@EchoicChamber I might have misread the opening post. Let's go with Illumination.

Ready for approval!
I'll see what I can cook up.
So I have 2 ideas: A shy Trickster and a Terramancer with a specialty in paper. (I figured that would fit since paper is wood?) WHich do you think would fit better?
"Alright, then." Devika ate at a normal pace, not wanting to power through her meal. She wondered what this day would bring, and how being in the shop would be. "It was no trouble to bring you coffee. I wanted to be a little useful." Devika definitely felt like she was going to be in the way for a while with Roxy's work. Being kind was the only way she could think of to ease that, even a little bit.

Once she finished eating, she went back to the kitchen to wash and put away her dish. Then she rejoined Roxy.

"So - the shop. I guess I'm ready when you are." This was a lie. Devika was not quite ready, but the only way to tackle fear was to go toward it.
Why not? Count me in.
Would it be at all possible to have a kid that's less a daughter and more of a ward? Kinda like Robin, but for Aquaman?
"It's alright. I suppose it'll just be a thing that happens. I hope you slept well, anyway." Devika murmured, trying to stifle a yawn. It really was too early.

"I'll be happy to go down to the shop. I suppose I have to learn how things work." Devika stretched and smiled a bit. "But first, breakfast for me, and coffee for you, unless you've already had yours. Let's try to make the day good." Even if the morning was just a morning so far. Honestly, what a response. Would it kill her to just say 'good morning' and leave it there? Devika realized she was a bit grumpy from lack of sleep, and headed toward the kitchen to prepare a brief breakfast and some coffee.

Once that was done, she went back to Roxy with a mug in hand. "Here. I'm not sure how you take it so I left it black."

Full Name
Kijani Ryane

Nickname/Alias
Kijani or Jani

Communicator Of?
Thoth

Age
18

Gender
Female

Appearance
Kijani is about 5’10, with dark skin, golden brown eyes and thin, neat black dreadlocks. She usually wears the higher end of fashion, having an odd preference for fitted suits. When not wearing a suit, she’ll usually go for brand name jeans, sneakers, and fancy tops. Her wardrobe is massive, and she’s always dressed for success, no matter what the occasion.

Personality
Kijani has a tendency to be haughty and a little stuck up at first meeting. She believes she’s more mature and therefore better than people her age, and tends to show that in her bearings to others. Most of the time she’s aloof and proud when in groups, sociable but not dishonest. She doesn’t pull punches in her speech or manner. This personality does not make her friends, and in fact pushes people away easily. She doesn’t care, or at least pretends not to.

If anyone were to get past the bitchy exterior, they’d find an intelligent, fun loving young woman full of passion. Kijani loves to read and has several nerdy passions, a secret joy for epic fantasy novels and a bookcase full of the kind of novels that you would think a girl like her would scoff at. She also has several nonfiction loves, such as stories of historical badass women, spies and secret societies. And she’d be happy to talk a person’s ear off about them at any time. She is happier when she’s not trying to be the best, and her personality would reflect that if someone was to become close with her.

Residence
The Hamptons in New York

Brief Bio
Kijani was born to two very wealthy, intelligent people who so happened to be horrible marriage partners. Her parents met up at a party, one thing led to another which led to a pregnancy, a marriage of saving social graces, and a baby Kijani. Her father, a top-level computer programmer, never gave her the time of day despite living in the same house. Her mother trotted her out when she wanted other people to see her daughter as a status object, but was aloof and critical otherwise.

When Kijani was about 10, she was kidnapped and held for ransom for about 2 weeks. Her parents paid, she was released, but she was never quite the same after that. In that time period, she’d come to the conclusion that she wasn’t wanted, and that the only person who would ever look out for her was herself. This has followed her entire life, and she’s been working on being legally emancipated from her parents before coming to Avalon. This is also why she didn’t have any one to say goodbye to. She just packed her things and left.

Reason For Choice
Thoth saw an intelligent, bored young woman not living up to her full potential. He took Kijani’s desperate need to see herself as different from others and gave her a real reason to believe that she was. Then made sure she was around others just like her – just to drive the point home. Even he as the smartest god had to answer and deal with others, and no man is an island.

Weapon
Kopesh – Nothing super special or sacred about it; just a weapon to defend herself if necessary.
Scroll of Thoth – This is the important one. The Scroll of Thoth never runs out, and has an endless length of papyrus to keep record on.

Powers
The three powers your character was imbued with. They are three abilities of any kind, relating to their respective God's field and powers. Explain with some detail.

I. Translation: Kijani can understand all languages, even ancient ones. It was a definite surprise for her to wake up and be able to understand everything she heard on the subway going to the city.

II. Read Memory: Kijani can remember everything she reads, and then put it down later on the Scroll. It comes in handy for keeping track of things, especially conversations. Kijani could sit and write an entire dialogue happening between two people in a regular notebook, then put it on the Scroll for This skill is always “On” for lack of a better word. She hasn’t found a way yet to forget a book.

III. Paper Control: Kijani can control the density and strength of paper products. That means turning a book into the weight of a brick, or toilet paper into rope, so on and so forth. This is what she prefers to use for self defense, rather than the kopesh that she’s a bit afraid of.

Other
"Never apologize for being the smartest person in the room."
Could I reserve Thoth the Record Keeper?
