Dorothy Pender

Location: the Galley ---> Outside Gene's Quarters ---> the Bridge

Dorothy may have abandoned her sister years ago, leaving her behind on Boros with their drunkard of a father, but that didn't mean she didn't care fiercely for Daphne. As Harper questioned Daphne's skills and level of dedication, it took all of her strength not to reply curtly you're correct, Harper. You do underestimate her. But pride in her sister wasn't appropriate in this moment. Her military training had taught her that. But thankfully, the Captain came to her sister's defense as well, and Dorothy smiled as she nodded in agreement.

"Daphne's full of surprises," Dorothy agreed, not adding much else more. They didn't need to have yet another tense situation on their hands. And it was true--her sister could be a bit impulsive and moody at times, but she was so young, Dorothy felt it would've been more concerning if Daphne wasn't the way she was. She'd grow out of it eventually, but even if she didn't, Dorothy would love the kid nonetheless.

Nodding at the Captain's orders, Dorothy hoped that Harper would recognize Anisa's growing irritation. They didn't need a repeat of what happened with Gene on their hands. "I'll check in on her," Dorothy nodded, rolling her eyes as Jahosafat bolted for the door, covering his mouth. She couldn't even bring herself to pity the man, and knew that there was a good chance she'd be treating him for alcohol poisoning later that day.

Taking a few crackers and some of the preserves, Dorothy made herself a small little thing to eat, a bit curious as to what Harper wanted to talk to Anisa so desperately about. The man was definitely...different than the rest of the Alliance members, though all of the ones on this ship seemed to be eccentrics, to say the very least. Once she had her fill, she fixed up some for Gene and Daphne.

"I'll be with my mei-mei if you need me, Cap," Dorothy said, nodding farewell at Harper and Anisa, as she left the Galley the way she came. She retraced her steps and knocked twice on Genevieve's door. "Gene, food's here," Dorothy announced. She set down the food that she'd fixed up for Gene, so that way she could grab it whenever she was ready, before finally making her way to the bridge.

"Mei-mei, you hungry?" Dorothy asked, as a way of announcing her presence.
Getting a post up now, sorry for the delay!
@Pundii@Nallore@FantasyChic@Witch Cat@rivaan:

Welcome, welcome, welcome to Chapter Two!!!! The lovely @Witch Cat figured out the identity of the murderer, the demon Mephistopheles, a few days back. A huge congratulations to them for that. We are now going into phase two of the RP--one of many phases to come, don't worry--which means we have some housekeeping business to take care of. This business is due by the time this post (this one here) reaches day 8.

1. Relations and clue sheets need to be updated for chapter 2. An updated version of the base code is in the OOC. If your characters have had interactions, add relations! If not, that's okay. What matters most is that the clues are updated.

2. You have all earned bonus skills/rewards. For successfully solving the first chapter, @Witch Cat gets a bonus reward. The skill below will indicate if it should be edited into general world skills or combat skills. These are based off of your gameplay in the first part.

Andromeda Aldrich - Stress Management - General World Skill
Seraphina Adams - Deduction - General World Skill
Eudora Erebus - Gypsy Lore - General World Skill
Emmie Adams - Defense Against Witchcraft - Combat Skill
Liam Matthews - Alcohol Tolerance - General World Skill
Aloise Zamora - Investigation - General World Skill
Lilith St. Sebastian - Seances - General World Skill

The bonus reward for @Witch Cat is.... another skill, as determined by LLA. Other options included a clue and a get out of death free card, folks. The bonus skill is designed to help with the coming chapter.

Eudora Erebus - Specialized Necromantic Knowledge: Curses - General World Skill

MYCROFT: Oh Sherlock, what do we say about coincidence?
SHERLOCK: The universe is rarely so lazy.

Today, my dears, I would love to tell you a story--but it is a story that you already know. Forget, for a moment, the little Valeska girl running down the streets in another world. Do not fret about Andromeda and her death that almost happened. And please, worry not about the wardrobe, and its peculiar powers! Reflect back, back to just a few months prior--rejoin me in June of the 2016th year, but do take care to leave October and Carolina behind in May. It is not time for their stories to intertwine just quite yet.

No, my children, remember the death of a funny little boy. He was a witch and a tutor, and for the most part, he kept to himself. He sentenced that pretty waitress, Sutton, to death. And with it, Liam's chances of true happiness. Oh, what a lovely little couple they could have been...but it does not help to dwell too much on that. What was the boy's name again? Ah yes. Daniyal.

All names are important in this, my loves. Altsoba? It means constant war, constant conflict, constant loss. And it was the location of the apocalypse. Coventry? Why, a British tale of betrayal and loss--sounds familiar, no? But Daniyal, it means God is my judge. And ever so fitting, the witch boy is burning in hell, eternally damned for the worst of crimes--for inadvertently causing the apocalypse.

Now Daniyal was murdered, if you do recall, by the demon Mephistopheles. Funny, Marlowe wrote about a demon of that name before in his play. That demon is the very M who has begun the murders, who has started to terrorize this town. O.M.E.N. may pretend that its leaders have not fallen, but they are well and truly dead. Perhaps it was revenge for slaying Lucifer...But why here, why in Coventry?

Why does Jade Cornish still breathe, the person who drove the blade through the devil, and Fiodora and Sal, complete innocents, have perished instead? There is more to this mystery, dears, than simply knowing the identity of your would-be killer...

Good luck. You're in desperate need of it.

December 28th, 2016 - Coventry Horrors, Fifth Floor

Once they reach the fifth floor, Andromeda opens the door, letting Emmie follow her inside. Several of the rooms have had the walls removed, turning the middle of the floor into an expansive family space, along with a kitchen. To the left, there is the bathroom, a laundry area, and a room marked as Andy's. To the right, there is the master bedroom, as well as a spare room. For the most part, the décor matches the rest of the hotel--if not even more extreme.

"Not just yet--give me a moment," Andromeda explained, as she headed for the large bookshelves in the family space. Her finger drifted among the titles, until she pulled out an extremely thin copy of Dr. Faustus, a play by Marlowe. "His name is Mephistopheles," Andromeda said, handing the copy of the play over to Emmie. "I don't know why or how, but he killed my father..."

But before Andromeda can explain much more, the door to the guest room opens, and a tall, weary looking man emerges. He looks like he has been on the run for months, hardly getting a wink of shuteye. Andromeda smiles softly at him as he shuffles over, in desperate need of coffee.

"Emmie, this is my brother--Detective Walter Hanson."

Keenan may as well have been British, as he keeps a stiff upper lip, even as Sera sends him a bit of a nasty glare. Her developing lack of trust in him doesn't seem to bother the agent all too much, and either Aloise wasn't bothered as well, or she didn't notice the oddity behind it. The situation wasn't quite clear. "Altsoba survivahs aren't easy to find," Keenan explained. "Was a bit suhprised to find you lot here in one place."

Aloise nodded in agreement. As far as she could remember, the only other survivors out there who could help would be Hanson and Jade, both of whom had gone radio silent after the apocalypse. And of course, there were the Crypts. But that family could easily do more harm than good. "Andromeda could be helpful," Aloise agreed. "It's a historic hotel, after all--maybe she knows something about this wardrobe."

December 28th, 2016 - Cirque Anomaly

As Lilith searches through Folly's small tent, her room so to speak, there are some objects that stick out. On a heap of blankets and rug in the middle, boxes of various teas--some common and some exotic--splay about. There are some mugs as well, more of them chipped than fully in tact. Books cover the ground as well, all of them likely stolen from libraries or from bookstores. The circus paid for room and board--it didn't always cover much else.

A few minutes after Lilith enters the tent, she'll hear the flap brush open, and someone let out a sigh. "She's such a disappointment, you know. Always so...boring," Boris chuckled, pulling his curly green hair back. He picked up a notebook from the ground, flipping through his daughter's writing as he hummed cheerily to himself. Tossing it aside, he laughed a bit at Lilith, having guessed at her efforts. "You wanna be my friend?" he asked, cackling even more to himself.

December 28th, 1929 - Coventry Horrors, Attic

A well dressed man climbs up into the attic, taken visibly aback when he spots Eudora and Liam. Clearly, they weren't exactly who he was expecting, and he wipes his forehead a bit, knocking his goggles off. The man would've fit in well at a steampunk convention, and he smiles awkwardly at Eudora and Liam, coming to his feet. "So...are you friends of Amiyra's?" he asks, extending a hand naively. "My name's John Fairfax."
@Nallore You'll find out soon enough :P
*has a delicious twist about to be revealed...*
Loved the Thanash collab :D

Maeve laughed politely and earnestly, enjoying the mental image of the parson fuddling about from the day of his birth onwards. Perhaps he had never really learned how to walk, Maeve mused--but who could blame him? He was a Protestant, after all, and heaven knows they know nearly nothing about anything of real importance.

"Seems a miracle yer man 'asn't gone and lost a leg like this," Maeve chuckled, noticing that the parson had finally gotten his feet under control. He'd be rotten in a boat, she surmised, trying to hold back laughter as she imagined him trying to get his sea legs, when he could hardly walk on land.

Maeve smiled pleasantly at the prospect of a meal for the evening. The conditions on the boat had been...Well, a meal and a strong drink would be incredibly welcome. It might have been cliché and expected for an Irish woman, but she loved a good whiskey. She tried to keep herself from joining in with Nigel at laughing at Calum. It would be improper, of course, for her to share a room with the parson, and while she did not enjoy the idea either, the embarrassment on his face was most amusing.

For a moment, Maeve pondered as to whether or not Nigel was actively attempting to find a bride for the parson. First asking if he had tied the knot, now sticking them in a shared room, potentially? Yet she could not long entertain the notion of marrying such a righteous and godly man, a protestant nonetheless, without feeling disgust.

"You'll be playin' Joseph withoyt a Mary, Parson," Maeve quipped. It hardly seemed safe to her, to sleep out in the barn--but the parson could do with himself what he would. She hardly cared, as long as she was rewarded handsomely for her future efforts.
@Pundii: Day 5, nearing Day 6
Thanks Mom! :)

@Rivaan: Yeah, Virginia has some physical attack methods, but having her paired with someone who can keep her safe if she has to go into a trance would be a good. Send me a PM and we can chat?
