I... well, I started off as a show magician and would do all sorts of acts and got paid pretty well for it. But over time, I figured out that I couldn't deal with that kind of lifestyle, so I moved, started a new life, and tried doing music instead. From day to day now, I mostly work on songs and make wedding plans.

My only reservation with starting from scratch is that you don't improve all that much other than the GPU. Processor technology has been kind of stagnant (though recently, there's been some mumbling about a potential uproar in that field), motherboards only change to adapt to new ports, and RAM speeds won't affect gaming performance. You'd get essentially the same boost with nothing but a GPU upgrade. If you have your heart set on a new build, I can help you, but if all you care about are sheer performance gains at a decent price, you can go straight GPU.

Every GPU is connected to the motherboard. Your motherboard connects all of your parts together and they can all be removed. It's like having a problem with your engine vs. having a problem with the circuitry in your car.

No; your motherboard is not compatible. You could get a new one and just reuse your case, but you would probably be better off with a new GPU alone. I can run through a parts list and find you one (though no guarantees that Minecraft in its current state will run perfectly because it runs perfectly on next to nothing—however, you'll certainly get major improvement) if you'd like. It would make literally every game better and probably max most of them out.
