Eddie stared at the mask. To be honest with herself, the idea had already occurred to her. But in every film she ever saw, putting on the mask was an awful idea.

Won't my powers ruin you?" Eddie asked, picking the mask up tentatively.

Staring at it, Eddie could smell the nauseating scent of far too much candy.

Slowly, she put the mask on her face. It seemed to grab at her skin, and she nearly screamed, already desperate to get rid of it.

"If this kills me, I want a Viking funeral" Eddie muttered, before getting to her feet.

Eddie burst into tears, sinking to the ground. The mask clattered to the ground beside her, and all of her illusions faded like mist. She pulled at her hair, rocking back and forth.

"This is all my fucking fault..." she sobbed. The car with Mercury in it sped away rapidly. She'd never felt so hopeless.

She glanced at the mask. "Got any good ideas? All I can do is make fucking rainbows appear..."

She wasn't cut out for this. She wasn't someone able to swoop in and save the day. Shining a light on someone hardly ever served to hurt them.

She was fucked. And so was Mercury.

Eddie heard the massive explosion, and swore. Running as fast as she could, she couldn't help but regret that she hadn't worked harder on her mile time in high school. Her chest seemed to constrict with pain, but she made it out the hole, just in time to see Mercury get shoved into a truck. Biting her lip, she thought through her options.

Virtual image. Just moving where my image is.

Biting her lip, Eddie clenched her hands, waving them around in a complex pattern. They still couldn't see her. In a moment, however, she wasn't invisible. Instead, her image appeared across the parking lot, panicked and afraid. She remained exactly where she truly was, right outside of the lab.

No one was able to see where she truly was. Her image had been placed somewhere else, hopefully sufficient to be used as bait. The only issue? The sound didn't travel with it. Hopefully, her panic would be convincing enough to get them to chase after her. With the fiery bright red hair, there was no way they could miss it.

And as soon as they were distracted, racing after her, she would find a way to make Mercury vanish as well. It'd be difficult for her--maintaining two illusions at once. It might even killer her. But it'd be worth it.
Just a heads up to everyone: I've updated the established lore section to include details on supernaturals currently in the RP (though remember, your character likely won't know about these yet!) and to include the deviances. This list will be updated as various events happen throughout the RP.

Sutton Smith

Location: Jake's
Interacting With: Liam Matthews @Pundii

Sutton glanced up, wiping the counter as another man sped into the establishment. At least this one couldn't quit on her, and leave her to run the place by herself. Plastering on a smile, Vivian set the rag aside, ready to start the day. The man was from out of town--definitely not a local. Maybe he'll tip better than 15%... she hoped.

"Do you do coffee? Good coffee?"

Sutton nodded, chuckling a bit. "This is Washington--it'd be illegal if we didn't," she said, walking over towards the coffee maker. Grabbing a mug, she poured some of the fresh coffee out of it, walking back over to the stranger. "Do you want cream, sugar, anything? We've got the works."

She smiled, glancing briefly up at the clock. Still a few hours until the meeting, and none of the cooks had shown up to work. No matter. She could sell booze as well as she could sell coffee and scrambled eggs. And if the people were hungry, she'd make the food herself. It didn't matter.

After all, with the keys jingling around in her pocket, she was the new owner of this restaurant--until Jake got the balls to come back to town. Everything was perfectly normal. No signs of the apocalypse anywhere.

"So, stranger, where you from?" she asked, eyeing his press badge. "Here to get live, exclusive coverage on the so-called end of the world?" She couldn't help but like the guy. He had to have been one of the most attractive people in Altsoba County--though, that wasn't saying much. Most of the people in Altsoba tended to be perfect small town types, more ready to wrestle a cow than put on anything without overalls.

Vivian & the Reverend

Location: Number 5 Maple Road
Interacting With: Each Other

The Reverend sighed, his hands in his pocket as he knocked twice on his daughter's room. In his attempt to be more father-like, he had decorated it before she moved in. Little purple and pink stickers spelled out her name, surrounded with fairies and princesses and unicorns.

"Vivvie, sweetheart?" the Reverend called out. The door slowly swung open, and he groaned, averting his eyes. Vivian was sprawled out on the floor, surrounded by empty beer bottles and only half clothed. To the right of her, there were broken pieces of glass, and he sadly suspected heroin to be the culprit.

"Not guilty," Vivian muttered, her eyes hardly open.

"Vivvie, it's me," the Reverend said again, taking a delicate step into the room, pulling his trousers up slightly, as if the moral stench could stain the fine fabric. "It's Dad."

Vivian groaned, rolling over. "Changed m' mind. Guilty. I'm guilty as fuck." The Reverend shook his head, averting his gaze, while gesturing at his daughter to make some attempt at decency.

Vivian rolled her eyes, getting up and grabbing a pair of jeans that had only been worn three times since her laundry was last done. By the time she was fully paved, Vivian sniffed at her shirt. Smelled like beer--just the way she liked it.

"There's a leaf in your hair, dear," the Reverend added politely.

"And there's a stick up your ass," Vivian grumbled, her eyes flashing darkly. Pulling the leaf out of her hair, she would have loved to strangle her dear old dad, right then and there. They didn't have exactly the best relationship, to put it lightly. And if Vivian had her way, the relationship would have ended.

But for now, her work was in Altsoba -- and so, staying with the Reverend was needed.

"Vivvie, dear, could you just try a little bit?" the Reverend asked, his tone steadily rising. He clenched his fist, punching the wall in anger, before taking a few calming breaths. Brushing his hand free of the dry wall, he chuckled a bit to himself, mumbling an apology to his daughter.

"S'alright," Vivian said, shrugging her shoulders. "Today is judgement day, Dad! Are you excited? Your one way, express ticket to hell... All expenses free!"

The Reverend smiled softly. "Today is the day... our last day on Earth. Let us give thanks, and make love, not war," he said, clapping his daughter a bit roughly on the back. "Vivian, please, remember to come back to Christ. For the Lord is good."

Vivian flinched a bit, her eyes darkening, yet the Reverend had already turned his back. Spitting on the ground, she shoved past him roughly, and ran down the stairs, heading for the center of town. Hopefully, her fugitive would be there--and then she could get the payment she deserved.

@Lady Amalthea Well, I said Tryke would pitch a fit.... And this is how she's decided to pitch her fit :D
Cecily Ashworth

Location: The Block Party --> Apartment 3C

"Aside from being harassed by paparazzi and my pride slightly taking a hit i'm fine."

Cecily chuckled a bit, giving Riley's shoulder a slight squeeze. "Isn't there no such thing as bad publicity, though? Maybe you'll be even more famous now," she teased, quickly going into a far better mood. However, before they could head up, one of the boys in blue showed up. They quickly took Riley's statement, and Cecily flashed her little plastic forensics badge at them. She'd be filing paperwork later that would include her statement.

The pair of them headed into the apartment building and up the stairs, with Riley unlocking their apartment. "So i'm guessing that you are going to have to head into work again or something?"

She shook her head. "Wallace dismissed me. I probably won't be assigned to this case, conflict of interest and all," she explained. "But... I will need to go and submit my photographs of the scene, video, findings, and I'll likely do a sketch as well."

She laughed a bit, locking the apartment door behind them. Even when she wasn't working, her mind was constantly on work. And of course, she wanted to make things easier for whoever ended up taking the lead on the forensic investigation of this case. She had photographs of the scene before Wallace tampered with things--it would be an invaluable help for them. Not to mention she enjoyed doing crime scene sketches, even if her drawing of a corpse looked like it was done by a pre-schooler on a sugar high.

"Do you want one?" Riley asked, as she grabbed a beer from the fridge.

Usually, Cecily didn't go for beers. They tasted... well, they tasked like alcohol. She tended to go for things so incredibly sweet you didn't even notice the alcohol content. "I'm a light weight, but sure," Cecily said with a smile. Taking the offered beer, she went over to the couch, making room for Riley to sit next to her. She didn't know how her roommate reacted to Danica's death. For all she knew, she'd need someone to talk to.

And if there was anything Cecily was good at doing, it was talking about dead people.

"We can talk or watch a movie or whatever if you like," Cecily offered.

Tryke Lockley

Location: Altenian Main Docking Port A1

Tryke nodded at Tom as he went by. "Consider the request for help already submitted, then," Tryke said, her voice showing slight cheer to it, but her face expressionless. She couldn't help but stare at the poor mutilated ship, wondering what possibly could have made this make sense. She understood fits of violence and rage--but never why people would take them out on machines.

It wasn't as if the ship had chosen to do anything to the T-1. It was a ship. It could only do what it was told. In a perfect world, all of the problems and repairs would be done to people. In a perfect world, Tryke's job wouldn't exist.

Holding a hand up to her earpiece, she heard Craig come in through the com. "Hey, may or may not like this but I need a double crew on the ship you are repairing. Once the ship is repaired it will be confiscated until further notice and that pilot is to remain on the ship until Fisher decides what to do with him after he gets a chance to see the assault."

Tryke paused. Oh...Oh.... "Copy that..."

Glancing over at the ship, Tryke couldn't help but feel a bit of regret. An assault. That's why this had happened. "She could have assaulted the pilot instead," Tryke muttered to herself, breathing heavily out of her nose. But of course, out of all the T-1s she had ever met, it was the only one that took a semi-logical course of action.

"Someone get another crew down here," Tryke ordered, walking inside of the wreckage. She coughed a bit from the smoke, and pulled her glasses down, switching through the various views to see all of the issues. When she looked at it through ultraviolet, the blood became more apparent. The T-1....

An impish smile grew on her face. She never particularly cared for T-1s, but she hated the pilot already for his crime. It wouldn't be too hard for her to put an intentional bug in the ship, give it a chance to get revenge on the pilot. A gas leak would be amusing, but perhaps, too intentional....

"Someone get me some helium, please!" Tryke shouted, leaning out of the ship.

Rorus raised an eyebrow at her, before breaking into a large grin. He nodded, rushing off to get the needed supplies. There was a reason why Tryke had Rorus has her right hand--he knew instantly what he would want done. Pressing into her earpiece, she had it put her through to Tom.

"Have your team be extra careful, ship is confiscated and...has a surprise for our dear pilot," Tryke said, before switching her earpiece off. Cracking her knuckles, she and her team quickly got to work, with the second team joining them quickly. The helium was hidden discretely, designed to be released when the pilot came onto his ship. It wasn't enough to hurt him--just to make him sound like a chipmunk for a good hour.

Eddie let out a breath, sinking down to the floor of the closet. Slowly, she let go of the light, becoming visible to anyone who felt like coming inside. Recalling the conversation, Eddie paused. Tia was going to the lab. She then looked over at the tubes of elements. Another glance, and she saw the level on the wall, designed to be pulled in case an emergency quarantine was ever needed.

Stepping out of the closet carefully, Eddie grabbed all of the tubes, and threw them to the ground. Holding her breath, she pulled down the alarm, and grabbed a fume mask from the first aid kit. Taking in a nice, refreshing breath of oxygen, Eddie watched as a deadly cocktail of elements was released in the air, the lights flashing as the doors of the laboratory shut. Metal reinforcements came clattering down, effectively keeping everyone out-- and trapping anyone inside within.

It was more dangerous for this poisonous gas to be released. Everyone inside would have to make do, to survive.

"Part one of Eddie's amazingly improvised plan complete," Eddie muttered to herself, putting the strap on of the mask. She grabbed a fresh lab coat from the closet and put it on over her casual clothes, pausing as she glanced at the door. Distantly, she could hear the swearing and pounding of feet, as people rushed for the oxygen masks.

Hopefully, Mercury wouldn't need one. But then again, it wasn't a detail that would come up in conversation normally.

Concentrating rather hard, Eddie turned herself invisible once more, exiting the room after grabbing Mercury's remaining masks, and into the hallway. Hopefully, she'd be able to get Mercury away from Tia and the others. If not, well.... She didn't have super powers for nothing.

”Now I remember! Abela was a drug kingpin I brutally slaughtered a two years ago. He swore a smart lady would avenge him, well at first that’s what I thought he said. He spoke spanish, and Tia in that language means lady.“

Eddie grimaced, looking down at the table covered in Mercury's blood. She had no way to tell if Tia had taken some of it--she easily could have. However, it was a bit funny. The world's leading expert on dark matter working for some king pin. It wasn't what she expected.

"Then I think your friends may want to have a chat with you," Eddie quipped, her eyes darting towards the exit. Thundering footsteps were coming closer and closer towards them, increasing in volume and pitch each moment. Eddie's heart skipped a beat, her powers instinctively beginning to kick in, drawing the light out of the lights and into her hands.

She smiled nervously. "I've got a bad feeling about this..."

”Hide in the closet, and go invisible. That should be enough to confuse them, and make them go away so we can escape. Hurry.“

She paused, watching as her bird friend shifted into the shape of one of the intern's. She knew that if she focused enough, she could create an illusion beyond just concealing something. But she wouldn't be able to hold it very long. Creating a virtual image to replace a real one... That was a pain in the ass. Her record for holding it was a matter of seconds.

Stepping into the closet, Edwina scowled a bit, feeling like a little girl. But true to her word, she blocked the light that bounced off of her from interacting with other people. To them, she'd be invisible. But at least, with the light still hitting her own eyes, she could see.

Hopefully, Mercury had a plan.
