Gamble

Boston - 21st, January 2011
@Sickle-cell

Gamble had been relaxing on a park bench, watching the pedestrians walking and ignoring everyday opportunities. It was... Interesting. If he had to guess, and he was a gambling man after all, the majority of these people preferred to ignore the chaos around them whenever possible. They were scared like rabbits facing a wolf, and he couldn't really blame them.

His musings were interrupted by his phone vibrating. With a frown he answered, not even looking at the number.

"Gamble? You have been requested to attend the Circus tonight by Praetor as an independent entry. He’s going to be watching closely to gauge your abilities to figure out where you slot into team dynamics for future missions in the city. Will you be requiring transport, or can you organise your own?”

"Understood. Sounds like real good fun. I'll get there on my own, though. Can't imagine I'm far away as is anyways," he replied easily, hanging up the phone before a reply could be made.

"Wonder what the odds of me winning the whole thing are?"
0.000000000000000001%

He grinned to himself. Those were his kind of odds.

Later that day...

Gamble looked up at the building. Brought back memories he didn't care to remember, of a time before he was Gamble. Of thugs and losses. He shook his head, frowning, as he stepped into the edge of the lot.

...
"Well, those really ain't good odds now, are they?" He muttered to himself as his power faded into Oblivion. He scratched his head, walking towards the entrance and the betting both.

"Hey there, compadre," he said brightly to the attendant. "I'm here to enter. Name's Gamble. Independent entry. Just one question... This nullification field thingy stay active during the fights? Cause if not, I'd like to place a couple wagers."

Involved by being near:
Shit, basically everyone at this point.

Alice clicked her tongue at the two.
"Keep ignoring your bestie and you won't be getting any coffee," she said, her tone making it obvious she was joking. She'd already started on the girl's coffee.

"So what's the haps, flower power?"

The combination of attacks was proving more than enough to outmaneuver the deranged Chimera. The thorns caught perfectly, slowly down the rushing beast, blood now coating its entire body.

And then came Mei's dropkick, crashing into the Chimera's head with a sickening crack. The body slumped on the thorns, slowly, before becoming dead weight. The Kagune dissolved, leaving behind what seemed to be a kid younger than Kristian.

A check would find what could've been a pulse, but it was not definite. The odds said that the Chimera would die within ten minutes, between the blood loss and injuries.

Verily, luv. Hash out something and we'll let you know if it don't work why it don't work.

Good seeing you around.
@Sickle-cell
Awesome.

And, uh, yeah, she could die fast. Hard to say. XD
@Sickle-cell
Y'know, actually, if you want to take the extra load of dropping Gamble in, let me know. Just trying to figure out what I need to do with him atm.
@Mercenary Lord
Busy. XD

Got a lot going on, but I like to keep this RP rolling so I like to check in with peeps from time to time.

Finally, they were outside.
Finally, they had a mission.
Finally Rend could do something besides sit in his ass and poke fun at Kyoshi.

He waited for Gabriel to leave, watching him with little interest. Once he had left fully, they had set out.

It was a bit of a walk, across town really, but Rend didn't consider it all that far. The target destination was on a street full of old shops, mostly boarded up and rundown, clean but a bit out of the times. The antique shop they were meant to help was across the street from their current location, on the corner of an intersection.

It was very obviously a mom and pop store. Probably been around for generations, handed down and kept running.

Honestly, Rend couldn't imagine how it was still running in this day and age. Let alone in a neighborhood like this. Busted roads, run down buildings. And while the store looked clean, it definitely needed some work done.

Looking down the street he noticed what appeared to be hookers smoking, and he narrowed his eyes.

"Yeah...I can see why they're having problems," he muttered as he crossed the street, taking the lead. He stopped at the door, looking back at his teammates.

"Do we enter or...?"
@ProPro
My first thought is Patriarch, but I'm actually leaning towards Retcon after the mention in Skype.

Because I'm a torturous asshole who will laugh at how that goes. XD

Make that Gamble.
So, how's everyone doing? I'd like to see some reactions to the latest update so we can move forward.
@Blu
We actually discussed my post and I already knew he wasn't coming on time. I've got plans for if he don't show to his appointment.
