@MafiaM16 How old was the topic you were trying to respond to? Maybe I just need to relax it a few more months. Edit: I'll just change it so that forums have different auto-locking settings. For example, the Off-Topic Forum has topics that have been dead for 2+ months on the second page. I think it's unreasonable that you cannot respond to a topic that's just one "next page" click away. I'll consider this a bug and will fix it.

I was looking at Iwaku for the first time, was wondering if you could have something like their Jump-In RP section where it is basically collab writing, there is no need for character sheets or an elaborate ooc. Some may say we already have free RP, but Jump-In RPs can be detailed and have high standards as opposed to free rps' one liners to few sentences norm. Finally as the name suggests, a JUMP IN Rp section would always feature said RPs that are always open for anyone to join in.
Funnily enough, the guild used to *only* have jump-in roleplays because that's the only roleplaying I ever did. I never even heard of character sheets or interest checks until early users requested a place to put them. On the forums I used to roleplay at, you'd just create a roleplay and hope someone cared. I think this could be implemented as some sort of toggle between: - Full: Roleplay is accepting no more players - Open (Jump In): If you want to join, just start posting - Open (Apply): If you want to join, post in the OOC tab to coordinate with the GMs Would something like that work? This could be displayed next to each roleplay in the list, and you should be able to filter on it. Also, added the tags that were requested so far:
I thought as much, but better ask to make sure. Such a shame though, I guess, but oh well. No biggie. This would bring up yet another question I had: Are similar Topics akin to the locked/multi-month old ones allowed then?
I implemented topic auto-locking with 1 month of no activity (only for some off-topic forums, not all forums) after a recent troll decided to bump many topics that were years old. It may seem like a "why bother?" issue, but I consider it disruptive since old topics tell the story of the time. As topics age and fall onto page 10 and beyond, then they have some relevance to the topics that also died on the same page. This only applies to forums like the Spam Forum that have their own subcommunities. Thanks for bringing this issue up to me. I had no idea if this was going to be an issue for anyone or not. I encourage you to pick up the conversation in a fresh topic. You may even want to link back to the topic that inspired you. I will add some text to auto-closed topics to encourage people that stumbled upon it to create a new topic if they wish to respond. Maybe it would even make sense to add a button that creates a topic based on an old topic so that they are linked in the system.

@Mahz Hey Mahz, a account that got banned quoted me, thus sending off a notification. However the post was hidden and every time I try to access it gives me a white background with the text forbidden. The notification is stuck there, anyway of clearing it?
There's a "Clear All Notifications" button on the notifications page.
Small Bug report @Mahz It seems if you don't close the color box before saving and resuming other duties, the color field still hangs around.
It seems you can also have multiple instances of this box overlay, not just on the last edited post.
Thanks. It's a known bug, but a bit tough to fix at the moment. :( I made it into a formal issue though: https://github.com/danneu/guild/issues/42

Hey, when I make quotes without the @QuoteMention, does it still send a notification? The green post creation confirmation bar seems to suggest it does.
I feel that the ability to make named quotes without cluttering the quoted's notification box would be useful, in any case.
It's not supposed to send a notification unless there's a "@". #willfix Nice find.
The new tags system is amazing, makes a lot of things much easier. Here is another aesthetically troubling issue, on the subscriptions screen, the unsub button is very disturbing. If it could be made so that it appears once hovered over it would be better. First off it is red (which is the strongest color in wavelength to the eyes bla blah scientific stuff) and if you have lots of threads subbed to the amount of redness in there just distracts the eyes. (Or is it just me?)
Good point. I'll change it to grey. I'll also add an "Are you sure?" pop-up to prevent accidental unsubs.
This is not red. - ed1c24, or RPG's closest colour picker option to red. Now this is red. - ff0000, or the hex for 255,0,0 in red-green-blue. Er... I was just bothered earlier by the fact that the colour picker's red is very I-accidentally-left-it-out-in-the-sunlight-for-a-few-weeks faded pink, but didn't bother to address it. Personally, I am not really bothered by the unsub buttons (and I am typically fairly colour-sensitive) - but I definitely would be by pop-in buttons. What slightly does bother me - now, this is a matter with this screen more than others (it is slightly better on other screens, but not good, and this screen simply doesn't go any more darker or more contrast) is the amount of near-white text on fairly light grey background (and in one instance, medium grey on light grey). Tag buttons? Near-white on light grey. Hiders? Near-white on light grey. Reply box? Near-white on light grey. The Unsub buttons mentioned above? White on bleached-red-pink. At least my eyes tell me that either the text should be pure black instead of white or the background should be significantly darker. It doesn't hurt (luckily - I literally am holding a hand in front of the screen to avoid seeing the gloriously neon tags of a certain RPG competitor whenever I go on that site...), nor is it hard to see, but it is a bit tiring combination in abundance, for the lack of better term.
Yeah, the guild is clearly built by someone that's never looked at it on miscalibrated, color-shifted, or low-range-of-color screens. I need to put work into this, but it's far out of my specialty. I wish I could see the guild on your device. Another problem area is the Guild's global background which seems to clash with every color I come up with for other parts of the UI (though this is more of a mahz-can't-pick-colors problem). When I made it, I was color-picking colors off oldguild and it's supposed to be #2F2F2F. Too late now since I modified colors to work with it a little better. Some examples of color clashes on my screen: - Global BG vs Cheatsheet panel BG - Global BG vs category panel-header BG I will look into increasing contrast on the grey-on-grey action that seems to be unreadable for you (and possibly others). If you or anyone else could make an itemized list (or just screenshots) of the most offensive parts of the UI, I'll try to fix them. Maybe one day a web designer will join the guild, but those are even rarer than web developers. And I mean someone that can just edit this file directly for me.
The rating buttons popping is already one of the most annoying features on the site... (Can we have these greyed out and permanently visible? Please?)
I agree that this is how it should work. I'd like the buttons to be desaturated into greyscale.

The upside of creating tags that drill down into niches is that it increases the resolution of the tagging system. The ideal really is that someone should be able to filter roleplays/checks by obscure tags, and people should be able to pick the most accurate tags that describe their roleplay. Everyone wins. The downside is that the matches for each tag become more and more sparse. You either lump your roleplay into a more generic tag to increase its hit-rate (visibility) in filtered searches, or your give your roleplay a more granular (thus more descriptive, more fitting) tag. I think I have a solution for this: tag hierarchies. A tag can belong to zero or more other tags. Filtering on a parent tag will include all of its tag children. For example, Cyberpunk and Space tags belong to the Sci-Fi tag. If a roleplay is tagged with Cyberpunk and someone filters roleplays by Sci-Fi, then that roleplay will show up. And, of course, someone can filter just on Cyberpunk as they please. The key will be for the UI to express this and to keep it simple (no more than a few layers of nesting, ideally just one). For example, when filtering roleplays, clicking the Sci-Fi tag will highlight Cyberpunk, Space, and other Sci-Fi children so you understand the results you're getting. Interest checks are more likely to choose generic tags, and roleplays are more likely to choose niche tags.

Wait ok so i just saw the deletion of the little lines under the headers and i was wondering if there was something to replace that? bc i was just using them to make the lines as dividers and now that theyre gone i was wondering if there was another option?? whoops sorry im bad at putting thoughts to paper so to speak and this isn't like super duper important, but i was just wondering
I'll add an [hr] (horizontal rule) tag that will turn into a line.

<Snipped quote by Celaira> I second this. Also, I think being able to set custom tags would be a very good addition. ... or not. Now that I think about it, it would cause a WHOLE LOT of clutter.
I'll add Fandom and some other tags suggested. Maybe tonight if I get a chance. Custom tags would be cool but hard to justify the effort at the moment.

I usually have to double click the reply button when I post from my phone. It can be a pain clicking the little link to the last post without mega zooming, but it's not a huge deal. Other than that, the site works brilliantly on mobile.
Thanks, not sure what the issue is for the double-click. I'll see what I can do to enlarge the "go to latest post" link. I read that mobile browsers will give more weight to a button than a link if your finger hits both of them at once, so that's the least that I can do.
