Jack and Chloe

Location: The Hordebuster, Building 4 Parking Lot

Ashton saluted Astrid before the Hordebuster pulled into Newnan, and for that moment, Jack could see that the soldier never really had left the war. It explained the structure of Newnan, but also its success. Some of the cops, former vets, had that look in their eyes. Ashton had asked him to share a drink with him later--the man looked like he needed some company, some friends.

"What'd you like me to help with, boss?" Jack asked, as he stepped out of the Hordebuster. His eyes went across the way to the courthouse, and seeing Tatiana standing there, right as rain, he couldn't help but beam in relief. The pain and suddenness of Bazhooli's death was momentarily forgotten. His solovey was just fine, even helping out with the people in Newnan. He gave Tatiana a cheery wave, before returning his attention to Ash.

He was still new to Newnan, and uncertain as to what he could do.

Meanwhile, Chloe could hardly keep herself from shouting Riley's name. More and more people were appearing in this place. With each new face she saw, she couldn't help but imagine the next one would be Riley. Her chances seemed good--fantastic, even, compared to making camp in the woods, and being terrified that each walker she encountered might be her twin. But she focused herself instead on her patients. Both of them would need to be moved carefully and slowly, with Ciel and Ray hardly retaining consciousness as it was.

"Chloe," she greeted curtly at Meghna. "I can assist with medical. Stanford trained." Hopefully, that'd be enough to keep them prying into what she actually put her Stanford education to use with. Nursing drug addicts like herself back to health and smuggling product wasn't exactly the best first impression. And with the entire military vibe of this settlement, she wouldn't be surprised if they put her in lock up.

Beatrice Decker

Location: Building 2, Mess Hall

Beatrice stared at the armed guard, her only company since James left. He didn't look like much of a talker, but his station likely demanded that of him. She munched a bit on her trail mix, as well as slowly eating some of the food James brought out for her. Having lived on the streets as a kid, she knew better than to gorge herself. Her stomach wasn't prepared for something beyond a mix of walnuts and cashews just yet.

She paused for a moment, a bit of meat in her hand. Beatrice wasn't much of a talkative person, preferring to observe and then make her choice. But alone in the mess hall with the gunned man, she felt a bit curious about this place. "So, what's this place's deal?" She took another bite of her food. "You got a name, suit?"

It was almost just like juvi. The walkers were just an added bonus.

Dorothy Pender

Location: Engine Room

With Gideon focused on other tasks, her patient wasn't being as forthcoming as she wished. And with the engine bursting ablaze, Dorothy focused on what little she could do to help Gideon, instinctively arching her back slightly to brace herself, in case Lionel couldn't dispatch of the flames. Gideon's leg was badly burned enough--he didn't need any more burns adding to it. She gripped onto the wall, bracing herself for the impact, as it seemed entirely likely their ship may crash and burn.

It was already succeeding at the burning part. And it was perhaps fortunate that she had been an army medic before. Some doctors would have been stressed beyond belief at the prospect of tending to a patient whilst on a crashing ship. But for Dorothy, it wasn't something she hadn't been mentally prepared to do before. All she could do was hope that Daphne managed to land the ship correctly, and she had faith in her baby sister. If anyone could do it, it was her.
Alright. :) New thread it is. Expect the thread to be up by next weekend. You can reuse characters from Abandoned Hope if you wish. If you do decide to do that, let me know! You'll get bonus skills from completing this RP. The sequel takes place in a hotel in the fictional town of Coventry, Massachusetts.
Alright, Abandoned Hope 2 it is! Now, we can start the RP in a new topic, or merely keep on going in here to keep the entire story together. Thoughts?
Indeed she does! I left things open ended on purpose, as I'm not too sure....Well. Would you guys like to keep on going and return to the world of Abandoned Hope, or should we end it here?
AND WE ARE DONE, LADIES AND GENTLEMEN!

"Good evening, this is Amelia Pilkvist from World News Now, with exclusive coverage of the Altsoba Massacre." The woman forced a grim smile, before listing the details of the press release issued by the White House in the early hours of the morning. There had been, in fact, no supernatural activity at Altsoba, as Amelia explained. A hallucinatory chemical had been put in the water, and with the religious paranoia about the end of the world, the residents of Altsoba slaughtered each other. There were only a few survivors from the tragedy.

"A new cemetery, named Owen's Field, is dedicated in the memory of those who perished in the massacre," Amelia continued. "Forensic units are still attempting to identify all of the deceased. The following individuals have been confirmed casualties: Lysander Adder, Vivian Adder, Caitlyn Smith, Elizabeth Hawthorne, Joel Schroeder, Daniyal Lohi, Howard Brighton, Jessica Sorreast, Danica Graves, Samantha Hunter, Zachary Carpenter, Katsumi Mitsukuri, Scarlet Warrington, Sylvia Strange, Amy Chang, and Darren Andrews."

The names of the dead scrolled across the screen. As Amelia continued, it was revealed that the President would be attending the funeral service at Owen's Field. The town of Altsoba is no longer inhabited, with all the survivors quickly fleeing. It hardly seems likely that anyone will want to return.

"However, a small religious sect explains that the Altsoba massacre resulted in the death of the devil," Amelia finished up. Her smile, while still grim, had more of an air of humor to it. "And now, it's time for sports."

Six Months Later...

While the general public might believe that the apocalyptic events that struck Altsoba and the world at large never happened, there were those who knew better. The devil may have perished, but the supernatural continued to roam the world. There were ones who attempted to do good--white witches, prophets, and benevolent vampires--but there were also those who did not. The supernatural were called necromantics, and in the privacy of the Oval Office, a covert operation was set up to rid the world of the remaining supernatural threats.

The Organization for the Methodical Eradication of Necromantics, nicknamed O.M.E.N., was responsible for the cover up of the events at Altsoba. This organization knows no grey areas--if they encounter a supernatural being, they slay it. Some of those in the know call it corrupt--others simply call it merciless, efficient, practical. But curiously, its first leaders, a pair of brothers from Kansas, vanished two months ago...

Aloise Zamora and Liam Matthews: After the events of the apocalypse, Liam asked Aloise to teach him to hunt. She refused, instead training Liam to protect himself. The pair of them are roaming the country on a glorified road trip, with Aloise eagerly wanting to see it all. She wants to travel the world some day. There have been some attempts to recruit them by O.M.E.N., but the pair of them have shied away. They aren't that different from those O.M.E.N. hunts. A prophet and a dead girl are better off keeping to themselves.

Belladonna Crypt and Javier Crypt: These two lovebirds ended up taking another honeymoon (their third? sixth? tenth?). They're touring the sites of famous serial killers in the U.S., with plans to relocate to Transylvania. The love birds had already put a payment on a decrepit old manor house, when Belladonna became pregnant with twins. Currently, the twins are going to be named Warkleigh and Elvira. The Crypts couldn't be happier.

Eudora Erebus: Our little forest witch gets out of town, wanting to go as far away from Altsoba as she possibly can. And this turns out to be New Orleans, Louisiana. Rather than staying in the confines of the woods, Eudora adapts to a city-ish lifestyle, opening up a small little shop. Those who need magical favors come to her for advice. From time to time, a pair of O.M.E.N. agents will come in.

Walter Hanson: It didn't take O.M.E.N. long to issue an arrest warrant for Hanson, classifying him as a terrorist. His exact crimes aren't revealed to the public, but per the conditions that O.M.E.N. was created with, he'll be sent to the electric chair. His whereabouts are unknown, with supposed sightings in Brazil, Texas, and Alaska.

Jade Cornish: Jade returned to England, having had enough of the United States for a while. And instead of seeking her father's approval, she went to her uncle, the only real family she ever had. Working for the British government in some more than covert operations himself at this point in his life, he knew all about O.M.E.N. and warned Jade against bringing Darren back to life. She would be killed if caught. She currently works for her uncle in covert operations dealing with necromantics, at the seemingly more benevolent British equivalent of O.M.E.N. One week ago, she was contacted with an offer to run the American branch. She has not refused.

Mercurial Crypt: She relocated to Transylvania, having been accepted at the University of Bucharest. While her parents are still in the United States, Mercurial went early, beginning her program in psychology and death studies. They allowed her to design her own area of concentrations, after some not-so-subtle persuasion.

Seraphina Addams: The PI business is a bit slow in New York, but it isn't that bad. She comes home one day to find a street kid, Emmie, hanging around the apartment. The girl helps her out with a client, and Seraphina takes her end, serving as her legal guardian. But as much as Seraphina tries to find information on the supernatural, she only hears whispers of an organization named O.M.E.N. A letter arrives in the mail from Aloise one day, advising her to keep her head down. Seraphina is a fallen angel, after all.

Trevor Martin: His fate is perhaps the most tragic. As if the blood in Altsoba was not enough, Trevor was murdered during a bank robbery four months ago. With no friends and family to claim his body, he was buried in Owen's Field along with the victims of the Altsoba massacre.

And back in Altsoba, with the dust settling on the city, only a few paranormal investigators have dared to enter, dragging along television crews as they go. The town is desolate, a shadow of its former self. Blood still stains the streets, with no one daring to disturb the place where so many took their last breaths.

But within the Reverend's old house, something begins to move...

Jack and Chloe

Location: The Hordebuster

Jack climbed into the passenger's side of the truck, coming to almost the same realization as Ash a minute later. He was still a newcomer to Newnan, but Ash was just about the only Newnanite left. How often did they have days like this? His heart was weary at the thought of Bazhooli, robbed of his life, robbed of his chance at another family. And Tatiana, all along in Newnan...

"I could use a drink," Jack replied, his face tired and grim. He hoped Tatiana loved that damn cat. It'd be awkward if she changed her mind about him. He took a deep breath, attempting to reassure himself that Tatiana was fine, but ever since they'd arrived in Newnan, he couldn't help but feel tragedies unfolded. Was there some sort of curse at play?

Chloe, meanwhile, was doing her best to assist Ray and Ciel in the back of the truck. The kid had fallen asleep, and she couldn't help but hope it'd turn out to be for the best. With the only other medic slowly dying, she didn't need more complications with the patients. Her biggest worry for Ray would be that the transportation back to Newnan would cause something to rupture, something to burst...The man wasn't in the best shape.

But there was perhaps a bigger fear, Chloe realized, as the hoardebuster reached Newnan. As Ash spoke into the radio, a horrifying thought occurred to Chloe. There were tell-tale signs of drug abuse. She was lucky that the Viking medic was too distracted to notice, Chloe figured...would she be that lucky again? If they had a full medical team, would she be able to hide her past?

Beatrice Decker

Location: LaGrange Street, headed south -> Building 2, Mess Hall

While Beatrice wasn't one of the most emotionally expressive people, she couldn't help but be fond of James. His easygoing attitude was a bit charming, and as he walked with his sidearm on the opposite side of his body, she noticed he must have had some common sense. The fact that he kept her at arm's length only served to comfort Beatrice. Only idiots would have allowed her to roam the grounds as she pleased.

As to the accident...her eyes flickered up towards the smoke she'd seen in the sky...she felt some sympathy for them. Her group had been destroyed by accidents, though some of them had been intentional. As her eyes fell on the bloody sheet in the road ahead of them, she raised a slight eyebrow. Sanitation codes weren't really forced anymore, though, she reminded herself. It was a bit hard to enforce laws without any order or government.

"Yeah, I do have a question, actually," Beatrice replied, though her stomach grumbled in betrayal. It had been a bit since she'd had some decent food beyond trail mix, and she'd already fished out all of the M&M's ages ago, the only decent part. "What happened here?" They had an established farm system, a person in charge of recruitment--the more Beatrice learned about Newnan, the less things added up.

She started to doubt it really was an accident that happened. But as James held up a finger, and crackling voices came over his radio, Beatrice didn't have a chance to ask. The reference to full teams...Again, more and more evidence that this settlement should've been prepared for that disaster, and perhaps averted it. Her eyes turned to the armed guard, an expressionless symbol of power and authority.

"Don't worry about it," Beatrice replied simply. "I'll be here." And observing. If she was going to ask to stay in this place, it needed to be safe and/or trustworthy. Preferably both. Hopefully both.
