I am liking this. But the guards would most likely have something that protects them from powers. I do like this idea, but with a power like that, your character would be under constant surveillance and power watch, makong it harder to initiate a form of breakout of revolution.

At some point. A majority of the role play will take place within the Asylum, but staging an escape and possibly making it could be interesting.

Umbrakinesis is the control of shadows, like how pyrokinesis controls fire and hydrokinesis is the control of water.
I suppose you cold do that, but there will be punishments for doing things like that to the guards, ranging from power nullifying shackles to solitary. If you think you can make it work, go for it, just don't overdo it.
