'M-Mara. You won't win.' He stuttered. 'Return Kira to his Pokéball, and let's run.'

Mara shook her head. "We're finishing what we started." Kira, Yanma, and Purrloin had already given it everything they had. It didn't make sense for them to not do the same. They owed their pokemon the same protection and loyalty that they were given. It didn't make sense otherwise.

Kira chucked the ball into the river, causing Charley to have a bit of a fit. The dwebble began to attack her precious espurr, only to be blocked by....

"Yasha!" Mara screamed, her eyes wide. She started to run forward, taking in the blood that was rolling down his arms. She hardly even noticed Kira's attack hit the dwebble, nor did she care. It was...it was her fault that Yasha was hurt. This wasn't some sort of mental exercise, some sort of fantasy "what if?" battle. This was real. Her friend was hurt.

And it was all her fault... Mara's blood chilled. "When push comes to shove, you'll push everyone else aside and run like the coward you are. Ya wouldn't even stick your neck out for your own pokemon would you? If ya want to steal our pokemon then ya gotta get through me first. I'll wrangle y'all like a livid Tauros!"

"You really are something. You just took a hit instead of letting this end. You are the single reason I haven't walked off with your money yet. So who are you, a rival group? I guess now's not the time. Finish that Pokemon with Fury Cutter, I'll take care of the trainer myself."

The dwebble charged at Kira, its claws glowing. It had already taken a decent hit from Kira's scratch. Mara took in a deep breath, thinking on her feet with resolve. "Kira use....Kira?!

The little espurr was glaring. The dwebble had attacked his trainer's friend. After they tried to help him. Completely furious and outraged, Kira charged back at the dwebble, his large, demonic like eyes unblinking. Perhaps it would have unnerved the dwebble. It certainly would have done a number on Dogwood.

”Es....PURR!" Kira practically roared, as he used scratch on the dwebble, ignoring the incoming attack. If this succeeded and took down the dwebble, Mara would then go to help Yasha beat up the thug. It was all she could do to make things right.
@hatakekuro Well, Yasha did just jump into the line of fire. The world should know him as a force to be reckoned with.
I hope the Dewmeadow Trio get a reputation for this xD Or Yasha, at least.

”So you study waves, and it’s affects on the world? That’s really interesting Edwina! Why don’t you tell me more, I like knowing how things work. Sorta my entire lifes goal is to understand it all, so in turn I can find out where I belong… So far I’m still looking. Twenty five years, and still no answer. How sad is that?“

"Can't be any sadder than talking to a bird, I guess," Eddie laughed, leaning back on her desk. "Don't worry, you won't mess anything up. The lazers and stuff are really just for show. I get far better accuracy with my brain."

She twirled her fingers around, as if to demonstrate using her powers. And of course, she couldn't help but giggle at the crow bouncing around from spot to spot. Flexing her foot, she let it rest on the chair in front of her desk, thinking that keeping it elevated wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.

"It's a bit complicated to explain how it all works... But think of each thing on the planet as being a tiny little circle, with waves coming out from them. That's what everyone is, really. My hand isn't really here--it's just a wave. These waves interact with the world, and so does light. But our brains assume that light travels in a straight path, so that's how you get what looks like a fucked up straw in your drink, when you notice it looks like it's split...but it really isn't."

She paused again. "Everything is just waves bouncing off and colliding with each other, really. That's all. Nothing fancy."

Glancing out the window behind her, Eddie didn't notice anything strange. Hopefully, they'd be safe at the lab for a little while. She wasn't exactly sure if the superhero police existed--their number would have been useful.
Yeah, no, you're fine! :D I'm just getting a feel for Eddie, haven't gotten a proper chance to use her, you know?

Eddie nodded. It seemed that Mercury, despite his claims of being some sort of elite being, able to hunt everyone and anything down, hadn't the faintest idea how was chasing after him. Had Jackson been there, he likely would have called it an amateur move. She didn't judge him on it, however--he too easily could have judged her for the numerous mistakes she already made.

"Right, normal girl places..." she paused, glancing at his yellow eyes. He looked almost like a demon, and she chuckled. Somehow, he was more intimidating when he was trying to puff out his tiny bird chest. And even then, he was about as frightening as a cupcake.

"Well, I'll just go to where I was going anyways," Eddie shrugged. Pulling out her phone, she screamed at Siri a bit, before asking her to take Eddie to the lab. The phone buzzed happily, and gave Eddie directions. Thankfully, they were in English.

She still didn't know a single bit of the language here. For all she knew, everyone was talking about rainbows and Donald Trump all day, rather than normal conversations. "I work at a lab, by the way."

Eventually, they reached the nicer part of town--and by nicer, Eddie thought of it as being more sterile. There was still some partying in the streets, but it was lesser. Tall white buildings with glass doors and a security guard were the norm. Eddie walked in, past the guard, flashing her ID badge. They didn't have the money -- or the need, even -- for a proper scanner. Eventually making her way towards her own work area, Eddie threw her bag to the ground.

"Welcome to my lab. I do... Well, I research light and its interactions," she explained. "Though really, I research waves in general... How they disturb matter... The complications they bring...Repercussions for the fabric of reality itself...It's probably boring you, sorry."
I'd like to commemorate this moment: we hit the second page!

Eddie glanced down at the painkillers. Her father had always gone on about how bad they were for your liver, but damnit, she needed it. Swallowing them all dry, Eddie tentatively wiggled her toe. Nope. Fuck. Hurts still.

"Hun, I'm used to crazy ghosts fussing over me," Eddie laughed. "Just don't treat me like a kid needing to be looked after. I don't need that."

”I’m going to be your shadow until you leave Brazil. So do what you came here for, but just know I’ll be watching your back.“ The creature turned itself into a crow, perching on her shoulder.

"Because, you know, everyone walks around with a crow on their shoulder," Eddie muttered. She rolled her eyes at his pirate remark. Pirates had annoying parrots--not crows. Still, crows were rather intelligent animals. She couldn't fault him for that choice.

”Look it’s also so I can help you learn how to protect people, and get vengeance as well. If you’re going to go after the bad guys, someone has gotta teach you the basics. Just promise me one thing, learn to relax, and have a little fun with it. I mean if I was all crotchety all the time, I’d have gone nuts ten times over by now. Especially with all the dead bodies I leave behind… Wait, maybe I have already gone bonkers. Eh, don’t matter right now.“

Eddie couldn't help but raise an eyebrow at the crow questioning his sanity. His imposing himself as a mentor figure didn't sit quite right with her--but for now, it felt best not to fight it. She'd finish her studies, and leave Brazil.

"Tell me about the guys chasing you, then," Eddie asked, offering it as an exchange for her compliance. "They had to have a reason to come after you--and a reason that you went after them. What's their deal?"
I'm gonna have nightmares about that dwebble. *shudders*

@Pundii He looks good! Only change is that fate (my random number generator) selected room 10 at the inn for him. Pop him on over once you've changed that
