Just standing at the border and waiting made Wolfheart nervous. He didn't like the idea of staying still for too long with everything that was going on. He extended and retracted his claws into the dirt and leaves underneath his paws as he kept an ear out for a MistClan patrol. Silverstar would understand where they were coming from, she had to. He didn't know if they'd lost cats to these murders, but she wasn't one to sit by and let killers run rampant across their territories.

He tensed when he caught movement in the reeds beyond but relaxed almost immediately after when he saw the familiar yellow fur of Lightningnose. He blinked warmly at the she-cat and felt a surge of relief that she didn't seem upset by their presence. "Dawnwing and Tigershine returned to us with Russetfern's body. We want to speak with Silverstar about doing something to stop these murders before this goes any further and any more innocents die." He flicked his tail towards the patrol behind him, "Our numbers are simply for safety, we don't wish any harm on MistClan; only to talk."

"What's going on Lightningnose?" he heard another voice call out from beyond the reeds as a second head joined the first; a mottled gray and black that he was pretty sure belonged to Reedmask. He saw the same surprise flicker across the tom's face as his eyes looked over them before settling on the apprentices for a moment. "I can't imagine this is just a social call, but Sedgepaw'll be happy to see some familiar faces I'm sure."
Ah yeah, forgot bout that
It's been a bit since I've watched RWBY, but this seems like it'd be fun

"I think she will. Even if we've only seen her speak at Gatherings she seems level-headed enough to at least want more information before she makes a decision." Squirrelpaw's voice was quiet as she responded to Ashenpaw. Finchwing blinked warmly at her apprentice as they went to join Greenpool and Wolfheart at the entrance.

Wolfheart felt a little bit of the tension drain from his shoulders at Greenpool's words. Given everything going on right now trust was something that was sorely needed if they were to survive this. "Thank you, I appreciate that trust. The last thing I want is for anyone else to get hurt, or worse." The idea of anyone else ending up like Russetfern made him want to be sick or drive his claws into something. No one else in the clan was going to go through the pain that Braveleap was right now, not if he had anything to say about it.

Amber eyes flickered across the two apprentices and Finchwing before he gave a nod and they all trotted into the forest. He kept to the forefront of the group and padded quickly through the trees. He found it somewhat difficult to ignore that sounds of twittering birds and the scuffling of small paws in the underbrush, but that wasn't what they were out to do. He kept his ears pricked for any noises past those of prey, thankfully hearing nothing, but pausing every so often to remark the borders as Jaystar had requested.

"What's MistClan like?" one of his ears twisted back at Squirrelpaw's question, "We've only met at the Gathering before and that isn't a super long time to get to know them."

"Many of us have friends in MistClan and ThornClan both. There's been peace for so long it's hard not to. They're usually very warm and welcoming," Finchwing responded. Hopefully they'll be that way when a bunch of BirchClan cats show up on their border.

He paused at the edge of their border with MistClan, looking out across the expanse of marsh and reeds. "It'd probably be best to wait for a patrol to come by. I don't think they'd appreciate us just traipsing into their camp with words of war."

Remaining nerves melted away and Viper let her tense muscles finally relax a bit as Skua removed his claws from Handsome's neck and allowed the other dragon to stand back up. He looked more defeated than before and she felt a stab of sympathy for him. If only there was something she could do for him other than kind words and bandages. She never wanted any of the dragons in her tribe, or those she considered friends, to be hurting in any way. Not being able to do anything about it only made it that much worse.

Her head swiveled towards Jaguar as she spoke and her scales brightened just a bit. "I can do that! I work with Queen Ardent enough that I think she would at least listen to what they have to say if I'm there." She might not believe a bunch of outsiders, but her own tribe should grab her attention easily enough. She blinked in surprise at Dreamseeker's words. "You think you could do that? Protect us I mean."

"I think we'd have a pretty good chance. If not immediately, once we figure out who is responsible we can make sure that they leave the RainWings out of all this." Eclipse said with a fair amount of confidence to her ears as he stepped away from Dreamseeker and dropped back to the ground next to her and Jaguar. "I think it's a good idea. If we have someone who is familiar with the innerworkings of the tribe then we already stand a better chance than we did before. We don't know any of the customs beyond what Jaguar has told us so any help would be appreciated." He bowed his head a bit towards her and she perked up a bit more.

Aardwolf nodded in agreement. "I don't know what kind of protection we could promise, but it's a sound a plan as any. It might also do us some good to try and get Lemur to come with us to see Queen Ardent. He may not listen to our requests, but I imagine he'd be hard pressed to ignore a command from his queen."

Wow, these guys were a lot better at planning and getting their ideas out there. She didn't think she'd be confident enough to do something like that. "You guys are meeting with her tomorrow morning right?"
I didn't want to go too far ahead without other people posting

Some of the nerves subsided at Dreamseeker's smile, but she still kept one eye trained to the trees. Her eyes widened and she looked between Skua and Eclipse at this new information. "I...I had no idea, I'm so sorry." She ducked her head and shuffled her feet across the dirt, leaving shallow grooves behind. Someone, whoever had come and had spoken with them, used their venom to kill a queen. What did that mean for them? She hadn't been a part of the deal, she only heard about it after the fact, right when Jaguar had been exiled, but to think they were basically responsible made her feel sick. If the assassins didn't come for them; would the SkyWings kill them instead? Her scales had turned a pale, sickly green.

Eclipse looked uncomfortable, but he gave a quick nod of acceptance to her apology, "Thanks, we just want to find out who's responsible. We don't blame the RainWings. At least not as much as the one who actually killed her."

"I really don't know anything about it, I wasn't there when it happened. I was just told afterwards that we weren't supposed to talk about it." She looked towards Jaguar, "You were there, right Jaguar? You're better at fighting so maybe they wouldn't come after you. Or maybe if we left the rainforest to talk about it." She was grasping but she didn't really see an easy way out of this.

"I don't like any of this." Squirrelpaw meowed softly as she followed behind Ashenpaw to the freshkill pile and picked up a mouse. "There has to be a better way to sort all of this out than fighting. I mean, I'm just as upset as everyone about what happened to Russetfern, but this doesn't seem right."

Finchwing stepped up behind the two apprentices as Squirrelpaw spoke, "We'll just have to play it by ear right now. With luck Silverstar will see the ridiculousness of all of this. It's Emberstar I'm more worried about. He's always been arrogant and impulsive, but never one to put his clan to unnecessary harm, so there's a chance he won't agree either." She sighed, "I would recommend keeping quiet while we're at MistClan's camp though," she looked imploringly at Ashenpaw, "Now let's hurry up."

The sound of Greenpool's voice pulled Wolfheart out of his thoughts and he looked away from the sky towards the brown and white she-cat. "We need to have enough cats to deter anyone that might be watching for weakness, but we don't want Silverstar to see a war band approaching her territory. The killers should be much less inclined to attack a group of five even if two are apprentices." Long claws sunk into the ground from where they were hidden under his tail, "They're nearly old enough to be warriors anyway, and they'll be quicker to make it back to camp if something should happen." He would not lose anyone else to these murderers. The clan has already been through too much and his patience was running thin for answers, and justice.

He looked past Greenpool to Finchwing approaching with the two apprentices and stood up, "Lets be on our way then. We still need time to make it back and send a patrol to ThornClan." With that he pushed past the entrance and into the forest.
@Dark Cloud no worries! Life takes priority

The radiant light released from his hand the second that these eyeless creatures got within range of him, incinerating several of the small ones as they shambled forward. More simply flooded forward to take their place and he took a step back, away from the encroaching blight, but kept close enough that he could keep eyes on the rest of his team. "Make sure to call out if you need help. I can only watch so many things at once." The writhing of the trees themselves was bad enough, but these things sent waves of wrongness through his entire body from horn to tail. Hopefully Logrim made it past all of this to join with the adept team. They needed that blight-lord destroyed as quickly as possible.

As he launched another spell at the creatures, sending several of the humanoid shaped figures scattering back with hisses of burning wood, he fully registered the shaking of the ground beneath his feet. He bared his teeth in frustration, if this tide just kept coming they'd be overwhelmed before too long, but their job was just to stop them from getting any further than they already were. Though, if the mass of small ones wasn't bad enough now they had to deal with a giant one too. Fantastic. The tree towered above any of them and he winced with each massive step it took closer to them. At least it was slow, that'd be the best advantage against it.

The four of them should be able to hold the blight off, but it'd probably be up to their front liners to take out the big guy. The movement of the boulder caught his eye at that moment, and then knocked Khol clean to the ground. He brought up an arm to keep the shattered bits of stone from landing in his eyes and he felt several larger shards pockmark his armor. Shit, make that three of them. If this thing could take out the biggest member of their party in a single blow they may be way out of their league here.

With a sweep of his staff he sent a wave of radiant fire over Koth's head into the thick center masses of these creatures, hopefully keeping them at bay long enough that he could at least stabilize their giant companion. "Cover me!" he called out towards the other two, quickly rushing over to Khol and dropping to a knee. He kept one eye trained on the blight as his hands glowed with a gentle silver-white light; it'd keep him alive but unfortunately out of the fight. It would take him a moment to make sure Khol was stable and out of harms way, hopefully the others could keep up.
