As one can perhaps tell from the name, Slowpoke is slow. Meaning, as long as Sprout was seriously intending to stay away from the opposing Pokémon, Slowpoke would never be able to catch up. Sprout could jump about in the little area the battle was taking place in, and Slowpoke could but turn and attempt to catch up, but was too slow. Slowpoke, belatedly, noticed this and decided to change tactics as it felt its health being drained.

‘Sloooooooooooow…!’ The Slowpoke stopped, faced Sprout, and yawned. Sprout actually felt the air being taken in from the yawn, and in the same moment a deep drowsiness took shape within him, lying heavy on his mind. Sprout is feeling drowsy!

This was, however, around the time when Martin felt the time was right to throw the Pokéball he held. It flew, and Slowpoke wasn’t mobile in any way so the ball easily hit the pink Pokémon.

‘… poke.’ Slowpoke commented before being transferred into the Pokéball, which bounced on the cavern floor before coming to a stop.

It shook once. It shook twice…

Jacques inspected the ghosts that had come out for a bit as they ate, though noted Pumpkaboo coming up to inspect his hat. With what almost seemed like supernatural reflexes, a hand came up and grabbed the hat as it was knocked, lifting it off his head in the direction away from the ghost’s knock to protect it from damage. From there, though, Jacques simply held the hat extended in that direction, like a magician that just finished his trick. So it was as he held it that Pumpkaboo then could then explore inside it. After a couple of the surprised cries, Jacques turned the hat upside down and lowered it to give the ghost his freedom, after which he just smiled with Amelia’s amusement and placed the hat on the table, upside-down.

‘Ha-ha. The hardships of managing a bunch of Pokémon. I know them all. But they’re so worth it~!’ Charl commented happily on Amelia’s efforts to keep Phantump from drifting off and scaring people, as well as Pumpkaboo’s exploration.

Meanwhile, Jacques was considering Amelia’s answer.

‘Truly.’ He commented, looking at her. ‘Very well. Then I’ve learned what I want to know for this time. Perhaps you’d like to visit the Known Ruins, on an island south of your home, one day? I’m curious to what you’d feel there…’ Jacques mused as he finished his meal. He was… actually pretty quick. ‘I have a few things that I may be looking into, a few people I want to ask questions. Charl, I’ll be coming back for you later. Consider what I’ve asked of you.’ Jacques said, looking to Charl, who nodded back. Then Jacques turned to Amelia again.

‘So. Other than that, Amelia of Witchpeak. Is there anything you’d wish to ask of me?’ He smirked as he asked, while keeping part of his attention on his vulnerable hat.

Alberto laughed silently in happiness while attempting to pick up Ralias, meanwhile Lucia was noticing the clones attempting to climb on her and took a very determined step away from them, staring down at them with an unappreciating stare of “don’t”. Her passive expression didn’t entirely show it, but it was clear she didn’t appreciate it.

‘Oh, okay.’ Alberto simply said when Claire said she had to go. He smiled happily at being hugged by Ralia, before the clones vanished. That’s when he suddenly got an alarmed expression. ‘Wait, I don’t think I caught your… name…’ He asked, his voice trailing as Claire bolted, not allowed to entirely finish before she was away. ‘W-we’ll see you later!’ He yelled after, before being left with Lucia. … It’s around now that he started considering the later words of Claire, and he and Lucia exchanged a glance, but any words they said now was out of any even extended hearing range of Claire’s.

‘Hmpf. If we practiced in Dreamer Studios, they’d probably spy on us and then tell their sponsored coordinators behind the scenes! Nope! We practice somewhere secure!’ Yvonne declared with chin raised as she walked quickly when Claire caught up. ‘But, aiming to become the new and true Queen of Contests? Dethrone Valerie, become greater than she ever was?’ Yvonne gave a short, silent laugh. ‘Ho-ho-ho. Good luck with that. But, good that you’re not trying to make an All-Star. There are fundamental problems with trying to have a Pokémon win both Cute and Tough categories at the same time.’ She nods, as if agreeing with herself, as she continues.

‘Very well. Let’s have a Clever Contest.’ Yvonne smirked as she said.

‘Where Tough matches are simply about feats of strength, Beautiful is all about the pure visual appeal, Cool are about making the Pokémon themselves as awe-inspiring as possible, and Cute…’ Yvonne shuddered in her step. ‘… I’m still working on that one.’ There was a bit of bitterness in her voice there.

‘BUT, a Clever Contest is much more like a Pokémon Battle. The goal is to limit the opponent’s ability to make moves, use your resourcefulness to break out of traps made by your enemy and stun the public with strategies they wouldn’t be able to think of. All moves can qualify as “Clever” moves if used appropriately. But don’t, actually, hit. Prove you’re superior without actually hurting the opponent’s Pokémon. The Clever audiences does not appreciate shows of destruction. Show that you CAN end the battle instantly, that you’re in full control, but don’t actually do it. The smarter you look while doing it and the dumber you make your enemies look, the better.’ Yvonne smirked. ‘Of course, in an actual contest there’ll be four competitors. That’ll be fun.’

As she was describing, they wandered out of Redcoast City and onto Route 11.

Connected areas:
Redcoast City. Right behind you.
Rainrock City. Requires crossing Route 11, but it’s a pretty well-travelled and safe road.
Route 12. Requires crossing Route 11 on the way north, also pretty well-travelled.
Pokéball Factory. A turn east on the path north should bring you there.

It currently wasn’t raining, thankfully enough, but the clouds above warned it could start anew at any moment. Yvonne headed in the direction of the abandoned buildings and then sought out one that was open, finding what appeared to be an office building that stood with doors open. There weren’t really any damage, people had just left. Meaning there was a bunch of furniture, no lit lights and no support for the lights, and overall just kinda dark. This didn’t seem to stop Yvonne, though, who started shoving tables and benches to the side so she could open up a wide enough space for Pokémon shenanigans in the middle.

‘So. With all the rules of a Clever Contest on the line, I’m going to show you my Cool and Clever champion.’ Yvonne grabbed a Pokéball and turned to smirk in Claire’s direction. She had utmost confidence in the contents of that Pokéball. ‘This should constitute for practice of that particular form of Contests, now, shouldn’t it? Do you accept?’ She asked, looking to Claire inside the unlit building, with the assumption she had followed and stayed that long.

Completely ignoring the two Pikachus, Wooper turned and sent out a Water Gun at one of the fleeing Pichus. The targeted Pichu was unable to retreat out of the way quickly enough, and was hit by the stream of water and sent into a tree. This time, though, the Pichu didn’t faint. It was considerably damaged, but was able to stand up on four limbs and start dashing again.

Now, Pichus and Pikachus are actually pretty fast. Meaning, by the time Wooper had hit, there was no more time before Pichu would vanish out of sight if Dawkin didn’t engage in pursuit. Wooper was too slow to actually catch up with the small yellow rodent, but Dawkin should be able to keep equal pace, but it might be difficult to hit the little critter with a Pokéball mid-run. And, there were still two Pikachus that were watching, though they had stopped bolting.

What would Dawkin do?
I'll see if I can get a post up in 25 hours.
@Joshua Tamashii That's fine, but Jacques likes his hat very much and will defend it if someone tries to knock it off! XD

@Eklispe Nicely posted. Alright. Chasing on.
@Sickle-cell You so decently flashed the notion that someone's going to attempt recruiting Knight. I felt the need to make some kind of attachment on the heroic side, just in case that happens soon and they happen to somehow be successful. XD

Besides that, yeah. I'd like to know if she found something on Conflux in the database she might have access to or if she got any reply to her response. I just went ahead to not pause mid-collab and actually allow them to arrive and get the show started.
@Joshua Tamashii Heh. I will note, Jacques is going to hold onto his hat if he notices Pumpkaboo going for it in time, though he might offer it for minor amusement assuming no damage is done to it. Anyways. Nicely posted.

@Rune_Alchemist Queen of them all, eh? Alright. Good luck with that. XD
Nicely posted. Alright, then let me review Yvonne's arsenal and see what I'll have her plan. Haha.
Now for the opposite. Now I'm only tagging those that are spoken to directly. Heh.

Two people talked to her, I asked Captor over PM if I should go ahead, and I got the go ahead. So, there.
Mariette
and Eli

Mariette’s eyes briefly wandered to look at Sue as she landed in front of her. The bird had simple, reasonable questions. She frowned a bit, looking back at the battlefield.

‘Sue…’ Eli blinked at Sue as the diving petrel landed and spoke to them. Th-that was the one that… Deni had told a bit about her, between the meeting at the Pit Stop and what had later happened. They had arranged to… The liquid harpy bit together, her expression pained and sad, thinking of how to say it.

‘Justine made an attempt on my life.’ Mariette calmly explained her appearance, having none of the hesitation Eli had. Eli blinked a little in surprise, as this was news to her too, before Mariette continued. ‘Deni’s dead.’

Spoken without a shred of emotion in her voice. Eli grimaced in pain.

‘Sh-she defended mistress from an attack by Caroline von Visceral.’ Eli explained, her voice shaking. ‘I-it wasn’t MEANT to be a self-sacrifice… but we couldn’t save her…’ Eli closed her eyes as she spoke with a weak voice, black liquids threatening to spill from her already liquid eyes as she explained.

Then came ANOTHER bird to talk to her. Mariette frowned in annoyance. Is this what happens when you show yourself in public? Birds come up to talk to you? How annoying. This was the first time she really had shown herself publically like this, and she found distaste in how they could just up and ask her questions without her permission.

Regardless, she had her answers.

“Are you able to go to a place called The Overcity?”
‘I am.’
“Your ability might be needed”
‘I know.’

Her answers were short, confident, and to the point. She started walking forward, in mid-air, the portal under her feet moving to accommodate her moving forward. Mariette then spoke, opening tiny portals near herself and near Alexander (and anyone still near him), to transfer her words.

‘I came here to speak to Lily Hanson.’ So she said, still holding her stuffed bunny. ‘… But I see that’s no longer possible.’ She said, stopping eventually, looking down specifically at Alex where she still stood in mid-air, still in a dress damaged from the debris that had earlier fallen on her and bruises on the arms she had used to defend herself with.

She expected to be requested to be taken to Justine’s base right now.

Her most likely answer: You’re in no state to lay siege to Justine’s fortress. If I take you there as you are, you will die. … At least, that’s what she was preparing to say. She then expected argumentation. Perhaps she’d change her mind. But, she was open to being surprised.

Left behind on the rooftop was Eli, trying to hold herself together after having had to recall what happened to Deni, shaking and holding herself with a pained expression on the liquid harpy.

@BrokenPromise@Majoras End@Card Captor
@Eklispe Statement: The Pichus were lower level. Hm. Maybe I should hint that somehow? Haha.

But no, I'm not going to allow people to catch fainted Pokémon. Takes away a bit of the challenge.

@Pikmin Eye Nicely posted. Yupp, simple enough.

roleplayerguild.com/posts/4169072 - Found where Nincada learned Sand Attack. Search "Sand" for quick reference.
@Rune_Alchemist There are choices that could be made there, so a moment's pause there.

@Eklispe So, um. Aiming super-effective moves on Pokémon you intend to catch, eh? Alright, then.

@Joshua Tamashii Jacques had multiple things he wanted to ask, asking them in a line would be unnatural, but I didn't want to make that three posts in a row, so here. My compromise. Hah.

@Pikmin Eye I will note, I do believe Nincada should have previously learned Sand-Attack, but I don't see that in your little hider. Anyways. I will note, if you want to go down the pool yourself later, I won't allow you to automatically breathe underwater. xD
Nicely posted, and moving on.

‘Oooh…!’ Alberto was wide-eyed as he got to play a bit with Ralia, poking the Pokémon lightly and playfully while reaching for those climbing on him to see if he could put one on his head or similar silly antics because he was finding this amazing. ‘Absolutely…!’ He responded to the claim Ralia’s adorable.

Meanwhile Lucia simply stood upright keeping her eyes more on Alberto right now, ignoring any other looks. Like, he was her most important priority right now, and playing was fine but she was keeping an eye on him just in case he did something she didn’t approve of. Didn’t seem like there was any problems with playing with Ralia.

‘… Hmpf!’ Yvonne made a self-content sound about being good at “skedaddling”. ‘I’m going to assume you mean practicing our contest performances. Very well. Then we’ll need a sufficiently private stage. How about-’

‘Oh, I could borrow you my private one? It’s in the backstage area of the Dreamer Studi-’ Alberto started, raising his chin to the current discussion, but his interruption was interrupted by Yvonne continuing.

‘… we go out on Route 11 and find somewhere. I heard there are abandoned buildings out there. They should do. Okay, so I’m to pick type… but what categories are you prepared to compete in? Any, or are you focused?’ Yvonne asked Claire, giving a serious stare and a smirk.

‘Um.’ Alberto clearly wasn’t seeing the problem with his own proposition, looking over from Yvonne to Claire now, confused. Yvonne’s already directing one foot to start walking, if Claire would like to follow.

Would she?

Wooper came out, aimed her shot, and Mud Shot was away!

‘Chu?’ The targeted Pichu raises it’s ears a little as it somehow senses the incoming shot of mud before-

The shot of mud impacts the Pichu, which is sent rolling into a tree and hits it, it’s eyes crossed out and out.

It’s Super Effective! Pichu fainted!

… That is, not in a state to be captured.

The remaining Pichus, panicked by the ambush, scattered, running in separate directions. So did the Pikachus, running as mouse tend to upon being attacked. Two of them, however, frowned notably and dashed up towards Wooper on four legs each and tail in the winds.

‘Pika-CHUUUUUUU…!’ They launched their Thundershocks, in their intentions to counter the attack. However, they clearly hadn’t taken done their type-matchup homework, because Wooper had absolutely nothing to fear from the yellow electrical bolts trying to zap her. The willpower to fight immediately drained from the expressions of the two attacking Pikachu, their legs breaking to stop and expressions replaced with doubtful ones. Ooops.

Anyways. The Pichus he was after were fleeing in three different directions and one was lying fainted. Two Pikachus had moved to attack, buuuut their violent intentions just went out along with their electric sparks as they hit Wooper. Now, what?

Amelia let out her Pokémon, and they could feed as they liked. Now, Pokémon-food are sorted by kind of body rather than type, but there’s probably something in there that’s good for them. Charmander got its own little piece of food to eat, though Jacques wasn’t letting out any of his own Pokémon.

‘Oh?’ Jacques raised an eyebrow, looking at Amelia. ‘You can sense spirits, know when they’re around… you say?’ He then inspected her Pokémon as they came out, his eyes lingering on each. They stopped when he reached Phantump, considering. ‘That’s very interesting. Such abilities exist in minor amounts in various Mediums, but to that degree… I know of only three others. None of them is a fan of me. Granted, two of them aren’t particularly fans of anyone, but…’ He chuckles thinking about something, a personal joke, perhaps.

‘Oooh. Now I see.’ Charl commented, looking towards Litwick with a little smile. ‘Alright. I know what you were thinking. Hmm.’ He was clearly thinking about it, even if he wouldn’t be attempting it. Jacques, though, turned to look at Amelia again.

Now, Jacques has multiple questions that he’d wish to ask, but asking each one at a time would take ages, so here’s the questions that aren’t necessarily asked without waiting for Amelia’s answer in between.

‘I’m curious. Was there any particular way this ability manifested?’
‘Do you have any interest in others who can do similar things? Anything you’d wish to ask them?’
‘So, with that ability of yours… What are your ambitions? Anything that concerns your ghosts, perhaps? Fu-fu.’

Jacques fairly naturally picked something from a somewhat higher price-class, like that’s just natural, while Charles took something more modest.

Now, Nincada doesn’t know Tackle. But a few Scratches later, intercepting the Zubats as they were descending to attack, the bat Pokémon were fainting or fleeing, and Martin was free to head on, Nincada a few exp-points richer.

Arriving in the corner of the cave with the pool, Bulbasaur came out and shot his Leech Seeds at the Slowpoke.

The Slowpoke was hit. The seeds started draining it.

Slowpoke didn’t move. The seeds continued draining it.

Slowpoke sat, not moving, dumb blank face looking at the wall. It didn’t seem to have noticed the-

‘SLOW!?’ The Slowpoke suddenly called out, startled, numerous seconds later than it felt reasonable that it should. It spun around, identifying the attacker and turned towards Sprout, a splash of water following it as the tail whipped out of the water. Making a (delayed) decision…

‘… POKE!’ Tail in the winds, the Slowpoke darted towards Sprout on four legs, intending on delivering a Tackle.

The rest of the Slowpokes didn’t seem to have noticed that there was suddenly a battle happening, sitting there so silently.
