✡ Playable Characters ✡

✡ Accepting a small amount[Probably 2 max] of unaffiliated, ordinary humans that can get caught up in the mess

Hey guys. If you're interested and have questions, we have extensive info typed out for each character type, that I will later put in OOC, in our discord:

discord.gg/5t74Yqa

You may make unaffiliated humans that are not hunters as well. However, we're only going to accept very few. Just figured I'd clear that up initially.

“Oh how terrible to treat you and your family so lowly. The dark elves treated you no differently than the light elves have treated them. A horrendous cycle…”Risa lamented in reaction to Elthrael’s words with genuine sadness. “You have a very lovely appearance, Elthrael. Just because you appear different from Dionaea and I does not mean you are no less a fairy.” She listened to him as he spoke. Elthrael was unfortunately right; some beings such as orcs were just violent in nature and there was nothing to be done. Though she had never met an orc, so she decided she wouldn’t write them off yet. He continued on with a story of a different race of fairies who were hunted to extinction. Risa had not quite heard that fairytale before but it was intriguing.

Finally, Elthrael suggested she do a royal request to which she wasn’t so sure would work well at this point. She was a respected girl amongst the River Fairy Kingdom but they’d need more than that. Perhaps her position could make people want to listen to her words though, and she could be a potential speaker. The risk that came with that was great. She decided to ponder on the best strategy before replying to that. He also brought up something about a scroll within the forest of elven moons that only a royal hand could open. She’d be willing to do so but if he meant the Moon Elf Village, it was a long ways away.

Kyran also put his two cents in. He had a less peaceful outlook, suggesting that all humans had to fight Aklenroth if they were to win and that they needed to learn how to fight. “Kyran, we can’t force them all into war. It would not work even if we wanted it to. Search your heart, my darling. Maybe it’d be wise to teach them how to protect themselves but they need not fight any wars they do not wish to.” Thankfully, Kyran agreed on the priority of finding humans and Dionaea’s family. It would be great if everyone was on board with that priority at the least.

That was when something peculiar happened. Kyran’s left eye started to glow red, causing growing concern. She watched him put his hand over his eye and she worriedly touched his shoulder, rubbing it comfortingly as she concentrated healing towards his eye. Risa could not understand what was happening but she knew how to spot pain faster than anyone. “Kyran?” He answered with a low growl but seemed to appear to normal upon Alie joining them. She tilted her head in confusion but decided to let it go until later.

Elsea then told Alie she wasn’t hungry and Risa gasped. “Oh no, my sweet girl you have to fuel yourself!“ She didn’t get to protest too much about it as Elsea went on a tirade against Kyran soon after her statement, echoing the opinion she stated in a more aggressive manner. Risa wondered if all humans were so passionate. When Elsea started to talk about the gravity of war, Risa couldn’t help but tear up. The idea of seeing her friends die was something she could not stomach.

“Even if it changes me, I will fight to make sure none of you die! I will heal you all until my last breath! I understand war is something I have not experienced and I am young, but we should have hope.” There was a pause after her words in which Dionaea took up the chance to respond. She tried to speak and Risa noticed she was holding back tears so she squeezed her hand under the table.

Dionaea finally pushed through with her chin raised and Risa was so proud. She wanted to point at her and tell everyone, ‘That’s my best friend!’ The girl really was so tough and admirable with all that happened. Her words were uniting words to fight for a better world, which Risa loved. They had to truly believe in their cause and that they’d win.

She also very considerately added on a dish for Elsea, which Risa was very happy she did as well.

“We must believe in this with all our heart.”Risa said finally

Risa smiled listening to Kyran excitedly talk about the restaurant and how he helped hunt and fish. It was nice to see him smile and be himself. It really warmed her heart to see him happy. She glanced at the girls. Elsea and Dionaea were smiling and excited as well. She wished she could paint them all in this moment and save it. She feared there would be harsh times ahead. No, she knew there would be. Even an optimist like her could admit so. Her eyes moved across the table towards Elthrael and noticed he didn't seem as energetic as the rest.

"But that was before my little... exile. Hnn hnn. I'm sure some dark elves would know what I'm talking about. Ahh! Unlike them however, I do not hold such petty grudges against an entire race, what purpose would that do other than destroy your very person? Pfah."

"Oh dear, exile? What happened? My grandfather told me stories of the dark elves back when I lost my Cloud to their clutches... I had never known what hate felt like until that day." Risa's voice grew somber but she smiled a little at the memory of Cloud. "He reminded me of a lesson he had taught my brother and me when we were still very young. It was that only those who have never known kindness are unkind." She moved her gaze around to see if everyone was listening."This is important to remember through life. Those who seem cruel, have only known cruelty. One who is not taught how to speak, cannot speak. If one has never experienced kindness, then they will not know how to be kind. I suppose many demons are the exception. I have heard of many that were born with a taste for evil. This is something I cannot understand." She paused now to allow Elthrael to reply with story of his exile if he so wished.

Risa recalled how different her brother had felt when their grandfather used to speak the way he did. Helio had always been so headstrong and opinionated. He had stood up, cursing the dark elves and his grandfather's words. He hated the dark elves and wanted to fight them out of the kingdom; he spoke how nothing could excuse their cruelty. Risa had felt that way at times more than she wanted to admit this week. Taking Dionaea's family and murdering her innocent siblings had been despicable. She had known loss and known the pain this must have caused Dionaea was immeasurable. She had done nothing at all to deserve it. It made Risa's blood feel like it was boiling when she thought of it. The light elves had been the ones to banish them and yet they held so much hate for all other creatures. There had to be more to the story. There had to be a reason for such evil.

Risa took on a hushed tone as she began to speak. There was not many people seated in the restaurant at all and no one else was seated by them, but she still chose to be cautious. "The dark elves have known great pain. The light elves scorned and feared them for being different...So they banished them. They were outcasted to the frigid cold up north. Quite a terrible thing to do to those who have done no crime and I understand those elves have not known the kindness I have known." Risa paused, twiddling her fingers as she decided on her next words,"But... I cannot excuse them. If they insist on ruling creatures they know nothing about and lashing their pain out on us, we must fight back."

Risa did not want to hurt anyone. She wished to understand the dark elves and have a dialogue. Another important lesson she learned, especially from her losses, was that the world was not as kind as the one she grew up in. Not everyone was understanding and not everyone wanted to talk things out. If they were willing to hurt Dionaea's family without her doing anything at all, then Risa knew the compassionate route was not going to work well with them. Still, she hoped to give them a chance to do the right thing.

"Fighting a war should not be our priority at this moment. Dionaea's family is out there as well as possibly many innocent humans whose lives are at stake. We cannot save Dionaea's family without more information and more comrades in my opinion. Our priority should be to find more humans and allies. If a human does not wish to fight, we will protect them. I hope that's clear and agreed upon. We will not be forcing those stolen from their world into a war they did not sign up for. I am willing to do whatever it takes to get them home if that's what they want. " Risa was not sure how the others felt. She knew they were passionate about defeating Aklenroth and so was she, but the lives of the innocent would always be of utmost importance to her. "I feel that Dionaea's family will be used as leverage against us so my hope is that they will not be hasty with their lives. I really hope so. If we can find them and ensure their safety, I will then be willing to lay my life down to fight for Avalia's freedom."

Risa began to pull a flier out and she flattened it across the table with her hands. "I found this on the way here. This ball will be a big event. If any human found allies, they could probably gravitate towards this ball in search of others or even of help. It's risky but it might be worth it. I don't think we'll stand a chance alone. "

"Uh... Hi everyone. I'm Alie." The young brunette waitress approached them awkwardly, hiding the bottom half of her face with her book. Her green eyes peaked over the book at them, blinking. She took out a feather pen and tilted her head, one of her bear ears twitching in her anxiety. "I'm... just gonna write down your orders for you all... If you're ready that is, sorry! You can tell me them! If you need more time that's okay. Any drinks?" Her words seemed to get faster the more she spoke. The girl was a bit unprofessional but Risa found her cute and charming. She could recall the young child from years ago. She had only been a few years younger than her. It seemed she took up working here.

"Hello Alie! I'm Risa. You might remember me from a long time ago. You were still very little so that's alright if you don't."Risa greeted her, to which she nodded shyly, "I'll get the Alaberry custard, please. Her sweet-tooth usually gave in. She always favored fruity dishes.

Once Alie finished interacting with the others and taking orders, she addressed the others again, "I've done a great deal of speaking. I would like to hear everyone else's opinions please, especially yours Dionaea. Speak as much as you want. I apologize for taking up so much of the conversation. I will pay for everyone's food today so don't worry about that. I just really wanted to tell you all what's in my heart. "

Malachi put his hands on hips as he straightened and listened to the child. Children did often lie and it could be nothing, but being in the dangerous situation they were in; he wasn't so sure he could have a liar in the midst right now. An entire nation of people quite possibly sat on their shoulders. They had no idea if any humans had successfully been brought in. No one could be trusted. It wasn't much a place for a child anyhow. To make matters worse, he picked up on the scent of humans.

Fortunately, Kenia had a story for that. She was gathering food for him then she disappeared up the stairs. He awkwardly smiled at the kid in the period she was gone. Malachi kept his eye on him, making sure he wasn't up to more schemes. He pondered about getting Rei a new shirt before they trained, as it looked to be a bit of a mess.

To his surprise, Kenia returned with jewelry. Yes. Let's reward the thief and liar for his wonderful performance.Malachi thought sarcastically at first. He wanted the mischevious boy away from the humans as soon as possible, so if giving him these things was what it took, then it would have to do. "You're more than old enough to understand that if you want things like food and Amas, then you have to work for them. No more stealing, no more breaking into homes, got it, Sir Fibbsalot?"

Elsea came out wearing super interesting clothing that Risa had only those outsides of the fairy kingdoms wear. The color of her dress was enchanting against her hair. The cape was also a great touch. "You look beautiful as always!"Risa told her with a smile. Sometimes Risa wondered if she appreciated pretty girls more than other fairies she met.

Dionaea soon brought out a surprising outfit of her own. She was wearing a red cape and wearing pants! She had never seen her wear something like this before but Dionaea looked great in the new clothes. However, she knew the girly-girl in her would break out and stifled a giggle as she started to make a skirt with the cape as Dionaea spoke.

Risa returned the embrace, telling her, "That is the perfect disguise! You look great. We're all changing constantly and that's okay. You'll always be you no matter what you wear or what happens to you and we'll always accept you. Nothing can change that."

With everyone ready, Risa began to lead them down the road to a nearby restaurant that her brother had introduced her to. Thinking of him made her heart hurt. Her expression fell and she grew quiet on the way there. She wondered if he would have been proud of her or thought she was dumb for this week's actions. She shook her head, deciding that she knew he would be proud. He had wanted freedom so bad. Risa wished that she had been there to protect him like all the times he had done for her so that he could fight alongside her for it now.

The small cafe-like dining establishment was on the bottom floor of a two-story white and blue paneled building in the middle-class district. It clearly wasn't luxurious but it was charming. The wooden board sign outside read "Baelde's." Through the glass window, a couple people could be spotted eating indoors but it was not as bustling as Risa remembered. She supposed eating out was becoming more expensive to do and perhaps people were nervous with the trouble looming over them all.

Immediately upon entering, the joyous voice of an older man filled the room, "Ah! Sweet child! You have grown!" A pleasantly plump demi-human with bear ears coming out of a mess of brown hair started to struggle to get out from behind the counter to get over to them. He had a soft and friendly face with green eyes that seemed to sparkle from happiness. His big smile could be seen even through all his facial hair. He looked like a kid in a candy-shop; he was so excited. Risa immediately hugged him upon seeing him. "I am so happy to see you, little Risa! Oh and you have brought my wonderful huntsman, oh he's like a son!" He stopped speaking to take Kyran into quite literally a bear hug. He set him down after remembering that Kyran enjoyed breathing sometimes. His eyes moved over Elsea, Dionaea and Elthrael and he gave them a smile, waving his hands in the air, which were a bit on the furry side, "..and all these happy people to are here to eat! Warm greetings! I am Chef Baelde. Some call me Big Bear around town and why wouldn't they, huh?"He started to chuckle at his own joke, waving them over to a table, "Please take some time look over the menu! So many beary good choices! Hahaha!"

Risa sat at the table and smiled at the others, "Isn't he so darling? He's been such a sunshine for so many years." She handed the menus to them all to read over. There were some foods that Elsea might recognize but other concoctions seemed a bit more unique. There were a lot of fruity treats, some of the fruits which were unheard of to Elsea. Eggs, milks, meats, potatoes, and vegetables were all common components of the foods. Baelde was quite the baker so he had a lot of baked breads. Some were fruity and sweet while others seemed to include meat and cheeses on top.

Corvina had explained they had nothing to do with it and he nodded as he took in the scene. The homeless kid probably broke in hoping to score some loot. He was empathetic toward the situation, having seen the insane amount of impoverished in the country. The economic state was a mess and most were struggling. Starvation can push even saints to desperation.

"Naturally, Malachi, I invited this..."Malachi glanced over at the sound of Rei's voice, taking amusement in his sarcasm, but he did not let it show. "...small fox thing to Kenia's home." He continued with it until finally getting to the point and agreeing they did not know the child.

"Rei, if you were half as clever as you think you are, you'd be twice as clever as you really are. You waste our time with the nonsense. Just get to the point next time, boy."Malachi retorted, "You two can take some food and prepare to train. This will not interrupt our daily plans. Kenia and I will join you shortly."

Kenia had been feeding the boy who broke in a cake and allowing him to explain to which he started to drag him into a false story. Malachi rolled his eyes as the boy threw a pouch into his hands. He gently placed it into Kenia's hand, which she ended up holding up as she spoke first. He hadn't been all too worried Kenia would believe the child, but it was comforting to know she did not doubt her trust in him. Though he was quite angered, Malachi knew he had to be softer to children. It had been trial and error even when he had fathered himself but he had also been a different man back then.

"I know you feel cornered; it's a clever little story you made up on the spot. Seems like you're quite the survivor."Malachi knelt down to speak to him softly once Kenia had gotten done asking his intentions. "My name is Malachi. We have no interest in getting you in trouble if we can avoid it. Please cooperate with her questions... this time honestly. He wasn't sure how much they could actually trust him enough to keep him around. Was this a terrified child just trying to survive or was this a manipulative little boy who learned from a young age that he could get what he wants if he said the right thing?

Risa couldn't help but giggle when Kyran had complimented her and spun her around. She hugged him tightly once he had set her down, extremely grateful for his words. "Oh thank you, Kyran! I really have to thank your mother. She's so lovely and talented. It's funny how much better a pretty dress can make a girl feel sometimes." He stated that he had dresses inside and she watched Elsea comply and go inside with interest towards them. Maybe the boys would find it silly but it had been a hard week for them all. Little things to cheer themselves up were important. Elthrael had seated himself and seemed deep in thought so she figured it'd be best not to disturb him.

Risa gravitated to Dionaea's side, glancing at Kyran for a moment as she did as if to say, 'let's make sure she's okay.'
She had spent a lot of time with Dionaea already this week. She had initially explained how it had not been her fault at all what happened. The dark elf was extremely wrong for what he had done. If protecting the innocent was a crime, then so be it. Risa was determined to find and protect the humans as well as Dionaea's family now. Unfortunately, without gaining some help and more information, the latter could not be done so easily. However, she knew how important Dionaea's family was to her and she had grown close to them herself. It was a priority they could not set aside. She hoped to talk about this once they were sitting. It was important they lay out what they wanted to and their game plan and move away from the unproductive quarreling.

She knelt down as they waited for Elsea and began to focus on the grass. She wasn't much of a chlorokinetic but she had learned a few basics in school. Nothing particularly offensive, though she had been trying to practice this week. Growing flowers and being able to tend the natural life around you was something most fairies had to learn as caretakers of the forest. She probably could not grow an apple tree as fast as Elthrael but smaller things such as berries were easier for her to create. Flowers began to grow and bloom near their feet and she began to pick a few. Moving over to behind Dionaea, she began to brush her fingers through her hair and braid and decorate it. "If you want to borrow something, I can come to help you pick! You dress you have is lovely as well and I'd love to help you shop for some other things to wear. It might be better to buy some more practical clothing for us all even though it's not as fun."

Malachi listened to Kenia and felt a pang in his heart. Her longing for her children was a feeling he knew too well yet had buried for all these years. It seemed at a different time the woman led a much different lifestyle. There was not much he could say to comfort her other than to open up his honest feelings. Losing a child was a wound that never healed. He also felt nostalgic and decided to tell her about Gael. "My son Gael was ten when I lost him and my Cara." He told her softly."I never studied much into the idea of an afterlife, but in case there is one where all who we have lost monitor us, I think it's important we lead lives they can be proud of and have hope that they're somewhere safe."

As a young light elf, Malachi had led a very academic lifestyle. He had studied hard and delved into books more than most. Malachi had become an accomplished mechanical engineer by his late twenties. He never spent time praying or even thinking about an afterlife. However, once he had lost his family, it was the only thing that could ease his immense grief at the time. All he could do was believe that they existed somewhere still and it drove him to want to be a father and husband that they'd be proud of. He wanted to stop the pain and bring upon a peace that would ensure safety for all and stop the destruction from happening again.

Maybe one day I'll hold those hands again.

The sound of racket, a dog barking and Rei yelling made him glance over his shoulder. "Ah. Looks like we yet again have become parents."He mumbled dryly, moving toward the kitchen to find out what was happening. There was an absolute mess on the way there, the water bucket spilled on the floor. His brows furrowed in anger as he made his way into the kitchen to yell at them for upsetting the dog. He did not to expect some strange demi-human child perched on a book shelf once he arrived. He glanced the child up and down before turning to glare immediately at Rei and Corvina. "Okay, explain now."

Risa could not believe everyone was being so unkind to each other. There was a valid reason to question and perhaps mistrust, but no reason to be rude. She thought maybe they were all just misunderstanding each other. It reminded her of when her parents would bicker with Helio; he had been so headstrong about everything and they always would never believe him. It was understandable that Elthrael would flee and try to preserve his own life, however, she questioned the nature of Jean's death and what had really happened. There wasn't much point to mistrust and argue with Elthrael unless evidence surfaced to support it. All they could do was try to trust each other as they all had a common enemy. She didn't like to see anyone unhappy so she decided to move away from the situation for her own sanity. After a moment, she retreated inside to escape the fighting to change out of her wet dress and into her clothes for the day.

She took her time, braiding her hair into a thick braid down her back and adorning it with pretty little flowers of assorted colors. It was a lovely day so she decided to break out the dress Kyran's mother had made her as a present this week. She had always brought baked goods and healed Kyran's family free of cost so the family had surprised her with a gift while she was staying there. Risa was excited to wear it. It was a very nice dress.

When Risa was outside once again, Elthrael was explaining himself. She could not believe they were all still arguing. It honestly upset her. Risa had grew up attending charm school as a young girl and she knew they would have been disgusted with the idea of strangers being impolite like this. Elthrael addressed her upon her arrival before she could speak up.

"Princess Millinia, you alone have the power to save the fairy kingdom. I simply cannot leave the heiress guarded by a vapid vulpine again, I mean have you ever felt as unsafe as you did down in that fox den hm?"

Risa tilted her head. She didn't recall informing him of her background. Her family was pretty recognized in the fairy community so it wasn't too wild a thing. Had she considered what it would be like if Aklenroth hadn't stripped her family of its power? She'd truly be a princess. Some had recognized her and her brother as royals out in the streets, especially amongst Helio's rebellious friends, but she hadn't paid much mind to it at the time. Did Elthrael really think she could inherit the throne? That was a lot of responsibility but she'd take it if the folk of the River Kingdom wanted her to. It was more of a weight to bear than a blessing to rule. Her grandfather had always told her: 'heavy is the head that wears the crown.' It had been from one of the human's books, but she knew it was true in any realm. Caring for a kingdom was not something to take lightly.

If it meant she could ensure peace and happiness, she'd do it. If she was the only one who could, maybe she would then.
Her family was well-respected and would probably entrust them with power, knowing they'd take everyone's best interests into account. After a moment of her thoughts, she addressed all and not just Elthrael. This was probably the first time Elsea learned of her bloodline.
"I don't know how much power I really have, but if who I am really does mean something, then that is something to consider if we really do get Aklenroth off his throne. It would really be something if we all could decide our fates for ourselves, rather than a lich and his dark elves, who all know nothing of how to maintain a forest, rule fairies the way he does. They unfortunately all know nothing of how demi-humans are able to use their amazing talents to build such a beautiful city, yet control demi-humans. All this while they allow pain and suffering to occur. None of it should be what is done. "

Risa did not like that he was insinuating that Kyran could not protect her. If anything, Kyran was who to thank for their lives. No matter the way he had chose, if they were all alive from being in that den, that's what mattered. However, she did not like that her friends had continued this argument. If she had to take the reins here in order to halt this nonsense, she would. They wanted a princess, they'd get one.

With a smile, she folded her hands elegantly, "If we're going to be addressing me as Princess Millinia now, then I'd like to start practicing on my regal command." Her tone was playful as she began to speak but it took a serious turn, "We're going to halt this banter. All of you. If there is reason to mistrust Elthrael, it will eventually be revealed. For now, we have no proof he has done anything wrong. It is normal to be cautious but please, no unwarranted rudeness. Elthrael, please do try your best to be kind as well if you wish to remain with us and are as good-willed as you say. You will be not saying rude things to Kyran, and he not to you. It is unbecoming of gentlemen."She took a deep breath and smiled again to lighten the mood. This was probably as close to getting mad as Risa seemed to get with them thus far. "I know the nicest little place to eat. Chef Baelde makes amazing food. Take some time to ready yourselves if you need it. I'd like to address our goals when we're all sitting."
