As Mari cheers up, Minkyu lets himself relax, and even feel a little bit proud. He cheered her up, right? He did something good for once! Wait until Amelia hears about this! Speaking of which, won't it be hard to convince her to hire Mari, even if he pesters her about it? She's always so uncompromising when it comes to work, that girl has really high standards... but Mari's doing her best! He can just tell!

...Minkyu is very excited right now. If he had real cat ears, they would be perked up attentively. Since he doesn't have them, however, he ends up just smiling and nodding. Mari's good mood is certainly infectious, and Minkyu decides he feels very optimistic about the whole thing. Amelia won't turn her down, right? There must be a favor he can cash in...

And then she starts crying. Minkyu's smile slides off his face, replaced by a worried frown as he panics. Searching for a handkerchief and finding none, he compensates with a tissue and offers it to Mari with a shaking hand. He's horrible with crying girls, so Minkyu thinks it best to end the interview here before anything else embarrassing can happen. Besides, it's getting late. He needs to get back to work. Yeah. (That's a good excuse.)

"Thank you for coming by," he says, putting his notebook away. "Amelia and I will, um, contact you shortly. Please stop crying." he adds quietly. "I'm going to go back to working now." Standing up from his place at the table and re-entering the main room, Minkyu immediately goes to his happy place: behind the counter. Specifically, hiding behind it and pretending he totally just didn't make a girl cry. As he does so, a thought occurs to him. "Uhm, Megan," he mumbles, to get the attention of the hardworking pastry chef beside him. "Is the cat still outside? It's getting late, you should probably bring it home with you and also give it a name..."
yayyy, finally posted! @DestinyStar minkyu's gonna see her off and then we can timeskip, that work for everybody?

"'Scuse me, coming through!"

After ensuring that Dae-hyun wasn't going to lose his way in the back room and knew how to clear tables, Amelia is satisfied and returns to serving customers. Work today is exhausting, but no worries! They've had worse before! Like that one time Minkyu had to dress up and talk to customers because of the rush... It was good for him, but afterwards he got so upset he avoided Amelia for days.

My brother is a sensitive soul, Amelia decides, swiftly descending upon tables to clear them of dishes. Hopefully I haven't pushed him too hard with that interview... nah, that girl's worse than he is. They'll be fine. Actually, would that be a cute couple or what? Amelia considers it for a moment... then shakes her head, rids herself of any ideas concerning Minkyu's love life, and goes back to work. Poking her head into the kitchen (or, as she calls it, "March's Kingdom"), she notes that while a little strange, Dae-hyun is easygoing and gets along with everyone. He'll do well in customer service! (She's a genius.)

"Dae-hyun, let's not distract the cook, shall we?" she teases, more cheekily than anything, smiling wide to get her point across. "Just kidding, just kidding. March, don't make a mess of your uniform, okay?" Once again satisfied with her checkup of the kitchen and March's workload (not horrible, but a dishwasher would be useful), she waltzes out of the kitchen, plates in hand. Sharp eyes catch sight of Jet having some trouble with a particularly touchy customer, and so she expertly wedges herself in between the two to save Jet some trouble.

"Ma'am, let's not cause any trouble for the wait staff," she says cheerfully, but banking on the fact that her endless smiles sometimes get scary. Pointing to a notice on the wall, Amelia not-so-gently stares the patron down. "Touching the servers is strictly forbidden. Jet, why don't you take that man's order?" How to de-escalate a conflict: separate the problems and deal with them one by one.

Minkyu once called her a "force of nature", and as far as Amelia's concerned, he's right. Handling interpersonal relationships is difficult, but Amelia was basically born for this. This is the perfect job for her... Minkyu, not so much, but he's taken in all in stride.

(But he's still her baby brother. Always.)

Dorm Hall, Saturday, 6:00 PM
Interacting with @Kyrisse

Within a few minutes, the party is in full swing, and Hangyeol, while lurking, hears a knock at the door. Everyone who's meant to be at the party is already here, but he opens the door anyway. He knows the party's full already, but there are plenty of other possible explanations. And he doesn't want to be rude.

In the gaping hole in the wall that is the doorway there stands a short, beautiful girl. She smiles at Hangyeol with a smile like a split bag of worms.

"Is Abby here?"

Hangyeol quickly runs through the short list of the dorm floor's current inhabitants before shaking his head. "No, I'm afraid not. You could probably look upstairs, though," he suggests, smiling kindly. (And pushing away the cold feeling that settles in his chest. That's not her fault, it's his. Probably.)

"Is Abby here?" she asks again.

"...No, she isn't," Hangyeol replies, slowly and confusedly. "Shall I ask the Floor Manager for you?"

"No need. I'll see you later," she says before winking and walking away.

"...Uh, okay?" Hangyeol stands in front of the open door for a moment, figuratively scratching his head in a game of "do I know her?" before giving up. Bizarre, but he's relived he didn't have to get caught up in anything. For moment there, he thought... No, no. Not everybody is out to get you, you know.

With a shrug, he closes the door and goes to rejoin the party. Lost in thought, it is then that he bumps into Sasha, causing her to spill some of her drink. Hangyeol turns around (perhaps a bit too suddenly; can you blame him for being tense?), intending to apologize quickly and efficiently before inquiring of the Floor Manager, Lilly, about an "Abby". Unless she's busy and/or surrounded by other people; then he'll just... forget about it. Right. Good plan.

"No, sorry about that," he says, checking over himself and the floor in case anything dropped, hand outstretched to steady the plate before it tips and a mess is made. "Wasn't paying attention. It's just your shirt, right? Should I grab a napkin or two?" Honestly, it's both of their faults, or maybe even the party's fault for being too crowded, but there's no harm in apologizing and Hangyeol feels a bit responsible. Orange soda, huh? That'll leave a stain... Maybe he has something to treat that with?
thinking about making a younger character.... in any case i'm here!
@Squirrel98@NiceSpice y'all still good? I know we lost a member but I still hope to continue!

Dorm Hall, Saturday, 6:00 PM

Hangyeol is not the biggest fan of parties.

Perhaps it's because of the things involved: beer, something Hangyeol does not and will not touch on account of past reckless experiences; drugs, another thing he would much rather avoid; and people, who, unlike books and knitting, are unpredictable in the worst ways. Hangyeol's most common experiences include bar fights, arguments, over-friendliness, and occasionally flirting. Perhaps he's just stuffy, but given the choice he'll pass, thanks.

However, in this setting Hangyeol's not certain there is a choice. The entire dorm has pitched in to contribute the food, drinks, and illegal substances that are the hallmarks of a "good" party, and while Hangyeol is 90% sure he's not touching any of it, introductions are in order. He may be an antisocial roommate, but he'd like to at least be a polite one.

Which brings us to the present: the party.

To his credit, he picked up some chips at a local convenience store and took the long way back; Alaska is freezing, but the stars are so beautiful Hangyeol is staying out for as long as humanly possible. And because he knows the volume of the party is probably something ridiculously ear-splitting, and that once he steps inside he'll likely get no reprieve until the end of the night. Hangyeol does not look forward to that 4 AM headache.

He checks his watch. Well, no time like the present. Hangyeol tugs open the door and steps inside.

The party, while small, has several attractions present in the form of spiked drinks, spiked snacks, and a general vibe of "Saturday night fun" that pumps in through the speakers and fills the dorm, hallways and all. Hangyeol takes a moment to adjust to the bass-heavy music and collect his bearings before dumping his bags of chips on a random table. That should do for now; he's fairly sure nobody cares about where the food should go as long as they get to eat it.

Stopping by his dorm room to throw his coat on the floor, he takes a very quick look in the mirror and shrugs. It'll have to do. He's not picky about his appearance by any means; as long as there's nothing on his face, he's satisfied.

Passing by several people, but declining to strike up a conversation with them, Hangyeol begins to wander the premises, avoiding the crowded places but not dodging the party entirely. People, while hard to deal with, aren't his worst nightmare by any means, and the general atmosphere can be almost exciting at times. He just prefers to stay on the sidelines, to keep his wits about him. Just in case something bad happens.

Just in case.
@Amaralyn aww. I'm really sorry to hear that, it was really fun roleplaying with you too! hopefully things will start looking up for you soon :)
