Abandoned Hope

An Apocalypse Roleplay

Premise:

For once, it seemed the street preachers were right. The end of the world was nigh. Massive earthquakes were becoming more prevalent in the Pacific Northwest, with a 9.2 hitting Seattle just a week before doomsday. A freak storm in Chicago left millions without power, food, and shelter—and with the break down of law and order, chaos erupted. However, other countries fare no differently. In the Middle East, ISIS has devastated United Nations forces, and now holds Saudi Arabi in a death grip. England, successfully leaving the European Union, finds itself with massive food shortages as an unknown virus purges the land. Other countries look on in fear and terror, as massive hurricanes storm Australia, leaving many dead.

The disasters continue erupting, with all of the religious authorities proposing new horrors to come, each more grotesque than the last. They can only agree on one thing: the center of this bloody storm is in Altsoba, Washington. June 20th is the fateful day—the day, supposedly, in which the world shall truly end.

Hunters, exorcists, scientists, journalists, and believers from all across the world have begun to gather in Altsoba. Some of the townsfolk flee, seeking comfort in friends and family, while others choose to remain. It is these people who will shape the fate and destiny of the planet. It is their stories that we tell.

Playable Characters:

Locals (your bakers, teachers, students, so forth)
Outsiders (individuals who wanted to come to the epicenter of the apocalypse, must be a good reason!)
Paranormal individuals (minor powers allowed, demons, vampires, werewolves, and so forth can be accepted with GM approval—must send a PM!)
Minimum age for main characters is 16

Rules and Other Things:

1. This RP is high-casual, so expect a decent length
2. You need to post at least once every 7 days, otherwise your character may be killed off
3. No characters are safe—characters may be killed at any time (even mine!)
4. GM and Co-GM's word is law
5. No drama in the OOC, or you’ll be kicked out
6. Use decent spelling and grammar
7. You must use the provided character sheet
8. Locals and outsiders are able to have minor deviances—slight supernatural abilities—such as being able to see ghosts, good empathy, hands burn on contact with demons, ect ect
9. Characters need GM approval before they can be put in the IC (this isn’t first come first serve, quality characters first!)
10. You may have up to two characters
11. Locals and outsiders may find themselves turned into a paranormal (i.e. your human becomes a vampire), if this especially interests you, PM the GM
12. A majority of the lore for this RP stems fromSupernatural and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, yet this is NOT a fandom RP
13. Romance is allowed, but keep it PG-13 (fade to black, essentially)
14. This RP is realistic, and there will be gore.
15. Must be two posts before you post again
16. Villains will be played by the GM and Co-GM
17. Each character will need a unique color coding. Color codes may be rejected if deemed not visible/legible.
18. Swearing is alright in the IC--limit it in the OOC.
19. Contact the GM or Co-GM if you are unable to post, and we can discuss options.

Edwina Fairfax

Location: Dock 32A by the helicopter
Interacting With: Jackson @FrozenEcstasy, Armando and Lisa @AbandonedIntel

"Nice to meet you, Lucy. You're... Edwina, right? Yeah... I'll explain everything in a few. Feel free to intermingle with everyone." one of the suits said, smiling warmly at her.

Edwina's face dropped a bit. "It's... never mind," Eddie sighed, wandering away from the suit. Pulling her headphones over her ear, Eddie was content to begin blasting rock music, when she spotted the ghost a bit more clearly. Or perhaps, half-ghost would have been a better term. He was going around, pretending to be Batman from the sound of it.

Edwina grinned.

"Jackson!!!!" she shouted, practically skipping over towards him. "Still dead, I see. Nice, nice."

She would have hugged him, but she was fairly certain her arms would go right through him. Grinning at him, she was dying to catch up with him, only to have the two suits call everyone to attention. The girl--Lisa--gave a long and dramatic speech, detailing the struggles and history of the mysterious Powerbound Alliance. Eddie nodded, taking the information in, wondering once more whether this was the right thing for her to do.

"So, how many of you will call yourselves proud members of the Powerbound Alliance?" Lisa finished, a soft smirk on her face.

Eddie paused for a moment. She thought over her priorities, her family, her little sister that may never see her again. She'd have to ask, to confirm, one last detail before diving in...

"Is there Netflix there?" Edwina asked, entirely serious. "That might be a deal breaker for me..."

But of course, even if they told her no, she would likely to decide to go anyways. She had been saved years ago from the clutches of evil--it was her turn to give back now. The irony--a superhero named Lucifer--never failed to escape her. She hadn't chosen the name, but it stuck. It marked her. And now, it was time to defy fate and law and all of the forces that tried to make the world crappy.

Yet even Edwina couldn't deny that she'd be rather disappointed to miss out on seeing Sherlock season 4 when it premiered.

@AbandonedIntel So, to clarify, we need to post between now and when the heliocopter leaves, regardless as to whether or not we have already posted IC?

Mara Scelus
@Pikmin Eye @hatakekuro @PlatinumSkink

"Kira!" Mara screamed in terror, watching as her beloved pokemon was knocked back by the force of the kick. The little pokemon fell at Mara's feet, clutching onto the stolen pokeball all that he could. Gently accepting the pokeball from her, Mara glared at Charley.

"How dare you hurt him!" Mara screamed, her eyes practically dancing with flames. Truthfully, Kira was only battered from the kick, and in a way, it was fortunate that his tiny body had flown back towards Mara. Charley easily could have kicked him towards the river, had they been facing the other way in the fight.

She glanced down at the pokeball in her hand, pleading with any powers that might exist that it was indeed dwebble's. "Dwebble! Please stop attacking Purrloin! We're going to go get you a new rock right now. We won't make you destroy it, either."

Smiling at the now bug type pokemon, Mara's eyes glanced around the area, in search of suitable rock. The sooner they won the full support of the thug's pokemon, the easier it would be to clear him away from the bridge, and open it up for everyone once more. Hopefully, Rowan would keep purrloin from hurting the dwebble too much--it'd make it far more difficult to win its trust.

The Forensic Squad
Collab Between @Morose & @Lady Amalthea

"Sir, please tell me you didn't actually...disturb...the decedent," Cecily quipped. She bit her lip slightly, memorizing the precise location of where the gun was--though it helped that she had photographs of it. It would be a pain to do all of the painstaking measurements if the coroner moved everything around first.

"Oh please, inconceivable! I simple removed the gun," Wallace quipped as he patted the outside pocket of his jacket. "I have gloves on," he said holding up his hand. Reaching down he repositioned Danica's hand to exactly where it had been. The man was a bumbling fool at times and his methods were unorthodox but he had a way about him to get the job done.

Hopefully, that was the only piece of evidence he would pocket. It would be at least for now as set down his kit next to the body and started rummaging through it. Stopping he glanced out of the corner of his eye and then reached over, picking up Danica's phone and removing the ear buds from around her neck. Slipping them into an evidence bag he pocketed that as well. So much for him not taking anything else from the scene.

"Do you want to start a verbal chain of custody, or do you have the forms with you?" she asked, despite being dying to announce: It's a murder! Let's do the investigation already! We're losing time! But it wasn't her place. It wasn't her job to determine cause of death--she was merely there to analyze the evidence, to help the detectives understand each and every piece of the puzzle.

"Forms, forms... Oh yeah, those things that stack up on me desk. Loads of paper work. Too much time," he said as he leaned over Danica's body and started talking to the corpse. "Give her time, she doesn't listen she only sees. Now, tell ol' Wallace what happened here tonight?" he asked the dead body as he placed his hands gingerly on either side of her head and moved it left to right carefully before laying it back down where it had been. "No exit wound, oh your brain must look like it went through a shredding machine. Don't worry, skull caps are easy to do. They won't even notice come the funeral."

Cecily frowned, wishing to interject. But she couldn't ruin his process. "She's also got very little burn marks, but a lot of gun residue..." Of course, it was her way to attempt to guide him towards realizing the inevitable. She couldn't understand coroners, sometimes. They had started off as a corrupt political pawn, and now, Wallace had her convinced that they were all just insane.

"Did you change your mind deary? Was that it? Or was it something else?" he said, taking in what Cecily said but still speaking to the corpse. His head tilting this way and that as he sat cross legged on the concrete. He was an odd one, his head bipping around like an owl on a branch.

"We've got a private company running security right now, there is another crime scene up at the roof that is...less than ideally secure," Cecily continued, giving the coroner a rundown. Looking up towards the top of the building as she mentioned it and seeing the firefighters moving the truck into position so they could raise the ladder. The rest of the forensics team wandering about taking images as people were getting cleared out.

"Private security?" he pondered out loud to himself as he looked back at the corpse of Danica Graves. "Private means they will do a job, because you know they might actually get paid but we're city folk. We have cops for that, private will just have to settle with being good Samaritans for today," he chuckled with a bit more glee than he really should be right then. Cecily sighed a bit--she'd pay the private security herself, then.

"Tons of eye witnesses of the fall, none located so far of the murder...I mean, crime...itself." She winced a bit at her amateur mistake. Wallace cocked his head to the side at her words and looked over towards Cecily. the look on his face was that humor mixed with flat out disappointment.

"Murder? Oh you young ones, always wanting it to be a murder," he said making a tsk tsk noise with his tongue before waiving her over. "Sure, signs of a fight," he added as he pointed to the bruises on her arms, chest, and face. "Looks like someone even got close enough to wrap their fingers around this pretty little throat." Looking back at Danica's blank eyes he smiled. "Well it is a pretty throat, I am sure it wore a strand of pearls beautifully my little goddess," he chuckled under his breath. "But gun was in her hand, she pulled the trigger."

"Do you want the investigation closed, then?" Cecily asked bluntly, growing more and more tired of the coroners antics. As an avid watcher of comic books and movies, she remembered all too fondly an episode of Sherlock, in which a murderer forced his victims to kill himself. It was still murder--regardless of who ended up pulling the trigger.

Drumming his fingers on his chin as he looked over the corpse and rocked back and forth slightly. His eyes darting up at Cecily before his lips thinned and he chuckled a bit. "Inconceivable! Never close a case until after the autopsy, then still not up to us. The DA will decide," he said before he stood up and dusted himself off. "Bag her guys," he said instructing the rest of the team to go ahead and get the body out of there.

Closing her eyes for a moment to center herself, Cecily took in a breath. "Will you be needing me further, or am I off duty for tonight?"

"Oh yes yes. You can go. Have a good time! Smells delicious!" he said with a wave of his hand as he paced around the men as they started to move Danica's body.

Cecily nodded, pulling off the latex gloves and putting them in her pocket as she left the crime scene. Trying not to roll her eyes any further at the insane antics of the coroner, Cecily headed off to find out where Riley had gone off to.
Edwina Fairfax And Devon

"'Scuze me ma'am, I couldn't help but wonder if I could get a few moment of your time. I don't normally see women of your beauty in places like this," a charming stranger grinned, putting an arm on Eddie's shoulder. Somewhere, beyond all of the booze pumping through her body, Edwina knew that it was time to run. It was time to scream and go back to her room and never come back.

Instead, she giggled, playing with her hair like an idiot. "Stooooop!" Eddie shrieked, batting her eyes bashfully. "You're making me bl-blush!"

The stranger flashed a Cheshire Cat like grin, leading her away from her friends and out of the bar. A few of them waved over at her, cheering when they saw that she had bagged a nine. So much for their theories that Eddie was gay! Just like a schoolgirl, Eddie let the man take her outside, his lips like honey on hers.

Truthfully, she didn't have any idea what she was doing -- kissing wasn't something she had much experience in. The man pinned her against the wall, ruffling her hair, kissing her so passionately that she didn't notice the clear liquid he put inside of a drink.

"Drink up," the man said, winking, as he handed the drink over to Eddie. She gulped it down, and instantly, the world around her began to blur. The lights around the building flickered strangely, before dying as well, as if despairing over Eddie's fate. The man grinned, hoping that it wasn't merely a coincidence. A supernatural would fetch a far better price on the black market.

"Let's move out, boys," the man instructed, as a sleek black impala pulled up. He deposited Eddie inside, stepping into the shotgun seat, with goons armed heavily in the back. Two other cars flanked them as they drove off, heading towards the SEA-TAC strip.
