What Brings You To India:His time in Athens ironically gave him an interest in non-greek cultures, his horizons spanning to different parts of the globe. After saving up money from his Mailroom job for nearly 3 years, he wanted to take one more gap year before he finished college. He felt like the time was right, wanting to experience more before he set out into the working world. He had a choice between taking a tour of Britain, or traveling to Asia and residing in India for a few months. As luck would have it, he had just begun rereading the The Ramayana and thought it made sense to try India. It was, after all, the more difficult of the two to get to. He felt like he could save up quickly again to go and visit the British Isles later on.

History:
Alcander was born and raised in Tampa, Florida to Nestor and Candice Mires. Both parents were of Greek origin, having married 4 years before his birth. His mother was a stay at home wife and his father served in the Gulf War in the army. Alcander was preceded a year by his big sister Barbara, and born before his younger brother by 2 years, Hagan. Barbara was the likeable overachiever, his parents often gushing over her grades and extracurricular activities. In turn, Hagan was the baby and often doted upon and given soft treatment. This led Alcander feeling both unimpressive and unappreciated, even though his father often gave him talks on how he was named after his father before him, from the old country. He gave him Greek mythology books as a small boy to read, though admittedly during Alcander's teen years he dropped the habit and pursued other interests such as Archery, music, and video games.

His mother taught him to cook Greek cuisine, and his father insisted on teaching all of his children their native language. It did Nestor proud to realize Alcander began speaking it earlier than his other siblings, and that accomplishment bolstered Al's resolve. He began searching for things he could learn...skills he could acquire. Even later on in his teenage years, gaining friends who often saw fit to skip class instead of learning anything, he kept his resolve. He would go to after school fencing for two years, meeting up with his close group of friends behind the baseball fields or online playing games. He would get excellent grades in chemistry, his interest in the centre science branching off from old books on alchemy he would check out at the library. It was around his 16th birthday when he went on his first date with a girl named Sandy, but the relationship did not last very long. When he got older, he realized he only went out with her because he'd never done it before and she was cute at the time. It was just another experience to get through. He began to abhor things that would hold him back, like smoking. Things like that wasn't even worth his time experiencing, in his mind. He received his first job working at the local grocery store age 17 and worked there for a year.

In fact it was just before he left for his trip that he found his old childhood mythology books, reading them once more and gaining a more mature understanding of the stories. It was in the center of Greece of all places that he gained an appreciation for Anglo-Saxon and Indian literature. He bumped into a certain librarian in Athens multiple times and mulled over the possibility of dating once more, but after having a few discussions with her, he decided against it.

Once he got home, he attended the University of South Florida. He instantly made his major in the Classics, excelling in most of his classes of history and philosophy. He did almost as well in chemistry, but his initial teacher was notoriously tough to please. A year in, he got a job as the Mailroom clerk at the college. It wasn't a difficult job. Alcander has seen Natasha around more than a little, having lived on the same floor as her. He has an appreciation for her dedication to what she does, but her smoking and overall persona aren't what he'd call best friend material. They've never really broken the ice and had a real get-to-know. He's not sure if he wakes her up in the morning if he ever wants to play the flute.

Alcander and Cera share a lot of the same interests, and tend to avoid the same things as well. He feels like it's nice to have someone else around who thinks more than they speak, though he recognizes the difference they have between observant and shy. Still, he considers her a nice girl and a fine friend, but he doesn't recall a time that they've actually had a long conversation. Alcander would probably enjoy it, he thinks.

I've been in India for a few months, and it's been a cool experience. The local culture is nice, and I love walking by the water and taking in the sights. This hotel though, I'm not so sure about, haha. It has a nice view, and I love the architecture. But the people I'll need to make my mind up on. I'm not saying some aren't fun to be around, but still. A part of me wants to kind of fade off, and another really hopes that I can connect with someone here. But I doubt that'll happen.

Alcander has probably spent the most time with Ananya here, picking her brain and letting her guide him around the city. She invites him in when she's cooking and he can't help but love it, and she brings a smile to his face just by helping him out. She doesn't have to help, after all. Still, Alcander recognizes being friendly and being connected, and other than her being from here, he doesn't have much in common with her. He's glad he knows her, however.

Murphy makes Alcander laugh, just by being himself. He doubts they'll ever find something to bond over so they don't really get into stuff, but Alcander used to be jokingly boisterous with his high school friends and can at least put on the persona of not being a shut in. Alcander can and has enjoyed a joke or two with him, but quickly he'd find a way to get out of there. They're just too different, and all that smoke doesn't work for Al. If they ever got into a fight, Al thinks he might could hold his own, until he suffocates from the smoke.

Al is on cordial terms with Marc so far. They treat each other nicely, with Al's pleasant presence and Marc's warmth. Plus they talk about traveling when they can. However at night, Alcander will probably step back and let Marc be Marc. One thing Al's noted is that Marc sometimes let's people walk all over him, and Al's waiting for the chance to help him out with that if he could.

Alcander and Owen both love comfortable clothes and settings. Al's dad was in the military, and he knows just how Owen is feeling, needing some R&R.If Owen ever wanted to talk about time in the military, or anything on the subject, Alcander would happily oblige. He loves military history after all. But that's not a real good subject outside of a university. At least they're both easy going. They can do their own thing next to each other without any complaint. Plus they both love swimming and walking on the beach, so they tend to run into each other every now and then anyway.

"She's like lightning. You can get struck once and die or get struck 7 times and be fine."

Alcander and Areum have bumped into each other a fair amount of times, and each time it seems different. One conversation she's flying off the wall, and another one they find common ground and he learns a few interesting things. They both love to talk about traveling, however. New places and experiences both catch their eyes, and when they get into a discussion on that, Alcander almost matches her enthusiasm. But the way she goes back and forth, she catches him off guard to say the least. Once she gets bubbly without warning, he looks for an escape route!

@Lady AmaltheaI just read your rules and etiquette and I have a few questions and things to clarify.

Hider

I'd like to think I am a well rounded poster for the most part, but to let you know I haven't been on this site for very long and the RP I have posted most in has been an extremely (surprisingly so tbh) casual one that I cannot write impressive posts for. It will remain unnamed because I don't want to make anyone feel bad but the GM doesn't give me a lot. Though he does have a lot to manage with as many players as he has. My actual posting skills can be shown here. (And that is only so you don't have to go through a lot of digging. I'm just a small bit intimidated by all the rules. Though I'm sure there won't be a problem).

My first question is, must we provide a character image? I don't often do that because I generally have an image in my head I can't accurately find on media. XD. I feel as if I would have to plan the character around the image instead of using an image to enhance the character.
Also, I suppose we roll for our floors as @Charnobylisk said? I might have missed that part in the intro if that was included.
