Eddie nodded, continuing to sulk. "She thought I was an assistant." Rolling her eyes, Eddie repositioned the laser, popping in a different tube for the next round of data taking. Pausing, she stopped the web of darkness she had built around Mercury, allowing light to interact with him once more.

"You look a thousand times better," Eddie grinned. "Good thing Tia Abela didn't see you, right?"

Eddie walked across the room, opening up a tiny fridge. She wasn't certain what he ate, but she was starving. Grabbing a bag of gummy worms and two sodas, she went back, opening one of the sodas for him, and offering him a worm. "She isn't one of your enemies or anything, right?"

Edwina nodded, letting her take the file. She scowled a bit about her comment on the ink. "I told you, I'm not his fucking assistant," Eddie seethed. She stared Tia down as she left, almost purposefully taking a piece of paper to spread the bloody-ink around the table more. It was her space, her research. She didn't care whatever Afonso wanted. It wasn't his space. In her mind, he could go pound salt.

Huffing, Edwina sat back in her chair, practicing directing light through the various tubes. The pleasing color arrangement calmed her down, from time to time. And of course, most of her mind was focused on keeping any light from touching the crow. She didn't know it, but it seemed to be actually working.

”Ow, who what? Uuuugh my head is pounding. Eddwina? You still there?“

"Yeah, yeah, I'm here," Eddie explained. "I've made it so no light can touch you.... Thought that might help you heal better or something... You missed the annoying expert on dark matter."

Eddie huffed a bit, continuing to pout in her chair. She was no one's assistant. No one's.

Edwina shook her hand, smiling gracefully. "Colleague, actually. I'm doing my own research."

Glancing at the woman, she couldn't help but feel a bit paranoid. Of course, she recognized Tia Abela. Her research was... Well, it was outstanding! The very best in its field! She can't be working for some hit group, can she? Edwina pondered, shifting uncomfortably.

Luckily, no one could see Mercury. The little bird was snoozing away on the counter, probably entirely unaware of the newcomer's presence. And of course, if Tia did try anything, Eddie had a nifty bunch of lasers, right behind her. Then there were the tubes of various elements, able to be broken and guaranteed to knock out anyone -- Eddie included, however.

"So...Is there something you needed?" Eddie laughed awkwardly, shifting from side to side. "Scientist to scientist, that is..."
Tryke Lockley

Location: Altenian Tower Repair Dock 15 --> Altenian Tower Main Docking Port A1

One of the more timid repair techs came over, nervously clenching a piece of clear glass, displaying various holographic images.

"They've...They've broken a ship," Midge explained.

"They...You mean the new T-1?" Tryke asked. All of the repair techs in earshot had gone still, hoping desperately that it wasn't so. Tristan was already a handful as it was--they couldn't imagine having two of him around!

Midge nodded. "Port A1 just notified me, they're requesting a repair team."

Tryke sighed, shaking her head as she leaned it against her hand. More grease rubbed off on her forehead, but she couldn't be bothered to care. "Do they even realize how much these parts cost?" She paused, waving her hand, unable to even instruct the tech to not answer that.

"I need volunteers then. Who wants to go deal with the new baby of the tower with me?" Tryke asked, her lips pursed. She wasn't going to take down people who weren't prepared to deal with such a massive ego. The repair crew was a family, and it was her job to keep people from breaking them. She couldn't fix people when they were hurt or afraid.

All she could do was try to stop that from happening.

Eventually, four people volunteered to go down with her. Tryke nodded, putting her gloves back on, and grabbing her tools. Some of the other repair techs brought with them scanners, ready to take notes and assess the damage. Once done, they'd drag the ship off to the repair docks...god willing.

The group headed over to the elevator, Tryke scanning her tag to unlock it. Security was pretty tight on the ship, so after scanning, she had to punch in her code as well. While she saw the reason for it, she couldn't help but be annoyed at the waste of time and energy. Only an idiot would try to steal a broken ship.

The elevator shot down to the main docking ports. Stepping out, Tryke blew on her bangs, getting them out of her eyes. In her mind, her and her team looked, well, badass. Instead, in jumpsuits covered in grease and sweat, they more looked awkward and nerdy. Quickly, she honed in on the new T-1, her eyes narrowing.

However, taking a glance over at the ship, she paused in her tracks. Her eyes widening, she wiped away a single tear.

"This is so much worse than Tristan..." Tryke murmured, discreetly handing the bolts she had bet over to Rorus. Attempting to breathe, Tryke looked at the poor wounded angel. Of course, a bloody T-1 had done this! It was typical behavior, they never considered the feelings of... Well, of machines!

Marching over towards the ship, Tryke glared at the T-1. Had she not learned to bite her tongue around Tristan, she would have screamed at the girl. Maybe knocked her around too. Instead, she almost defensively began checking out the ship, looking it over for any more damage.

The entire world -- those with electricity -- glued themselves to the television set. Amelia Pilkvist, anchor for World News Now, forced a grim smile. Live footage from around the world came streaming in, and as the red light flickered on the camera, she began to summarize the daily casualties:

"Good morning, I'm Amelia Pilkvist, and here's the news. Today around 3 A.M. in California, three successive earthquakes have left millions without shelter, food, or water. Emergency personnel are still attempting to search for survivors, and the estimated death toll stands at 2,147. At least 8,486 people are injured, and another 3,691 have been reported missing."

The background behind her displayed footage of the deadly quake, skyscrapers seemingly swallowed up by the ground, tossed around, and thrown aside. Screams and fire and chaos were commonplace.

"Some are beginning to question the notion that the center of this bizarre string of tragedies is in Altsoba, Washington," Pilkvist continued. "At the moment, our live feed shows no signs of tragedy in the town--though, the scent of cow manure drifting off from the highway may certainly count as one. We'll be back with an update at noon, with live coverage of the Altsoba Town Meeting."

Pilkvist smiled. "And now, it's time for sports."

Sutton Smith

Location: Jake's
Interacting With: Jake Anderson

Sutton sighed, switching the television off. Her hair cascaded to her shoulder, never ceasing to curl--and more irritatingly, to tangle. Wiping down the table, she heard the door jingle as someone walked in.

"We're not open yet!" Sutton shouted, folding up the rag neatly and setting it down on the table. Turning around, she rolled her eyes a bit. It was Jake Anderson himself. Sutton couldn't help but note the bags underneath his eyes, the five o'clock shadow that must have felt like sandpaper. His eyes were bloodshot, and his clothing was covered with stains and crinkled, as if he had been chased by the devil himself.

"Listen, Susan," Jake began, throwing his keys at her.

"It's Sutton" she interjected, catching them deftly. It was heavier than the normal set that she used--much heavier. A few of the keys on the ring looked foreign, hardly anything she had been allowed to use before. Some of them she hadn't the faintest idea what they want to.

Jake shrugged. "Whatever. Point is, I'm out of here. Going to be with my sister, away from all of this...this shit!" Pressing his hair upwards, Jake laughed a bit. "Congratulations-the place is yours."

Sutton blinked. Instantly, her neck began to itch, and an urge to run out of the place screaming filled her. The keys felt like an anchor, weighing her down, and confining her to the shabby little bar. She hated being tied down--there was a reason that she hadn't looked into buying a house, and that the rent on her apartment was a month by month basis. This wasn't where she wanted to die.

"Is this about the apocalypse bullshit?" Sutton asked bluntly. "You know none of that's real, right?"

Jake laughed a bit, grabbing the door and rushing out of it. Before he left, however, he added, "The Lord comes for us all in the end, sweetheart! Get your ass out of town if you're smart, you'll regret it!"

The door shut with a slam behind him, and Sutton let out a sigh. She had seen all of the news reports- and still, she wasn't convinced. The world had always been an awful place, but that didn't mean it was going to end.

"More tips for me, then," Sutton shrugged, and resumed her work preparing the restaurant for the lunch rush that day. Half of the town, she expected, would come after the town meeting at noon. They'd be hungry for answers--and starving for Jake's famous bacon-burgers. Fortunately, it was a moderately warm day, with only a few clouds concealing the blue sky. Nothing was too terribly amiss.

It'd be business as usual.

”Man that was brighter than I thought, and that was none too bright of me to get so close.“ Edwina shook her head, laughing a bit. Walking over to the lasers, she shut the switch off, careful to leave the tube inside. To her great surprise, she had last been working with a mercury tube. How fitting.

Though, she wasn't certain how amused Mercury would be by it. He flew over and perched on her shoulder, something she was becoming rapidly more accustomed to. "I really hope your enemies don't know you're a crow," Eddie teased. "Otherwise, you may need to think up a new tactic..."

”Good news is, it looks like we are safe for a while… But, Seeing as I don’t want to jinx it, we should probably stay ever vigilant.“

Eddie nodded a bit, looking at the crow perched on her shoulder. Ever vigilant. Right. She smirked a bit, until she realized that the thing was still bleeding. Delicately, Edwina got him off of her shoulder, remembering everything she had seen. Light, as she figured, was toxic to him.

"Let's try this..." Holding her hands over the crow, she raised them up, mentally blocking light from touching him. He was cloaked in darkness. The only downside, however, was that no light could reach his eyes--as far as she was aware, he wasn't able to see. "I've stopped light from touching you at all," Eddie explained.

”Maybe grab some gauze… As some of these wounds aren’t sealing the way they usually do. Must’ve exerted too much energy, and sustained too much damage as well. Mind doing me a solid? Take care of my unconscious body for a while… Night….. night.“

She nodded a bit. "Yeah, yeah. You'll be fine. Don't worry. I've got electrical tape... That ought to work."

As soon as he drifted off, she kept the light from touching him. Grabbing the first aid kit from the hall, she bandaged him up, replacing the gauze, and cleaning the wounds. Then, she delicately put electrical tape over the gauze, smirking to herself slightly.

IC will be up in less than an hour!
