Bio

Current GM of World of Light. When it comes to writing, there's nothing I love more than imagination, engagement, and commitment. I'm always open to talk, suggestion, criticism, and collaboration. While I try to be as obliging, helpful, and courteous as possible, I have very little sympathy for ghosts, and anyone who'd like to string me along. Straightforwardness is all I ask for.

Looking for more personal details? I'm just some dude from the American south; software development is my job but games, writing, and trying to help others enjoy life are my passions. Been RPing for over a decade, starting waaaay back with humble beginnings on the Spore forum, so I know a thing or two, though I won't pretend to be an expert. If you're down for some fun, let's make something spectacular together.

Nah, the game looks good, even if there are a few naggers. I guess a name change is fair, but I still say it isn't a carbon copy of Anderson.
Maybe if I was playing a regenerator with hundreds of blessed bayonets, I'd see their point.

EDIT: Okay he's Antonio Hasta now.

Alright, thank you. I think you have my vote for acceptance, then. Please do note that your guy's blessed weapons are not going to be quite as effective or magical as weapons specifically made in heaven or hell, or from the souls of their denizens.
Alright, underlings, hold your horses. There are only three people fit to pass judgment on character applications.

First off, it is regrettably true that my co-GMs have set precedence for very nearly copy-pasting existing characters into this RP. If not for my continuous nagging, Lmpkio's would have been even more egregious. So there's nothing to prevent an expy of Anderson from being introduced into this RP. But the fact remains that clear expies of existing characters are in, so there's no reason why you can't follow in their proud tradition. All I ask is that you change the name so it's not incredible blatant.

Secondly, I'm fine with characters being in other factions aside from the big ones listed in the RP. In fact, I'm very fine with it. Meanwhile, the 'geography' of the world is not, in fact, different from modern Earth. Catholicism would absolutely still exist, and Bee's character existing as not only a part but an exemplar of it is perfectly alright.

Bee, I hope you haven't gotten the wrong idea about this RP from the other players' nagging. I think it would be fun and interesting for all of us for your unique character to take the stage, so long as you change his name.
Uhhhhhh, what happened to the the other Ace Hunter?

Hantu's character? Eh, what does it matter? We can have two old veteran demon hunters. We already have three female demons and a bunch of cyborgs. I like Akoni and submit my bid for his approval. The fighting style and the character certainly intrigue me.
Oh sweet, I loved Devil May Cry! Do you mind if I make an angel character vaguely like the Joys from Bayonetta, but more intended for their whole "mimicking humans" thing than the whole "mimicking Bayonetta" thing?

Sounds like a plan to me.
Do demon PCs become Devil Arms after they're killed? Can I create a demon character that someone can kill to get a Devil Arm?

Potentially, yes, but if that's the extent of your desire to use that character, I'd recommend filled out an abbreviated sheet to give to me that I can put into the Demonomicon.

That brings me to a new point: if any of you please, you can submit sheets for angels or demons for a chance to get into the RP's database. That can be completely unique, or 'species' of which there might be many. If you want to do so, please use the following sheet:

Name: (Adhere to naming conventions for angels and demons)
Faction: (Heaven or Hell)
Subfaction: (Hierarchy of Laguna or Army of Light for Heaven; Mundus Allegiance or Rogue for Hell)
Power Level: (See tiers and sphere rankings. You can get specific, such as 'mid-Fiend' or 'Second Sphere Principality'
Description: (combined personality and functionality)
Armament: (if applicable)
Abilities:
Appearance: (Beings of the Hierarchy are organic monsters inside gold and marble shells; angels of the Army of Light are humanoid and winged; demons have no set form, but some are inorganic creatures of metal)
I'd be alright with getting you guys in a collab and providing dialogue for Buer. Any number of things can be done with him, but freeing him would not be the easiest thing in the world.
Question for any of the GMs. There isn't really a rules section on the first page so I was wondering if there was a minimum requirement of activity? A certain number of posts necessary per week or some other gauge.

I think Sho can attest to the effectiveness of the following system that I use in all of my RPs, the use of which I advocate here:

Expected activity level is multiple posts per week. One is permissible if there's no alternative. If someone isn't going to be able to post for a couple days, notification of such is very much appreciated. If a person doesn't post for one week, and doesn't give any notification, they're subject to a mandatory affirmation call and have a day to respond. If the roll call is failed, the person in question is kicked out.

That might seem strict, but really it's very easy.

@Lugubrious Now that you've brought up Summoning, I'm tempted to make either an Umbra Witch or a completely unaffiliated occultist. What are your thoughts? Do we already have enough characters? Would the plot benefit from either an unaffiliated third party or a witch?

I'm a firm believer in two characters per person max, if they're inclined. It can be difficult to get interaction going if a person controls only one character, and if that one gets stuck waiting for someone else, things can get boring quickly, so having another to play off of or have do something else is good. Having a secondary character also allows you to experiment with something different, which can also heighten fun.

Obviously, GMs aren't subject to the character limits. As for introducing a new character now, I'd wait until the battle for the second seal is concluding and Chapter 1 can begin.

Speaking of which, I'm anxious to see what other people are coming up with in response to my last post. We now have a defined convergence point.
Suddenly I'm kinda glad I went Nephilim. Though I feel I may have short myself on the powers...

Innate magical proficiency means that you're going to be doing cool stuff, don't worry.
On Devil Triggers.

They do "unlock a character's true demonic form", yes. But it's not like Arrancar in Bleach, where it's a form change/stat boost.

In the DMC games, it's sort of a panic button. Healing tends to be far slower than what you lot seem to take it for. There is also a stat boost, but again, the statboost is marginal. The more tangible changes are towards moves; that is, one or two per weapon. For instance: Stinger, which would go through an enemy as opposed to knocking them back as usual. Sometimes, it also prevents knockback which can be pretty useful depending on situation.

I see. Well, we needn't be too stringent, do we? It would make more sense to segregate gameplay from story in this regard, if we feel like it would allow for interesting possibilities.
@Lugubrious
Damn, no edgy emo teenager to do deals with xP

That being said, the next obvious question is: Could Player Characters do it? Like Blair or Lily? Both seem to be in the "Intelligence" department of Hell (Sorry Fenn). DMC wiki does state that only certain powerful demons can take on human forms, and since both Blair and Lily have human forms... Is it the same minimum requirement, so to speak, or does the "Demon Contract" require a more powerful demon than even that?

Human form is a sort of restraint on power. Only powerful demons can do it for the sake of stealth and deception, I imagine. Still, I imagine that they could.

Keep in mind we're doing contracts the Bayonetta way: it's not 'a demon agrees to do x and whatever x is happens if the human pays up.' In Bayonetta, the contracted demons are physically at the contractor's beck and call. Bayonetta summons her demons physically to the battlefield, through portals, to attack. Humans less powerful than her would have less control over their demons, but still, it's not terrible advantageous for demons, so there's not really a good reason to do so.
