Elise Hartell & Scarlett

"L-Little one?" she repeated softly, looking at Nak with some measure of surprise, though it didn't seem to be a negative one, her cheeks even flushing slightly. Instead she just piped down for a moment and looked very thoughtful. Her demeanor slowly changed from this happy, cheerful girl to a more seriously thoughtful one the more Nak spoke. Her eyes flickered to the hobbit as he spoke as well, staring at him intensely before he continued on about offering his services. Elise pursed her lips as she watched her reactions changed, though her attention was torn as she heard the emotion in the elf's voice, offering an understanding look.

The conversation took a turn though as TC asked for a few gold pieces, making Elise raise her eyebrow at the small man. He was overpricing by quite a bit, though she wasn't all that surprised when Fionn accepted the deal. She took in a small breath and stood up, going to the river to wash her plate.

At the fire however, Scarlett just stared at her plate for a few more moments, the piece of meat only partially eaten. Silently, she pushed the plate aside, glancing to Nak with this.. determination in her eyes, a fire of sorts before nodding just once. "Fair enough," she admitted, though directed this more to the elf than the halfling. She turned to look over to Elise. "Please, the first chance you have, teach me how to use a blade."

Elise paused, looking back and blinking. "... you're serious?" To which Scarlett just nodded once. "I.. didn't think you wanted to learn.. huh.." She seemed to ponder for a moment. "Okay, let's clean up and then we can find a spot in the nearby woods." Scarlett seemed satisfied with this answer, giving the rest of the meat to the horse and following after Elise to clean her plate as well. As they both rinsed their plate, Elise looked over curiously to her companion. 'What's got her so serious, all of a sudden?...'

Before long, the two were coming back, to which the warrior motioned the redhead to pause for a moment. "Hey boss," she meant to get Fionn's attention. "I think she's quite serious about learning to defend herself - I think it's a great idea, so is there anything you need from us before we squeeze in some time?" She didn't mean to interrupt the flow of conversation, but needed to check in on the off chance Fionn had other ideas. Meanwhile, Scarlett stood silently, seemingly lost in thought but still aware.
Sofia Oaks

Sofia glanced beside her to the man, Ariah was his name, trying to charm her into hitching a ride. She smirked every so slightly - he'd soon learn that he didn't need such tricks. She wasn't heartless after all. Determined, but not heartless. Then before she knew it, the bitter one - Kairos - spoke up, suggesting she may be an agent of the madman. To that, she could only scoff bitterly, even mentally so. 'I'm no agent of his insanity.. I mean to bring him down to his knees.. stop this madness, this bloodshed, this war. That is my only focus right now. I won't let Ovelia die in vain.. not her..' her thoughts trailed off as she clenched her fist.

Surprisingly though, Nina spoke up, nearly hissing at everyone for trying to take Sofia's offer before Mila hesitatingly offered her ship as well. She could sense.. distance from the dancer, and yet.. she still brought herself to offer. Mila could feel Sofia smile, ever so slightly, in approval. 'Nina, I appreciate the gesture, but it's fine.. I don't mind more travelers if they wish.. even if they don't wish to trust me. As for the doctor..' She glanced over to the woman, sensing fear on the surface of her thoughts, bringing a tinge of heartbreak to her own mind. '... I can ask Corda.. she leads the internal rebellion in Sheolan.. she might know of someone.' Before she knew it however, the ship she had set sail on was in sight, causing her to look back to the two that had asked for a ride, just nodding silently to both of them. "I'll let the crew know that you're with me, so no worries."

Elise blinked at the woman's very abrupt response, glancing towards Fionn as he responded, setting the plate down as she finished. There was a reason why she followed the man - he seemed usually more adapt at understanding people than she ever was - or at least better equipped to hold a more friendly conversation and make people feel a bit better about themselves. At least that's what she always thought and he did not disappoint in this case either, easily replying to Nak as if nothing was wrong what so ever, offering her that warm smile she had grown used to herself. All she could do is sigh softly and nod in positive reassurance. "Silence is more valuable than most think.." It was really all she could think to say.

"It's okay!" Scarlett interjected in a cheerful, comforting tone, perking up. "You're safe with us.." she said in a softer tone, almost alluding that she somehow understand the weight Nak carried. "I'll just protect you instead!" The redhead seemed to beam, though it was a soft sort of expression, almost like she truly believed it would all be okay.

Elise's gaze snapped to the Scarlett. "W-what? N-no..! You can't do that! You don't even know how to swing a knife!" The worry was clearly painted across her face now, her expression going slightly white at the idea.

"Huh?..." Tilting her head, the oblivious woman looked over to the bladeswoman. ".. well.. so? I can do something!" she reassured Elise, seeming fully confident in her non-existent abilities.

"I'm not... I'm not letting you do that.. ugh.." Elise rubbed the bridge of her nose, sighing with frustration. 'How can someone seem so wise and inspiring one moment and then seem completely crazy the next!? She's going to get herself killed one of these days..' she thought to herself.
Well, I'm just going to post I think (sometime today or tomorrow).... @Noodles - looking good so far, btw.

Elise blinked softly at the marching illusion towards Scarlett before pursing her lips lightly in thought. Scarlett however just seemed mildly interested in the trick, not flinching as she heard a mimic of her own voice behind her. At that, she just smiled, choosing not to say a word before biting into her piece of meat. Elise didn't say anything either as she took the piece of meat and started to munch on it. The warrior paused a moment and looked at the meat, glancing to Nak just then and smiling politely. "This was well cooked, thank you.." It really was, making Elise even a little impressed.

Before anything else could happen though, Nak had asked a question and just as she was about to answer, the hobbit interjected and started rambling on about it. 'Hm..' The woman simply took note of it and listened as he went on, only to glance to Fionn as he explained the adventure they were about to go on. She wondered how Nak and TC would take the news. By now though, it should've been no surprise that Scarlett was no stranger to such things, so even though she didn't seem anything but average - the news of undead somehow didn't alarm her at all. Which only prompted Elise to perk up and look to Nak, remembering something. ".. which is something you should know if you plan on coming along - don't blame you if you don't - but you'll need to keep an eye on Scarlett.. she, uh.." Elise paused, looking over to the redhead as she smiled in return. ".. has a habit of getting into a trouble.. with no way of defending herself."

At that, Scarlett shrugged softly, giving Nak an innocent look. "Don't even know why.. I just.. have strange urges to help people.." She paused, exchanging looks with Elise. "Doesn't bother me any though, even if miss Elise thinks I'll end up hurt.." Scarlett looked over Nak for a few moments before clearing her throat and giving Elise a coy grin.

"Wha- ..." Elise seemed taken back by the look before looking to Nak, then the redhead, and back to the elf. "... oh." At that, all Elise could do is smirk knowingly. "I'm sure Scarlett wouldn't mind the extra protection however.." she hinted at with an amused tone.

Elise continued to stay near Fionn's side, apparently keeping herself quiet. She had always been more of a thinker and less of a talker, but Fionn had gotten used to that by now. In fact, the only person that made her talk the most was Scarlett - usually trying to warn her off of some dangerous path. That was her nature though - stoic, serious, and yet kind-hearted. Maybe she saw in Scarlett what she could've been from the beginning, if she hadn't such rotten luck. Then again, losing memory? That was pretty awful luck, she guessed. Either way, she kept quiet, watching the exchange mostly with a light hand on the hilt of her blade.

As the halfling came to sit by the fire, Scarlett offered a soft smile, laying the toy bird in her lap. She idly rubbed the nightmare steed's nose as she watched the man. Since she seemed so unphased by most of the going ons, it was hard to tell what exactly she was thinking. However another sideways glance to Nak might have given the tiniest of hints. Suddenly, "he has to know some magic." Her eyes found the hobbit once more, giving off a polite smile. "Otherwise he'd have more supplies for a journey.." She quickly eyed the riding dog for a moment. "Hardly enough food or drink, no weapons for hunting.." With that, she trailed off, shrugging.

In the moment, Elise realized she was right - how could one hunt without a weapon? Magic, of course. 'Clever girl..'
