For housing, indicate please if you're like to live in a house (residential area), stay at the inn, or live in an apartment. After that, I'll randomly select your lodging for you based off of that information.
The map above is a work in progress, and may be modified if I realize that something key has been left off. The IC, if all the stars align, will be posted on June 20th. ;)
Character Sheet Feedback
Some of you have already made these, which is great! Read through the rules again and make any additions you need to *hint hint*. I'll give specific feedback to a few of you below. Please don't take any of this personally--I already love all of the characters we have. :)
@Witch Cat : I'm worried that he's a little too strong at the moment. I'd like to veto his quick draw ability, but I'm alright with him having spells already prepared in the witch balls. The witch balls I'd like to limit to fairly minor spells--nothing that could cause death, basically. I'm also thinking that his enchanted skill makes him too hard to kill, so I'd like to get rid of that as well. He needs more weaknesses than just iron, essentially. Rather than clothing magical, I think having some sort of talisman to protect against one type of supernatural creature would be more appropriate. For the cat, witches don't generally have familiars with the lore we're using, so he won't be able to really use him as one, if that makes sense. I'm also wondering how his mother reacts to all of his stuff, but eh, weirder things have happened. Then, for the schools of magic, I'm vetoing being able to create spirits, and teleporting items. The rest appears to be fine, with the understanding that each spell is going to be a long and complicated process, and that all magic will have a price. Lastly, Altsoba is in Washington--not California.
Sorry if that seems like a novel! Once those fixes are made, I think he'll be good to go.
@Sohtem : The only major fix needed is that Elizabeth needs to be in Altsoba during the apocalypse and all of these events -- she can't be jetting off for England. At least, that's how I interpreted the history section in your character sheet. Once that's fixed, it all looks good!
Though, with her skills listed the way they are, she doesn't know how to use the gun she owns.

Quick to anger and quick to fire, Lysander could have been described as a shark in his mentality. His public image meant everything to him, as he attempted to be seen by all as an elite member of society. However, he was also fiercely protective of his family--mostly because any damage done to them would hurt his own reputation. Self centered to the core, he didn't pay attention to morality.
As this caused his marriage to crumble, by the time his wife left him and his daughter narrowly avoided prison, Lysander reevaluated life, and changed. He found comfort and answers in his faith, causing him to become more understanding of other people. Now, Lysander has empathy for others--even if he continues to judge those he deems lower than him. He is genuinely trying to do his best, as well as protect the only family he still has. Even stronger in his own convictions now, Lysander is likely to think very little of those who disagree with him, but he won't say so openly. Instead, he tries desperately to get everyone to come around to his point of view. Rather than being amoral, Lysander has become self righteous.

History
Life Before The Apocalypse Born in Chicago, Lysander's parents quickly grew sick of the hustle and bustle of the city. They were rather poor, but were fortunate enough to be able to come up with the money to move to Altsoba, Washington. His father worked on the Jefferson farm as a stable hand, and his mother worked as a secretary in city hall. Growing up in a town where everyone knew everyone, Lysander quickly grew bored, dreaming of something bigger. On a field trip to Seattle, he was awed by the riches he thought were being made at Pike's Place, and quickly decided he wanted to become a rich businessman. Attending Stanford University, his dreams were soon made, as he grew a fortune in being a licensed shipping label printer for the US government. And while the work wasn't the most glamorous, it allowed him to achieve his dreams.
Through his work at the company, another CEO named Laura Kingston caught his eye. She was from Kansas, and after some negotiation with the board, Lysander left California and moved in with Laura in Kansas. The two of them lived in Topeka, and after dating for five years, their only child, Vivian, was born. She was named after Laura's mother, a strong woman who lived in London during the London Blitz. The two of them were married after Vivian was born out of necessity--neither of their careers would have fared well with a child born out of wedlock.
Their daughter was left with the nanny, and as she grew older, she became more troublesome. Lysander and Laura spent hours fighting over how to deal with her, watching as their daughter spun more and more out of control. They hoped that college would set her straight--and instead, it seemed to push her farther. Using their fortunes, they managed to help Vivian avoid prison, but the damage done to their marriage was too late. They told no one, but Lysander began sleeping in the guest bedroom, and eventually, in his own apartment. Within a year, the two had divorced.
Life Leading Up To the Apocalypse // What Brings You to Altsoba The divorce forced Lysander to reevaluate what he held important in his life, and he found comfort in religion. The Calvinist idea of predestination appealed to him especially, and he went to Divinity School, earning his masters in divinity. The church just ten minutes from his hometown was his first assignment. Enjoying getting back to his roots and having his daughter nearby, Lysander began to piece his life back together through his faith. He hopes that eventually, he'll be able to save his daughter.
When the apocalypse rumors began, Lysander knew that he would have to stay in Altsoba. He couldn't change what would happen--but he could help save as many souls as he could. He wasn't going to abandon his friends or even strangers. To Lysander, he had the ability to make an impact in a dark time, and that was important enough. The world was going to end--but he didn't have to let these people go to hell. In his mind, he could save them by showing them the love and compassion of faith.
Additional Information
Theme Song: Livin' On A Prayer - Bon Jovi Deviances: Through his immense faith, most demons feel uncomfortable or become enraged around him Extra Information: Ted the Turtle read the rules.
For once, it seemed the street preachers were right. The end of the world was nigh. Massive earthquakes were becoming more prevalent in the Pacific Northwest, with a 9.2 hitting Seattle just a week before doomsday. A freak storm in Chicago left millions without power, food, and shelter—and with the break down of law and order, chaos erupted. However, other countries fare no differently. In the Middle East, ISIS has devastated United Nations forces, and now holds Saudi Arabi in a death grip. England, successfully leaving the European Union, finds itself with massive food shortages as an unknown virus purges the land. Other countries look on in fear and terror, as massive hurricanes storm Australia, leaving many dead.
The disasters continue erupting, with all of the religious authorities proposing new horrors to come, each more grotesque than the last. They can only agree on one thing: the center of this bloody storm is in Altsoba, Washington. June 20th is the fateful day—the day, supposedly, in which the world shall truly end.
Hunters, exorcists, scientists, journalists, and believers from all across the world have begun to gather in Altsoba. Some of the townsfolk flee, seeking comfort in friends and family, while others choose to remain. It is these people who will shape the fate and destiny of the planet. It is their stories that we tell.
Overview
Location: The small fictional town of Altsoba, Washington Time Frame: Modern Day Rp Tags: Modern, Slice-Of-Life, High Casual, Advanced, Large Group, Fantasy, Apocalyptic, Supernatural, Survival, Mystery, Romance Type Of RP: This RP, inspired by Supernatural, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Good Omens, is an attempt to examine the end of the world, by means of the Judeo-Christian Apocalypse. Your characters can and will die, determined by a randomization tactic. Be prepared for this to happen at any moment. Furthermore, a little note about your GM--I'm not religious myself in RL, so we won't be following any translation of the Book of Revelations exactly as you may hope. Supernatural lore, as it is confirmed, will be added below. GM and Co-GM have the final say on what's real and what isn't. Age Requirements: Minimal age for characters is 16.
Town Details and Specifics
-Jake's: A cozy bar and restaurant, and a typical gathering place for those coming in out of town. They have the best burger in the county (though really, it isn't that impressive...) They do, however, stock a lot of beers local to the Seattle area. -Forgotten Relics: Most in Altsoba hardly remember that this tiny store exists. The Anthropology professor at Pacific Heights Community College is the owner of the tiny establishment. There are some romance novels at the front, but the majority of the books found inside are incredibly rare, each worth a fortune in terms of the knowledge they contain. Among the treasures one may find Raskolnikov's Decision, an early draft of the famed Crime and Punishment, and a rare version of the Christian Bible, featuring distinct variances in the book of Revelations. Most of the books inside deal with the myths of various cultures, including the monsters they so feared. - -
-Aunt Sue's Inn: This tiny inn constantly is shutting down and opening up with new owners. If something doesn't work the first five times, it's destined to succeed the sixth time, right? They try to ride on some of the profits of Twilight tourists, offering an Edward and Bella room for an additional $50 a night. So far, this scheme isn't working, and the termites are profiting from the deal more than anyone else. -Altsoba Veterinary: Formerly another inn, this is the only animal hospital in Altsoba. The first floor serves as the office and the clinic, with its owner, Dr. Deacon, living on the second story. The Jeffersons can often be seen here, hoping to figure out what's happening with their cattle. - -
Locations: This is a general map of Altsoba, Washington. Unless it is specially stated to exist on the map, you'll find it in one of the general area blocks. Lawyers, for example, would work in the business area. A tea shop would be located in the shopping area. If you aren't certain as to whether or not something is in Altsoba, send a PM! As places and locations are explored, specific businesses/places and descriptions will be added to the hiders above.
Furthermore, Altsoba is a small town. At least half of its residents have to commute to other cities, some of them even doing the hour long drive to Seattle regularly. Fortunately, there are three buses that go through Altsoba, as it is named Altsoba county for a reason. Most of the other nearby towns are just as small, with many people passing through, and hardly ever staying.
Only the high school is located within Altsoba itself. The middle school and elementary school are both farther out in the countryside, causing students to take the bus or be driven by their parents. Students of Altsoba High actually are studying in the old city hall building, and it is in need of renovation.
Characters can live in Alistair Apartments, in a house on either Sealth, Maple, or Grant roads, or on the Jefferson or Sanders Family Farms. The Jeffersons and Sanders tend to have to hire a lot of hands, so it isn't uncommon for some people to live on the farm. Pacific North University is just twenty minutes away from Altsoba, so some college students do tend to move into the residential area or rent an apartment.
Lastly, there is a homeless problem in the forest area. Many people end up coming down from Seattle and enjoying the unregulated space, as the Altsoba police make hardly any efforts to prevent people from camping out in there. However, bears and coyotes plague the area, so it isn't the safest choice. Characters may live in the forest area with special GM permission. Beyond this, temporary accommodations can be found at Aunt Sue's Inn, located in the Business Area of Altsoba.
Supplies: Given the two large farms in Altsoba, food shortages are unlikely. Cattle deaths have been increasing lately, with the Jefferson family putting a lot of cash into determining what is killing their cows. The Sanders Farm has yet to be effected, causing tension to build between the two families.
Water is never an issue in Washington, as it seems to always be raining. Plenty of evergreen trees surround the town, surviving as sufficient fuel--providing that the wood isn't wet. Most families own some camping gear, and the local Girl Scout Troop is always happy to (attempt to) start a fire. Some rangers live in town, but most rangers in the area prefer to live farther south, closer to the national forest.
Contact With the Outside World: While Altsoba is the center of the apocalypse, the outside world is not untouched. Periodically, either the GM or the Co-GM will post a media update, giving a snapshot as to the events happening beyond Altsoba. Some of this information may be useful--other information may just further immerse you into this unique world. On occasion, the news will report on events happening with Altsoba themselves. Despite this summary, you are expected to read all of the posts, not just the ones pertaining to your own character. Everything, eventually, will impact each other.
Altsoba's main methods of communication with the outside world is through phone lines. Unfortunately, trees fall in storms often in Washington, and the phone lines may periodically go down. If you attempt to contact the outside world, the GM or Co-GM will tell you if you were successful. Supernatural forces will begin to effect technology, and as time goes on, this contact will become increasingly limited.
The End Game: Stopping the Devil
At this stage in the RP, two major methods have been revealed in order to stop the devil from raining hell upon the Earth. In order to complete the RP, you must attempt to stop the devil. Whichever method you end up using is ultimately up to the characters, but currently, you are only well prepared for one method.
Method One: Just Kill Him This method is incredibly simple. The devil is still an angel physically, and thus, can be killed like one. Angels can be killed with angel blades, the most powerful one belonging to the angel of death, Azrael. An angel killed by an angel blade will be wiped out from existence. Azrael's blade is simply a more complete obliteration.
Method Two: Trap the Devil The devil was originally locked away in hell, sealed in a cage. He can be put back in the cage, if a ritual is completed. This ritual requires a talisman from each major apocalyptic force/omen, and thus, requires a bit of a scavenger hunt. Once the cage is opened, all you need to do is shove the devil back inside. If the devil is inside anyone while this happens, they too are stuck in the cage with him. Not fun.
Remember, hardly anyone knows how to actually deal with the supernatural. Your character may get lucky and throw a container of rock salt at an attacking demon, but they aren't going to know how to deal with every situation. A lot of this will be done through experimentation. However, some of the hunters gathered in Altsoba are the real deal, and they know what to do in these situations. If your character knows what to do, the GM will send you a PM with instructions or detail said instructions in the update.
Most of the combat with the supernatural is going to be a trial and error process. Your characters will die--have back-ups ready!
If your character has a deviance, the GM will take note of it. If a situation will impact your character due to the deviance, the GM will either PM you or make a note of it in the update post. These deviances are minor and not extraordinary--they're similar to the old notion that your grandmother's knees ache when it's going to rain.
The success of supernatural measures will be determined by the GM, but anything goes. Want to have a seance with a killed of character? You can try. You may just get lucky. However, magic will always come with a price--you've been warned. Your characters will find themselves facing consequences from contact with the supernatural.
As supernatural specifics are revealed in the RP, they will be listed here...
Salt and iron can stop them.
Burning their bones will kill them.
They require an anchor to the world to exist.
Daniyal can sense when the supernatural are near.
Elizabeth's skin tingles before a thunderstorm
Vivian feels a prickling sensation when the supernatural are around
Amy has a sixth sense when it comes to figuring out what is wrong with patients
Danica gets cramps when demons or vampires are around
Demons become enraged around the Reverend.
Scarlet's hand cramps around the supernatural.
Samantha's nose bleeds around demons.
Jade has heightened perception
Sylvia has a spirit that can foresee doom following her, requiring monthly blood sacrifices
Deacon, as a druid, has the ability to see Essences in collaboration with their Elements.
Aloise can recognize the specific demons she met in hell.
Belladonna has style.
Devil's Trap: prevents a demon from leaving
Holy Water: burns demons
Exorcism: There are several differently styles of this, but all of them remove the demon from the host. Some will send the demon to hell, others will force the demon to manifest itself so it can be killed or sent to hell permanently.
Flesh Sigil: If a sigil is carved into the host's flesh, the demon will be powerless
Ghosts: Ghosts can remove a demon from its host
Hallowed Ground: Some demons are unable to enter hallowed ground, such as churches. These tend to be the weaker ones.
Hex Bags: these can hide people from a demon
Holy Fire: Holy oil lit on fire, it roasts a demon.
Iron: Demons cannot cross an iron barrier or touch iron without extreme pain
Palo Santo: Stab the demon with this, the host smokes and the demon cannot move
Damaging the host may force the demon to choose a new host, or be slowed down
Purified Blood: This, when injected into a demon, is incredibly painful.
Salt: Demons cannot step over salt, pass a salt line, or touch salt. Touching salt results in (you guessed it) extreme pain.
Demons can be cured through the Demon Purification Ritual.
Demons can be killed by angel blades.
Demons will flinch and have their eyes turn black when the name of the Lord is spoken.
Witches can be taken down with iron.
They require hex bags or DNA to complete their long, complicated rituals.
They have sold their souls to the devil.
Vampires can be killed with a stake to the heart.
Fire destroys their body quickly.
Sunlight exposure kills them
Vampires can be killed by having their heads cut off
Holy items burn vampires
Garlic repels vampires.
A Qareen will appear to be an incredibly beautiful person.
They seduce and then devour their master's target.
They are controlled by means of their heart.
If the heart is stabbed, they perish.
They feed on human flesh.
They must be invited inside.
They can assume any shape or form.
Ghost sickness will kill a human within 48 hours, yet will speed up the more wicked a person is.
It can only be cured by destroying the buruburu (the original ghost).
Only those with a personality trait or physical trait similar to the original ghost can catch Ghost Sickness
A character's life can be saved by ending the life of another, provided the Entity or other demon agrees to this contract.
There are 666 seals keeping the devil from rising. Only 66 must be broken.
Time in Hell moves faster than on Earth. A month on Earth may pass, while ten years in Hell pass. Each hour that passes on Earth, approximately five days pass in Hell.
Rules
By submitting a character sheet, you are agreeing to the following rules. Failure to comply with these rules can and will result from removal from the roleplay. Please do not expect special treatment of any kind. You won't be receiving it.
This RP is high-casual, so expect a decent length
You need to post at least once every 7 days, otherwise your character may be killed off
No characters are safe—characters may be killed at any time (even mine!)
GM and Co-GM's word is law
No drama in the OOC, or you’ll be kicked out
Use decent spelling and grammar
You must use the provided character sheet
Locals and outsiders are able to have minor deviances—slight supernatural abilities—such as being able to see ghosts, good empathy, hands burn on contact with demons, ect ect
Characters need GM approval before they can be put in the IC (this isn’t first come first serve, quality characters first!)
You may have up to two characters, three with GM permission.
Locals and outsiders may find themselves turned into a paranormal (i.e. your human becomes a vampire), if this especially interests you, PM the GM
A majority of the lore for this RP stems fromSupernatural and Buffy the Vampire Slayer, yet this is NOT a fandom RP
Romance is allowed, but keep it PG-13 (fade to black, essentially)
This RP is realistic, and there will be gore.
Must be two posts before you post again
Villains will be played by the GM and Co-GM
Each character will need a unique color coding. Color codes may be rejected if deemed not visible/legible.
Swearing is alright in the IC--limit it in the OOC.
Contact the GM or Co-GM if you are unable to post, and we can discuss options.
Playable characters include locals, outsiders, and supernatural beings (with GM permission obtained via PM prior to making the CS!)
To show that you have read the rules, in your character sheet under "extra information" please write a sentence describing a turtle.
Characters
For this roleplay, you are able to portray the following types of characters.
Locals: These people live in Altsoba and had the bad fortune to still be there when the apocalypse happened. These are your students, your housewives, your cops, your flower enthusiasts, and so forth. Most all careers can be accommodated within Altsoba, by means of commuting to Seattle.
Outsiders: For whatever reason, they decided to come to Altsoba. We get a lot of people coming to hunt down the latest news story, as well as hunters...but these aren't your own options! All you need to do is justify them going to, as one character described it, Walla-Walla-Fuck-It, Washington.
Paranormal individuals: These are individuals with supernatural powers. Your vampires, werewolves, witches, and such fall under this category. In order to keep a healthy balance between the supernatural and the "mundane" we cannot accept an abundance of these characters. Contact the GM prior to making your character in order to see if we have room for a supernatural character at that moment in time.

Personality: Millicent loves laughter. Her ultimate goal is merely happiness, and she constantly seeks out something stable, something that she'll enjoy. Always on the look out for chances to make new friends, she's an incredibly helpful person, and takes a lot of pride in what she does. Prescribing a bit to utilitarianism ideology, she tries to do the very best she can do with the hand she's been dealt. She's positive and sees the good in others and situations, but not to the point that it's irritating.
However, she can groan and moan just like any other teenager, and despite the instability of her life, Millicent is a fairly happy person over all. She has a lot of confidence, but when it comes to breaking the rules, all of that confidence vanishes. She hates crowds and prefers more intimate, one-on-one company. Lastly, she's incredibly idealistic, still believing that she lives in a perfect world--even when it's anything but.
Biography: After the events of the Brexit, her family moved from Scotland to Australia, her parents severely upset with the outcome of the vote. Her father easily found a job in chemical engineering due to the large mineral refining industry in Australia, and her mother continued her attempt to write the next great American novel. The youngest of four children, Millicent is the only one yet to leave the home. Her eldest siblings, twins Ainslie and Bruce, each just graduated from college, being twenty-two years old. The twins nurtured interests in law and performance respectively. Millicent's only other sibling, a 20 year old boy named Neil, is serving a seven year sentence in Scottish prison for the possession of a class A drug (ecstasy).
With the upheaval of her family and her brother's imprisonment, Millicent has very little stability in her life. Millicent wants to become a psychologist, but largely, this is a reaction to her brother Neil's sentencing. Prior to that, she wanted to become a photographer, as she constantly goes through phases, uncertain as to what she wants to do.
She struggles slightly in school, mostly with math and science. The humanities are more what makes sense to her, but Millicent tends to make friends rather easily. She isn't ostracized, but she isn't the most popular person either. She's a fairly average kid, attempting to make things make sense.

Location: The Block Party Interacting With: DJ Lawson @Lady Amalthea , Riley Ridgeway @Nallore
"Hey, how are you doing? And sorry for disappearing on you, I was getting myself patched up." Riley said, hurrying over towards her.
Cecily smiled weakly, waving at Lawson to show her thanks. She ought to have gone and seen to Riley but... Well, instincts kick in. She had spent her entire career rushing towards crime scenes--it was a bit hard to go against all of that muscle memory. Glancing Riley over, she was relieved to see that none of the injuries looked too serious. The EMT must have patched her up.
"Oh, I'm fine," Cecily lied, smiling at Riley. To be truthful, she was frustrated beyond belief. She never liked coroners before--and now, Wallace had left a foul taste in her mouth. And eventually, he would leave a nice dent in her bank account, as she was going to pay the security team herself. Wallace was a git; that didn't mean she had to be one as well.
"What about you, are you okay?" Cecily asked quickly. "Here, let me help you get up to the apartment...You look like you've been through hell."
Throwing a glance behind her, Cecily saw as they bagged the body, removing it from the scene. All of the breaches of protocol made her nostrils flare. If Wallace was going to blatantly remove everything from the scene before a sketch artist could get in there, take measurements, and draw the sketch, so be it. It wasn't her problem--it shouldn't have mattered to her.
But it did. She could see the headlines when the case went to trial-- Murderer Walks Free From Forensics Mess Up! And of course, Wallace himself wouldn't be blamed. They would blame one of the forensic techs, fire them, and make amends to the public. That was how it would always go.
Cecily couldn't help but wish that the security team was taking note of the crime scene and the evidence being mishandled--maybe the terrifying Mexican would be able to solve it instead. At least, then, someone would know the truth!
