Awww. Saw this too late to try. I'll be reading though!
❄Erika Olson❄

"Oh my." Erika couldn't help but express shock as her next opponent came out with a hot pan and still cooking something! Erika shot a glance to Sno on her right who hovered over her shoulder with a bit of an interested expression. She looked back and both shrugged. "Well, be careful. I'm sure it'll be yummy at least!" Erika offered to her opponent as the rules of the match were decided.

King of the Hill.

"Hmm..." Erika pondered as she raised a finger to tap thoughtfully on her chin. Two minutes wasn't a lot of time so speed had to be essential. Then again, she needed an anchor who could hold it down. Erika shot a glance to Sno, knowing her speed was quite impressive. She also had a good anchor in Eep.... but who would she go with for her third member?

"Aha! Alright, I'm ready!" Erika drew two Pokeballs from her belt and threw them out summoning...

"Lileep!" "Kaaay!"

Eep and Kay would work nicely with Sno. "Alright team, here is the plan. Sno, race up there and hit them with Icy Wind, the coldest and harshest wind you can muster and keep them struggling to climb. You should get there first, I bet. Give time for Kay and Eep to catch up. Once they do, confuse ray the opposing team and then return to Icy Wind. Eep, you are going up there to Ingrain yourself at the very top. Really dig those roots in. Once your set, Acid all around and make it very slick. Kay and Sno will be floating so anything needed to walk up will have trouble. Kay, Reflect for the team and help protect. Hypnosis the opposing team once Reflect is up. Alright? Let's go!"

It was a tense battle. Erika had done fairly well but the inverse had thrown her off there with Eep being called out when basic normal moves would be super effective against his rock typing. Also, wow, did that feel close. Gibs going down in the first round was certainly nerve-racking. A dragon-type might not have been the best considering the all-around resistances. What would have worked well here, Erika thought. Normal types were safe and maybe poison or bug?

She shivered. The thought of having a bug-type on her team freaked her out. All those spindly parts crawling all over. That was maybe the one type she wouldn't end up catching, but if she were truly going to set out to be competitive, she'd need to get over that. Her mother had told her all Pokemon could be ultra-competitive with the right training and it paid to have a strong, diverse team. But those legs!

"...the rewards will be greater~!"

"Oh!" Erika sounded in a startle as she realized she was still on stage and being asked a question. She hastily waved at Colin. "Nice battle! Good luck!" She hollered to him as she turned to address their host. "Yes, I can go on. I'm learning a lot, really." Erika nodded.

With their departure set from her new friends, Erika was sure she'd see them again and be in contact. She did give Maple her address so she could find her mother but it wasn't a secret in Cooldome. Her mother advertised herself as a place for trainers to rest. It was kind of like an inn but she'd usually invite trainers to dinner to share stories and offer battling advice if they were interested. Of course, she'd help them with preparations for climbing to the summit. On the rare occasion, she'd be tasked with finding an ill-prepared trainer on the climb. She knew the mountain better than anyone at this point, it seemed.

Back to PokéMania, Erika nodded but she found her stomach turning at the thought of publicly battling against her opponents. She supposed this probably came with the whole grand champion goal as everyone watched the tournament in Isson. She turned and looked at Sno who was watching a colorful display of their host but in neon lights. Erika followed her ghostly gaze and saw a team of Rotoms jumping between the neon lights, sending each one to light up more.

"Well Sno, ready to try this out?" Erika asked, tugging playfully at one of Sno's arms. She shivered, feeling the cold that being both of Ice and a ghost caused. Sno turned and nodded, "Fros!"

Erika moved on to filling her in description and sign-up.
Erika Olson, trainer from Cooldome who is aspiring to be champion one day. Stopping here to learn how to think outside the box better!

With that, Erika waited until she was called out.

Erika nodded as Sno floated in behind her. "Hi, Colin. Erika. You do look pretty cool." She offered before the battle. Away they went. Inverse and Snagem.

That was a bit tricky on first glance but Erika took a moment to consider who might welcome this challenge first in her team. "Alright Gibs, you're up to lead us off!"

She tossed out a Pokeball and Gibs appeared snapping his jaw excitedly.

Starting out against Lombre Erika used Sandstorm and then Dragon Rage. She then used Sand-Attack only and waited until the sandstorm buffeted Lombre down to a weakened state before trying to snag him.

Against Beautifly, Kay was sent out. Swagger before Topsy-Turvy. Psywave twice. Attempt catch.

Against Sneasel. Eep was sent out. Ingrain. Acid until low enough health then try and capture.
@Pacifista

I caught that after I had posted and happened upon the mention in your CS. Honestly the whole commercial idea was that some company was touting "being a hero" and if Roxxon is going the whole "we sponsor the Titans" then that makes that all the better. Like they've been scheming for something like this.

So yes. New York is well covered so who knows where the winds blow!
Issue: 1-1 Humble Beginnings

Saturday. Finally.

It was the one day Cindy Moon did not have to slave away in front of her textbooks, at least the one day of the week her mother did not hound her over studying. Although Cindy did make a habit of presenting study on Saturdays even if she was just doodling in her notebook for an hour. Shutting her laptop, she hurried and got dressed, an oversized tee, tucked into her skirt with her trainers. She had no intentions of wasting today inside.

Cindy emerged from her room to the compact living room. Her parents didn't quite grasp the concept of apartment living as they brought all their stuff from Albany. Her family was well off, they could have probably afforded a townhome somewhere in the city, but her parents chose not to. As they put it, they wanted to reconnect with their heritage, but they were both natural born citizens. They didn't even really speak Korean anymore.

Whatever.

It wasn't like Cindy was going to complain aside from having to narrowly slip around the back of the couch to pass through. "Going out, Cin?" Her father turned away from the television to watch her leap Junior's bag. "Yeah, dad. I'm meeting Mina and we'll probably go to the park or something. I dunno." Cindy replied as she began shuffling behind the couch. Her focus shifted to what her father was watching.

"...you're seeing a rise in crime over the past month. The city of New York has to step up. I mean, get this Wallace, we're having stories leak of vigilantism cropping up all over and-"
"You'll be back before dark, Cindy."

Cindy turned to see her mother standing in the dining room, her eyes shifting from the television to her.

"I-" Cindy bit her tongue. She knew that this was a command, not a request. Unfortunately, she had a lot more to lose than her mother to fight her on it. A grounding would be awful. "Fine. I'll be back by dinner, I guess. I wanted to try this new place, but whatever, right." She winced realizing that she was taking an attitude, not a great move when facing her mother.

"Yes. I'll be back." Cindy raised her hand to quell any of her mother's wrath. Her plans today were setback by this. She might have to cut her day with Mina short if she was going to get some practice in. Just how much could she do with her newfound powers? She knew about the wall climbing and the spider silk from her fingers. There was also that strange acute sense to things, but what was that even? This was the first day she had to let loose.

"You better." Her mother said sternly before turning back into the kitchen.

Whew. Close call.

Cindy turned and raised her eyebrows, giving him a look. He merely shrugged with a smile. He knew what he signed up for when he married her. "Have fun, Cin." Albert Sr. turned back towards the television. Cindy did as well.

"..hero in your own story. Let's do our part to fight climate change. Together. Roxxon Energy, fighting for tomorrow."

Cindy rolled her eyes at the ad at another oil company trying to advertise their good will. Funny how quick companies are to try and play the hero after they cause a disaster.

Not wanting to waste any more time, she darted out the door.

Wow, I like this banner implementation with the POV character of the post.

Yes, good.

Can't stop that criminal because that's Daredevil's turf. Not my neighborhood, not my problem.

Chinatown, dibs.

"Remember that spider that ate a genetically modified silkworm that went on to bite Peter Parker? Yeah, I got bit by the same one. It is the same but different, I swear..."
So cleared with Hound55, but I will play Cindy Moon without the weird bunker and later, pheromone thing. She'll be starting in roughly the same place as Peter but there will be differences and that will be the fun part of the challenge. How can I make her story different? To start with, Cindy has a stable upbringing. She lives with her biological parents, Albert and Nari Moon. She has a younger brother, Albert Jr. The goal is that she lacks the initial push that Peter has to be selfless because she has more to lose.

And in true Spider-Man trauma fashion, she will lose.

There will be a catalyst to make her realize that she could have prevented a tragedy. That, indeed, with great power comes great responsibility is worth living by. Peter should be happy, he won't have to go long looking after New York City all alone!

S A M P L E P O S T:

Cindy threw her head down. The dull thud of her forehead's impact was louder than she had intended, but her opened AP Chemistry book was not one to offer much cushion. "Ow." She muttered with a monotone sarcasm. Her head was in pain but not from smashing her forehead into her book, but the four hours of consecutive study she's been on. Maybe she had another hour, but she could feel her mind rotting away where practice problems seem to take five minutes for the first attempt, ten minutes to figure out what she did wrong. At this rate her hour would be stretched out to two or three.

She needed a break.

Scrapping her head off of her book, she leaned back into her chair and tossed her pencil aside. She didn't care where it went, only that it vanished from her sight. Turning to glance at the clock above her desk, it was a quarter past ten. Her parents were probably asleep or just about to drift off. Her mother had been relentless following her recovery from last week's illness. A bite to the ankle as she watched them take Peter Parker away on stretcher. The rest of the class left immediately after, but Cindy hardly remembered a thing, drifting in and out of a feverish sleep. She went home sick as soon as she could but that evening, she was fine. Well mostly fine because in her mother's mind, missing school was a sickness all on its own. As if the half day she missed would result in precious knowledge lost.

Whatever.

Her mother would normally play sentry, trapping Cindy in her room until it became too late to do anything. Thankfully, this was New York City. She cocked a scheming grin as she slipped quietly up to her feet and checked her door. It was locked. Tiptoeing back over to the closet, she grabbed a pair of sicks and her trainers. She spared a glance over to the balled up silk she still had in there. She’d have to find a way to get rid of that at some point before her mother found it. Doubt, she’d take the explanation of ‘Oh, I just produce silk from my fingers ever since I got sick last week.’. She still wasn’t sure how she did it, only that if she messed with her fingers too much she’d produce silk. Another day’s problem, for sure, because she just wanted to breathe that Friday night air.

Cindy grew excited as she fitted into her shoes and grabbed whatever allowance she had, stuffing it into her pocket before heading to her window. She opened it letting the sounds of New York’s nightlife flood in, the smells both rank and savory of the chinatown restaurants out on the street.. All inviting her out.

Leaning out, she glanced down at the four story drop that separated her from the alley below. Cindy bit her lip and tried to muster up the courage again. This was still rather new, but to the eldest child of a strict household, this was a godsend.

Turning around, she climbed slowly out of her window, her shoes sliding and failing to grip the masoned brick, dropping to instead hang from her hands that gripped the windowsill. Before that bite, she couldn’t even do double digits worth of push-ups but now, she casually hung with one arm as the other reached down and planted its five fingers into the brick. Her other hand released and she hung there by the mere five fingers as she lowered her other hand.

Down she climbed, making quick work of the four story climb. Cindy pushed off the wall for the last ten feet and landed gently on her feet, turning to glance up at the brickface she just effortlessly scaled.

A face was in the window next to hers. Her brother. Albert hastened to open the window causing Cindy to sigh as she threw her head back. She knew what he was going to ask.

“Can I come with?” Albert hollered causing Cindy to duck her head and wave her hands.

“Shut up! Do you want to get me in trouble?” She hastened in response, trying to keep her volume loud enough to call back.

“Oh, sorry.” He lowered his voice and climbed out of their living room window onto the fire escape. He closed the window and turned back. “You said last time you’d let me come with you.” Albert bashfully muttered at a lower volume. He had caught her earlier this week, sneaking out. He wanted to tag along since, a small cost to him keeping her sneaking out a secret, but right now she didn’t want to babysit her younger brother. She wanted to be free from it all for just a few hours.

“Tomorrow, Junior. I’ll help you get down from the fire escape and we can go out.” She waved an arm, shooing him back inside. “Now go back inside and cover for me. I’ll get you mochi or something tonight. Okay?”

“Boba tea. Pick a flavor I like, not one you always get.” He seemed placated, smiling. He was only two years younger, but still, she wasn’t about to let him slow her down tonight.

“Fine, fine.” She didn’t want to waste time. She still had an hour of studying left tonight but she could enjoy a few hours wandering the city and spend whatever money she had. Hurrying out of the alley, she ran off to let her stomach carry her to her first stop… whatever smelled best!
