the good fight. This idea didn't chime nearly so well with Tawne, though he could appreciate someone managing to keep their ego from throbbing out in the open. With a gregarious politeness Eminence bounced the compliment given by Echo back into BEAT's court, prompting Tawne to chuckle. "Thanks! I got 'em at Who Cares Emporium," he jibed before scratching his head, confused. "The hell's a cosplay?" he asked his teammates

Echo rested her chin on her fist in serious thought. "Hm. Cosplay's some kinda dress-up game, I think? Dress-up for nerds. Right up your alley, bro." At this, Tawne recoiled. After letting loose a derisive pfffff, he quickly spooned in a mouthful of udon, gulped it down, and then replied, "Yeah, my alley. I'd give you a nasty look, bro, but you've already got one." Echo snorted and leaned back, prompting Tawne to titter. He edged forward again to peer at Eminence, to whom he gave a short wave after he finished talking despite the alarming look that crossed the other boy's face.

"I'm Tawne. T-A-W-N-E. Y? Why not?" His little jape did not seem to make much of an impression, so he adjusted his glasses and continued. Echo, aware of his love for talking, let him introduce her. "The stunningly moderate chick is Burgundy. Sure, she's got a pretty face, but wait 'til you see her other one! And the broad at the end is Echo. We're pretty sure family tree's a cactus; everyone on it's a prick, and really, really tough." His eyes swept over Daelon, Victoria, Eminence, and Lapis in sequence, internalizing their faces. Not being much in the mood for a punch to the face, even with aura, he hoped the other realized as well as his friends that he was joking. By now, Burgundy and Echo knew his derision to be the medium for his affection, but the others might very well get offended for their sakes, too. "Nice to meet you, but it'll be nicer to beat you. Right, Ech?" The bluenette nodded, amused and interested to see how the others might respond.
@LugubriousYes, but not necessarily.

say like, Echo and Burgundy against Eminence and Victoria, while Albus and Tawne fight Mikoto and Kallum. It might not be BE vs EV/AT vs DL, but BE vs EV/AT vs another pairing from a different team.

Right...I'm not sure how the rankings will work and people will be eliminated, but I'm sure you're on top of things.

To me it seems like if four team members can collab interaction, then can collab fights. Prior to this new announcement, I thought that we'd be having four on fours with character teams versus NPC teams (the Vytal Festival does have sixteen total teams after all, four from each kingdom. Check it out) and afterward the second round would have all-player 2v2s that would be easier to collab, still totaling only four people after all.
@greywolf375Like in the show, each battle will take place on the sky-arena, and will feature different types of terrain. Other than that, anything other than death goes.

@Larfleeze@LugubriousEvery character will be fighting in the first bracket, the 2v2 fights. It's just to make things a little easier in a posting format. Each team will split into groups of two for the first bracket, fighting against another group of two. When the fight is over, the winners of that fight will select one person from the pair to move on into the next round. This does not guarantee that each team will have two fighters for the four way match, and might also force teammates to fight against one another to move up to the final 1v1 bracket.

Oh, I see. My mistake. So we might have, say:

Albus and Burgundy versus Eminence and Victoria, and elsewhere in the same arena, Echo and Tawne versus Lapis and Daelon.
Hey everyone, I want to direct your attention to the bottom of the OOC OP. To make things a little smoother, this is how the fights are going to go down once the tourney actually starts.

Really? That means that at least two characters per team will never get to show off their fighting ability. What a let down! Couldn't we go through a 4v4 round against NPC teams to show off both our own and our characters' skill and full team dynamic before we move into more focused matches?

Do you understand how magnets work

I had heard that it is because of the earth. After all, the earth attracts things to its surface, and magnets are made of metal, which comes from the earth. In this case, the preparation of the metal preserves that attractive property.
