"I suppose I will have to, if no one volunteers. Since you're speaking up, miss Angel, I suppose it will have to be you. Come now." She gestured to a dummy. "Show me what you can do."
Kassandra ushered the children into the gym, where there were several training dummies set up. The dummies had been magicproofed, fireproofed, any other "proof" they could think of while they were creating them.
"Now, let's begin. My name is Ms. Keigwan, and I do apologize for my lateness. You'll have a brand new homeroom teacher tomorrow. What today will be is a display of your powers. I have it on paper, but I would like to see with my own eyes what you can do."
To start with, she demonstrated her own magic, and conjured an illusion of a swimming, singing mermaid floating among the students. They could see and hear her, and even touch something vaguely solid. Once they'd gotten the gist, she dropped the illusion and smiled.
"So, with whoever wants to start, please give me your first name, and then go ahead and turn your skills onto the dummy there."

Well, I posted. I have to go to bed in like 10 minutes though. Work in the morning.
Kassy came rushing back to the classroom, red-faced and a little upset. Apparently the homeroom teacher had some unexpected emergency, so they were going to have to find a new one. At least it gave the students some time to get to know each other, and they were well behaved enough that no incidents had occurred.
"Mr. Brando." She met him at the door. "Thank you for taking over in my absence. I had been trying to figure out where the homeroom teacher had gotten to. Apparently, a car accident. And they call US dangerous. Anyway, I appreciate the help. They were going to the gym, right?"

To Jake, Kassy frowned slightly. "Please watch your language. And I don't know who is teaching homeroom. I intend to find out, as they're late. Please excuse me." She exited the classroom and hurried down to the teacher's lounge.
