Romance is an overused plot device and I refuse to use it as any more than a background factor, and even then I usually just delegate it to side characters that have no significance.

Well, it's overused as fuck, more often than not puts two mostly incompatible characters together for the sake of teh feels and even when we get those precious few platonic relationships, the shippers take it away :/

Romance in and of itself is not a plot. Of course it's nice to see in the sidelines, it's a part of life; but used as a main plot? And people wonder why I change the channel ASAP at romantic comedies.
