Current Projects/Freelance work

  • I am a voice talent and script writer for Faerun History
  • I have a much smaller personal Youtube channel that I use to make videos on various subjects. Only been making videos for 2 years, but it's growing!
  • I'm the host of a Science Fiction & Fantasy Podcast where I interview authors of the genre.

Interests (Includes but is not limited to)

  • Writing/Reading (Love writing and I own too many books)
  • Video Games (Been a gamer for close to 23 years now)
  • Working Out/Martial Arts (Wing Chun/Oyama Karate mostly. Some historical swordplay as well.)
  • History (Military History is my specialty)
  • Zoology
  • Art (Mostly Illustrations. Used to be good. Am picking it back up)
  • Voice Acting/Singing
  • Tabletop Gaming (Started late in the game. Been at it for 3 years. I was the kid who bought the monster manuals and D&D books just for the lore for the longest time. I've played 3.5e, 5e, Star Wars D20, Edge of the Empire, PF, and PF2.)
  • Weaponry of all kinds
  • Anime (mostly action/shonen. DBZ & YYH being my favorites)
  • Movies (Action/War/Drama films being my go-to)
  • Music (Rock of all kinds, as well as historical folk songs, sea shanties, pub songs, a bit of classical music, etc)
  • Guitar (am learning to play, but being left handed makes it challenging)
  • There's more but if you care enough you can PM me :P

Roleplay F.A.Q.

  • Fantasy, Sci Fi, and Historical are my genres. Fantasy being my favorite and Sci Fi/Historical being close seconds.
  • Advanced / Nation / 1x1 / Casual (only in certain circumstances)
  • I generally write at the 'Advanced Level' meaning 4+ Paragraphs with good grammar.
  • I am usually busy with many projects and RPs, but if you wish to do a 1x1 with me, you'll need to present your case. Those I already do it with have my trust as a Roleplayer.
  • I love many, many fictional universes so me trying to list them all is an effort in futility!

The office of Lord Cho-Lan was resplendent and tidy, to say the least. His desk was well carved and polished, surrounded by three chairs that were soft and clean, ornamentally made like most of the furniture in his office. Cupboards were filled with books and trinkets from far away systems, and a beast skull the size of Neil's chest hung upon the left wall. Behind the Lord was a vast window framed by gilded purple drapes, the window giving the holographic image of rolling hills and a distant waterfall.

Cho-Lan was a heavy-set man, his eyes even more exotic than Sayeeda's. His outfit was as cultured and tidy as his office, though his face showed far less surety than his money and resources. Neil got the distinct impression that he believed the pilot's every word, but would be skeptical because he simply didn't want to.

"So, how many of these...'bio-ships' did you actually see, Mr. Edwards?" Cho-Lan asked, a raised eyebrow.

"Look," Neil said, leaning on the desk with his elbows after having been scolded not to thrice already. He gestured helplessly. "Lord Cho-Lan, I appreciate the large sum of money you've wired us, but I wouldn't be sitting here complaining if there wasn't a huge problem. I wish you would appreciate what I'm trying to do here."

"So..." Cho-Lan said with a smile. "the health of your Captain has nothing to do with you being here? Or the expensive beverages you're supping as you wait?"

Neil sighed. "No, I'd be in the med bay. Listen, I'm sure you've dealt with a whole lot of bullshit, being a man in your position. Now, you can smell expensive bourbon on me, some sweat, but I doubt you smell bullshit on my voice. I think you know I'm telling the truth. You paid me because you do. The least you can do is tell the planetary patrol, right?"

Cho-Lan scowled, very reluctant to accept the logic that came from this very disrespectful young man. He hesitated before continuing, and finally replied. "If it will get your elbows off my desk." Neil immediately lifted his arms up as if God had called him from heaven, a profound look on his face, full of awe. "No problem." He said, lifting himself off the chair he'd scooted forward.

"My servants will see you out." Cho-Lan said dismissively, waving him away. Neil awkwardly placed his hands together and bowed as he walked backwards multiple times, before spinning towards the door.

Only to spin back. "Do you have any more bourbon by the way, that's some good ass stuff?"

"Yes, take a bottle." Cho-Lan said back, snappily.

"Man, I have not had good drinks like that since I was on the Carminian orbital station." He began, grabbing a bottle and pouring a glass. "These two Haxoreth girls, twins I swear to god, the-"

He stopped when he heard the faint voice of Sayeeda. It took him less than five seconds to continue, turning to Cho-Lan. "You know what? I've wasted enough of your time. I should go."

"If you stayed any longer, I would have commissioned your ship."

It was in the manufacturing hall, in one of the less manned sectors did Neil finally reply back. He was halfway to medbay, but it was good to hear her voice. "You ok?" He asked, holding a finger to his opposite ear to better hear. He was glad his doctor got through with him quickly, though the ear he pressured still pained him somewhat. "What's going on?"
@Penny
I was going to think up a character tonight, but I'm at a loss for even a concept because there's more possibilities than I gave this credit for. Hmmm...
It is really, really hard to have sex with broken ribs. That's probably the worst part.

Edit, or I suppose I should say, “enjoy.” Thats the hard part.

The worst thing I've ever had to deal with in sex was an ear infection, which granted, made my head swimmy!
Also is it too late to get everyone riled up about Columbus Day Vs Indigenous Peoples Day?

I've argued about this hard the past few years, so I am all fizzled out. In essence though, don't think Indigenous People's day makes any real sense. It's not solving any problems.

White Advocates: Indigenous peoples day! Fuck Columbus!
The Indigenous side of my family: Woo! Columbus day!

Also, what video(s) are you talking about? Even if they exist, why does that lower his credibility?

Like I said I believe that the concern has merit, just the timeframe and the alarm is a bit overhyped.

And I meant the original video you posted. The guy who is in it posts many videos that rely on shock value.
@Dark Wind Apparently South Korea already has motion sensor turrets on their border with North Korea. I hope the world goes the Star Wars/Mass Effect route and not the Matrix Route :P

Do you think that replacing a vast segment of the labor force with AI has the same level of difficulty and return of investment as scanning someone's thoughts and creating surrogate robots?

All I'm saying is, robots and AI are advancing faster than we anticipated, but not as fast as we are fearing. I've never watched a video from the guy who's video you linked, but after watching that once, my youtube recommended has been trying to show me his vids, and all 5 thumbnails I've seen have been him asking things like "how will we survive" in one form or another. It's why I don't give too much credence to him.

One of my biggest fears used to be advanced AI, which is why I have a 'been there, done that' attitude on this. I've research more than I am comfortable enough about it. It's happening, just not to the level futurists are claiming. In 10 years we'll have some self driving cars and more drones, maybe some more automated dispenser machines, and some people will be without jobs, but a lot of them won't be blindsided by it as if the future caught them by surprise.
<Snipped quote by POOHEAD189>
Perhaps, but this announcement and this article might be evidence that he's not exaggerating.

Futurists enjoy being very vocal about such things, and it's true that technology is growing rapidly. But every time I've thought the way you are, I've always found something to make me think 'oh, not a big deal.' In fact, forever futurists have been claiming they would soon be able to hook your brain up to a computer. Yet a study last year in China had someone's thoughts being scanned, and it took 40 minutes to download 1% of one thought. And the average human thinks 30-50 thousand thoughts a day, sending us back decades in where we thought we were.

I agree with you, this is something to take note of. But at the same time, we won't be seeing surrogate robots in 5 years.

Okay, now to find some dinner in this teeming hive of a city, and then writin' time.

Naril's Adventures: Please Leave Me Alone Even Though You're Cute, I Have Broken Ribs And Also I Want To Write And I Don't Live Here.

probably not a great book title.

'Naril's Adventures: How About No'
