@Eklispe Pretty useful items, huh? XD ... Yupp, nicely posted. Hm, that does pose the question. Growlithe's a dog, those can usually swim. Can a fire-dog? ... Guess I'm gonna have to determine that. Hahahaha.
@Joshua Tamashii Alright. You did that. Let's see what we can have that result in. Nicely posted.
@Pink Madness Why, sure~ That's totally possible. Especially with your over-eager opponent. Haha.
@Pirouette Can I expect a post from you any time soon or do you have an excuse which relieves you from posting? Probably, but I'd like to know.
@Rune_Alchemist I was about to assume you'd follow her and go ahead and write the result of you following her into the next area... then I was like "No! Bad Skink! No assumptions!". Haha.
@Eklispe Just to note, I had their Pokémon picked out ahead of time, before anyone had even left Pureplain. That you with your Aron is at a disadvantage against both in this situation is... a complete coincidence. XD
@Pyromaniacwolf I will note, if you for some reason decided not to go or whatever due to what was being said about Pureplain or so, I'm fine if you want to partake in the Pureplain choice of things instead, we can say you overheard. Otherwise, knock yourself out on Route 2, that you've finally reached~
[@Pink_Madness] If you want to, you can end the battle here and get your rewards for winning, or you can keep fighting for either a loss or greater reward... heh. Yeah, that's how it works now. And of course, you can quick-fight if you want to.
@Joshua Tamashii If you want to explore during the night, you can just write that you do so. The rest can keep adventuring during the day, while you just say you're out at night. Make a little mark in the beginning of the post to say it's during night. Yeah. We can do that now, if we want to. Haha.
@Delta44 I don't count restaurants as important facilities, so feel free to invent one to eat at, if you want to. There aren't going to be any battle-restaurants in Pureplain City. XD
@Pikmin Eye And, well, you have the ability to quick-fight this. Allow me to just say...
[@All] I decided against having quick-fight option in the bottom, because it felt like I was encouraging it. It's just if the trainers want the minor battles to go faster. If you want to speed up a fight or so, tell me so at any time, and I'll see what I can do if the battle allows it. Otherwise, I'll just assume you all want it the slow way. Hahahaha.
So, after having successfully obtained herself a Ledyba, named him Ritz and then cradled him, she now chased after the woman with the fox. Delphox was walking ahead, gazing into the fire at the end of the stick as she was walking into the forest, but the woman stopped as she was called out to. She raised her eyebrows, as she turned to look at Claire. The woman wore… … …
Pokédex Entry #655 – Delphox, the Fox Pokémon. It uses the stick it carries as a wand. Using Psychic powers, Delphox manipulates fire and can fan the flames to over 5,400 degrees Fahrenheit. By gazing into the flame at the end of its wand, Delphox can see into the future.
‘… Hah.’ The woman smirked a bit, giving a little silly smile at Claire’s request. Delphox stopped, turning her gaze to look at the one who had stopped her trainer, the fox looking a bit annoyed. The trainer looked more amused, though. ‘I’m heading in there to save two children who will get into more trouble than they can handle. I’d rather not be late, so I’ll be walking at a rather brisk pace. I won’t have time to babysit you if you decide to stop somewhere. If you’re fine with that, feel free. You could probably handle the Middle Woods on your own, it’s more dangerous but not unfathomably so, but get lost in the Deep Woods…’ She gave a glance at Delphox. ‘Are we headed into the Deep Woods?’
‘Delph.’ Delphox nodded, absently gazing into the flame on the stick.
‘… If you follow us that far, then stick close to me.’ She said, turning to walk again. ‘I’m Laurinda, if you’re wondering what name to cry out when you find yourself in trouble.’ The woman said, getting Delphox moving again, as they started moving into the darker regions of the woods.
The man inspected Dawkin as the young trainer showed himself, staring at him.
‘N-not doing that! S-smoking is such a terrible habit, I would neve-!’ The girl started in response, trying to recover, her expression pained, before an air of realization came over her eyes as she saw Dawkin, and… ‘O-okay, fine, you caught me. Th-thanks for the advice…’ The two of them then watched as Dawkin passed by and into the cave. The insides was a rocky tunnel, lit yet only by the sunlight from outside, going deeper on an angle downwards. Dawkin hid himself, and almost had he not even entered before he realized a few Zubats clutching the cavern ceiling, unmoving. They weren’t moving, but they were there. He stayed and listened…
‘He definitely heard, didn’t he?’ The girl asked.
‘Yepp. Fortunately for us, he willingly walked right into his own death-trap.’ The man responded, with an amused tone.
‘After him.’ The girl commanded, her voice alert.
‘Growlithe.’ The sound of a Pokéball being thrown onto the ground and a bark was heard from the outside.
‘Ducklett!’ Another Pokéball hit the ground, and a quack which sounded like a Pokémon name sounded out.
Pokédex Entry #58 – Growlithe, the Puppy Pokémon. Known to be brave and loyal to it’s trainer, but will bark threateningly at anyone entering its territory. It has superb sense of smell and will never forget a smell once it has picked up on it. Through smell, it can sense the emotions of others.
Pokédex Entry #580 – Ducklett, the Water Bird Pokémon. These birds are far better swimmers than they are flyers, and make excellent divers. When attacked, it defends itself by splashing water at the offender. Their favorite food is peat moss, and they’ll be found chewing on it constantly.
(… Not that Dawkin necessarily would have taken their Pokédexes at this moment, kind of a bad situation, but if he did.)
‘You’re going into the Wet Caverns with a Fire Pokémon?’ The girl inquired with a mocking tone.
‘You’re going into a mountain with a bird?’ The man retorted, no response other than a glare coming before he spoke again. ‘Growlithe will track the scent while Ducklett takes over when the water starts.’ The man explained, calm.
‘Deal.’ The girl responded, and the two moved for the entrance with their Pokémon in front.
Well. Now there really really wasn’t many directions Dawkin could go, unless he changed his mind about facing them. Only one route left.
Wet Caverns
Above is an accurate representation of the average traveller trying to go through Wet Caverns, assuming the bats are Zubats
The Wet Caverns, known so for the sheer amount of water drenching the contents. It’s a large series of tunnels with no real large open rooms, dividing itself up into a fairly simple maze going from one side to the other. The water inside the tunnels thankfully lit up the contents due to some shining mineral in the liquid, giving rise to a mildly lit set of tunnels. Many people prefer not to travel through the Wet Caverns due to them being long and easy to get lost in, in addition to the large amounts of hostile Pokémon which might attack at any time. Yet, here you are…
Still. There are those who travel through it on a regular basis. Those who have learned the trick finds it a fairly easy shortcut between Lakewatch Town and Pureplain City. For enthusiasts there are always the options of delving deeper into the caverns, fishing or surfing to find out what kind of Pokémon might inhabit the depths and the shallow rivers that flow along the underground corridors. It is known to be fairly diverse when it comes to the Pokémon inhabiting it, giving trainers both water- and cave Pokémon to pick from when they want to catch something.
1. Confront. For whatever reason, you decide to turn around and face your opponents. 2. Delve Deeper. Attempt getting deeper inside the caverns. 2.1. Dry. At the split ahead, you take the rocky, dry tunnel with lots of cover. 2.2. Wet. At the split ahead, you wade through the flooded, soaked tunnel. 2.3. Deep. At the split ahead, you descend into the very dark, inclining tunnel. 3. Specify. You know the drill.
Can of course be combined with attempting to hide, causing a ruckus or anything else Dawkin wants to attempt.
And so, Lucian moved on. First, he needed to get through the extremely long sub-urbs of Pureplain City. But, sooner or later, the buildings started thinning out, the road became less well-maintained, until he could finally confirm that he had taken the first steps of his new journey.
Route 2
Route 2 is the wetter alternative to the fairly dry and straight-forward Route 1. Dragon Lake naturally flows south, causing many rivers through Route 2 which lead on into Infested Woods, giving the woods all the water it needs to grow. The road forward is a more primitive gravel road, which in order to get to the mountain housing the Wet Caverns on the other side requires one to cross a number of bridges, and it’s near tradition that there’s at least one trainer waiting in ambush for any other trainer who desires to cross. But, Route 2 sees traffic from nature-goers, fishermen and so as well as trainers, giving possibilities to slip by if desired.
One step to the left and one has ended up in the wetlands of Route 2, drenched by Dragon Lake’s insistence on breaking into the ground. Large flowers and many bushes arise from these lands, the nature is lush and green. Although one might wish to pack an extra pair of boots if one intends to traverse the reaches, there are undoubtedly many wild Pokémon awaiting in the grass around. Quite a few other trainers seem to have thought this, as there are quite a few in various stages of Pokémon searching or battling. With the combination of water and grass, one can assume the kind of Pokémon one might encounter. In the distance, by the lake itself, stands a number of fishermen’s huts, for those interested.
To the right, instead, stands the imposing Infested Woods, which scare people by its name and promises of how terrifying it might be to wander deep, or maybe that’s just scary-tales from those who are scared to death by bugs. Regardless, it stands there, drinking deep from the waters provided by the rivers. One merely needs to break off from the path and then one will sooner or later be in the woods. It is an alternative way to the Wet Caverns that avoids the trainer-bridges, but the choice of where to go obviously falls on the trainers themselves. For the most obvious Pokémon, there are Pidgeys flying about, every here and there one carries a captured Weedle from the tall grass, which tries to sting back…
1. Find Pokémon. Can be specified what kind of Pokémon is being searched for, and how you search. 2. Train Pokémon. With this command, we can jump ahead in time and skip posting about grinding. 3. Seek trainers. There should be some here and there. Note, some may challenge you, regardless. 4. Talk. There’s some other travelers around. Maybe seek answers to any burning questions you have. 5. Move along. Move along normally, letting any events that may come happen naturally. 6. Hurry along. Intentionally avoid confrontations and try to get safely to the next destination. 7. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 8. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 9. Area Specific: Fishermen Huts. See what the fishermen over there's got going. 10. Familiar Faces: Donna. Donna’s having a battle over there with a female Lass, Cherubi VS Pidgey fight.
Connected areas: Pureplain City. Close, can easily get there without complication. Infested Woods. Relatively close, can get there without complication. Wet Caverns. Requires crossing the remainder of Route 2.
So, Rosa and Pidgey starts Tackling one another, on behalf that Tackle literally is the only offensive move the two have at this level. For every impact, the faster Pidgey attempted to move around and hit from a more vulnerable angle, and used its higher attack to get a better hit. However, seeing how Rosa has slightly better defense, Rosa took less damage when the two’s movement actually impacted, in addition to a pretty lucky Critical Hit in the beginning of the fight, meant that the winds were taken out of Pidgey’s sails pretty fast. The two were somewhat equally matched, same level, but Rosa’s good hit made the match turn in Donna’s favor. Eventually, Pidgey fainted.
‘Noooo, Pidgey!’ Audrey sounded out, looking at Pidgey’s fainted form. Most of the wild Pidgeys were now departing, her bird seed having almost run out as it was being eaten throughout the fight. ‘I have more!’ Audrey proceeded to lift out three more Pokéballs, seemingly all containing Pidgeys. ‘You want to fight more!?’ Audrey grinned a bit excitedly as she suggested fighting more of her Pidgeys, if Donna wants to. Rosa’s currently at about half health.
‘Hm? Oh, Ghost-Pokémon…’ Kalmia looked up from Amelia and looked around a bit, as if she was going to see one here. ‘Well, that’s a little hard. Pureplain is pretty known for being, well, plain…’ She admitted the complication. She then eventually looked back at Amelia with a little hesitant smile. ‘I wouldn’t say there AREN’T any, Ghost-Pokémon in general can appear a little bit of anywhere, cities especially. Shuppets are drawn to feelings of vengeance and there’s got to be at least one such person in a city, Duskulls likes to bother children and many kids live in Pureplain, Gastleys naturally take residence in abandoned homes, Misdreavus likes to startle people in the night and there are lots of people to startle in cities…’
‘… But Pureplain City probably isn’t known for ghosts, no. Most places are a little too populated for the taste of Ghost-Pokémon. You can look around at night, if you want, but do note they will be rare. Yeah.’ Kalmia reports, giving a little smile. She then turned to Ren’s questions.
‘Good.’ She’d start with concerning the use of such tactics. ‘You had me slightly worried.’ Kalmia nodded to Ren before the next question. Oh, things to do in Pureplain?
‘Weeeeeeeeell. Unfortunately, this being Pureplain City, there isn’t all that much to do for young trainers. There’s my lab, of course. There’s a Pokémon Center and a PokéMart, at your disposal. What’s usually remarked about Pureplain is the Trainer’s School, set up here mainly because there are so many children’s families here. You can go there if you wish to practice in the park or just prove that you can beat all the youngsters. Tihi.’ Not all that different from right outside the city, really.
‘Other than that… Oooh, well. There’s the Super Contest building. It’s a prime attraction meant to draw people from the harbor to watch the performances of trainers and Pokémon who have proved themselves in the Normal Contest. If you’re interested in that, head for Redcoast City~ … And give me a call, because I’d want to watch!’ Kalmia smirked a bit wider as she mentioned. ‘And, of course, there’s the harbor. Pureplain City is the “Gateway to Isson”, so all the boats from other regions come by to stop here. Meaning, down there is the largest marketplace of foreign goods you’ll ever find and also a good place if you want to be ferried to another region. Buuuuuut… you’re not done with Isson just yet, right?’ Kalmia giggled a little.
‘And, yeah. There’s a Gym. Buuuuuut… Believe me when I say, you’re not even NEAR ready. Perhaps if you’re lucky you might be there when someone challenges the Leader, but for now, you’re not going to get much from there. Unless, I suppose, if you just want to talk. That works, assuming the Leader doesn’t wave you off.’ So Kalmia said, smiling as she presented the different possible options.
‘And of course, there are cafés and restaurants!’ Kalmia called on the last. ‘If you’d like my recommendation and Vivia’s constant lament, there’s a place just a bit down the road here, which…’ (We’ll assume there are cafés and such a little bit of everywhere, they’re not otherwise noted in “Notable Buildings”)
With that information out of the way, both Amelia and Ren could chose to do something in Pureplain City, or move on…
Description somewhat updated with new information trainers have learned!
Pureplain City is placed on the south-west brink of Isson, with the town facing the water and spreading quite far. The further in-town you go, the higher the buildings become, but the suburbs spread quite far. In terms of sheer landmass, it might even compete with Worldedge City, although maybe not in height. Life passes normally within this city. Children grow up alongside their parents in houses in the long, friendly streets. Jobs come from the depths of the town in the taller buildings. Schools grow from the reasonably high amount of children in need of tuition. And of course, there are lots of Pokémon.
In Pureplain City, human and Pokémon work together. Be it for manual labour or just for company, Pureplain houses often contain at least one house-hold Pokémon and there are many Trainer's Schools around the city have always been plentifully attended, not counting the recent drop of embarking trainers due to the Team Wars. In addition, Pureplain Harbor is known as the “Gateway of Isson”, as that’s where all the ferries from outside the region dock, giving life to quite the marketplace. A common attraction of the city is the Super Contest stage, but other than that, Pureplain remains what it has always been. Pure and plain.
1. Find Pokémon. Can still search for Pokémon in towns~ 2. Talk. In cities, there are considerably more people one can talk to. Specify what kind you’re looking for. 3. Exit. Exit the town to any of the connected areas. 4. Specify. If you specify what you want to do, the GM will take it into account and tell the result. 5. Trigger random event. Force the GM to use his imagination to make a scenario for you. 6. Notable Buildings. Visit any of the facilities of the city! 6.1. Pokémon Center. Heal all your Pokémon. 6.2. PokéMart. Go to a store and buy things. 6.3. Gym. ??? 6.4. Super Contests. Rank 2 / 4. Where hopefuls become idols! 6.5. Trainer’s School. Where young trainers study to become better. Has a little park of wild Pokémon. 6.6. Kalmia’s Lab. You know you’re always welcome. 6.7. Pureplain Harbor. Known as the Gateway of Isson, it has a marketplace and ferries to places. 7. Familiar Faces: Oaken & Rodger, Erika & Vivia, Jacques. First two haven’t left yet, second two are still in battle, Jacques is still here…
Connected areas: Route 1. Easier path, just follow the bigger road. Route 2. Walk through quite an amount of sub-urbs until you eventually reach the path. Sea. There’s water, alright. Can take you anywhere you want to go, assuming you have means to traverse it.
Upon his feet meeting the bottom of the drain, a few unattended young trainers turned and looked at Martin. The one closest to him, was a VERY young little boy, who gazed up at the older boy with very wide eyes.
He turned and ran, running up to a somewhat older young boy, eyes considerably wide still. Beside the somewhat older boy was an even younger little girl, as well.
‘My lord! My lord! A foreign trainer wishes to partake in the tourney!’ The younger one said in a high-pitched voice to the older one. The older one, a youngster still himself, looked at Martin with a focused stare, but there was something of a confidence in his look.
‘What nerve the young traveller has. To intrude upon our sacred tourney in my kingdom. Bet he wants the princess’s hand in marriage as well.’ The youngster said.
‘Iiiiiiiih!’ The tiny girl gave a shrill little cry, her eyes wide looking at Martin, though she looked kind of excited for some reason.
‘Do not fret, young princess. Your knight and your king will protect you, to the last!’ The youngster said, eager, putting a comforting hand on the little girl’s head. He then turned to the other young boy. ‘Then, Sir Donald! Strive forth, participate in the tourney, and protect your kingdom’s honor!’
‘Yes, my lord!’ The young boy said, before turning to Martin with an eager expression and ran forth, Pokéball in hand. Paying further attention, Martin can notice that the participants of the tournament are all playing some similar game, calling themselves titles and… Um, he now has a tiny knight heading his way.
Preschooler Knight Donald wants to fight!
‘Go! Rattata!’ Donald throws the Pokéball, and a small purple rat emerges from the flash of light.
‘RATTA!’
Pokédex Entry #19 – Rattata, the Mouse Pokémon. It has impressive vitality that allows it to live anywhere there is food. It scavenges for food all day and reproduces quickly. Very cautious, it’s ears listen for trouble even when asleep. It’s teeth never stop growing, it will gnaw on things to keep their size in check.
And yupp, Martin’s now facing an exceedingly low-level Rattata, glaring at him intently. He hopefully didn’t expect too much trouble from Route 1.
@Pikmin Eye *snicker* Very well. Nicely posted. Let's see where this takes you, then. Haha.
I will work on a post. Not sure when it will be done, since today will be somewhat busy, but I will be working on it! I'll try to be done before the week-end completely clogs me up! XD
I was going to just have the parts that were today, but then other people showed off things from the past and such. But, I kind of want to keep the details a bit more hidden, as per the nature of the game, so I'll give you something not from her point of view. Haha. Tell me if it's too much. There you go.
Location: City of Jungenbru, planet Taranese. Date: 3rd of February, 2162.
It was a busy marketplace, in the middle of a big city. People talked loudly, cars drove by both on the ground and in the air, chatter loud as people bought their varying wares and laughed happily in the bright city. This was one of the happier places in the galaxy, far from conflict and terrifying ordeals. In among these walked a tall woman in black, an alien with white skin and black eyes, carrying a weapon on her back. But, this wasn’t unusual. Bounty hunter, perhaps, this place was filled with aliens as it was and she wasn’t one of the worst offenders. She was speaking to someone, and it was reported that she placed a hand on his forehead, since this struck those who watched as just the slightest strange.
Then the woman, in a single deft movement, reached behind her with her free hand and grabbed her halberd before swinging it in a flawless slice which cleaved the man’s throat. He died immediately and fell back as a string of blood launched into the air from the woman’s sharp blade. Multiple screams were let out around her, and people called for the police. The woman was utterly calm, despite the action she had just committed and the screams of the terrified crowd around her. Police weren’t far away, and arrived directing their weapons at her, telling her to stand down. She pushed them back and off their feet with but a motion of her hand, using psionics. They started firing. The woman deftly dodged, in a way that seemed impossible, like she knew where they’d shoot, before she closed the distance and hacked at them with her halberd.
That day, their police force was left decimated. The woman darted from officer to officer, cutting them, incapacitating them so they fell bleeding and screaming onto the ground. The ground and surroundings quickly became stained with red. When reinforcement came, they found her stained with blood and standing with her halberd raised over a sea of injured, screaming and bleeding police officers. And if that wasn’t bone-chilling enough, the woman was smiling. A creepy, pleased and ill-fit smile, as if she was proud of herself or simply enjoying the sound of the screams which surrounded her. With this, it came as no illusion to the police that they needed help. A bounty was quickly put on her head.
With the bounty that was put on her head, a chase instigated. Yet, tracking her down seemed to always end up with blood spilled all over the ground around her before she fled again. Soon enough she vanished from the planet, just as more extreme measures were being put into motion, the law enforcements lamenting their inability to defeat the threat. And this one incident… was only the beginning of what would amount to the reputation of one of the deadliest criminals in the galaxy…
______
Location: Chronos Station Date: Today (19th of August, 2166?)
And here she stood. In among these soldiers in armor suitable for the age and with blaster-weapons for shooting purposes or what-have-you-not other things, stood also a tall woman in what appeared to be medieval armor with gems attached to it. Lataniva listened, her skin unnaturally white and eyes black, in her armor, spikes going a bit of everywhere from it. Here and there on the armor were gems, including one on the headband that held her long black hair directed backwards. On her back was a long halberd, with small blades on the end, strapped to her back. She might have looked strangely out-of-place.
Some here may know her reputation. If nobody else, bounty hunters should know her, for a price has long rested on her head.
… would know of several instances where she has been reported to have killed and maimed people as well as law enforcement for little to no reason. Multiple bounty hunters that have gone after her are known to never have returned. Her reputation paints her as a savage murderess with powerful psionic powers, not to be underestimated. Last known location, Deadzone, working with criminal organizations. She kind of dropped off the map recently, random deaths not too unlikely in the Deadzone so it wasn’t too unlikely she had been assassinated somewhere, but here she is.
She listened with a blank, almost mildly bored-looking expression as she looked at Dawson. This was information she already knew. Then, it was over to Stryker. He made it clear he had no intention of making friends. Didn’t bother Lataniva too much. She understood. For the moment, there was nothing immediate she felt like commenting on, for now she would stand and listen. For now.
@Delta44 Awww. Lonely little loner. Alright. Actually want to know more about Pureplain, huh. Almost thought I'd never get to say what's in Pureplain. Thank you for that opportunity. I know at least one of you will have use of one of the buildings it has to offer, eventually. Haha. Nicely posted~
It comforted her somewhat that, as a thief, she’d eventually be caught by one of the good guys. That meant she could explain her actions and they’d likely take care of her sister. She’d… rather they didn’t force any of them to join the Wards, or the Protectorate if they were at that age, but it was a comfort that whenever that happened they’d be taken care of, one way or anoth-
‘…!’ Wisp came to a full stop, staring with wide eyes at the gang before her. It was the Rockers, she knew, but did they know? Did they KNOW who they were attacking? All of her cautious personality said that she couldn’t possibly take the chance that it was at random. Viola was in there! U-unless Viola had left on some business Wisp knew nothing about. No matter. As much as Viola could easily outrun them, she couldn’t let them continue! They might see her real identity!
Wisp gently put down the box behind the corner she just passed, and turned to them. She’d remain invisible through the use of her power throughout this encounter, as always. She gathered light behind her, starting to charge for a blast if needed, and would keep charging it even as she did the rest. There was a sense of urgency that she had rarely felt before. This time was personal. While normally she moved slowly to avoid being heard, she was way too desperate to stop them quickly this time.
She dashed forward, and taking care not to run into any of their attacks at the door, she got as close to them as she could while also moving by them. Her thick socks would ensure that her run made a minimal amount of sound, but the sound of texture pressed against floor might still be heard by the observant. If successful, for the brief moment of a second they’d see a flash of light across their vision, the illusion of a white wall of flame between them and the door. A text in black threatening flame within the fire read a word of warning.
RECONSIDER
She then ran on past them, no intention of staying within a meter of such people for any lengthy period of time. The flames of their illusion fanned out into nothingness as she passed them, and she came to a stop on the other side of them, assuming her attempt had been successful. Of course, it had been but a bright illusion, nothing that could hurt them other than leave the annoying mark in one’s vision one gets from having stared directly at a bright light. But, Wisp would fish up a laser-pointer… She could make it worse if they persisted.
